I can only imagine how some of those videos would start. "Howdy Miss, I hear there been some rustlin in them bushes, mind if I take a gander". Lol3 points

I bought RDR2 because I watched a youtube video about it months ago and just remembered the name, but by the time I bought it I had forgotten what was in the video, all I remembered was that I had decided to get it. So I start playing opening day, and it was kind of interesting. I'm a huge fan of the Battlefield series, so that's really more of my thing, and I found the game play through the early part of the game rather slow and not really that interesting, honestly. Then later I get to the open world, and I really don't know what is going on, it was my first time playing a game like this and I didn't even understand wtf was supposed to be happening, in fact, I didn't even understand that it was an "open world". I could barely ride my horse, had no idea how the selection of what was in my hand was working, it was all very confusing .. .. But .. The world ... wow. I mean the grass, the clouds, even compared to Battlefield 1 which I think was the prettiest game I had ever played, wtf, how did the people who made this game even come up with this stuff. It's SO beautiful. I thought that from the beginning, but once you get out into the world and start wandering around, it's just so impressive. The detail, the very obvious amount of craftsmanship that went into this game, it is so expansive. And I'm walking around looking at everything and start to figure out mechanics such as being able to study creatures with binoculars, tracking, riding my horse and getting to know it, and yes .. there is a story, and you can work towards that, and I was, .. or, am ? I think. But most of the time it seems like I'm just riding around on my horse. And yes, I could run everywhere and make the game faster, but ... for some reason I just walk, or lead my horse sometimes, walk when I'm on foot, wander around. And then after a few days of this, literally, ... I mean wtf, is this even a game ? I mean I'm enjoying just being in the game, without even advancing the story, just riding around looking at stuff, like you might if you just went out for a walk around the neighborhood. And identifying animals, and watching birds fly around, and the scenery WOW, the little lakes, rivers, the creatures, and the level of detail in the game mechanics for hunting, fishing, etc. Half the time it feels like I'm trying to build my character, and get a better relationship with my horse(s) (now I have two that I wander around with), and it's so exciting to find new places to go and new things to see. And how on EARTH did the people who made this game make so much detail on such a grand scope, such a HUGE map, and it's almost perfect, I mean, footsteps in the mud, the weather, the sounds. I don't even know if it's a game with a point anymore, and I don't even seem to care if it has a point, I've been contented most of the day learning how to use a new lure to lake fish, enjoying new species of fish as I find them. I've almost completely stopped progressing in the story, honestly. Today I deliberately avoided a story line because it was interrupting what I was doing, because I wanted to get something I needed to craft something and had to ride quite a ways to get to it. Which then turned into racing on my horse along the railroad tracks ... for ... umm ... fun, without any point. Is it a game ? A hunting simulation ? A therapy session ? A work of art to be admired ? An instructive encyclopedia and teaching aid ? At this point I don't even know. And I don't seem to care.3 points

Here, this ought to brighten your day. Just happens to coincide with RDR2s launch.......2 points

Just wondering who else is finding this useful. I use it on my iPad as my main map, and it's great! It's much easier to zoom, scroll, and set waypoints. Best of all, you can peek at it during cinematic camera view to make sure your horse isn't going off on some weird tangent, and to see how close you are to your objective. The interface for Arthur's journal is nice too.2 points

I feel they gonna patch it, its just too much noise for Sony to handle i think. And if they fix the blur its really going to look almost identical to X and fixing HDR would be a bonus.2 points

I will say that when I am completing a quest that involves traveling back to another location, I almost never stick to roads. There's less of a risk of being ambushed if you travel "as the crow flies" when finishing something. Sure, you run into the occasional terrain issue, but for the most part, it's safer. You also get the unexpected bonus of running into unmapped points of interest, which is always nice.2 points

I´m sending this video to the support team. This is exactly my problem. Thanks Mr. 4k Upscaler for the Video. I send this one, because this guy using only high quality tvs.2 points

R* games are one of the few that I leave aim assist on. I honestly cannot play GTAV without it. RDR2 seems to be a bit of a different story. Play with all the settings including the acceleration. I got mine to a point where the assist is set at its weakest but it gets me generally where I need to be and then I manually aim. I also can't handle not having it when hunting. .....makes it way more difficult than it needs to be in those cases especially when I am grinding for cash.2 points

Xbox user here. I just dropped by to say I hope they fix that quickly for you guys. Sucks to not be getting the beautiful game you see in the trailers. On the Xbox side, we're also having issues with the HDR. I've been fiddling with options on my TV to optimize for RDR2, even if it makes other games worse for the time being, since I plan on focusing only on this game for awhile. For the moment, I have HDR off, but I'll probably mess around with some more settings tonight to see what I can get.2 points

Agreed.... So is the idea that everyone walked around with a drop holster like you see in all the western movies. Many cowboys wore their holsters at the beltline like most do today. .....not talking about modern military thigh rigs btw which is a whole other debate in itself (vs. chest rigs, what some armor will allow, etc.) Anyhow, thought these photos would be good for the discussion.2 points

Hollywood. Blame Hollywood. For their stories it was more impressive to wield two guns at once. Thing is cowboys like Wyatt Earp has stated you can't shoot accurately like that, you have to aim down your sights and you can't do that with both guns at the same time. Another tidbit, most duels both shooter was within 5 yards of one another.2 points

I swear it's Groundhog day around here. Those must have been some impressive crimes. I have to try to get my bounty that high--it rarely exceeds $15 or $20. Bingo. Probably because you're standing over a dead body. That's what's happened to me a few times. Now, I either get out of there quickly, or I take the body with me and avoid roads. That usually does the trick. And, when out in the wilderness, always, ALWAYS kill the witness too. I've never had more than two consecutive witnesses to a crime, so it's usually a quick cleanup. One body on my horse, one on their horse, and then you tell that horse to flee, or you ride it yourself and have your horse follow you off-road. Dump the bodies in a ditch or in a nice shrubbery, and go about your business. If anything, the game is guilty of being a little too realistic. Folks are saying the system is broken, but in most cases now (and even back then), if "The Law" saw that you were involved in an incident, you were taken in for questioning or arrested. They have to take shortcuts in a game like this because nobody was interested in playing "CSI: 1899" and watching Horatio Caine dig through horse droppings with sunglasses making stupid puns. I can see it now: the deputy picks up a hat and walks over to Horatio, who's looking at a body with no head. Deputy: "Well, there's blood on the hat. Looks expensive." Horatio: "It appears that it was worth losing his head over it." (Cue Roger Daltrey's iconic "YEEEEAAAAHHHHH" scream)2 points

Same issue here on ps4 pro with samsung ks8000 4k hdr. There's a general haziness and lack of focus on HDR. Turning HDR off looks a bit better, but still getting significant blur around the outlines. It's disappointing - looking forward to a patch.2 points

This is why I always create a backup save before starting a new mission. It's saved my horse three times now. With some missions, you can't save during, so I try to do it before I start off on anything new, even if I'm in the middle of nowhere.2 points

Hi all, I am Andreas 32 years old from Greece. I am new to RDR2 but old gamer generally. :) Have fun to all!!1 point

Pay attention to the times they pop up if you have to replay them, chances are they will happen at the same point of day again. A lot of them are set to show up according to times like some will happen in the morning or when the sun is up and others only happen at night.1 point

Yep, I work tier 1 support (for a software company) which are the same type of folks that man the R* tickets and Twitter accounts and stuff this prolific always makes it to leadership (if not executives).1 point

....and quite honestly, this is one reason why I really like this game. I also like the fact that I can lose my horse. It forces me to exercise caution and also adds an element of tension, excitement and great relief when you know you just dodged a bullet. Personally, I only lost my horse once and that was my fault entirely (tried to beat the train). I have survived several ambushes with some really close calls. I was killed in one or two but my horse escaped without issue. When traveling along roads I will often slow down in choke points, over bridges, etc. More than once I was able to hear them talking as I approach. I will then pull my pump shotgun or repeater and either face them or run away. I also will run alongside roads or "as the crow flies" as Creed mentioned. I actually look forward to encounters like these now as I have become pretty good at reacting to them and they tend to be profitable (stuff I can sell to my fences).1 point

Glad I found you guys, thought I was turning into a master-race graphic whore) Wrote up to R* support recently with a similar issue, will post here if answered with something interesting. I can't help but start squinting and get eye strain after some time (yup, I'm getting old but still recent God of War sessions were longer and didn't have any side effects). I mean, come on - with flawless One X version in one hand and a handful of titles (like God of War/Uncharted 4 I've been playing recently) in another there must be something better for us Pro owners. Yes, I do understand that we may not get the SAME quality as One X 'cause of simple raw power, but something needs to be done.1 point

I don't mind the bounty amounts, but it definitely has been glitchy. I once got a bounty when entering a new area with no explanation at all. There weren't even any other people or animals nearby.1 point

Duel wielding is a genre trope, not a reflection of reality.1 point
-
Like Kennedy mentioned, it's a cross draw holster. I think it's apparent Arthur is a righty. It would make sense that he would want both weapons more accessible to his right hand than left. The idea for me would be to have access to two loaded weapons in a gunfight vs. one. What I don't like is that there isn't a quick button press where you can quickly switch handguns when one is empty. Personally, I think the whole dual wielding idea is what is stupid about the weapon handling in this game. I've seen trick shooters and professionals (who train religiously) pull off some cool shots but in reality, it is extremely inaccurate and anything but CQC would likely not hit the target as it is portrayed in the game.1 point

It's a cross draw holster. The below video helps explain it.1 point

You know for the time period, RDR2 seems to be overcrowded. I know it's just a game, how is it when in the wild their is always witnesses regardless of where you are?1 point

I'm pretty sure I've heard one of the gang mention that Dutch has a separate fund as well that you don't see. Greedy bastard.1 point

My mistake there, partner. I rode up over the hill and saw you going through that dead feller's pockets. What was I to think?1 point

You can also fiddle with some settings to help you. I'm a wuss, so I go for max assistance and slow movement.1 point

In the guide it says that you always pay a percentage when killed, by law or otherwise. And every time you die within an hour beyond the first time the % increases. The exception is dying in missions, of course - no penalty for that. Oh, and if you only have $10 or less - then you pay nothing either. So maybe you've found another bug? Albeit a profitable one!1 point

Ahhhh, Red Harlow. Brings back memories for sure. I remember when me and my buddy went to Block Buster to pick up games for the PS2, and come back and just game all night, Red Dead Revolver was one of my top favorites.1 point

This is what I meant by my tweet. They sold it as there are these cool interactions that are like the peds have memories or something, but they are really nothing like that. They are as contrived as the first interaction.1 point

You need to go into your consoles video settings and change RGB to limited. :)1 point

I was just playing and a cutscene played, the depth of field was super exaggerated making everything blurry. The game itself is blurry but the cutscene was even blurrier then the game play. Maybe it will be a simple fix of adjusting the DOF.1 point

Bought a ticket early on to go to saint Denise from Valentine.. get there and thought let me go to the tailor. As soon as i opened the door a man came out and pickpocketed me. I ran after him but lost him real quick. I remember getting so mad cause I had thought he stole all my money. But he didn't thank God. It felt so real though I came to a big city and got taken for a sucker.1 point

Some people are saying this is happening because of HDR, and if you disable HDR it will be ok, this information is wrong, it's happening with and whitout HDR, on every PS4 PRO the game is blurry, and once more, motion blur cannot be disabled, which is something important. Since some people don't understand i want to make a comparison, hoping they will start understand of what is going on.1 point

lol...I think that pill is for erectile dysfunction, it can also treat high blood pressure in the lungs. it is not for prolongation of sexual intercourse/smoking.1 point

I'd be lying if I said I didn't snicker every time I have Arthur take a bath. I always opt for "the help", and her hand continually dips into the water near his crotch and lingers. And Arthur usually sighs contentedly when she does. That's close enough for me.1 point

Horse perma-death, while not as bad as character perma-death would be, really adds a huge layer of danger/risk to the game. This is the main reason why I'm not going to risk getting a high quality horse - just going to stick with the freebies. Then I wont feel the sting half as bad. Maybe I'll get a high quality horse last - after I've used money to get everything else possible and have nothing else to spend cash on. Brutal mechanic!!1 point

It kinda fits, though. Early in the game, he shuts down a couple of the saloon girls with a vengeance. And isn't there a photograph of a woman on his nightstand at camp?1 point

Yeah kind of let down I can't have sex in the brothels... I am hoping they put it in for online. It would have been nice to date/romance some of the npc women if someone should choose too. Or at the very least a tugjob while getting wash.. hell all the scenes and animations are already there... No taking away from anything else.. it's an amazing game and it already has me neglecting my wife and work..lol1 point
