Dogs, maybe..

So I think this could be a cool thing to have in the online end of the time, maybe even the story line. How about owning a "pet"? I would say it would have to be relevant to the times so dogs are a given. I just think it would be cool to be riding around on a horse and have a doggo as a companion that can also attack/hunt animals with you and attack other players. Obviously, it would be allowed to be killed which sucks but then it can just re-spawn at your house/base.

They had dogs in the last one so why not? I would imagine maybe taming a wolf (young) would be an option then. So maybe have like 4 or 5 breeds to choose from and a wolf. I would be down for that. Would add a small edge to the online game as well. They can even sell future breeds as DLC.

Dogmeat kinda thing I guess?

Could work although I'd really want it to also be in single-player. Would be sweet having your pooch run alongside your horse and then also having him/her help catch snakes, "sniff" out an area for enemies, etc.

Yes, there is just something about having a "pet" that always appealed to me in video games. I think this would be great for smaller side missions too. Like maybe using the dog to hunt down treasures and what not. If they have it online it must be a thing in the campaign.

Hmm. Well, say we do head up a tad bit more north with this one, it would make sense to have them. I think a lot of Indian tribes used wild dogs/wolves to aid with hunting so it would be a cool little feature to see in an old west game if you ask me.

I am going to be a typical cat loving snob and suggest that if they allow dogs, they would have to allow cats. Maybe not house cats but like bobcats or something. Or maybe have house cats and allow them to collect bullets for you or something so you save on ammo. Just something silly yet useful.

I think that would be overkill at that point. How many people back then owned wild cats let alone house cats? Most "house cats" were just strays that people fed to keep around just to keep mice off of farm land and out of barns.

Not really sure how this would work. Like what if you are on your horse? The horse will clearly be faster than the dog. That can be a bit awkward online, just saying.

I think it would be fine. You can just have it work like the wolves do. They can deal small amounts of damage or just cause people to miss-aim. As for riding on your horse, maybe the dog will just disappear.

I think it can work fine but if they will allow this online or not, I don't know. I would like to have a dog myself. It is just like having a weapon that isn't a gun so to speak. It would be cool to be able to pick from a few breeds and maybe even have them wear something with a gang logo on it but that is likely getting to GTA and less RDR.

It would be interesting to see this happen. This is something GTA didn't even do so having it be a thing in RDR2 may make the game for "its own" in terms of online play. I want it to be like GTA V online but better so small changes that separate the games like this, I am on board for.
