Do cheat codes ruin the game experience?

Hey all, i've seen lots of cheat codes available online for things like lots of money, ammo, guns, health etc. Also, i've seen slots ingame for entering these codes. What i'm wondering, is if using these will be a good thing, or will doing this kind of ruin the experience of working through the game  on one's own? Thanks very much for any experienced opinions here!

I have used cheats on games that I found boring and just wanted to blow through and be done with.

This game is very story intensive and I think that you would do yourself and the game a disservice with cheats. Like speed reading a great novel or fast forwarding though a good movie. There is plenty too do after completing the main story. It does have somewhat of a slow pace, but, in the end, its well worth the wait.

depends on your play style.  Do you want to blow through the story in super easy mode with cheats activated?  Or do you want the challenge the game provides without cheats?

I agree with @Lonestar.  play through the game once without cheats and experience it.  Then go through and play it with cheats or however you want.

You don't need gold cheats, or the gold bar exploit, you get plenty of cash in the game with missions and finding the various treasures.  I'm only midway maybe through chapter 4 and have a few thousand just from missions, robbing/hunting/selling, and treasures.

I had thought about that too when I first started playing RDR2. I was aware of there were cheat codes you could use. But that they would disable earning any achievements. I was also concerned it might make the game boring, or make me feel unsatisfied. So I've never used them for the game. The game gets challenging at certain points. But it's never too difficult to figure things out and get through it. Though I might try them out on a 2nd playthrough, or on another account, just for the heck of it.

However, there was another game Darkest Dungeon I was playing last year. Around midway or 2/3rds through, it got super frustratingly tough. Like, throw my computer out the window tough. I did use the copy save game exploit to safeguard against losing my party. So that was a case where cheating helped make me enjoy a game that was too difficult for me. I do wonder if I might be able to beat it without doing that.

I'd say wait until after you beat the game to use them.  Then, once you've earned a proper ending, let the cheats flow...lol

Agree with most of the people saying maybe after beating the game. Besides not getting achievements/trophies, I really think it'd take away from the fulfillment of completing missions & earning things the ole fashioned way. Most games get boring to me once I start using cheats

NO. It is not a good thing. Why play if you have to cheat?
