🤔

This is cool but this feature is only confirmed for Red Dead Redemption II Singleplayer not Red Dead Online.

I want to be able to customize every pore and hair follicle on my character's body. I fully intend on making the most of it and spending a good 2 hours on it.

Not me, I want the most slovenly, basic character imaginable.  Makes is that much more embarrassing when my fat, herpes sore riddled, balding, hook handed, peg-legged mouth breather smokes someone online from his grease and poo-stained overalls.  No, he won't be wearing anything else, not a shirt, not shoes/boots, not a hat.

Edit: but his hair will be fabulous.

I'm fine with deep customization, as long as it stays within the correct time period.

I don't want to see any cowboys with a hot pink Mohawk running around, really would ruin the immersion.

As long as the items aren't locked behind randomized lootboxes that are cash-only

Kind of off topic, but that is the worst sh*t to happen to gaming... My buddies and I have been playing rocket league lately (go ahead and laugh) and I keep getting these stupid f*cking lootboxes that you need to buy keys for. I don't care for customization at all really, but it's a huge part of the game to my friends. They've each bought at least 20 keys each (I think they're like $1 a piece)... Now I've bought some dumb sh*t in my life, but even I can't justify spending money on that sh*t. I could understand it if it helped you progress somehow or unlocked another part of the game, but it literally just makes your car look different... Who cares?

They're also jealous as f*ck that I got a cool skin randomly from leveling up (and didn't have to pay for it).

it really killed my favorite franchise

A franchise can always be brought back (look at F13), but lootboxes have forever changed the way games are made. It's no longer about making a good game. Now it's about making kids gamble for cosmetics. It's shady as f*ck and won't go away. It's only going to get worse.

I think being able to port your own likeness onto your Red Dead Online character would be a great feature although I think the likelihood of Rockstar implementing a feature like this is very slim, it's just not they're style.

But if it was on the cards I don't think they'd steer clear of it because of gun issues in the US, that's would be political correctness gone mad. Anyone who links a Western third person shooter game where you can play as a virtual version of yourself to current gun issues is a complete moron.

Anytime in a society where people have a lack of self control and even less ties to taking responsibility for their actions.  I can see given players that connection where they can live out some sick fantasy where they can run around kill without any rhyme or reason.  Some can't control their own actions and have trouble separating real life verses a game.

R* will always be looked at because most of their games are for people who play the "other-side" of the law. Even in Bully you played a kid with problems.  My friends and I were talking about how you can shot people and hide bodies so that you don't get caught and he was worried that people would see that as helping people become a serial killer . These games aren't for people who have social issues I think. I believe games such as these are to show people who live the " straight and narrow" life more about the criminal lyfe and how 1. not all people who do crime are bad 2. we each have a point where we have to make a tough decision based on what is moral at the time. 3 Live out your dark fantasies. RDR2 is Westworld the video game for us, we can live out our fantasies as a cowboy. The game is rated M for Mature so if a 12 year old is playing the game then that is a problem with the parents not the game.

I agree that there are some sick people in this world but putting a feature in a video game which allows players to port their face onto their virtual character is not gonna contribute to some psycho deciding to go on a rampage in real life, it's not even a drop in the ocean.

If certain people have difficulty differentiating between real life and a video game that shouldn't affect the artistic/creative vision of a developer.

Violence is as old as mankind itself and blaming any entertainment product for a rise in such behaviour is ridiculous, if it was a major issue and there was a link between people invisioning themselves in violent situations and those same people committing violent acts governments would be moving to confiscate VR Headsets from people and taking their computers just incase they Photoshop themselves into P. P. Rubens' Massacre Of The Innocents.

The amount of attention given to mental health problems is an issue but putting ridiculous restrictions on art, video games or movies is not the answer, it's moronic.

I do not question the artistic visions, I personally don't blame entertainment for all that is wrong with the world.  I believe that mental health is a major issue.  Now a few years back and I wish I could remember more about the discussion, but a friend had read a article, that was about a study of how people play video games that give you a right and wrong scenarios, gives you incite on their personal psyche and gives even more incite on how they will react to real life decisions.  This was in the lines of his major in college and he wasn't quite buying it, saying that the study was way to small scale to ever prove anything.   Since we have both played online games together on and off, it brings up that old debate.  Most say they aren't like that in real life, but their actions and their words in the heat of game play far often makes people wonder.

I mean really, that is what matters most. Gotta make sure his hair glistens in the snow and blinds other players in direct sunlight. Maybe he's born with it? Nah betch, that's Maybelline! Wait... That is make-up, not hair. ffs I suck at this.

Nah, bro, it's all good.

I plan on shooting for a fat Fabio hillbilly Kaitlyn Jenner in overalls vibe.

I really want to see your character when you make it. That should be a pinned thread somewhere actually. I know some people will make off the wall characters and I look forward to it.

I won't be spending too much time here. I mean it is cool that we will or SHOULD have better options than in GTA V but I will just do the basics of it. I don't care too much if my character looks like me or anyone else. I will be more focused on gear and attire.
