  1. New video from Digital Foundry. No way Rockstar can ignore this:

  2. I can only imagine how some of those videos would start. "Howdy Miss, I hear there been some rustlin in them bushes, mind if I take a gander". Lol

  3. I bought RDR2 because I watched a youtube video about it months ago and just remembered the name, but by the time I bought it I had forgotten what was in the video, all I remembered was that I had decided to get it. So I start playing opening day, and it was kind of interesting. I'm a huge fan of the Battlefield series, so that's really more of my thing, and I found the game play through the early part of the game rather slow and not really that interesting, honestly. Then later I get to the open world, and I really don't know what is going on, it was my first time playing a game like this and I didn't even understand wtf was supposed to be happening, in fact, I didn't even understand that it was an "open world". I could barely ride my horse, had no idea how the selection of what was in my hand was working, it was all very confusing .. .. But .. The world ... wow. I mean the grass, the clouds, even compared to Battlefield 1 which I think was the prettiest game I had ever played, wtf, how did the people who made this game even come up with this stuff. It's SO beautiful. I thought that from the beginning, but once you get out into the world and start wandering around, it's just so impressive. The detail, the very obvious amount of craftsmanship that went into this game, it is so expansive. And I'm walking around looking at everything and start to figure out mechanics such as being able to study creatures with binoculars, tracking, riding my horse and getting to know it, and yes .. there is a story, and you can work towards that, and I was, .. or, am ? I think. But most of the time it seems like I'm just riding around on my horse. And yes, I could run everywhere and make the game faster, but ... for some reason I just walk, or lead my horse sometimes, walk when I'm on foot, wander around. And then after a few days of this, literally, ... I mean wtf, is this even a game ? I mean I'm enjoying just being in the game, without even advancing the story, just riding around looking at stuff, like you might if you just went out for a walk around the neighborhood. And identifying animals, and watching birds fly around, and the scenery WOW, the little lakes, rivers, the creatures, and the level of detail in the game mechanics for hunting, fishing, etc. Half the time it feels like I'm trying to build my character, and get a better relationship with my horse(s) (now I have two that I wander around with), and it's so exciting to find new places to go and new things to see. And how on EARTH did the people who made this game make so much detail on such a grand scope, such a HUGE map, and it's almost perfect, I mean, footsteps in the mud, the weather, the sounds. I don't even know if it's a game with a point anymore, and I don't even seem to care if it has a point, I've been contented most of the day learning how to use a new lure to lake fish, enjoying new species of fish as I find them. I've almost completely stopped progressing in the story, honestly. Today I deliberately avoided a story line because it was interrupting what I was doing, because I wanted to get something I needed to craft something and had to ride quite a ways to get to it. Which then turned into racing on my horse along the railroad tracks ... for ... umm ... fun, without any point. Is it a game ? A hunting simulation ? A therapy session ? A work of art to be admired ? An instructive encyclopedia and teaching aid ? At this point I don't even know. And I don't seem to care.

  4. Here, this ought to brighten your day. Just happens to coincide with RDR2s launch.......

  5. Just wondering who else is finding this useful. I use it on my iPad as my main map, and it's great! It's much easier to zoom, scroll, and set waypoints. Best of all, you can peek at it during cinematic camera view to make sure your horse isn't going off on some weird tangent, and to see how close you are to your objective. The interface for Arthur's journal is nice too.

  6. I feel they gonna patch it, its just too much noise for Sony to handle i think. And if they fix the blur its really going to look almost identical to X and fixing HDR would be a bonus.

  8. I will say that when I am completing a quest that involves traveling back to another location, I almost never stick to roads. There's less of a risk of being ambushed if you travel "as the crow flies" when finishing something. Sure, you run into the occasional terrain issue, but for the most part, it's safer. You also get the unexpected bonus of running into unmapped points of interest, which is always nice.

  9. I´m sending this video to the support team. This is exactly my problem. Thanks Mr. 4k Upscaler for the Video. I send this one, because this guy using only high quality tvs.

  10. R* games are one of the few that I leave aim assist on. I honestly cannot play GTAV without it. RDR2 seems to be a bit of a different story. Play with all the settings including the acceleration. I got mine to a point where the assist is set at its weakest but it gets me generally where I need to be and then I manually aim. I also can't handle not having it when hunting. .....makes it way more difficult than it needs to be in those cases especially when I am grinding for cash.

  11. Xbox user here. I just dropped by to say I hope they fix that quickly for you guys. Sucks to not be getting the beautiful game you see in the trailers. On the Xbox side, we're also having issues with the HDR. I've been fiddling with options on my TV to optimize for RDR2, even if it makes other games worse for the time being, since I plan on focusing only on this game for awhile. For the moment, I have HDR off, but I'll probably mess around with some more settings tonight to see what I can get.

  12. Agreed.... So is the idea that everyone walked around with a drop holster like you see in all the western movies. Many cowboys wore their holsters at the beltline like most do today. .....not talking about modern military thigh rigs btw which is a whole other debate in itself (vs. chest rigs, what some armor will allow, etc.) Anyhow, thought these photos would be good for the discussion.

  13. Hollywood. Blame Hollywood. For their stories it was more impressive to wield two guns at once. Thing is cowboys like Wyatt Earp has stated you can't shoot accurately like that, you have to aim down your sights and you can't do that with both guns at the same time. Another tidbit, most duels both shooter was within 5 yards of one another.

  14. I swear it's Groundhog day around here. Those must have been some impressive crimes. I have to try to get my bounty that high--it rarely exceeds $15 or $20. Bingo. Probably because you're standing over a dead body. That's what's happened to me a few times. Now, I either get out of there quickly, or I take the body with me and avoid roads. That usually does the trick. And, when out in the wilderness, always, ALWAYS kill the witness too. I've never had more than two consecutive witnesses to a crime, so it's usually a quick cleanup. One body on my horse, one on their horse, and then you tell that horse to flee, or you ride it yourself and have your horse follow you off-road. Dump the bodies in a ditch or in a nice shrubbery, and go about your business. If anything, the game is guilty of being a little too realistic. Folks are saying the system is broken, but in most cases now (and even back then), if "The Law" saw that you were involved in an incident, you were taken in for questioning or arrested. They have to take shortcuts in a game like this because nobody was interested in playing "CSI: 1899" and watching Horatio Caine dig through horse droppings with sunglasses making stupid puns. I can see it now: the deputy picks up a hat and walks over to Horatio, who's looking at a body with no head. Deputy: "Well, there's blood on the hat. Looks expensive." Horatio: "It appears that it was worth losing his head over it." (Cue Roger Daltrey's iconic "YEEEEAAAAHHHHH" scream)

  15. Same issue here on ps4 pro with samsung ks8000 4k hdr. There's a general haziness and lack of focus on HDR. Turning HDR off looks a bit better, but still getting significant blur around the outlines. It's disappointing - looking forward to a patch.

  16. This is why I always create a backup save before starting a new mission. It's saved my horse three times now. With some missions, you can't save during, so I try to do it before I start off on anything new, even if I'm in the middle of nowhere.

  17. I'm not sure if someone has mentioned it yet, but stables. Stables.

  18. I don't believe so, but I'm not sure. They might just respawn over time with a slightly different cast, but I don't know. I'd like to know myself.

  19. In that vein I find some of the honor awards weird - loot a drunken Indian killer get negative honor; murder a klan member with a knife for no reason, positive honor.

  22. Just spitballin' here..... How about trying the maintenance feature in the stable. I forget what it is is called but it brings you horse's levels back up. .....even if they already are, perhaps this will reset any glitch there may be in that mechanic that could be limiting the horse's sprint speed. Could also try tonics?

  24. There’s been over 16,000 views on this thread so there’s clearly people not happy with the game we should try and get everyone on here to tweet rockstar with the link to the digital foundry video and the hashtag #fixyourgame They should notice us 😂

  26. I remember the old debate about refresh rates on computer CRTs and what the human eye could perceive. ....."Yer wastin' your money " (some people say as I can clearly perceive the ficker). .....hogwash. I could tell the difference back then and I can tell the difference now.

  27. Yes I think it is fake HDR too. This is really no good implementation. You can see it, when you play with the HDR brightness slider. THe whites are bleeding out if you push the brightness, but this is necessary to enhance the level of detail. Really good implementations for me with good configuration your HDR are the last two AC Titles of Ubisoft, but only on console. Yeah. The stunning HDR of Horizon Zero Dawn. THis is HDR. So I will create now a video that discribe my problems and send it to the support of Rockstar Games.

  28. I really wouldn't bother trying to get HDR working. It really is broken. It is actually a fake implementation. Not really HDR at all. I saw a guy analyze it and white levels for example only have 100 nits. With HDR, white should be around 1000 nits! So yeah, keep HDR off until R* decide to stop bullshitting 10 million people and implement actual working HDR.

  29. Your firing line. An imaginary 170 degrees (left to right) while pointed down range. To "break" that means you are pointing your weapon in an unsafe direction (potentially sweeping someone with your muzzle). Everyone else should be behind that radius. ....has nothing to do with gunfights but simply the rules of the range or anytime you are firing weapons whether that's practice, hunting, etc.

  30. To be true to the time and not saying Rockstar is. Real cowboys didn't Dual Wield, if they carried a second weapon it was so they didn't have to reload, they just re-holster and draw the second weapon. So both guns would be worn so that they could draw it with their shooting hand. It is also true that gun fighters would wear their guns on the opposite side so it was a swifter draw. So a right handed gunfighter would wear is holster on his left side and not his right.

  32. This issue with how fuzzy RDR2 look on PS4 Pro has nothing to do with what TV you are using. It is a poorly implemented rendering technique. Period. I won't deny that this is the best looking game ever made...on a platform that shows it as it is intended, being XBOX ONE X at 4K native resolution. But, on PS4 Pro, it is one of the shittiest looking games in recent memory as rendering goes. When you have games like God Of War, Uncharted 4, Horizon Zero Dawn, Shadow Of The Tomb Raider etc., all looking way sharper and clearer than RDR2, you know that something is wrong! There is even a Sharpening slider in the game settings, but it fails to achieve any meaningful result even on the highest setting. And as for HDR, it is completely broken. It does exactly the opposite of what HDR is supposed to do. However, this is also not the cause of the problem because even with HDR turned OFF, the game still looks blurry and muddy.

  33. Save and reload your game. Your horse will spawn next to you.

  34. Sony especially. Look at the PS4 thread, well over a hundred comments on it from a lot of people. How is it possible that not one of these problems was picked up in testing? Mind boggling.

  42. I've already racked up half a dozen memorable moments, a few are story spoiler related so I won't give those away. But stumbling across giant bones unexpectedly with amazing views was a good one. Being caught in a huge fire fight, struggling to survive, running and gunning then slamming some guy down and taking his head apart with a sawn off was another good one. Jack's picture bought a tear to my eye! Getting drunk in Valentine was great fun, and not what I expected The camp party was also a cool thing

  43. From the first mission where you go to the stable, I have been using the Thoroughbred that came with special/ultimate edition (not sure which gave the horse as i have the ultimate edition). Since it has a sort of mottled steel look, and I gave it a silver mohawk mane and long silver tail, first thing that popped to my mind was "Steely Dan", so that's what I named it.

  44. I think i have just found a way to remove it. Go hunting and collect 3 or 4 pelts then go back to camp and sell them, when i did that it seemed to take away the glitched one, I didnt get anything for it but at least it's gone. I removed the saddle and put it back, it still appears to be gone so try it out and let me know👍

  45. Yes in the stables. Not sure how far into the story you are but if you haven't visited the stable in Valentine yet then you can't rename your horse yet.
