I still enjoy watching Home Alone, so what! Hope you all have a great Christmas. I probably won't be on before then so thought I would say it now. Wishing you all some good times, great gifts, banging food, and no family feuds. I got a long drive myself so I am not looking forward to it but I plan on going to bed early Christmas Eve. Feel free to just use this as a general Christmas thread if you want. Wish others Merry Christmas, share what you got for other and what they got for you, talk about the food you'll be having, anything goes!3 points

Schofield without a doubt. It is superior to the other revolvers especially when paired with a second for dual wielding.2 points

I think we all know how this is going to go, but RDR2 and RDO have a rich tapestry of characters that leave quite the impression. I never really gave it too much thought, but I came across this beauty on Reddit yesterday and it still cracks me up: I'm sure Dutch will get plenty of consideration, too, but I really hate Micah. So, who do YOU hate?1 point

I've always noticed some strange symbols on a tree right outside this house but you can't see all of them for some reason. Recently I learned if you stand back farther from the tree the rest of the symbols become visible, but then you're too far away to see them properly. I also heard that burning the tree helps make them more visible. So I used a combination of that and stood reallllllly far away and used my binoculars to get a really good screenshot of the symbols. It looks like they are mirror letters that say LEADER, with the last character up for debate. It looks like it could be either C or X but a lot of people think it's a K (for Kraff) There's also a turtle symbol that's used by the Chelonians on the house. Anyways, I just thought I'd share my findings1 point

Today I tested Online for an hour. I think it was enough. Then I powered off my PS4. The game is beautiful, we all know. Now I think back to RDR in 2010. What do we have here ? Nicer graphics, great. New story,ok, it's finished. DLCs ? ok, not yet. Online ? Beta, fine, and to be honest RDR original with undead nightmare is much better than this. So at the end....aren't we just repeating the whole RDR "package" ? Somebody passes hours and hours killing others...well...tons of games to do that, and a lot faster and better. I don't know...I'm rethinking all of it. Am not sure about anything anymore. I don't know, I just don't know. Maybe the psycological hype we had in the last two/three years blew a big bubble...and now it kind of exploded....for me at least...don't know. Just sharing what I was thinking. Not being negative. Hope not to disturb anybody. Any comments will be glad to read. Maybe I need some input...oh well. Have a good evening, ciao from Italy.1 point

It would appear that there is a limit to how many times you can reset a specific challenge, and that number is 10. I got the one where you sell herbs to a doctor to lX, and it wouldn't allow me to go any further. So if anyone was wondering if there is a limit to it, then yest, there seems to be, and it's 10 times.1 point

@Abysstic You're absolutely right. The Schofield would be faster to unload and reload due to the top break design and the way the empty cases were ejected. .....and yes, it was designed as a cavalry pistol that could be unloaded / reloaded one handed if needed. Schofields also came in a variety of calibers (e.g. .44 S&W, .45 Schofield, etc.). They were not vastly inferior to the .45 Colt ammunition found in the SAA design and by contrast, were quite effective. I own a Ruger Blackhawk which is essentially modeled after the same single-action design. While I can unload that pistol rather fast, it's nowhere near as quick as a Schofield would be. You still have to rotate the cylinder and eject each spent casing one by one. It's funny..... The "Cattleman" is actually the name of the model Uberti makes that replicates the old Colt SAA design.1 point

Yes I think the ultimate take away from this for me is to avoid messaging abusive players in future, as for preventative measures I've been following similar guidelines to ones recommended on these forums since day one, that's most likely why this was my first real negative experience in RDO. Going back to your earlier point though Kean while it is true I was in violation of Mircrosoft's service agreement by using hatespeech/abusive language; those guidelines are in place to prevent the harassment and abuse of vulnerable or sensitive individuals. Not only was I not harassing nor abusing the player (in fact the opposite was true) I highly doubt the player was even offended by my minor use of vulgarity. It's pretty evident he abused the report system to further abuse and harass me so I do take issue with the implication that I did anything wrong at all. I also take issue with reporting anyone for vulgarity unless of course is part of an unprovoked series of harassment, being sent mean words online just isn't that big of an issue for me. You're entitled to have a different view on this of course.1 point

I recently discovered something pretty cool about challenges that most I've encountered havent known about. *For a lot of the challenges you complete, you can actually restart them. When you do this you receive... .2 Gold per challenge (may be different depending on the challenge). For example.....if you have already completed your challenge for killing 1000 enemies, instead of just receiving your buckle and XP you can go to your options window, click on "progress" then go to awards, head to the "Kill 1000 Enemies" challenge....then at the bottom you'll see a button to press to "Reset Challenge". Doing this resets your counter back to zero and puts the Roman Numeral "I" next to the challenge icon indication you have reset it. Exiting the menu will show .2 gold added to your wallet and you are free to repeat this an unknown number of times. NOT ALL CHAALLENGES CAN BE RESET. Only certain challenges offer this. (Typically the more difficult challenges involving killing or collecting 100 or 1000 tasks. I think you may even still be granted the XP also but cant recall as I discovered this by chance and wasn't able to observe all the particulars. I wish I knew this 3000 dead enemies ago. There are also a few easy ones also like "Kill 2 animals in one explosion 20 times. Or sell 100 plants to the doctor. Here's hoping you discover this post if you weren't aware so you get the maximum rewards for all those tasks we do everyday. ENJOY!1 point

He did cross the line, but to say they did nothing wrong either. They spawn killed him. Why? Was he a threat? We understand the game allows that, but why must it be the only way players play it out. Why is the answer have to be a person has to find a different server, just because player or players are just being asses? Oh, yeah cause the game allows it and they have no self control. @Saltyballs If you don't get banned, I would probably try to avoid personal conversations with players you play against in the future.1 point

I hate Micah with a passion right from the start of the game when he went after Sadie. I felt pity for that shop owner given how he lost his own son in such a tragic way. Doesn't excuse what he did, but I did spare him. I also hate Miss Grimshaw. She's a bitch!1 point

A little more info and a video: "Songs include classics such as “Deck the Halls,” “We Three Kings,” “O Holy Night,” and more." Pretty cool IMO. There's quite few of them and they all seem to be full length. I got a chuckle out of it.1 point

Depends at what point in the game... Dutch and/or Micah definitely. Oh and that shop owner that had a kid in a sailor's outfit chained in the basement. I did kill him, but he always comes back... I know there are a few more...1 point

Cattleman should be the fastest to unload, and slowest to reload. That was their design. They are still made today, you can get a brand new one for about $600 bucks. Not so the other two. Oh yeah the shoot big fat heavy boolits. <---A term none of have ever heard of. But then that is about the real ones, not the watered down game versions. I would argue this list to the devs all day long. The double action and Schofield are smaller calibers, yet the stats do not reflect this. https://gamewith.net/red-dead-redemption2/article/show/1154 The damage chart is a joke. The Colt should be 1/3 to 1/2 more damage due to the huge chunk of lead they spit out. BTW the range is off too, the Cattleman will not have the range of the smaller faster bullets for the other two. Rate of fire is another joke. The Colt SAA is still the fastest gun in the west 100 years later. The single action is twice as fast as any double action. If you look at cowboy shooting competitions or fast draw, you will never see a double action, they are just too slow have to draw the hammer back and rotate the cylinder all at one. The Cattleman is fan fired for incredible speed. (fan fired is when you hold the trigger down, with your right index finger, and use the bottom of you left have to pull the hammer back as fast as you can. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMz1EMG2dsg The only part of this video not true is the empty hole over the hammer. They have to say this do to lawyering up all firearms after 1980. If you put 6 cartridges in and set the hammer all the way down in the rest position and bump it, it will go off, Ive done it lots of times to show folks. The first click is the safety click, it draws the hammer off of the primer. Ive hit mine with 2x4 on the hammer, and its never gone off. click 3 is half c ock, so you can rotate the cylinder freely, and then full c ock, tap the trigger, drop the hammer. Now you know where the terms "dont go off half cocked" and "Put the hammer down" came from. You learned something today Still going with a pair of Cattlemen. Despite how wrong Rockstar got it.1 point

Nintendo's primary focus is for kids 6 to 15. It has been that way since the 90's. I am fine with that because there are games that work for all ages, even adults like Zelda, Smash Bros, Mario Kart and the like. The thing that I don't like is how they made it about taking with you so the style of the console and the controls as they are without buying extra accessories is just annoying.1 point

I don't think the term has been overused personally. If you ask folks that have been using the label you'll likely get an immediate reaction form most that missions are not the same thing. That is an event that other players are invited to play as adversaries. Those particular missions are PvP events. Those who have been complaining about trolls have been very descriptive in what they consider griefing in these threads.1 point

I dunno if it'll fix it, but next time you're in a mission screen, try changing up your starting weapons. You can also buy ammo there, which a lot of people don't realise.1 point

It would be helpful, but they'd get no end of interuption if they did that. People would be constantly asking "is it done yet?".1 point

Translation: I blew through the game so fast that I'm now bored and it's ruined for me, so I want to deprive others of any enjoyment so they're as dull and lifeless on the inside as I am. Translation: Anything that isn't explicitly banned is permitted. This is the same logic that allows sociopaths like myself to justify morally reprehensible actions with no fault or presumption of guilt. Unless said person IS a member of the development team, he or she has no idea what their intent is, and are projecting to justify their own actions. For almost 100 years, the United States allowed slavery because there was no law against it. I suppose that made it okay, too (sarcasm). Translation: I'm an emotionless monster incapable of genuine feelings, so I have to feed off the extremes of others to have any sort of satisfaction. There are a LOT of people like this in Corporate America who have nothing better to do than provoke people into a reaction. Translation: I'm so incredibly myopic and short sighted that I didn't even consider the fact that if I get people to quit, there's fewer people to abuse, limiting my opportunity to do so. I'm the sort of person who wins a year's supply of pizzas and eats them all in a week because I have no self control or awareness. Translation: Mommy and Daddy gave me everything I ever wanted in life. Ethan Crouch is my role model. Translation: I'm a walking contradiction: I have to ruin the game for others so that it isn't ruined for me. Your own enjoyment of the game means nothing as long as I'm happy. Rules for thee and not for me! Translation: My parents and teachers gave me participation ribbons and trophies for everything in life, so I have never learned the value of hard work or self-improvement. As a result, I claim to be emotionally damaged because I can't face the truth that my pain is caused by my own laziness and awareness of my own lack of self-worth as a human being. The despondency is why I lash out at others, because I want to, (as the always eloquent Mike Tyson once said) " stomp on their testicles so you could feel my pain." Pretty accurate analysis of the PvP DZ. I'd argue that playing PvE Survival gave you that same experience without the grief of the regular DZ. Sure, mobs didn't respawn, so it wasn't quite as farmable, but essentially, it's similar enough. It also provided (for me at least) the most fun version of the game. They also made a critical change to the way the DZ functions to give PvE players an opportunity to avoid "kill squads". Anyone that goes rogue is visible on both the minimap and large scale overlay, so it's simple enough to avoid them. And if a player in your vicinity decides to go Rogue, the days of them simply bushwacking you from behind and unloading an entire mag into your back are gone. They have to actively select it from their menu and there's a cooldown. You get a notification that someone near you is going Rogue, and have time to prepare. Griefers can't bait you into going Rogue by diving into your line of fire anymore to make you the aggressor. Sure, coordinated groups can camp spawns, but anyone going into the DZ has the ability to fast travel to any number of other spawn points away from those clowns and farm different landmarks. It's easy enough to avoid them with the smallest amount of planning and situational awareness--It's the DZ, and mobs will spawn right on top of you if you dither. I'm in a different place on The Division, having only come into it about a year after it was released. My perspective is VERY different from people who were hyped up by the E3 presentations and promises that never materialized on consoles--I came aboard right as the critical patches and content updates were being deployed that made it a MUCH different game (exotics, sets, incursions, Survival, the Underground, etc...). If I was a launch player, I probably wouldn't have been as forgiving of the initial experience. Looking more forward to the PvE online portions of TD2 more than I am RDO in it's current state, though, I can tell you that much.1 point

Thats exactly why it horrible.. Would have been better and smarter to simply add pvp and pve lobbies. OR have no pvp at all.1 point

You definitely need to be using it, it does feel underwhelming compared to the single player's version of it, but there types of ability cards that augment your dead eye. For example one ability allows your friends to deal more damage while your dead eye is active, some allow you to absorb a headshot without dying - so, it is very useful but not in quite the same way as single player. I found that the 'paint it black' ability in online is good for long range fire fights where your lock doesnt reach your target, if you pop dead eye you can 'tag' your enemy and hit them from greater ranges - id say if you're not using dead eye, your missing out1 point

Oldest PC I had was probably an Intel 32-bit processor with Windows 3.1. We also had terminal-like computers in my house before that, but they were mostly for dialing into an inventory/bookkeeping system. My personal PC's have just been constantly upgraded. My current specs are an i7 6700K, GTX 1070.1 point

I will wait until I see what they offer. After all, they had portrayed the stupid and insulting "parlay" system as an "anti-griefing" measure. The idea that people not interested at all in PvP should have to be subjected to repeated killings and that Rockstar putting in a parlay where we might occasionally get a 10 minute break from it... and that Rockstar at least initially thought the this stupid parlay system was something that PvE players would be PLEASED with... Let's just say that my confidence level that Rockstar will actually do something to stop the griefing is very low right now. Until I see an actual solid anti-griefing system in place that will actually work, Fallout 76 will be my pew-pew home.1 point

I agree with several of your points except the highlighted remarks..... What some may see as "boring" others see as fun. The campaign was PvE and that wasn't boring IMO / IME. PvE online in RDO also wouldn't be boring if there are still activities players and their friends can participate in, NPCs to interact with, etc. I also don't believe in the idea that offering PvE sessions will somehow make Free Roam a troll-only zone. We can already see that they don't need a separate mode to do this. Trolls are going to troll regardless. GTAVO already provides private sessions and they also still force PvE'ers into public sessions by only making certain activities (the most lucrative activities) available in public sessions only (e.g. VP and CEO businesses). Personally, I hope they don't do exactly the same in RDO but there are still way to get PvE'ers into Free Roam. They could make the reward match the risk using bigger payouts, etc. ......but when PvE'ers just want to have fun with their mates, explore the open world, play activities in peace, etc., it would be nice to have that option.1 point

i can only stand to sit and play cards for like an hour at a time, maybe 90 minutes if it's going well. then i get bored and have to go do something else. I only kill the others if they do stupid stuff like taking my cards repeatedly. I tend to mostly play first base though. So i'll play for an hour or so, then go hunt, or fish, or whatever, then go back and play more later, may or may not kill them all when i leave It keeps my honor in the red to off set the missions and stuff that give you white. And maybe i'll get some players that will play better so i can win. I did shoot the dealer last night, but that's after playing for an hour or so and finally getting a 4 hit hand (started with 3/13 and hit it up to 19) and then the dealer hits twice and gets a 20.1 point
