Server Disconnects from Rockstar

Is anyone else having these constant disconnects with server error ending in predominantly **006 (see attached screenshot)?

I have been going back and forth with Rockstar support, and have forwarded suggested ports to a static ip on my xbox one, with some improvement in service. Still getting disconnected sometimes every 5 minutes or if I'm lucky I have seen 1 hour of gameplay. I have never seen this poor server connection issue while playing other online games, such as players unknown, etc. I am surprised that Rockstar does not have a better handle on this issue, considering all their experience with GTA online.

Please share your insights.

I have been in constant contact with Rockstar Support, they have provided a list of ports to forward and DNS addresses to use, along with other tips. Now it reoccurs when I get around other players .Before port forwarding I would get an error sometimes every 2 minutes. Completely unplayable. I am surprised that I am having so much trouble with this game and never any issues with other multiplayer games. I really feel the issue is on their end.

My ISP is not dropping out.

I would keep up the input if you have new information to share with them.

Repeatability is a big help when trying to diagnose problems.  If you find it drops at certain times, instances, etc. (like what you said when you get close to other players), I would let them know that bit of info if you aren't already.

For me, while it doesn't happen frequently, it's usually when I'm in a posse.  I'll wager it has something to do with player lag and how it affects others.  I've had problems in posses before and then when one player leaves, everything goes back to normal.

This may be totally unrelated but in GTAVO players were able to use an exploit using the MTU settings on PS4s to force themselves into a public session alone.  I use it because I hate griefers but still want to participate in the CEO / VP missions, etc.

Anyhow, my point is that I tried this exploit in RDO and it would not connect.  In fact (IIRC), I had to have my MTU setting set to 1500 (max) or close to even get a connection.  It makes me wonder that perhaps RDO is less forgiving of fluctuations in internet performance?  .....I dunno, I'm relatively clueless when it comes to network matters.

I think R* do it on purpose to stop you making $$$. When I experience disconnects it's always when I'm on the way to the butcher, or at the butcher, with a horse fully laden with pelts and animals. lol

fyi...  I received a response from R* Support that they are aware of the issue and working on it. I just hope it gets addressed in one of the updates coming sooner rather than later.  .....but I could say that for a lot of the issues.

I should have stated my comment was a joke. 😁

Oh no Mahuk....  I knew you were joking around.  I just mentioned it because I submitted the complaint earlier today and they responded.  I saw your reply and just thought I would mention it is all.  😀

Thats a common R* server fault caused by an overload of players and servers struggling to cope

Was extremely bad last weekend, I have fiber optic to within 3 feet of my PS4 and ive played P2P games for years and never had issues unless some one enters lobby with a poor connection that persons connection WILL affect all other players in the lobby plus there is some instability within R* servers add them together and there you go.

What I do for my whole internet is switch off the firewall in your router, Do make sure your individual hardware IE pc mobiles etc have adequate AV and there own firewalls where you can install. Make sure your connection for gaming is hard wired (i cannot stress that enough) also test your system you need a good upload as well as your machine will be talking to all other machines in the lobby and finally DO make sure you clean the cache on PS4 regularly not sure if you can do it on Xbox

Update: After submitting 22 emails back and forth, R* asked for screenshots of my Xbox One settings screens. Xbox does not allow me to take screenshots of settings page as it does in game. (Shouldn't they know that?) So I took photos and submitted them. Now they say my connection speed is too slow! Why did it take 22 emails to ask that question? (All along they were saying my NAT was the problem) I knew as soon as I sent it, they would cop out with that excuse. The error message states the error is on the server!!!

Will continue this seemingly useless correspondence.

Happening 100% each time I try to join showdown and when I engage in pvp. I think everyone should email every single last disconnect message and flood rockstar till its fixed. Its been like this for me since day one of playing, going on 2 months now. BUT YOU CAN BUY F$c*ING GOLD,

Port fowarding, DMZ on, firewall off, uPNP on/off. Nothing works, but all my other online stuff works perfect. Its on rockstars end, dont listen to their bs.

Btw I saved all the DC messages from 4hrs of play since last night, 23 total, 23 tickets for rockstar.

Finally, after complaining about Tier 1 response form letters, and asking why, with all their experience hosting online games (GTA) they are unable to troubleshoot this effectively,  I'm getting some supervisor emails asking me to continue troubleshooting. Which I will do. I agree that we all need to flood them with disconnect reports. I'm on 28 emails and counting.

Nice, around 50ish for me now and going strong, customer support is a waste of time, they just try and fob you off with all this port fowarding bull sh*t like we are retards.

They cant even say if they are doing something about it.

On the face of it, I seem to be having more luck than you. I have invited R* Supervisor to call me and discuss my issues. They have asked for country, time zone and best time to call. I will update this thread after the proposed phone call.

Sweet, maybe they can fill you in on whats happening with ERROR 0x20010006.

I was playing today for hours no issues only hunting, soon as I went to kill some guy, boom, 0x20010006. Hunted for around another hour, went to kill some random, boom, 0x20010006. Logged in and went to kill the 1st blip on map boom, 0x20010006.

Guess the snowflakes are safe for now :(

I'm playing on the same network in another room with someone. Since Friday, I'm constantly getting booted whenever we posse up. It's incredibly annoying. I can play for hours on my own but within 5-10 minutes with a posse and I'm booted.

I think i'm reaching maximum patience about disconnect. Literally unplayable & not enjoy anymore. Lost money, lost item, lost pelt,  failing mission... sorry about saying the same thing as already told.

Just don't know what to do,  i'm really mad.. 😑

Update: I heard from R* support on a phone call yesterday. Very professional conversation with Cole, a Supervisor. He related that they are not seeing a widespread issue with connectivity like I am seeing, except for one particular ISP, which I don't recall the name. That ISP is having issues connecting with their servers, and they are working to fix it.

He believes that my disconnects are related to ping not remaining constant. He asked that I monitor ping thru Xbox network settings. I checked ping every 2 minutes and results were, 136, 136, 300, 136, 136, 136, all with no packet loss. I could not stay logged on to server with these pings.

Now today I am monitoring ping again while playing Beta. I am getting 326, 545, 697, 711, all with packet loss. I have been playing for 3 hours straight with no issues. Players riding by me, in town with players, with horse following me, and taking a few breaks for over 5 minutes at a time, sometimes in game menu pause, and other times just standing in game.

So I think ping is not the issue.

I let him know about this site, and told him how many people seem to be having my issue. He said he has heard the complaints from players about losing pelts, etc. So they are aware and seem to be sincere in their efforts to sort out these issues.

I have sent them this info in email. Will discuss with R* when they call back.

I refuse to believe that it's related to folk's router settings or ISP.

I can play literally every other game in my library, including two MMOs (ESO and The Division) with ZERO connectivity problems.

Friday the 13th, the Game?  NO PROBLEM (at least, not with staying connected to the matches.  The game itself on the other hand...).

Hard lined, wifi, port forwarding, none of it makes a lick of difference for me at 300mbps download speeds that never dips below 200, even when sharing bandwidth.  Disconnects every five to ten minutes, regardless.  There's no reason to believe that the issue has anything to do with a person's hardware (my router is less than two years old), and every reason to believe that it has to be on the back end with R*.

I have one simple rule.  R* gets to disconnect me twice within the hour and then I just quit.

I've yet to play more than 30 minutes online after the most recent update that brought us "Gun Rush".

Everyone I've played with has had the same disconnect error to some extent or another.  Even though it's not really an issue for me since it's rare that I get disconnects, it's still a problem as I don't experience that in most other games I play online.

I should also add that I did not say I agreed with their reasoning. As stated my ping is horrendously worse and I have no issues with disconnects???

Cole also told me that in GTAO they found an issue causing disconnects related to Power Saving mode on Xbox One. It needs to be set to NO power saving. Apparently having 'instant on' set,  the Xbox never really shuts down causing excess data stored in cache.

Please create tickets if you have issues, (I'm sure y'all have already done so.
