Trader role = posse killer

I remember the good ol days.

Before the "roles" update. When we would posse up, riding all over the map together, hitting a variety of stranger missions, getting into adventures together.

Now...it seems like we only "posse up" for as long as it takes to do wagon escorts.

Then everyone is quick to leave the posse so they can restart their camp and get Cripps back to work.

Sure, occasionally we posse up to do a legendary bounty, or help each other fill materials, but it's mostly escorts.

Another hurdle seems to be the difficulty of setting camps back up afterwards, and disconnects that seem to rise when people are jumping in and out, tents are in and out of posse camps and such.

The title is a little dramatic, but I hope you get my point.

If only Cripps would work when I'm gone, I could get back to the good ol days.

That’s a good point.
We were just talking yesterday that since the update, we’ve done exactly ONE stranger mission together, and zero just roaming around looking for something interesting.

Its all jobs now. Doing bounties, hunting, deliveries, etc.

A definite positive though, we are spending a lot more time in camp just hanging out, and it’s fun that each person’s tent matches their individual theme.  Little things like that are good.

Do you "posse up" with randoms?  That could be part of your problem.

No, pretty consistent group.

But afterwards the delivery it's always

"So and so" has left "posse"

"So and so" has left "posse"

"So and so" has left "posse"

Me: come back let's raise some hell!

Them : "cripps is at 78 goods, I gotta get them done"

Yes, the money's nice, and there are a lot of benefits.

But, like I said we're just not rolling together as much as we used to.

Also, when others would get online and see the persistent was active, they would just join from online menu and after a couple of hours the gang was back together.

Now they will get online, but remain solo until cripps is finished then message for an escort.

Yeah, we're pulling in major cash, but....sometimes it doesn't seem worth what we've lost.

Back in the Beta, Stranger Missions were bread and butter. Now it is better for me to run a 4 man posse so that I can cycle the Legendary Bounty. If there a bunch of us online, we will put out the word the someone has a full wagon. Basically taking turns running in large goods wagons , 3* bounties and the Legendary Bounty. Easy way to help lower levels rank up. 7 man posse is almost unproductive for me now considering the payout for the Legendary. Everyone is different of course, that is just my thoughts. Seems the only time I run in 7 is when a fight breaks out and join in to help.

Perhaps it's time to find another group?  ....at least for those times that you want to do the things you want to.  There are always going to be people who will help others out and then in exchange you help them out.

Maybe finding just a couple good folks you can ride with during this time is the key instead of a bunch of people.  I know some who will work on one person's tasks for a while or even the whole session and then switch.

Yes I agree with the feeling behind this.  I love being in a posse, but am not really interested in running one.  Four of us did the new bounty at three and four stars yesterday, and brought in a few regular bounties, and did a little hunting for the leader's camp in between.  I never get help with my own trading, I just do it as and when and run solo, local missions.  I have the medium wagon, having the large (should happen soon, it's about all I have left to buy of the structural stuff, and I am now level #65 after yesterday's bounties and some collecting).  Trouble is, we had to log off (school run!) before we ran in the delivery, so the hunting only benefits me as I enjoyed helping out, I won't financially profit from it (indeed, I set my own hunting back).  I don't mind personally at all (collecting has made me ridiculously rich and I'm ranking up so fast that I always seem to have a treasure map), but I can see why many players would feel torn between posses and flying solo.  Maybe joint wagons for posses, and each having our own Cripps table in a shared camp is the way forward, although (not being an expert) I imagine that'd be a nightmare to code.

I think Moosh is onto the right idea here... when running in a posse, your supplies are split somehow, maybe 25/75 or whatever, between The posse crips and your personal Cripps (posse leader of course will have most of all of his supplies going to his Cripps and few if any doled out to the other players. There are benefits to being in charge after all.). Now, the other players will be able to check on their personal progress at the camp butcher table. But the posse leader must start the delivery or resupply mission  for the other players. But when it is the other players turn, they get payed as if they started the mission from their own camp.

Also, why not bring upgrades to your personal camp to the posse camp? Say the leader doesn’t have the improved camp fire, but you do, it could be part of the posse camp while you are running together... After all, we don’t have Dutches ‘pay me’ box. There should be some ways to share resources...

Yes, oddly I noticed a posse camp last night which didn't have the stew pot and thought it was an odd omission given I have one.  Makes sense to share - it's stew, after all!
