I play this mainly to chill with my real life friends. That is the biggest reason I really play any online game. I personally grind because I will pick up a new game in the next few weeks and want to have at least $20k before I do. If you enjoy something, it isn't really a grind. I enjoy most of what this game offers outside of Collector. The way the game is throwing money and gold at you , leads me to believe next update will be pricey. Reason alone to grind.3 points

Much like what the others have said, but I see the game really as giving me an environment to have fun in, rather than a game with an end result. I have spent the past two years playing Elite Dangerous, and there's the same thing going on there. I have billions of credits, all the ships and kit I could want, but I love just heading out exploring in my ship. I came to RDR at Christmas (thanks, kids!), and tried online for the first time six weeks ago. I'm now level 49, high level in all three careers, have a few horses and most of the weapons and am loving it. Not because I am nearing the end, but because I love being a cowboy! I set small goals - at one point I really wanted a pair of custom Schofields, then it was a scoped Springfield rifle, then a camp upgrade or a particular horse, but basically I don't need any of that I'lll engage in and love any new career they bring out, but I don't need it - I just love tooling around and having those odd encounters with other players. So I'm here for keeps, just for what it is.2 points

Most definitely. They said as much in a recent interview regarding expansion of roles and the introduction of new ones .....also properties, etc.2 points

Yes, especially depending on what version you buy. I read that they have added missions and bounties I think that we did not get in rdr2 story mode on console. Not to mention the possibility for mods to both the online and story mode will most likely have an impact and will be slightly different than what we all experienced on either ps4 or xbox 1. They did an article recently about the pc release and I think it was in that article I read that, I cant quite remember, but if you search and read up on everything that was released in the past 2 weeks, you will find it. I for one wont be playing it on pc, But I wish I could. I used to build gaming rig pc's, it was a hobby of mine that I loved!! I built myself 5 or 6 over the years, every two years I built a new one, new motherboard, chipset, memory, etc.. I woudl start with a crazy platform I knew would perform top of the line for that time, and then go, almost every single one I built cost me in parts alone, $2500, then my time to not only assemble it but then load it, optimize it then overclock it, I used to score in the top 1% of 3dmark back in the day, back then I was called Lumperthegreat, I once helped a kid in Sweden hot flash his bios chip over the net, lol I was super into it and was very capable. But my life has changed in many ways over the past 10 years, I hurt my back working, had 2 surgeries etc.. and was never the same physically so I no longer do that work, the work I did was masonry, I owned and operated my own restoration company and made really good money for me, usually around $2500 a week and this was from 2000 til 2008. So to build a $2500 pc was nothing to me, I often woudl buy 2 motherboards when doing a build so I coudl do some extreme things, like the pencil trick and hot flashing bios chips, etc.. My point is I cant afford to build one these days. I wont play it on pc unless I can build a pc that can run the game at the highest res and no lag or slowdowns, if that is even possible with todays tech, I think you can do it, but it would cost. For me the only reason to do it was to have an experience you simply could not have on a console, and for years, I did. When the xbox one x came out, I was imrpessed and realized, this is really good, especially for a $450 console, yeah my pc build would be better, but woudl also cost likely 5X as much, so unless I can get 2X as good for 5X the money it just isnt worth it to me. If I could afford I woudl love to build a nasty gamer just for rdr2, but alas it isnt in the cards. What I can tell you is if you do plan to buy this game on pc, you most likely will need at the very least, a solid cooling system, a great video card, a fast and large hard drive, and a super power supply, plus chipset with the correct drivers to make it all work well. Yes you can play the game on far less, but I dont know why you would want too, this game is so beautifull that the only way to see it is in all its glory and that would mean 60 fps or higher at all times on 4k, makes me drool just thinking about it. But if you dont have the money to upgrade your gaming rig and you cant afford to build a new one, you can still grab either console for under $500 and they way they optimized the game to run on these it is really nice!! It isnt perfect and yes there are frame rate drops way under 30 at times, but that is to be expected for $450 with a game as detailed as this one. If you try to run this game on your old pc or an older gamer good luck, you will most likely tax it to its limits and likely burn parts, like I said you will need a killer psu and solid platform then really good cooling to keep it from frying your chips. I am jealous of the folks who will be able to do it, it is a niche group, like 1% of gamers go to that extreme, but once you see a game like this in all its glory and you cant do anything to make it lag, there really just isnt anything like that in the gaming world. The best part if you do have one or get one or build one, is pc games ALWAYS have benefits you can not get on consoles, modifications, extra content, higher graphics settings, etc.. For me, maybe in 5 years when pc parts have evolved again a few times and todays tech drops in price, what woudl cost $2500 today will cost around $800 and at that point I might, maybe build one just for this game, but who knows what will happen in 5 years time, so all I can do is day dream about it for now.2 points

i bought that before the stew pot. use it all the time, more than the stew pot1 point

yeah like I've told others, its not based on players, its based on camps and how many people are camped in that area. People are using their camps more than they ever have in the past because now they have purpose, so when people want "better" hunting areas they put their camp in key locations along with 20 other camps eventually thinning out the animal spawns because they can't spawn period. Also i believe the game places you in lobbies near other/the majority of players so when you first try to put your camp down it either doesn't let you or there are 10 other camps in that general area. Before no one cared about their camps, so they would just leave it wherever even in the middle of the dessert, or up in the hills because they were irrelevant.1 point

Im sure they will do the worst job possible. Unless it involves players cheating/modding money..then they will do what ever they can to 'fix' it. Alls I can say is fear the horse balls. I remember this from GTA O. Sure it suck having modders ruin games. But that video is beyond funny (OMG is sooo realistic *koff fake news) I can see it now. Modder teleports player to a barn and 50 horses just start running a train on someone. lmfao1 point

You don't miss what you never had. Once you have one, you may find you use it more often than you thought.1 point

If you have 10 of something in your satchel and you happen upon another collectible of the same type you won't be able to collect it so you are missing the opportunity for the xp and $ value for that item. I get that this doesn't matter to you at your level or your method with using the cheat maps but other players may not play that way or be at that level so I felt it was important to point this out. If you find collectibles just through the in-game maps and by chance you will end up with an imbalance of having more of certain items than others (duck & goose eggs are a perfect example of this or the abundance of chocolate daisy & cardinal flowers vs the others).1 point

@EaglesLanding I love fast-travel at my camp and my Posse members would whine and moan if I took it away. They weren't so sure they wanted or liked it in the beginning but they are hooked.1 point

SPEED!?? MY BRETON ROCKS. With proper saddle and stirrups (NOT the Delgado because I own that too), my steel grey Breton is rated 9 Speed and 6 Acceleration. Does anybody honestly need more than that? And Gambarro is smarter than the other horses, e.g. when I am dismounted in a furious gunbattle, he does not flee. He takes himself to safety which is never more than 40 or 60 feet away, returns less than 2 seconds after whistling. He doesn't run off into the great unknown. He will whinney at snakes but not rear-up, and pulls his head hard left or right to warn me of a gator nearby. As much as I love my Turkoman (Añejo) with the same stats, there's no comparing In the heat of battle or natural danger. I've already eliminated a couple of horses from my stable and will probably pare it down to just three: Turk, Nokota, and Breton.1 point

it really shines now when you have a GOOD campsite... fast travel anywhere you want... fast travel back to camp should come with a discount on fast travel however... 50%?1 point

Well, I have a daily system, no matter what, and to skip to the end and answer your question. The future for rdr2 holds many promising things. We are told, possibly properties, other businesses, vehicles, new horses and weapons, etc.. So you will go through the progression and when you get to the point where you have everything you currently want that is available, you start saving,s so when the "Winter update" or whatever the next big update is that comes, you will be ready to dive straight in. When this update hit, I had $11000.00 and around 300 gold bars, I was very happy to buy everything that came out and enjoy the new stuff while running my new businesses. Now, here is what I do to keep from getting bored. I am level 240 something, I have around $7000.00, 50 gld bars or a few less after today, ( I bought a bunch ore stuff I didnt need). Everyday I have a system. I start by checking my daily challenges as these pay gold. Then as I am doing them, I also feed Cripps to run my camp, and of course some of the challenges are usually doing sales missions, and re supply missions, plus feeding him carcasses, pelts, etc.. so I do that too, I also collect the whole time, no matter what else I am doing, then after I am nearly done, I make sure to get the ones that are daily challenges, the collections I mean, Ill get whatever they are asking for. Now as soon as I am done with my daily challenges, I then first check on Cripps, give him whatever he needs, then as long a the bounties are done, and all other challenges I am going to do that day, then all that is left is to open my satchel and see what my collections are looking like. If I see any collection with 3 or less items missing, say 7 out of 10, or 6 of 9, etc.. Then I make a list of the items I need and I spend some time and go get those items, so I can then go see Madam Nazar and sell anywhere from 4 to all of the collections. That way, as they build up I sell them off and make a good amount of money everyday, or sometimes Ill skip a day so every other day. at least 3 or 4 times a week Ill go sell 4 to all of the collections and make thousands of dollars each time I see her. So, thats what I do. I am excited to see what comes next, after reading the recent article from R* about how they want every player to feel the progression and SLOWLY make their way from poor to wealthy I am very confident that once you own everything you want, and dont really have anything new to do or buy, you just start racking up gold and cash for the next update. Usually twice a month we will get new stuff via our weekly updates on Tuesdays, it isnt a hard and fast rule, but it often works out that way, I like being on top of that stuff. There is nothing in game currently that I dont own or want. But those daily challenges and the promise of gold keeps me playing everyday. Usually Ill come on and 4 to 6 hours will fly by because I am checking items off a list as I outlined above, it feels like a system so I just follow the plan to stay in the game, then I get surprises, like dynamic events, unexpected finds, etc. Today while getting my "pigs" at Flat... station, I found 2 donkeys, I grabbed one and put my mic on and was laughing, a few people around me that were doing their own thing noticed, I called them out and said, "Hey check this out" and I rode circles around them to show them how funny it looks, then I hopped off one and grabbed the other, well me and a random player had about 10 minutes of fun goofing around riding donkeys, it was really funny, I made a short video even. that was just today, some days many things like that happen, and other days not so much, but all in all, it keeps me coming back everyday, not worrying at all about tomorrow, I know if I keep working my plan, I will be ready for anything that comes next. Thats just me, IMO it is fun to have a strategy and work a plan.1 point

Yes James, the Breton is much better IMO I like everything about it. The trotter might be a little faster but not so much that it would make any real difference, the Breton is no slouch, they are fast too. Criollo is the fastest with specs, then the trotters and maybe Turks, then I think Breton, BUT to be honest, the Breton to me handles better, feels better and to me it is very important that I dont get bucked off, I play a LOT, and it is multiple times a day I run into cougars, wolves, bears, snakes, etc.. and gun fights? lol by the dozen man, so yeah, I am sick and tired of having my horse bail on me, I have no desire to ride my Trotters at all to be honest since the new horses, I dont know that I will again either, I just dont have a need for a horse that is so skittish. The money if flowing in this game right now, try a Breton level 20, bonded to level 4, you decide, its a few bucks, but I guarantee you if nothing else you can use it specificaly for jobs where you KNOW the Trotter will freak, but I think once you ride one you will enjoy it. I own both Trotters, they were my favorite horse for a long time, I never thought Id like another horse more, but new things keep on coming. For sure to each his own, for me, Breton, Kladruber, Turkoman, Trotter in that order.1 point

Well, there is typically no intended "end game" in these types of titles. It's all about content to help keep them thriving. A lot of people hate MTXs but without them, the games would not exist past a certain point. .......but that's never a sure thing either because without good, continual content to maintain an attractive product, players won't stick around. In R* games like GTAO and especially RDO, they are supposed to be environments where players interact and continue to develop / grow their characters. GTAO has been running for 6 years now is one of the most (if not the most) successful GaaS model in the industry. There are no signs of it ending anytime soon so obviously, people still feel attracted to the game and what it continues to offer. In a recent interview with R*, they discussed the future of RDO and it's content. We can look forward to expansion of the existing roles including new ones. As for what to spend your money on, they are looking at introducing things like properties, businesses, etc. Heists are good possibilities as well. I can see a lot of these things intermingling but also as brand new seperate opportunities. There is no "end game" in RDO. People play because they enjoy the gameplay experience. As long as folks have a reason to stick with or keep coming back to RDO, they will. R* is clever in that respect as they typically offer new incentives to people in the form of weekly bonuses, daily challenges, etc. .....and with the new roles, we are now seeing weekly bounties, collectables, etc. ....a page from the GTAO playbook. ....and remember, new content is always added so the gameworld simply keeps expanding. RDO will be very different in a year than it is right now. It will feel much more robust as it does now by comparison to when it released.1 point

I'm not saying no exclusives for PC. .....just confirming some of those were early release for PS4 owners that were later made available to XB1. I just don't know off hand if everything they listed was in the console versions.1 point

I love having the fast travel at camp. I am able to go to and from camp to where I need to in a snap. It's great when your across the map and realize you need a resupply run. Posse members can use the fast travel at camp as well. Posse members can contribute to Cripps butcher table at camp but only leader can start missions for Cripps. I have my posse fill their wagons then they all load up Cripps with supplies and materials.1 point

We are able to switch between the two options. So if you want to go back to your metal, you can.1 point

So after trying to find a way to rank up, I found it - collecter, all I can say is OMG, and heaps or cash too, the only downfall is no gold. My question is, what keeps you guys grinding and or playing? Please don't get me wrong but do you ever feel like you are grinding for like nothing and not really seeing the end game? It kind of feels like I am not playing a game these days and am working a job lol. I will soon have every single ability card maxed out, then I can have all weapons, get all the pamphlets. I find myself asking and having this negativity that one day all this money I earn in the game will forever sit there (when the game reaches its end life span for example like how nobody plays GTA4 Online to this date) I see the future and looking back and thinking "why did I bother earning all that money and for what?" Honestlt don't mean to sound negative but just wondering if any of you get these thoughts? OCD is definitely at play, it is just facts and sad that one day (a very long time from now atleast) nobody will play anymore, for example if a Red Dead 3 comes out, then all that grinding was for? Sorry I can be weird I just wonder if anyone else sees what I think lol Still have not bothered trying to get better at showdowns, I have an excuse not to play them now as collector smashes them in terms of money and XP now?0 points
