I actually played the game both before and after the patch (single player) and can safely say that the blurriness and more specifically faulty implementation of depth of field and focus HAS NOT BEEN addressed in this patch. Playing in 4k SS on a 1080p tv the picture is still blurry. playing 1080p on a 1080p tv the image is sharper but the motion blur depth of field issues are still there. There is no 30 % or 40% improvement. It is either fixed or not fixed. and in this case IT IS DEFINITLEY NOT FIXED. at this point I am fairly certain that this is not going to be addressed by R* so we just have to make do with what we have.5 points

You seem to think this game is all about grinding.. While its just one aspect of the game Myself and friend where just hunting yesterday to stock up on food. In comes a four person posse and starts killing us. So we started killing them back. Basically we slaughtered each other over and over again, for over an hour. We actually tried to leave the area after 20 mins, but they killed our horses. After out horses got merked we decided to just keep killing them. Now.. we actually enjoy killing players (hate the auto aim tho).. But we stuck around for that one hour battle. People who don't care for pvp would probably have had to quit the lobby. Forcing pvp on to players who have no interest in it... isn't fun for non pvp folks.5 points

Ehm... What? - So you are one of those actually finding it fun to spawn kill everyone moving? I agree with the poster of this. - The biggest problem is all the GTA Snotnoses running around ruining it for everyone!5 points

I think Rockstar is busy with damage control, by not officially acknowledging HDR problems because there are some gullible players, who don't see nor care about any HDR problems/graphics problems. There are always people who don't know what is going on and don't have the capability to see it and thus are surprised that other observant people do see it and make (in there eyes) a fuss over it! That is a very sneaky way to cover up there own lack and/or ability and/or willingness to address the issues! As a saying goes: let sleeping dogs lie. And I think that is the main reason why Rockstar haven't officially acknowledge it in the open!4 points

Fixed. Anarchy is not synonymous with freedom. Illogical. How is it "playing the game" when you have to spend the entire session running from groups of kill squads or trolls whose only pleasure in the game is hounding and harassing folks? That's not playing the game, that's willfully signing up to be a victim. That said, this is the initial iteration of the online beta, and I doubt that this is anywhere near the finished product. As opposed to playing like a bloodthirsty Neanderthal incapable of complex thoughts outside of "KILL"? Grouping up with a posse to harass and troll solo players takes no skill, talent or ability, whatsoever. If I wanted to play "The Purge" online, then that's what I'd play. What your are advocating is complete and total lawless anarchy. If that's what works for you, personally, then that's fine, but that's not what was advertised when people purchased this game. There's nothing "legit" about the way PvP is currently structured in the beta at the moment. You can call it "legit" PvP, but it's essentially the "normie" PvP with auto aim and persistent radar identification and location of other players. It takes no skill or talent at all right now. If this is what you want, to keep it the way it is and have R* ignore the "whiners" and "normies", then you're basically advocating for "god mode" PvP, which is preposterous in a game that has an immersive single player mode bogged down in tedious levels of realism. The switch to an online mode with pervasive PvP that make it impossible for folks to have a choice at all is preposterous, lazy, and will kill off any audience outside "1337 wtfpewpewgitgudnormienoob" players. Why are your rights more important than the rights of players who don't want to be forced to endure being trolled/griefed because they're forced into playing persistent PvP?4 points

No that poor souls of killing any1 random, they suck at Battlefield . Thats why they go on killing any1 in rdr online. So i have played the full storymode off rdr2 as so on rdr, whas lots off fun. But i give it a little time so Rockstar can work on it. If it's stay's to long like this a will return my game. When i want to shoot every1 i start up battlefield not rdronline.4 points

There's a fine line between having a system which encourages careful play and creates a genuine sense of danger, and a system where it is too frustrating to play because you are repeatedly grief killed for no real reason and have any attempt to hunt, explore, shop, ride or do missions perma-wrecked. I don't know what the solution is. I've simply taken to revenge killing until they leave the game if anyone grief kills me. I keep a record of their name and will attempt to ruin their day whenever I see them on the map. Trouble is, creating such feuds means all other aspects of the game are unplayable.4 points

Appreciated. There's a difference between being glib and outright dishonesty, between fact and opinion. Full disclosure: I'm an incorrigible, incurable jackass; prone to fits of spontaneous defecating in my own trousers, so don't get too attached.3 points

Your own words betray you based on the preponderance of the evidence: Not using "normie" but the equivalent. You can lie to me and lie to yourself, but the truth will set you free.3 points

Okay. Translation: "My experience will be ruined if they listen to feedback". Translation: "My rights! MY RIGHTS!!!" What about the rights of others? Being constantly killed by a group of people when you are just trying to enjoy the online mode will do more to "kill all incentive to do missions or hunt or whatever" than having passive mode enabled. Enabling passive mode in a PvP environment literally would remove the ability to be griefed, that's it. So unless you're advocating for the ability to grief people, there's no reason to argue against passive mode. And don't feed me your recycled line about "enjoying having to watch my back"--it's disingenuous. Nobody is forcing you, personally, to enable passive mode, so having it available in a PvP setting literally does nothing to your personal experience with the game. Everything you're advocating is about enabling elitist trolling behavior, and no amount of spin or linguistic window dressing is going to change that. "forced upon" you, like a victim? Nobody is ignoring your point, we're just calling out the logical fallacies within your arguments, and the contradictory nature of everything you've said. And claiming to be "ignored" is a classic victim move. So now, you claim to be a victim of being misunderstood or misinterpreted? Ooooh, and yet another "normie" blast, (while calling it "dumb" to boot) and is that another victim statement, implying you'd become a victim of an uneven playing field if people could be passive? Oh, and is that another "watching their backs" reference? Your argument fails on multiple levels. Again, selective passive mode does nothing to impugn your enjoyment of having to "watch your back" if you opt to not activate that feature. There's no reason the two can't be on the same server, unless you're advocating for the ability to indiscriminately kill other players whenever you choose. You're beating around the bush and refusing to acknowledge your elitist desires. You want the prestige and glamour of ranking up on a full-pvp server so you can say, with pride, "I'm 1337 wtfpewpewgitgudnoob" Certified!!!! That's literally the only other reason to advocate your position, if, as you claim, it's not about being able to indiscriminately murder whomever you want whenever you'd like.3 points

i agree mostly with McLaw. killing in free roam with no negative aspect is silly. it kills immersion, promotes a toxic enviornment, and also it is NOT A GRIND. as u get the same exp. kills in standoff as you do free roam. so there truly is zero argument for letting folks play online with friends while nit having to deal with douchbags. and yes i want growng hair/beards. as well as the trapper. working for a perfect pelt just for a few more dollars is not worth my time when i can easily butcher a dozen animals in far less time and turn a quicker profit. as an immersion gamer i prefer all my actions to translate to an in game function not just an achievement. especially if i have to duck griefers for hours while doing it.3 points
-
LMAO, how can you quantify that as "30-40%"? What is your math on that? Also, NO, Online is definitely NOT an indication that the problem has been solved. Because this occurs in the SINGLE PLAYER section of the game. I have compared Online to SP on my own setup and all I can say about Online is that it is a nerfed version of the main game. Can't quite put my finger on it but it looks like lighting is simplified which may give the impression of a clearer image. People are absolutely delusional about how the patch somehow fixed the blur issue. This is a classic placebo effect in action.3 points
-
Then stop complaining about those who want anything else than JUST PvP experience! - It sounds like the only reason you dont approve this, is because it takes the FUN away from you, since you sound alot like a griefer!3 points
-
There needs to be a heavy bounty for murder or jail time if they don't have money to pay the bounty. This would force the trolls to actually have to play missions to come up with money to pay their bounties. It is so tiring hearing "I enjoy being chased, pvp honor, it's fun to have to watch your back....blah blah blah..." There is nothing wrong with a some of that in a mixed balanced game. I don't want the game nerfed, I just want people who exist online to stop others from playing to be controlled. Imagine an NFL game where the teams kept trying to kick the ball every down.... Silly right?3 points
-
I was hoping you wanted to give a longer answer to your post.. Cause the first one, did not specify what you meant 🙂 However, YES! i am one of those who want a passive mode. I like to explore alone, but also with my gang. but my gang would NEVER rape people online, cause i see no fun in that. IF Rockstar dont make TOTAL Passive mode, they should atleast remove the Red Blimps on the map.. They should only appear shortly if someone shoots at another player. (Imo)3 points

After spending a few (frustrating)hours online, here's what I think needs to be addressed: - no private lobbies available - player icons should not be lit all the time, just breeds trolls and man was there alot of trolls - you lose all pelts on your horse if you die, makes no sense, unless the horse was attacked also - There needs to be a heavy penalty/bounty for killing other players/horses (LIKE R* promised) - Players should not be able to be attacked while in an animation (skinning etc..) or they need to add a way break an animation if you see someone approaching. People sit back and wait for you to start skinning an animal and then kill you or lasso you - Passive mode????? - From what I've seen, there isn't a way to sell valuables. - You can't set up camps anywhere you want, only set locations. (and they charge you a buck each time)2 points

Totally agree with you there @Madrigalian. Example of just useless Grieffing, I was selling my hide trying to get some money for a bow, as soon as I popped out of the shop a random PvP'er lassoed me tied me up put me on his horse, took me out of town, and then shot me in the head! It would be nice to have a system that PvE'ers can flag and stay passivist mode and not be bothered by the PvP'ers, and vise Versa. Those that PvP can flag for it and go after other PvP'ers. It's an easy system to put into a game... at the start of your session you choose what mode you wish to play, your stuck in that mode until you log off.2 points

Personally, I am really tired of this argument. Been going on since before Asheron's Call. For whatever reason it always boils down to name calling and derogatory remarks toward the two styles of play. PVP'ers calling Non PVP'ers names and vise versa. I like PvP. I don't like griefers. Point is, it's just different styles of play, both legitimate. It's up to R* to decide if there's enough of a base on either side to support both. In the meantime, I will continue to hunt down griefers with extreme prejudice.2 points
-
I enjoy PvE, but understand there is want for PvP. If you want to make me deal with PvP all the time then give me some immersive suspension of disbelief. Make ‘murder’ actually a deterrent instead of a trivial penality. Flag offenders for hours even after respawn. Make bounties for ‘murder’ incremental and exorbitant, including gold and XP for tracking down a ‘murder’. Or make that penality actually have consequences, like permently loosing / dropping firearms, funds, items, and or Perminant loss of mounts. Make towns and cities raise the calls for marshals and mobs to hunt down offenders. If you want to kill other players there are events for that. If you really have to pull the trigger on a PvEer, have a consequence that is meaningful. Otherwise, speaking personally, I have no reason to buy gold (mocotransactions coming soon) to lessen the grind or continue to play in lobby after lobby of griefers.2 points
-
Incentivising co-op play would be good, and could be done with cash/outfits/honor benefits2 points
-
.....until someone finds a way around it and causes the defender to become the offender. The Division had something similar where an player would be labeled a rogue if they shot another player. .....until griefers realize they could goad victims into shooting them first and then wipe them out. It happened to me when someone came at me with guns blazing. I shot back and then was promptly killed. It wasn't until after I realized his first shots never contacted me. He purposely missed so that I would be the one who would be labeled the offender as I tried to defend myself. Griefers are gonna grief. I believe they need to do more to encourage and incentivise cooperative gameplay. They also need to introduce (as I believe they will) private / friend session options like we have in GTAO for those of us who prefer not to play in a sandbox with randoms. Personally, I like the idea of much more limited player tracking (think close proximity, LOS, etc.). This would not only make it harder for trolls but would also make player interaction much more organic IMO. Unfortunately, R* uses the same formula for missions where players are encouraged to rob and kill other players to interrupt their progress. .....it's a downward spiral as people become frustrated and seek revenge on those other players, etc. The problem with public session in R* games in my mind is that they tend to encourage conflict rather than rewarding cooperative gameplay IMO.2 points
-
Fixed that for you. I've enjoyed this thread. If I had the final say in how this gets changed/fixed it would be this; Make senseless killing horribly inconvenient. Bounties that deplete your cash and if you can't pay, you can't play (jail) for a real life amount of time. Relentless waves of bounty hunters. Make committing terrible crimes come with terrible consequences. If you're willing to pay them, ok. But this doesn't seem to be the Rockstar way. The trolling is encouraged because they spend the money online. And if not for making money, online wouldn't be around. SALT MINES!!!!!2 points
-
....yeah, the "noob" and "dumb normie" remarks are belittling. It's not fooling anyone and when he gets the reaction one would expect when someone is being insulting to others opinions, he pulls the victim card. One more to add to my growing list of ignored users. Fact is, the current state of RDO is in no way reflective of all elements that will be in the final product. I tend to take a wait and see approach but there have already been indications in the code that we will have similar session options like we do in GTAVO. If so, it makes sense that R* does not want to implement them at this point in the beta to stress test the servers and make it less complicated when dealing with issues. .....keeping everyone in one pot. My guess is that when they feel the game is stable in its current form, they will gradually begin to introduce more options for players like (possibly) private / friends only sessions.2 points
-
So if I want to play a more casual way (PvE server) and start there, and my friends choose to start their game on a PvP server, none of us should have to completely restart the game just so we can play with each other for a bit. That makes no sense whatsoever.2 points

So they named him after you? They must really love you man, keep up the good work! With so much to do offline, I have no problem waiting for the issues to be resolved (and players to be removed from the map).2 points

I just did my first post patch play on my PRO 1080p tv combo with no hdr and supersampling off. I found no fix to the blur that i believe is caused by depth of field effects. Interiors in Valentine are still blurry. Outside at night is still blurry. The sky day or night is still blurry. The fix for the blur is simple. Turning dof off will remove the out of focus depth of field blur. I will never ever never ever understand why some game makers use dof effects. An option to turn off dof should be in the setting of RDR2 like there is with GTA5 on current gen consoles. An off option for camera motion blur is also needed for RDR2.2 points

I hope they at least fix the honor system in this game, a posse started shooting at me for no reason, I steam rolled all the noobs and got countless bad points for murdering, like WTF? If someone shoot first they should be tagged as hostiles for the rest of the free roam and not count bad reputation for killing the bastards until either A. you or them leave B. lots of minutes passes and they go back to non-hostiles. (EDIT: Without a fight.)2 points

Ok so I have tinkered a little. I have 2 stables and only one horse. It still wont let me bring the wild animal inside the stable. I have 4 saddles, and it wont let you put a saddle on a horse that isnt in your stable. You cannot ride or lead a wild horse into the stable. You cannot rope a wild horse and then ride your horse into the stable, trying to get it to recognize the wild horse.1 point

My Husband & I have been trying to do the side missions and level up and save money to buy a bow for the main mission, It seems though we stay off the main roads, stay away from people that a lot of the players will literally go out of there way to just come and shoot us. We then get into a Killing spree back and forth until some one parleys. This takes a lot of hours out of our game play, we work, we have maybe 2-5 hours per day of game play... The last thing I want to do when I get home from dealing with people all day,... is have to get home and deal with the Snot nosed Murderous Children who clearly only play the game to ruin every ones day by random acts of unnecessary PvP violence! It takes precious time out of our doing missions to have to constantly stop and defend ourselves from random kiddies who constantly PvP you, everything from just riding by and the shoot you on the way by, to tracking you way out in the wilds and attacking you. This PvP is out of hand, It's passe, and with all the PvP games out there and e-sport battle Royales, PvP no longer has a relevant place in open World games... Specially when the game is based on PvE content. PvP & PvE should always be separated on their respective servers. I do not see the point of Rockstar bringing out another GTA5 style of open world game. RDR2O is basically that, GTA5 only set in the 1800's.... Back to the top of this post. Again my Husband & I are doing the main story missions and side quest, Though we can do PvP, and will kill our attacker over, and over, and over, and over...well you get the point, THAT disrupts our game play and time. There should be a way to turn PvP completely off. Another irritating factor is some of the side missions do AGAIN the GTA5 B.S. of trying to bring a mission in and it actually promotes other players to PvP and stop you!! On top of all the NPC coming after you! That Cow Stuffing needs to be taken out of the game!! Thanks for reading1 point

Maybe if you complain enough, they'll give us passive mode against NPCs and animals too. I personally hope they just replace all the guns in the game with water guns. I got a nice bit of time put in online. I've only had 2 encounters with trolls. Once I deserved it as I didn't realize I was picking herbs within a couple hundred feet of a rival mission that I could intercept. The other was when me and some randoms were hunting in an area and someone started sniping this one guy. He respawned and had though I was the one shooting him. In any case, both fights were over before the parley system even kicked in. If you can't fight back, can't make friends to play with, or want to explore. Go back to single player. That or Candy Crush.1 point

The only people ruining the game are those whose only idea of fun is exploiting the spawn mechanics.1 point

Well its really easy to create freejoin posse in game. Other 3 people will join pretty quick so you can do missions together pretty safe. Its a temporal posse which is disbanded after leader leaves the game. Trolls usually don't attack groups of players 🙂1 point

With the trinket from one of the legendary animals (I believe it's the one crafted from the legendary deer), I have received perfect pelts from both one and two-star animals (beavers in particular on the one-star pelts), so there are, in fact, ways around the 3-star pre-kill requisite. Simply depressing the right shoulder button on the controller (RB for XB, L1 for PS4) will bring up the hunting tips, including the proper weapon for increasing the chance of a perfect pelt. The tool tips are VERY specific, citing specific weapons and ammo options for optimal hunting results, usually involving choices with both bow & arrow combinations as well as firearm options. As I've said before, if you want to maintain pelt integrity on anything larger than a coyote, but smaller than a buffalo/grizzly, you can always lasso the animal, walk it down, and use the "kill" prompt when close enough ("O" on PS4). This will ALWAYS maintain pelt integrity from what it is when first viewed, and if the deer trinket is equipped, will more often than not elevate a 2-star pelt to a perfect pelt. Incorrect. As long as the proper hunting tools are being used, a headshot that strikes true and is a one-shot kill will always maintain pelt integrity. Animal size is not the sole determining factor. No. A headshot that is a killshot with the proper weapons from the tooltip will always maintain (note, "maintain" not produce--the pelt must already be a 3-star pelt, unless you've equipped the deer trinket) a perfect animal pelt. I always line up a broadside shot when possible and aim for the head using deadeye and target painting, place the cursor on the eye, and shoot. Unless the animal randomly moves, it's a guaranteed kill provided I'm within the reasonable tolerance for the weapon's range--you can't use a varmit rifle to shoot a rabbit in the head at 1000 feet, for example.1 point

Yeah, that seems to indicate that there may not be hair growth available but again, this is a beta and they haven't implemented everything they have planned yet. .....including other modes like private sessions, etc. btw. It sunlikely the game will remain in it's current state without some options for team players like they had in GTAO. Personally, I would suggest folks submit their suggestions to R* in the link several of us have provided in these threads.1 point

Normally, i am a good guy! ALSO in games! i am not the one who starts shooting at everything that moves. So i DO approve a passive mode, and i know that pains griefers , snotnosed kids, and so on. But let that be that, that would solve my complaining! - IF thats not possible, i hope they just Remove the red dots on the map, so that no one can see no one, unless they start shooting.. else would not make sence, and it would be much more fun, and more WESTERN, to actually run away and hide somewhere, and the kids actually have to FIND you, to TROLL you. Also, just a side comment.. Others than me, that thinks the hair & beard growing thing should be the same in online as in Single player? (im a sucker for realism)1 point

when you kill someone, player or NPC, the game aknowledges that you commited "murder" but there is no benefit or repurcusions to this most of the time as even getting a "bounty" goes away as soon as you die (an unpunished death). i suggest either a passive (pve) server or private rooms where its only open to invite and friends. (i believe GTAo has this fearure). there are hundreds of games to play if you just want to shoot people and have it mean absolutly nothing. as it stands now the whole map is just one big death match game. i agree with the others when i say i wont be playing if it continues to be nothing more than "CoD cowboys". an intersting idea might be to be able to place bounties (like GTA) or a jail system where basically you cant play cause your toon is in jail for "x" hours because you got caught being a dickhead. while i know execution of these systems is complex and takes time. this is a beta so maybe if we continue to put our thoughts out there rockstar will make attempts to move away from grief supporting systems to a system that punishes players who just want to slow progress of others for thier own enjoyment. remember this is a BETA. the dual purposes being, to figure out what is broken and get feedback as to what people play and how. i think amongst adults (the people with money to buy the game) we want a western adventure with our friends far more than we want to "compete' against people we dont know. these are just my thoughts on this topic. agree or dont and go ahead and post thats what betas are for.1 point

Yes they have certainly been busy. Well done and thanks to Rockstar for making such a massive amount of fixes in a comparatively short period of time. That said, some of the bugs were darn frustrating!1 point

GillyMcCuz on XBL 100% the game other than cave paintings, wind chimes and about 10 more bear fights. Looking for as many folks to add me and we can hop in and posse up whenever I get to play. I work 45hr weeks but usually on 12-4am (UK)daily, if not working more hours playing. Should be on tonight as I'm pretty sure I bought and played on day one, or maybe only installed, we'll see. But please add me. Mature, 28, chef, gamer. Cheers matey's!1 point

Does it matter where people go? At least they know what they are getting into. I mean, i would mostly play Hardcore mode if it was added.. but not just for pvp. And If people want to swap over just for pvp and come after me, id be fine with that. At least if i just wanted to screw around in friendly, the option is there. Especially for people who don't want to pvp. Much better than passive mode. Because without a proper friendly mode.. People will beg for passive mode. And they might get it. Passive mode was the band aid R* added to GTA O.. because they where too stubborn to make a friendly lobby. And passive mode, ends up being used by trolls too once they lose the advantage in PVP. And passive mode SUCKS!1 point
