  1. I am on PlayStation. It very well may have been me I suppose. I like doing goofy random yet completely harmless things when I find other players around. It also tends to get me shot at a lot, but that’s half the fun. Sometimes I go into towns, climb the highest rooftop I can where everyone can see, and dance the prospector’s jig. Almost without fail, everybody who passes by pulls out their rifle and aims at me while they try and decide wether I’m just a drunken idiot, or the set up for some elaborate trap lol.

  2. Shes' in the wagon, names Becky😜 Defensive: pre F.P update, I spent 99% of my time in defensive. Post update: 0% in defensive. I wanna see those trader wagons.

  3. There are things I don’t like about defensive mode but roaming around as a bright blue dot seems to just broadcast to most people “I’m looking for trouble, let’s have it”. By far the best thing about defensive, which makes it worth opting for, is that idiots can’t lasso you.

  4. ......which might explain why and how they were able to hogtie you. If you're not interested in messing with others or being messed with yourself, I'd turn it on. When you're in Offensive Mode, it basically broadcasts to folks that either 1) you simply forgot to put yourself back into Defensive Mode or 2) you're ok with being attacked or attacking others. While Defensive Mode doesn't make you invulnerable to attack, it gives you a big advantage against your aggressor(s).

  5. Not sure if it counts as griefing. What they get out of it... Explosive rounds to the head.

  6. Not saying all groups are bad. BUT.....a lot have that tough guy pack mentality when they have the numbers. When solo I usually stay clear of groups , don't wave or anything. I'm like a ghost. Situational awareness is key. I'm not ex law enforcement, but I do have experience in security. I make it a habit in real life and in video games to always know what or who is around me. I don't trust anyone running towards me in this game unless you are on my friends list. lol DTA

  7. She obviously didn't get the memo about the donkey being great as she tried to steal my ride!

  8. I see attacking rival wagons as a totally legitimate part of the game and not griefing at all. Having said that I would like to see it trigger a decent bounty, if only for a while to alert bounty hunters. When stealing these supplies we're playing bandit so it would make sense. It would also give the bounty hunter players something to do which they were sold but is sorely lacking. Another point not made so far is just how much those wagons are worth to a good size posse. With 625 dollars for a long distance delivery and six posse members scoring 300 each that wagon becomes worth close to two and a half thousand. It's worth making friends out their folks.

  9. I know everyone is saying how the Black Arabian is just the most expensive but not the best horse in the game (some even say it's one of the WORST) because it's so skittish and tiny and whatnot, and it seems to have become almost a "no-go" to be out and about on this horse. Honestly tho? I've been playing the game from the beginning and I bought the Black Arabian as soon as I could and I've now tried out a number of other horses and, as much as I love my Good Guy Kladruber my Black Arabian is still my go-to horse for everything. I've even figured out how to do bounty hunter missions with him: Everyone knows that, as soon as you've hogtied your bounty, a bunch of NPCs show up and start shooting at you. This is where my trusted companion used to buck and run, but no more - I just whistle for him RIGHT AFTER I've put the bounty on his back, and he stays right where he is and I can either dispose of the NPCs on the ground or get up on my horse and do it from horseback. I do the same when I use him for hunting - I just hit the "calm" button as soon as I hear wolves howling and he doesn't buck me, only when I don't manage to shoot all the wolves quickly does he get skittish, but my Turkoman and Kladruber get skittish at around the same point in time, so there's no noticable difference to me. (Keep in mind I'm talking about all this with MAXIMUM Black Arabian horse bonding.) I do agree that he's rather tiny and can look like a pony sometimes but he's FAST, and that makes up for it, especially when you have to go all across the map to get at your bounty target. And I like that he basically squeezes through everything and jumps over everything. Sure we crash from time to time but it's not nearly as many times as I crash when I use my Turkoman - that horse is cool and all but oh so bulky. And the Kladruber is even worse in that regard, lol. (I do love the big horses though, don't misunderstand me.) So yeah, I love my Black Arabian horse and I think it gets way too much "nope". But then I also suffer from anxiety and get skittish at things, maybe that's why I relate so much to the horse and can sense when he's about to have enough and that's why we get along so well? Hmm.

  11. Had a frustrating moment yesterday. My camp was pitched in the hills above ?Big Valley, north of Strawberry. I was riding south, doing a bit of hunting, to gather enough for a delivery run. There was another player camp pitched in the middle of the valley, on the bank of the river. I saw that there were three players in the camp, but it looked rigged for hunting, they had the butcher's table, Cripps was working away, there was a big delivery wagon, and the three players were carrying rifles. The white flag was raised. I rode past, not through the camp, indeed I gave it a bit of a berth. I was almost past (I had decided to head to Strawberry as there was nothing to hunt, presumably as the chaps in this camp had snagged it), when I saw a blip coming towards me from behind, leaving the camp. I turned and tipped my hat, there was a player standing looking at me, then turned back to continue the ride south. Then he lassos me, pulls me from my horse and hogties me. His two pals then join and they stand there looking down at me struggling. I hit the x button to break free, just as I do they all step back inside the camp confines, where they remained, so I couldn't retaliate (although I had given no hostile sign at any point, and had no weapon drawn at any point up until then). I watched for a while (figuring I'd be shot in the back if I turned to leave), steadily increasing the distance between us - they were still watching - with a scoped Springfield drawn in case of an attack. None came, distance was sufficient, I turned and rode on my way. I checked their levels, they were 162, 92 and 9. I'm level 54 but a relative novice who majors on collecting and hunting. Even had I wanted to make an argument of it I wouldn't have stood a chance. I put it down to experience, but does this happen to others? Do others on here do this? What do you get from it? Not being arch, genuinely interested. It felt like they just wanted to bully the passer by, and it only cost me a few minutes (although it wasn't fun), but I'm surprised that people bother. I had no mic so there was no chatter with me. How would others on here react? Should I have wreaked terrible vengeance? Or do you just sigh and move on? I went with the latter but would be interested to hear what others on here would do in my position.

  13. I do not think that getting attacked during a trade delivery is the same as griefing, unless attacks are continued after the mission is over.

  14. Glad I'm not the only one wondering about this. All the others mentioned on this thread happens a lot too, but this particular scenario is confusing because I could spawn in Tumbleweed and those pelts symbols would still pop up in that exact spot, which is nowhere near Tumbleweed.

  15. Same. I don't have time for rope games cause you gotta work out some kinky fetish. But I am also all about teaching valuable lessons if you are feeling froggy and wanna jump.

  16. Same here. I always hear people talk about getting bucked off these but if I'm going to be completely honest, it is very rare that I ever do. I rarely run out of stamina as long as I calm the horse down during long runs. Same thing when it becomes skittish. When attacked by wolves, etc., I keep the horse moving.

  17. I have yet to turn on defensive mode as well. And despite my antics, I rarely get picked on these days.

  18. I’ve been riding my free red chestnut (Red Liquor) since day one. He gets the job done and rarely give me trouble... I just never saw the need to spend massive amounts of money on upgrading horses.

  19. I like what kean_1 said. Only thing I see differently is I have never used defensive mode. I'm very passive aggressive. I will not bother you and you dam well better not bother me. Hogtying me tells me your wanting to test your metal. I'm all about it son ! My best friend is dynamite arrows , I will spare no expense to show you that you picked the wrong cowboy to test yourself. Live and let live. They would pay a hefty price learning the lesson I will be teaching ! 😀

  20. Soo... Hmm. Did the traveling salesman or peddler send notifications on where they were to all post offices, cowboys, and the like? Nope. Don't think so. They went from area to area (Town to Town). When they were on the road passers by could hail them. Same concept. Just be happy the lady doesn't constantly move during the day and only park at night.

  21. If I see people in their camp, I usually wander on in and drink a bunch of their beer, then stagger out... I probably deserve to get hot tied, but it usually doesn’t happen. What those guys did to you was kind of a di*k move, but I don’t think it’s anything worth wasting more time over.

  22. Words to live by. I expect everyone I see on the map wants to shoot me. I always start my day off hunting at the Cholla cougar spawn. I always hunt one extra and throw on the back of my horse. And ride with it for the rest of the session, and then when I have a positive encounter with someone I give them the cougar. Kind of a "thanks for not being a jerk" comment.

  23. When the beta first launched it happened all the time to people . Now, not so much. But they just seem like they did it for their own amusement. I guarantee if you were not alone, they wouldn't have pulled that. I personally don't do that to people. I am guilty of pretending to be "AFK" sometimes to see what dumbdumbs are in the area.

  24. Indascriminant harassment or killing of other players is essentially what defines trolling / griefing. They can dress it up as just messing around but when its at someone else's expense, it is what it is. .....and then the fact that they did it near their camp and then retreated back to it knowing you couldn't retaliate without being labeled an aggressor. Yeah, it's time to call a spade a spade. This is far from engaging other players in an event or mission that openly allows for that sort of thing. I wouldn't have rode that close but either way, I would have chalked it up to a bs move and not wasted anymore time with them.
    1 point
  25. They didn't kill you? Surprised. Sounds like a few people just screwing around. Was probably the level 9. I wouldn't classify as griefing as they didn't kill or continue to harass after you broke free and rode off. I probably would have just rode off as well. Since they were at the camp. No need to delay my game for 20 minutes waiting for them to leave. Edit: second part of your question: No I don't do it, but I see plenty who do. Some people see it as a shooting and killing only game, and if you're not shooting and killing then why play? ANY dot that shows up, and off they go, picking a fight. We've got one posse member that is like that. when he can't find a random to fight he comes after us with his hammer. (We keep friendly fire on for realism).

  26. Yes - unprovoked hogtying is an asshole move imo. I usually find low levels try and do it a lot around towns but thought defensive mode prevented it? Some asshat tried to lasso me while I was using the campfire near the Butcher is St Denis one time - unfortunately for him I saw him coming as I had the camera turned in his direction even tho my character's back was turned, got up and wasted him with sawn-offs. edit: I think some people get a bit territorial, claiming areas of the map as their own for hunting and the like and attack anyone who dares enter 'their' hood.

  27. Well, to be fair, if I’m feeling like stealing your wagon, all I know is an rival trader is making a delivery’. I don’t know Pluck is only level 3 or 5or whatever, or that he’s having a bad day for whatever reason. I just see an opportunity and make a quick decision... is it worth the risk? Am I in the middle of something else? Do I have time? After all, we all have our plans. We just need more money.

  28. Me & another posse member did a long delivery today & its the first time we've been attacked I looked at his level as my friend was in charge of the wagon 148 nice, I loaded up with explosive he died 7 times all the way to St Dennis when the wagon was delivered he left that's the game it was the best 20 minutes I've had in the game for a long time, play the game Bro & enjoy how it's meant to be played.

  29. I used the bounty wagon. Once in there they can't get out. But all and all it really is kinda lack luster. The way R* was hyping up Player Bounties, I was expecting more. That is why it is rare to see one pop up. Most people will just ignore it. Hopefully it changes in the future. But to me the 3 roles seem very hollow and lack depth/complexity.

  30. Personally, this is the type of purpose I’ve been craving since launch. Want my wagon? Come and try to take it. Want to keep your wagon? Try and stop me from stealing it... I hated the random senseless psycho killer thing going on. I see much less of this now and much more purposeful conflict. I’m happy with these changes and look forward to even more.

  31. This kind? I mean hungry wolfs. Who sees an opportunity to play the game and thinks...Hmmm let me see what level this guy / gal is first. This is by far the easiest money making and leveling online game I have played. I remember grinding for weeks just to get a jump from level 15 or so to the next level. Grinding for several weeks for a special sword that I had to have someone else make because I wasn't a high enough level to make it myself or my skill was not in that path. When dying meant you had to gather help to go to the badlands and get the stuff you dropped before someone else got it.

  32. Also @We Are Ninja my community is 100 % honorable and have been since beta released. We never shoot first but I couldn't imagine playing it without outlaws. It really keeps us on the mark knowing at any time outlaws can pop up and surprise us ! We really do love it ! 😀
    1 point
  33. I'll let you call the outlaws what ever you want bud. But really do you really want to play rdr2o without outlaws ? Just seems kinda pointless to buy a game like this and not expect some folk to want to be bad guys. That's what makes this game so great in my opinion. Good vs bad.
    1 point
  34. I apologize for starting this argument. When I said that I wasn't an asshole because I choose not to attack another player's wagon during their delivery mission, I didn't mean to imply that those who do choose to attack the wagon are all assholes. I get it. This game is supposed to simulate the wild west. It needs both "good guys" and "bad guys" to bring balance to the game. There can be a fine line between being a "bad guy" and being a griefer who sole reason for playing is to ruin the enjoyment of others for his own enjoyment. In this case, I do agree that since Rockstar practically wants to to attack the other player's wagon, that does not cross the line.

  35. AGAIN, let's keep the discussion about the game, mechanics, etc. There's no need to keep hurling insults at one another. If it wasn't clear before, it should be clear now. The personal insults stop here.

  36. I believe it is like $23 . But it really isn't worth it. I believe you get $17 if you capture them alive and less if you kill them. Really not worth it IMO. Don't get me wrong , I don't mind shooting people........BUT, I am not chasing you around for $17 . They need to raise it. Make it like x2 or x3 what it is now. Or maybe if a player is a level 300 that factors into the reward being higher. I dunno. Right now it isn't worth my time especially when I can make $50+ on a 3* NPC bounty. I did one a few weeks ago thinking I get paid. Nope. Much like the player/posse assassination mission, the payout needs to be higher. Players are supposed to be harder than dumb NPCs. Which is why the pay should reflect that.

  37. After watching the video i realised that there were 3 wolves not 4 i just missed one and had to shoot him again thinking its the 4th one. I believe if i took more time dealing with them the horse would bail on me. I wanted to use my shotgun but noticed i was on Varmint rifle so used Bolt action to kill em. Then again an the next day i had this open world event with a guy attacked by 3 coyotes and when 2 of them started to come to me the horse bucked me lol and they were not even close so yeah ..... i still like it for its speed. Good for chasing and fast traveling. its my fav atm. I still need some BH lvls to buy the Bretone .
    1 point
  38. SPEED!?? MY BRETON ROCKS. With proper saddle and stirrups (NOT the Delgado because I own that too), my steel grey Breton is rated 9 Speed and 6 Acceleration. Does anybody honestly need more than that? And Gambarro is smarter than the other horses, e.g. when I am dismounted in a furious gunbattle, he does not flee. He takes himself to safety which is never more than 40 or 60 feet away, returns less than 2 seconds after whistling. He doesn't run off into the great unknown. He will whinney at snakes but not rear-up, and pulls his head hard left or right to warn me of a gator nearby. As much as I love my Turkoman (Añejo) with the same stats, there's no comparing In the heat of battle or natural danger. I've already eliminated a couple of horses from my stable and will probably pare it down to just three: Turk, Nokota, and Breton.

  39. No, absolutely not.: I paid 35 gold bars to do business with her, and then to be successful enough to recoup my investment, had to buy a shovel and metal detector from her--over $1000. That negates any justification for her location to be withheld with hopes that I will be lucky enough to stumble across her riding across a whole country. Nobody does business that way, then or now. I buy maps from her instead of using maps like this. If I was @Kean_1 I would remove this link and send it over to the cheats heading. Peace. Out.
