  1. It's because older guys generally know the answer to this question:

  2. I was there day 1 of GTA online. It barely even worked. I waited 2 years for heists, and when they came I only ever finished 2 of them. They required a party of 4 at all times in a game where most players are scumbags looking to kill noobs for fun. I was expecting payday 2. I felt duped. Honestly, when R* says there'll be heists in RDR2 I'm expecting maybe 3 to 5 in the main storyline. Nothing else. I believed them when they advertised heists as a radiant thing in GTA 5. I won't make that mistake again. And honestly, you're not wrong by thinking their businesses practices with online are scummy. There are PLENTY of game breaking problems that make it impossible for new players to enjoy themselves online. Especially when you consider level 400 veterans butchering level 1 players in helicopters. R* doesn't mind those problems. F the players. BUT as soon as a money making glitch is found -- INSTANTLY FIXED. They can't risk players making money in the game. If they did they wouldn't buy shark cards with their parents money. These are the things which make me uncomfortable with all the hype I have now. I can't stop thinking about this game, and yet, I was here before -- 5 years ago. And once the high ran off a week into the game I realized how hollow it truly was. Embarrassing. I'm HOPING Rockstar realized the massive amount of loyalty and respect (and money) that CDPR got for their pro-consumer practices with The Witcher, and I hope they're taking steps towards implementing those types of pro customer practices in their games as well. That being said, I don't expect it. Too many shareholders demanding a quick profit. And we're seeing them push pre-order bonuses and special editions and $100 MERCHANDISE BOXES (that don't even include the RDR2 game!). Red flags are everywhere.

  3. I've never had the desire to cheat or hack a game just so I can be better then other players. I play a game because I want to have fun. I don't give a sh*t about what place I'm at on the Leaderboards or what my statistics are. I play to have fun and nothing else.

  4. Using hacks/cheats/glitches just makes you part of the problem. Doesn't make you any better, just means that you're not good enough to play a fair game. Also kind of depends on the game/cheat. Your friend is using them for a competitive edge, that's a problem. It may mean that he's having more fun, but that's at the expense of another player's fun. Cheating in a solo/offline game (like old school game shark type stuff) isn't a problem. Nobody cares. Edit: I can still probably remember how to do the "Missing No." cheat in the original pokemon games.

  5. I disagree. We've also seen several videos including gameplay which have been phenomenal. That's like judging a book by several very riveting excerpts from different chapters. Which is a far sight better than by just looking at the cover.

  6. Of course is needed, and it is not easy find horse balls experts. Actually thats the main reason why R* decided to delay the release until Oct. 2018 😁

  9. As the hype train for Red Dead Redemption II rolls forward and picks up pace I find it harder and harder to wait for release and until the news ramps up in these last two months I'll remain bored so to avoid the boredom I'm gonna just use this Posse to post Emblems for now while I count the days, hopefully we'll continue to attract new members to the Forum and maybe some of them will join this empty Posse so that I'm not just posting to myself. Original ideas for Emblems are hard for me to come by so some are just inspired by pictures I've seen, whether or not I'll be able to apply them in Red Dead Online remains unknown but I enjoy making them all the same. If anyone wishes to post any Wild West/Red Dead Redemption themed Emblems or artwork they've found or made please feel free to do so. Nothing special about this one, it's my Posse name over a Billiard Table with two LeMat Revolvers. These are the silhouettes of Franco Nero as Django, Lee Van Cleef as Colonel Douglas Mortimer and Clint Eastwood as Josey Wales, I'm not skilled enough to make them in the Emblem Editor with any substantial detail so I went for a sundown theme. This is a cow skull with Native American decoration that I saw pictured somewhere, not much more to say about that. I made this after being inspired by Benjo's Posse name and Trump's funny looking face.

  10. I was talking with a friend from my friends' list and he was telling me that he can't remember the last time he has played a game that he hasn't used a cheat, glitch, or hack intentionally just to stay competitive, mostly a PvP player. I understand and don't need a confession here if you use them. Just curious how many feel it is ok to use a cheat, glitch, or hack if others are doing it in the game just so you can keep up?

  11. I know Rockstar said not to worry about the online end being filled with things you need to pay real money for. They also said the game itself won't be a "cash grab" or "pay to win" game... But until I see it and plat it, I can't help but worry.

  12. Howdy! I’m new to these parts. But you all seem to be a friendly bunch, so I figure I ought to stay a spell and get to know ya. Red Dead Redemption 2 looks like it’s going to be amazing. Feels like the release date is still an eternity away. I’m on Xbox 1. My gamer tag is: Grey Gato If anyone wants to ride out together when RDRO is released, just give me a holler. How does one rustle up a beer on these forums? -Grey Gato

  13. How many hours of investment into a game before you feel you get your money's worth? I had this debate recently with a group of gamers and was shocked by the responses. While some felt spend $60 required years of playtime, while others felt spending $100 for 24 hours was more then enough..

  14. I don't think it is a bad thing to have people playing online. I don't think they will pass up the opportunity to drop some campaign DLC on us though either. They can easily charge $15 to $30 for extended game content a pop so there is money in it for them. There will be a fan base that mostly focuses on the online side of the game but plenty of us Red Dead fans will be investing more time and effort offline on the campaign than online.

  15. There's a difference between "Alien Life" and "Intelligent Life"; Alien Life can be anything from single-celled organisms to Tardigrades. Put me firmly in the "yes" column, either way. While I don't believe that we've been visited by "little green men" or "greys", I'm also acutely aware of the fact that it's entirely possible that not only do "aliens" exist, but they're here among us in ways we can't even perceive. The Earth is billions of years old based on fossil records, or thousands of years old if you are an adherent to some religions. In either event, our general understanding of atoms and subatomic particles wasn't verified until the early part of the 20th century. In the lifespan of humanity, 100-120 years is small, barely a blip. In the scheme of the Earth's history, it's infinitesimally insignificant. We've only scratched the surface of our capacity for understanding: 50-60 years ago, a "computer was a manual device that completed calculations and took up the size of an entire room. Now, we can access almost the entirety of humanity's collective knowledge from our phones, which are smaller than a deck of playing cards in many instances. We're just now starting to understand how Dark Matter ties the universe together. Voyager 1 has only been in interstellar space for a short while, and Voyager II is about to join it. Those probes were launched decades ago, and they're still helping us redefine our understanding of the universe. In any event, unless these aliens have plans to enslave humanity, I'm not overly concerned about whether or not they exist. I choose to believe in them, but respect the opinion that they don't. I believe in an invisible man in the sky who watches me in the shower, so I don't really have room to judge others' beliefs.

  17. I have had that with players flying over in jets and bombing my son and I. Those same players will probably brag to their friends about what a loser you are and how great they are at PvP. lol

  18. Whoa, hold on there, moneybags! Did your butler ferry you about with your fancy power locks and windows?

  19. Quite ironic. My SECOND car was a black 1994 Nissan Sentra with a 5-speed manual transmission, and power locks and windows. My first was a 1987 Sentra standard with no auto anything.

  20. I doubt anyone wants a 1994 Nissan Sentra with a 5-speed manual transmission with a pitted bumper from purposely ramming shopping carts, small animals, and the occasional off-roading excursion.

  21. Sounds harmless enough, honestly. I'm a low level and broke, so naturally people like to f*ck with me in GTA... It's rare that I can do much without some rich douchebag flying over in his stupid f*cking delorean to blow me up... I don't see how that's a fair fight to begin with, so something like that sounds totally reasonable. Edit: Clearly I'm a little salty...

  22. Wow, you still own your first car?? That's incredible. Have you ever thought about selling it?

  23. Yeah, it's certainly a grind no doubt. I do hope the RDO economy isn't as out of whack as GTAV:Os. I also hope it is geared more toward cooperative gameplay rather than the wildly toxic PvP while in the open world.

  24. Some people forget that it's just a game. Some people would also say that cheating is fine because it's just a game. Those people shouldn't be allowed to play online.

  25. Never have, never will. I just don't see the point. IMO, I don't care about leaderboards, stats, etc. I play games for the enjoyment of it. Personally, I care more about the gameplay and camaraderie. ......likely why I prefer co-op over PvP. If cheating is so bad as to dampen my enjoyment of a game, I'll simply not play. If I've learned anything over all these years is that if there is a way to exploit, take advantage of or hack a game, there will always be people to do it.

  26. What forced microtransactions do you speak of. As far as special game editions, this is nothing new or unique in the gaming world. The ones R* offers in theirs is nearly all story-mode related cosmetics, a couple missions and shortcut items. I expect RDOs MCX model to be the same as GTAV:O where it is based on in-game cash that you have an option to buy. That is not the same as a paywall where items are purchase-only. You can still achieve items in the game "organically" by working for them. No one is forcing you to buy Shark Cards, etc. .....that's merely a shortcut for those who want that option and are willing to pay for it. I have to say..... I was hyped for GTAV for many of the same reasons I am hyped for RDR2 now. ....and I was not disappointed. GTAV delivered IMO and I even enjoyed GTAV:O to an extent. I do believe RDO will be a little different from GTAV:O given some of the interviews and information we have seen so far. What we've seen so far with the in-game footage, mechanic descriptions, hands-on experiences, etc. is a lot more than just the "cover". Too hyped? ......naw. I base my excitement on the track record of R*, my own satisfaction with their past games and the information I have seen thus far regarding RDR2.

  27. Fun cars. ....british sports cars in general for that matter. The nice thing is that you really don't need to go that fast in them to get the full driving experience and sensation. They are the definition of true sports cars IMO. I was always partial to the Austin Healey 3000 and thought it would be a cool car to own. .....although these days probably quite expensive for one that's in good shape and depending on year. What's the curb weight on one of those? I'm guessing not much more than 2,000 lbs? It'll be a hoot with a V8. I wonder how it will affect the balance.

  28. That's a tough one... Many people or more than happy to go to the movies for 2 hours and spend $20. By that logic, 6 hours of game time is all it takes. I have to argue that the quality of the game is more important than how long I actually play it. Those 2 hours you spent watching a movie were only worth it if you enjoyed the movie. I may have spent 50 hours (probably more) playing Sea of Thieves, doesn't mean it's worth the $60 (game pass is a great option btw). If I had paid for it, I would've been pissed. Then there are games like Skyrim, where you can play for (literally) MONTHS and still find something new in the game. I may have less time logged in Skyrim, but I'm more happy with that purchase than I would be with SoT had I paid for it. I can always go back and play it, even in 30 years (assuming my xbox still works).

  29. We're at opposite ends of the spectrum on The Division but I see your point. For me, it wasn't on my radar at all until Baby Bro turned me onto it, almost a year after it had been released--so for me, there was no buildup, no crushing disappointment, I only paid about $30 for the game used, and another $20 for the Season Pass to get all the content at that point, and I felt like it was a good value. I learned my lesson with Ubisoft soon after, though, with For Honor which was a total Sierra Show on launch day and for the first three months or so. I ditched that game and vowed to never buy another Ubisoft game at launch again (and immediately broke that promise when they announced The Division 2). That's why I understand the frustration of so many Day 1 TD players. Ubisoft completely craps the bed on their big releases--just look at what happened to Ghost Recon: Wildlands. The same thing happened with Friday the 13th: The Game, just on a smaller scale: developers over-promised and under delivered (although calling it "under delivering" is an understatement, right @Truth, @Cokeyskunk, @Freddie Mercury, @TheHansonGoons?), and with a property so beloved, on a game with so much potential, the total Sierra Show that game became makes The Division look like a damn tickle fight.

  30. Regardless of age, nowadays no guy should act that way. Trying to raise a son in this world where I tell him to be respectful regardless of your differences and then have others do the exact opposite. I have tried to explain they are showing him "what not to do".

  31. It was mine too only to be surpassed by the 1970 Dodge Challenger which proved elusive all of these years. The closest thing I got to that was when Dodge re-introduced the Challenger in '08 and I bought one in 2010. .....which I will continue to keep into the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, the Charger remains in a state of disrepair at the moment from sitting too long. Someday I'll get around to restoring it but for now it just sits on the side of my house. ....it's an SE with the 383 and 727 Torqueflite auto.

  32. The best argument I can give is the Division, they showed gameplay at E3 and at release, we didn't get that, we never got it. I agree that things could get shady and get shady fast. Last thing we need to do is get over-hyped before the game gets released, regardless of who else may have played it and said it is great. That person wasn't me, so it's hard for me to believe their critiques. Soon though, I will be playing and have my day, as well as the rest of you will as well.

  35. Hi Y'all, YodaMan 3D here. I play on Xbox and been gaming longer then most have been alive. I loved RDR and it is and was my favorite game of all time. When I 1st heard about it, I remember telling a friend, that it would never make it. No one would ever play it. Well he got it and when I was over at his place, he loaded it up tossed the controller to me. On my way home I stopped, bought my Xbox and RDR, started playing that night. Been on forums for years and been chasing rumors ever since waiting for the sequel. Here I am.

  37. I'm afraid that R* is going to strip customization features from the game in order to force microtransactions or get you to play online. What has me worried is - a. GTA Online. Enough said. And b. They're adding things like special outfits and black horses and special unique saddle gear for special editions of the game. To me, anything that I get in game should be achieved organically. Any outfit I get should be earned or come across organically. Any horse I get should be bought or earned. I don't wanna have things given to me behind pay walls with no effort. Besides, the fact that they are offering a pure black horse as a special edition bonus means that you can't earn one in the base game. If you could the SE bonus wouldn't be special. No pure black horses in the base game. Let that sink in. Honestly, I'm afraid that I (and this community) is too hyped. Rather like we were for GTA 5 five years ago. And we're blinding ourselves to the fact that R* has had some shady quick buck practices that strips features from the game just to net them extra profit in the past. I hope I'm wrong. I'm really excited for RDR2. I just can't keep letting myself get overhyped for things. I really need to commit to playing the game first. If you think about it, we've all determined that this will be the best book in the history of literature, just by looking at the cover. None of us have played it yet. So... As the days get closer, I find myself getting wearier.

  38. I believe in aliens. Not because I have valid proof but because I can't help but feel like there is life that exists elsewhere in the giant universe. My one friend always says that if you want to be technical if you believe in God, angels, demons, ect. you also have to believe in aliens because by definition, they are not from or of this world.

  39. I'm a female and I kind of see why you would come to the conclusion. I have seen plenty of girls play online games just for attention from guys and they will purposely "play dumb" or make sexual remarks to appeal to a mostly male lobby. I was never one to do this and when I would play with a group of guys, they all knew me on some kind of personal level. So if I did indeed suck at the game, they would rag on me for it, not help me because b00bs. I see this kind of stuff more so with the 14 to 24 age range. Most older gamers, guys and gals, don't act like this or react these ways.

  40. From personal experiences, I have a hard time trusting game companies. Their 1st priority is money then if still profitable they may concern themselves with customer needs and desires. I feel Rockstar is no different, don't get me wrong I love Rockstar games. The truth of the matter is the industry is changing because the customers are changing. More players are wanting the online shoot each other for no other reason then to shoot each other. Whether or not you feel you got your money's worth. Is it right to through endless amount of resources towards online play, when many of your fans enjoy the campaign? I am one who can't count how many times I replayed RDR, just because I enjoyed the story. I can tell you I only played the GTA5 campaign twice. Same for GTA4 and did play the dlcs for GTA4 once each. If they would continue the story, I would have played more.

  42. If I remember, @BelleStarr is a lady gamer. What do you think about this? Personally I think it's funny how kids put their bow tie on and try to act cool in front of a random gamer just because they are a girl. You're at level 99/100 on a shooter game kid, you're never gonna look cool.

  43. Sounds like you're misinterpreting people's indifference to sexual content in games as some sort of moral high ground. If you read most of these replies I believe you will see that there is a common tone of simple disinterest in the topic in this sense. It seems you're trying to create an argument where there is none. Personally, all of those other activities in RDR2 sound interesting to me as I'm sure R* also thought they would be. To be frank, I don't get the desire to have sexually explicit content in the game but okay, that's your thing. I'm just saying that folks like me don't need it or necessarily feel it adds value. I also don't believe you can't have one without the other as you seem to be suggesting. .....as if you're saying it's not okay to have graphic violence in a game unless you have sex too. I wasn't offended by the sex scenes in the Witcher but I also didn't think they were necessary either. I wouldn't have felt the game was lacking without them but that's just me.
