I think you almost have to put new buildings in the game.

Possible... There is definitely a few spots around that could become a homestead type place.

I Just don’t see how you can have an unassuming dwelling with a basement as part of your camp.

It could be the same locations as a camp would be but a shack looking building instead of your camp. Would most likely still have the same issue of setting camp tho. They may make it so you can't have camp set and moonshine shack at the same time?

Will be busy on the map with all new buildings from players.  I hope you may decide on location.

I have a feeling there will be some predetermined locations (how many and where I cannot say). I also think there is a good chance it’ll work similar to the GTA apartments, businesses and the likes (you go into your own little pocket world within the server). I guess it could also be done where you only log onto a session when it on are the first person with that location set up, but there would have to be a lot of potential locations if they don’t want mostly empty servers.

I really don’t see how it can be set up, taken down, moved or anything else a camp does... Its supposed to be a house. Likely once you have it, it’ll be in the spot you chose every time you log in. I do see how it could be tied to existing camp locations somehow (maybe that’s why camps have been so glitchy lately?) and perhaps having your camp and cripps able to set up in the yard.

Of course, I’m just guessing here. But it’s just too big of a stretch to me to be able to set up and tear down a building, dig a basement, then pack it all into a wagon. Now if they advertised something like a Still wagon for your camp it would be a little different. But they also mention setting up your own illegal bar, so this is likely to be the beginnings of owning property for RDR.

News Update: I found the following post on Reddit and I can not say if this is an authentic leak, but let's hope that it is and that RockStar does this revolver right with muzzleloading animation. It came up when I was searching for information on delivery wagons of all things. The caption was "You did good R*!'.

Please be true!.

Will this be a good gun? I only recently found out some Cowboys only loaded 5 bullets because the gun could go off in the holster 😮

Yes, most people would use their 6 shooter as a 5 shooter. The logic being the firing pin (mounted directly on the hammer) shouldn’t be resting on the primer of a round while you are move it about, working, riding etc.

as for this being a good gun... well, there is a reason they all went the wayside in favour of cartridge guns... but who knows how it’ll turn out in rockstar’s video game version? They aren’t exactly on a good track record of reproducing these firearms in a historically accurate way...

I saw a video and they hit the hammer and it did actually touch the round. Pew! no toes.

As long as they don't have flying horses that lock onto you it's all fine by me :D

If they put these in the game with actual muzzleloading animation, it will have a slower reload time then other revolvers. I currently carry two Colt 1873 Cavalry revolvers in Red Dead Online. They are the in game Cattleman revolvers with the long barrel upgrade. Mine are silver (nickle plated) with pearl grips, full engravings with gold inlays, gold triggers and hammers (gold plated), and rifiling in the barrels.

For me, they are the best revolvers for my playing style.

Sounds like my preferred pair for cowboy action range days. I got two with 7 1/2 inch barrels.  In .45 colt (I prefer the authenticity to the reduced recoil).

Nothing like the classics!. You do any three gun lever action with revolvers?

I shot full courses with two revolvers, a lever gun (in .45 colt for simplicity sake) and a 12 gauge side by side. I’m just in it for the fun. You probably won’t see me in any of the big money events lol.

i sometimes use my cap and balls when I’m feeling in the mood. I often reload my .45s with black powder as well.

I do love cap n ball. I visited a museum when I was in Tombstone called the Gunfighter Hall of Fame. Tons of classics.

. The ability card issues. If you want to spend the time and money getting a tank build just to grief...What ever. It's not unbalanced. Just not what I want to spend my time on pursuing. Since I rarely run into those folks, it is not much concern of mine.

Well the thing is, those cards ruin both pvp and pve.

Unbalanced as in, NO ONE should be able to take 10+ bullets and survive, be it from NPCs or other players.

Its not just the cards that unbalance this game.  Its also the tonics combined with ability cards.

What you spend your time on is your choice.  But since this game is public sessions ONLY with auto aim and pvp is a part of the game.      Who you run into is a non issue.  Many people do run into these players, I know I do.     So its not like ignoring it makes it go away.

I'm not saying I don't run into them. I do and it s!@#ks. I just figure I have the option to just mozy on my way. If they give chase which most don't, My horse is fast enough to get out of Dodge, change my card load out, and match them. I keep my level 3 tonics and seasoned big game meat along side my 40 explosive rounds for just such an occasion. :)

But they have explosive rounds and seasoned game too.

And when it comes to pvp game modes OR free roam activities (such as deliveries).  Its hard to just run awat.

I mean, If you're in mid delivery, are you just gonna leave your sacks on the ground and run away if you get pinged by an explosive arrow?  You'll be forced to fight or defend.    Unless you truly don't care that those few hours worth of hunting ending up in others players hands.

But again, this isn't just about pvp.  It effects pve too.

Tonics usage needs to be throttled.  Ability Cards need to be balanced.  Explosive Ammo needs to me dialed back.    And last but not least, The player base needs to be split on aim preference.    These  are things that R* likes to ignore, but these are game play mechanics that affect the entire game.   Those few things, if improved will make the rest of the game sooo much better.

And here is where I tap out of this one... Because it’s no longer about the prospects of an exciting new Upcoming addition... Now it’s about ‘We need free aim lobbies’ and ‘explosive ammo and ability cards suck’... and I’m sure the ‘but it’s not as advertised’ and ‘people who kill me for any reason are big meanie-heads’ crowd will be showing up before long...

Not that I mind a little off topic banter... but this particular direction has been beat to death and killed many threads in the past...

So... How 'bout that mystery voucher from the first Outlaw Pass? Any guesses what it could be? A free shack? A custom skin for the Navy revolver? a new fancy hat (or other article of clothing)?

What type of horse(s) do you think we'll get this time around?

Load one, skip one.....   As @The_Liquor mentioned, this was to prevent an unintended discharge due to the firing pin striking the primer of the cartridge.  Modern revolvers are typically designed with several safeties to help prevent this kind of thing from happening like a firing pin block, transfer bar, rebound slide, etc.

....and btw, guns don't just "go off".  ;)  In this scenario, the reason one would discharge like that would be due to the hammer being struck while holstered, dropped, etc.  Something has to initiate it.

Not really sure but I have a feeling something is coming soon.  There hasn't been any news re: bonuses, etc. that we usually get on Tuesdays today.

I'm looking forward to it personally as I have with all the past content, tweaks and changes they have been providing with each update.

EDIT: Spoke too soon:

Balanced/Fun game play mechanics with exciting new content... is better than Unbalanced/absurd game play mechanics with 'exciting new content'.   Am I wrong?

No...  it everything doesn’t have to turn into a bitch fest because a few people have issues with the way the game was made... Just saying, there is already a thread out there to whine about all this crap...

Im not whining about anything.. Im telling how it is.

Are we not playing the same game?  You gonna sit there and tell me that this game isn't joke in terms of unabalanced ability cards, tonics, explosive rounds and auto aim?

Most people will agree with me in seconds.    Its people who thinks its perfect as is, that is the minority.

@Kean_1 yes in the vid they hit the hammer to show a knock could fire it off. Let me find the vid.

Awesome video Lucy. I have been inside the Bird Cage Theater when I visited Tombstone. Just under a three hour drive from Phoenix.

I believe that some black powder revolvers had a notch on the cylinder in an area that didn't mess with the revolver's timing. This allowed all cylinders to be loaded without the hammers firing pin resting on a cap. I could be wrong though.

Oh wow you have been there. To Tombstone.

Thanks for the info. I have been looking all these up. I watched this one too. You probably know all these but he did stuff on Tombstone too.

3 bullets in one only though :/

Yep. You can see that it doesn't necessarily take a ton of force either. You can imagine a hand on the range being in several situations throughout their day where this might be a risk as they work.

Just want to clarify something though.....  He makes a point to show the firing pin on the hammer as a reason to leave a chamber empty which needs more explanation IMO.  Their are modern day revolvers with firing pins like this but also have a firing pin block, rebound slide and/or other features that keep the pin from contacting the cartridge so you can safely load and carry the firearm with 6 in the cylinder.

My S&W is like that.  .....my single action Ruger Blackhawk on the other hand has a transfer bar (no pin on the hammer as it is in the frame).

Thanks for the info too. I like to know the history on all these things so this is new to me. These details. But it makes total sense and those guns could be hit easy doing work like you say. 🤠

Yep. I visited the actually site of the famous gunfight, just behind the OK Corral off of Allen Street. There is the Gunfighter Hall of Fame which houses many guns owned by outlaws. The movie guns and the cup from Val Kilmer in the movie Tombstone is on display there. They also have an excellent old west comedy show around the corner from the museum. In Tucson, there is a place called Old Tucson, a movie set that filmed many classic western movies.
