Ok so I have not been able to play the online portion of the game at all! After finally getting around to troubleshooting the issue. After taking my entire PC-Tower to a friends with a different ISP I was able to connect flawlessly. So obviously my rig compatibility was not the culprit. I found that my ports (Nighthawk router) were in fact not being opened after forwarding. Yes the router was functioning properly and I also tested without the router. Solution, It was in fact that I have "Mediacom" and after having them come to my house and confirm their crap was all working properly and exhaustive complaining. They also ensured me that the crappy modem router mesh pile was baselined and the internal router was turned off. Did NOT matter at all, I finally went to walmart and purchased my own modem Arris Surfboard SB8200... guess WHAT!?!?! ports finally opened completely and the GAME WORKS FINE! So, if you have one of those modem/router combo's i would suggest getting rid of it because it causes you to have a double nat and the ISP router is not capable of forwarding ports properly since it appears to be hard programmed to block most ports for "Security reasons" they say. I'm honestly saddened that no one has posted this fix sooner, please spread the word. Good Luck and i hope this helps at least someone!3 points

Well I’ve gave examples before... But Bottom line, if you have some kind of purpose to killing/harassing someone it’s legitimate. If your going around putting bullets into people for no apparent reason, your just being a di*k...3 points

...it'll still be a great experience, but if you are, wow, the horse physics and graphics alone will blow you away.2 points

fyi @mrohaus.... Someone else posted about being banned for what seems like the same scenario as you:2 points

How about a sort of reverse bounty hunter role? I’m sure gangs out there would gladly pay to have cerTian Johnny Law types taken out... perhaps even extending it to taking our rival players on the good side of the spectrum at some point? I guess it would basically be an expansion to the ‘hitman’ type Of stranger missions, only fleshed our into an actual role...2 points

If you select a weapon you don't get the fishing rod breakdown animation. And if they're in first person they can do the instant 180 turn. So within 1-2 seconds they can go from fishing to turned and shooting. Believe me I get it, people don't like getting shot while minding their business. But to think a posse racing to the finish should hang around, wait, and study the situation, trying to imagine what this player may or may not do is unreasonable. And yes we fully expect there to be a high likelihood of a pursuit after we take that shot. But we're ready for it at that point and have put some distance on them, and made a plan. Usually involves putting their horse down. We're just trying to get away and keep moving. Everyone should also take into account how many times traders have been burned by someone "minding their own business" there's a very good reason for the distrust.2 points

This is at risk of becoming circular, but in my view obviously I'd think it entirely unreasonable if I'm actively fishing and some random passing player shoots me in case I decide to mess with him. If the player fishing is there first, they are either relaxing or working on a challenge and having to come out of the moment constantly to look around, pack up and move just because someone is also choosing to drive their wagon past (in the wagon hunting/defending thread there is mention made of taking cross country routes to avoid choke points and other players) that spot seems pretty unreasonable to me. If I am fishing and am on the receiving end of that I will make it my mission to shoot those responsible and prevent their delivery. Preemptive strikes a la the Tripoli bombings in the 1980s have their place in the game - sadly - but for me that is too far. It's the wagon coming close to the fisherman, not the other way around, so you're close to them. Random attacks don't have to happen (they really don't in Elite Dangerous), and if there's a line then someone clearly engaged in a pre-existing activity is the other side of it, imho. Anyway, we don't agree but I was surprised to hear your line on that one. Aim a gun, don't shoot, relax once you're past. A pointed gun is used to exercise control in Westerns (and in life), it can be a game thing too! Nicer than random executions which exacerbate the problem, or even create one where there was none.2 points

I have a friend who was always into futuristic gaming. Even GTA was never on his list. I talked him into getting RDR2 on PC and I didn't hear from him for 2 days. When I finally did, he sent me a text saying his wife is going to kick him out because all's he wants to do with his spare time is play the game lol2 points

Yup. Had to either finish a collection map, in this case wild flowers, or deactivate the collection map. Now I’m able to open a treasure map. Thanks.2 points

RDR2.org is proud to announce that we've scored an exclusive interview with prolific GTA Online / Red Dead Online crew The Reaper Lords and what's more, you'll get to ask the questions! The Reaper Lords are a world famous crew that have been featured in numerous publications such as IGN, Kotaku (three times), Polygon, the Rockstar Newswire, VICE and soon to be RDR2.org. The Reaper Lords were founded in 2013 and rose to become the most well-known and respected motorcycle club on GTA Online. Today, Reaper Lords are a thriving online outlaw gang in Red Dead Redemption 2. They are a highly structured and disciplined crew, with well-defined operating protocols and hierarchy. Members of the club having voting rights over major club decisions, the ability to run for elected officer positions to assist with club leadership and operations, and members enjoy in-game support and activities as well as real meet-ups worldwide. The Reaper Lords have raised thousands of dollars for real world charities like Make a Wish and Breast Cancer Research. All members of the club are expected to show respect to all other members and to uphold the honorable reputation of the club. They decided to collaborate with RDR2.org to give the Red Dead community an opportunity to ask questions about the club, what they do online, and any other questions you may have. Reaper Lord membership is a privilege earned by few and only after commitment has been demonstrated and trust has been earned. Thousands have applied to join the Reaper Lords, but only about 1% of applicants earn full membership. All prospective members must go through a multi-week evaluation period prior to earning membership in the club. If you've ever wanted to know more about what it takes to run an elite crew, what the Reaper Crew do exactly, what makes them special, how they handle griefers, or how to kick ass in Red Dead Online, then this is your chance to find out. Submit the questions you wanted answered in this thread and we'll do our best to get them answered. Submit all your questions by December 15. Facebook | Twitter | Instagram1 point

I felt the same way once I started playing RDO. I'm surprised that mechanic didn't transfer over as I had used it numerous times in the campaign.1 point

Just to expand on my evil bounty hunter role, maybe bonus points/daily challenges that revolve around creative kills (tied to o train tracks, hunt from a bridge etc.). Special equipment: Noose (provides the ability to string up your tied up opponents and hang them from various objects such as tree limbs, rafters, bridges...). Special ability... Use your opponent’s horse as a platform for your bound foe...1 point

Why have I never tried this? Fair enough then, as you were. I totally understand where you're coming from - more often than not my problems in the game (not had all that many) have come from playing defensively, waiting for the other player to act dishonourably.1 point

I'm proudly part of @Bucnation3139's posse and am always High Honour, but it definitely is fun to murderize a whole town of NPCs and lawmen/bounty hunters on occasion. I wish we could hold NPCs up and perhaps have a greater chance of getting loot like jewellery/collectible jewellery, tonics/antique alcohol and such from them rather than outright killing them and looting them. As far as edging on griefing, that's definitely not my bag. I won't shoot first unless there's clear ill intent on full display. This has made me snack on my fair share of lead but when I respawn, I WILL find them and I WILL get the last kill. I'm in full agreement on more "Outlaw"/"Villain" themed activities. Shaking folks down for money/protection payments, stock rustling, stick-ups (stores, NPCs, wagons, trains and banks), kidnapping (moreso than the likes of what Tammy offers where you get target and drop them off), homestead robberies. Just more chaos in towns amidst the NPCs. Maybe nearby high honour players can be notified of an incoming outlaw posse and try to defend the town, or can interrupt the chaos and kill the outlaws, thus ending the outlaw's mission.1 point

A precision wagon stealing posse shoots the driver, because they want the wagon intact, as they are playing the game as the rival trader role. The average lone "minding their own business guy" shoots an incendiary round at the horse or wagon just to be a jerk. Instant $225 loss to the owner, and that's IF owner is actually able to hump all 4 bags in separately. A traders action can cost someone a respawn, a 10 second run back to their spot and $0. Attackers have nothing to lose. A traders inaction can cost themselves everything they've been working on and $625. Traders have everything to lose.1 point

My wife doesn’t really want to hunt. But she sure does appreciate me filling up the freezer with all sorts of steaks, sausage, ground meats and birds for roasting and frying from my hunting efforts... She absolutely loves fishing though... As for animals bleeding out, I kind of preferred the white dots being there. I tend to shot multiple animals in one go online. The dying ones seem to have more de-spawn resistance than the dead ones. So I’ll shoot five deer/antipope/whatever then skin the dead ones first while the others moan and die...1 point
-
Yes, I really do see it from both sides of the fence myself. On the one hand, it’s really annoying to be shot when your minding your own business (fishing, hunting, whatever you happen to be doing). On the other hand, it’s really annoying to give someone the benefit of the doubt only the be shot dead when your guard is down and have to fight to reclaim your wagon... Since it’s easier to keep your wagon in the first place than to try and chase it down and reclaim it un damaged... And no, there is no moral high ground to the shoot first apologize later route. But then again, there’s no real reason to be all that upset over the 10 seconds it takes to respawn unless you really want to dish out some revenge. It’s not like you can’t just shrug and go on with your life. Maybe they made the choice to shoot first, but you make the choice of wether or not to make it into a big deal. PS: as for the ‘self imposed timer’ thing... you do realize deliveries are literally on a timer, right?1 point
-
None of that makes you the good guy. You do have time to check, you just choose not to bother because it is easier to shoot someone. If you're running several deliveries a night then you're rich, so there simply isn't that level of urgency. You are simply choosing to play in that slightly unpleasant way. Which is fine, that's your choice, but call it what it is. You accuse me of holding an 'unreasonable' position, yet all I am doing is fishing, not on crossing points, minding my own business. You're the one choosing to shoot me on the way through. Your compass has been recalibrated as only an online gaming compass can be. Thinking that 'sorry pal, nothing personal' cuts it when you are the aggressor, while dressing it up as defence, necessary, and all you can do within the (self-imposed, arbitrary) time constraints is just hot air aimed at masking the simplicity of it: you can't be bothered caring about others' enjoyment, you just want to take the most direct route to your own pleasure that is available, and will shoot anyone who has the temerity not get out of your way. Which, again, is a valid (if unpleasant) viewpoint, but let's call it what it is. You don't hold some moral high ground, some defensible imperative which make this shooting of random fishers your only, regrettable option. You are the woes of early 21st Century society in one distant goods run. And a walking reminder of why I tend to leave discussion fora for anything other than work, eventually, as the insights are depressing. I think I will leave this thread here.1 point

Naw.... Nothing to do with culture. Just that I'm not going to belittle my wife like that. She doesn't like scary movies and we may joke around about it but I'm not going to be patronizing. She knows it's not real but certain ones can make her feel really uncomfortable for certain reasons. I just don't watch those when she's around. The OPs wife has a problem with one aspect of the game involving the cries from dying animals which happens to bother her. She obviously knows it's not real. That sucks. I like some animals too but partly because I think they're tasty. That would be a bridge too far for me. Sorry you didn't see that incompatibility before it happened.1 point
-
Hmmm, so speaks someone who doesn't have a wife to try to explain things to. I wish you luck in your quest for a lady who (1) shares your love of hunting and (2) will sit quietly while you rationally mansplain to her the difference between real life and a computer game. 😜 Back on topic, though. I continue to love RDO, but I do find it disappointing that R* haven't implemented some of these little things that were already present in the single player campaign, such as mercy killing. The Code must all be there already.1 point

Where do you draw the line? Rockstar wants gang conflict online. That is the point. Going around annoying people for the sake of being an ahole is different then role-playing to me.1 point

This I did not know about. I am going to have to try this out. I played a bit of online on console but it has been awhile. Started playing on PC this month and even with all the issues, I still manage to have fun. This is a good tip to know though. Thanks brother.1 point

If this is the case then the reason isn't because you exposed yourself by playing online or by forming a posse, it was due to the actions of a random that joined your open posse invite. Personally, I never join randoms or leave my posse open to strangers as this is a sure way for griefers to take advantage of me or my team. Seems someone now may have found a way to get people banned. My suggestion in that scenario to others would be to simply keep their posses closed and play with friends who don't use glitches, exploits or otherwise violate the rules that can be considered as bannable offenses. Only posse up with people you know or you vetted. btw, there was someone else who posted today regarding being banned for 30 days because of someone in their posse donating a ton of feathers at their camp. I would suggest trying to find a phone # you can call to discuss this with a representative. Did you happen to catch the players name? You can report them through R* Support and plead your case via a trouble ticket. ......or just open a ticket and see what they say.1 point

Wow... so much hate. You were in the wrong place ant the wrong time and ate a bullet from som delivery guys... fair enough. You then proceeded to kill them all single handily, bravo, and again fair enough... what I don’t get, why are you coming here kicking and screaming and crying foul? I just don’t see a need for it. FYI: Just ‘standing to the side’ is a common ploy used by people to then ambush people from behind while they have their guard down. If you don’t want to be shot, don’t just stand aside... get the hell out of the way. For the record, I wasn’t part of that posse. But I do think by the sound of it what they did was fair play. Your retaliation was fair play. You should just leave it at that.1 point

definitely! but i'll stay away from the online stuff. I never was much of an online gamer no matter what game. Doing the story mode the 2nd time with knowledge of most skills will surely make for a more gratifying experience imo. Thanks for all the support guys. Much obliged partner.1 point

I had this issue as well. Check your map for any yellow discovery points. I realized I still had items that I had to collect from what I believe was the collector role or something similar along those lines. Once that was completed, they disappeared and then I was able to open a treasure map from my satchel.1 point

I probably wouldn't because of what @The_Liquor said about people being sneaky but for me, it depend on how close they were to us, etc. I will say that I always found it stupid that you didn't have the radar available while fishing. Back when the app still worked for blips, I would use that instead.1 point
-
For defending.... Posse up. This can't be stressed enough for long deliveries. Few things in this game are more beneficial than playing with a posse of friends. If you're alone, consider local deliveries instead or accept the fact that there's a good chance you will never make it to your destination. .....more reward = more risk. Simple as that.1 point
-
There are things that make my wife uncomfortable like certain types of scary movies, certain criminal docus, etc. Guess what?...... I don't try to make her feel stupid about it by explaining the obvious or dismissing /questioning her anxieties, emotions, etc. I simply don't watch them when she's around out of respect.1 point
-
Howdy. I have sent you a msg on PlayStation. I do have several on at those times and I have a posse leader ready for you. Lmk if you need any assistance. Thanks.1 point
-
I agree with a lot of this, but if a guy fishing find himself being executed by a passing wagon train (as happened earlier on this page) I do personally think they should take a look (at more than a stationary blip on a radar) and think 'he just happens to be here, and is obviously engaged in an activity, let's leave him be'.1 point
-
I would have helped him pick them up and run them in if I could have. I'll be a little more careful in the future. Didn't feel good about that one.1 point
-
I like your mindset here. These cats start stuff , waste your time , jump server when they realize they are out of there league. They should have to face what's coming to them. Way too many glitches these grieves have discovered. No mercy !!1 point
-
@SimonTemplar 😮I always thought you were put in "semi-transparent" mode when doing a local delivery so players couldn't mess with you even if they tried? That sucks. People pulling this sort of sh*t should be forced to stay on the server until you say you are done with any retribution you see fit!1 point
-
Yes we need outlaw roles and the ability of beeing an actual outlaw. Fast. I was all honorable as well but now out of boredom i catch myself "griefing" other players i come across just bcoz its funny. There are rly no consequences. This bounty system needs to be adressed asap. I play less every day. How much more gold bars and RDO$ we need ? I probably stop playing until the next update like i did before. Maybe just do a couple of showdowns and quit. Im starting to loose faith in RDR 2 Online project. They just dont want to keep it up i think. Summer update supposed to be a BIG thing and ended up like it was written on the knee.1 point
-
Yep we sure do on occasion. Never grieving but we cut lose here and there. Mostly against each other 8n structured battle arrangements. Example is we play (bag the buck) one team holds a 3 star buck at fort Mercer while the other team tries to get in and take it. Great fun.1 point

I think my mother buys this stuff. She can't do dairy products anymore so she sticks with almond milk products for most things. She seems to enjoy it and she was a huge eggnog drinker with us kids growing up. As long as there is enough nutmeg in the flavoring, you likely won't notice the difference but it might be thinner.1 point

Not 100%, but I’m pretty sure the Enfield officially replaced the Metford throughout the common wealth by the mid 1890’s... for sure by the late 1890’s... so definitely within the time frame of RDR2... On a side note, I’ve used Lee Enfields during Arctic Patrols into the 21st century, as they were not only more reliable in the hellish cold, but had a little more Oomph to take out a potential rouge Polar Bear than the standard 5.56 modern military cartridge... I actually have three different Enfields... This one is my favorite... a nice all in one piece No.4 Mk 1* with a first issue spike bayonet...1 point

Got banned today because someone joined my temporary Posse and sold feathers to my camp. Do not play of form a posse as you could be banned for some other players cheating. I did nothing wrong, Until this gets fixed ... DO NOT PLAY WITH POSSES or risk being banned. Just trying to warn fellow gamers. I was really enjoying the game and now my character is gone and I can't play for 30 days because Rockstars net code put some dude in my party that decided to do something he/she wasn't supposed to. Feels shitty.0 points
