YodaMan 3D
So I did some PvP this weekend, freeroam and game modes, I noticed that against certain players that I would have to hit them several times to get the kill with a headshot. Meanwhile, I was being taken out with just one shot. Then I noticed that in some of the missions, that it would take several headshots to kill NPCs, while in some cases it took only one from them. What am I missing that everyone else seems to be doing?
Poggy
Hmmmm... What weapon were you using? What was the range? What condition was your weapon in/upgrades/ammo? Did you experience any lag during those sessions?

Ammo was just basic. Haven't unlocked the good ammo yet. No lag during any of that.
Poggy
Then I'm at a total loss - unless it was just too long range.
HuDawg
Some Ability Cards null head shots/reduce head shot damage. (So go for body shots) And lag.... can cause issues.
Lucky Luke
HuDawg is right. The dead eye card Slow and steady, lets you take more head dmg. You also have a passiv card Never without one, were your hat will block a headshot.

Because i always accidentally get hat shots. Good for free hats but not very good at killing.

Tho no helmet has ever been bulletproof,. They were invented to stop shrapnel and debris. Still is true today. RED_DEADMAN
Weapon accuracy is also a factor. Just because your marker is set right between the eyes doesnt guaruntee that the bullet will hit its mark. There have been plenty of times when my perfectly aimed shot has hit the target in the throat and not granted the kill. Keeping my rifle clean seems to help but especially in the case of revolvers, they do not always hit exactly on the marker. Couple this with the ability cards that grant some headshot immunity for a single shot when wearing a hat and another that Grant's headshot immunity while dead eye is active. And others that greatly reduce incoming damage while sprinting or being in cover. distance also will reduce power much more for some weapons. Kean_1
....the repeater you get at the start is junk IMO. I got a Lancaster as soon as I could afford one. They aren't that expensive and worlds better IMO. If I line up headshots on NPCs, they usually go down with the first shot. Pistols are typically a last resort option for me.
