tadp0le
I am looking to getting into working out to get in better shape for summer. Well, I just want to be in better shape, in general, to feel better. I have neck issues which makes it hard for me to find anything I can do. I would prefer something that I can do that will also help with the issue in my neck and back. Anyone exercise here? What do you do?
X S
I do, all the time. Are you just looking to lose weight, or put on some muscle? I'm not sure what kind of neck issues you have, so I wouldn't want to recommend anything that might make it worse.
shawn
Yes and no. I start to stick to a "workout regimen" and this lasts maybe 2 or 3 weeks and then I don't do anything for 2 or 3 weeks. If you are having neck issues, why not try something like tai chi?
CrabApples
I go for runs when it is warmer out. A friend got me doing it. We go 3 days a week in the spring and summer. I want to get a dog and start going on hikes in the park. I need to exercise more for sure.
HIGHHorse
Nope. I should but I don't. I am relativity active thanks to work but when I am home I sit on my backside for hours at a time.
Ov3RS33R
I've just started working out again. I am going to keep at it while eating healthy and drinking healthy.

I have not been able to get a routine for myself that I don't grow bored of.
X S
So I run and weight train on even and odd days. Running is actually a great way to get started, and the added health benefits are even better. Even if you're not much of a runner, maybe just do a certain distance at any pace you feel comfortable with; maybe a mile. As you begin to feel more comfortable with the pace, push yourself incrementally over time and/or distance. Eventually, you'll be running marathons. As for weights, this requires understanding what muscles to work out, and how to work them. Bodybuilding.com should have extensive information regarding this. But even with this, you can also make incremental baby steps in improving your weight per rep. Mentally, I think some people get ahead of themselves and think they have to be running 5 miles a day or bench-pressing 200 lbs to make any difference. Don't do that, you'll fail before you even begin. Baby steps are the way to making it work. That should at least keep you interested until it becomes habit forming. jACKx
I get free access to a local fitness center for living in my area so I run laps 2 or 3 days a week. It isn't much but it is helping me get in better shape. I don't do weight training or anything like that.
Jackalope_Jill
Bump Yup! I do! It helps with my anxiety and leaves me sleeping sooooo nicely afterwards. I do a lot of hiking, jogging, EXTREME GARDENING. Mostly hiking though... Sitting at an office for 8 hours isn't going to expend all that energy you have, you know? Kormath
i just joined a gym. Doc says i need to shed at least 50 lbs. i got rid of about 30 by just changing my diet, those last 20 are a real pain to get rid of lol. Mostly i do the bikes and rowing machines and such, never been much into weights, but i'm told that's the best way to shed the pounds, so i just started working those into my horrible routine of going to the gym lol i blame it all on my gym buddy, they're on vacation this last week
DylBandit
No but I need to exercise. Ever since I left high school I blew up like a house because I wasn't in sports anymore. Plus, bad eating habits, genetics plays a part, and just being lazy for the most part.

I did quite well in track. My best was 4th in state in 100m hurdles my junior year. Then I graduated and got lazy, A steady diet of coke/pepsi/dew and fast food for most meals is not a good diet, unless you want to gain weight fast Doc said i needed to gain weight back then. so i did, now they say i have to lose it, can't ever make them happy can we.
