I have nothing against the hunting, fishing, pickings herbs or even peaceful exploring in this game. That's not what my post was about. It's obvious that these activities are all part of the overall experience R* wanted to provide it's players and I don't mind it. I was simply saying that I personally don't see how a food share program works in all this or feel that it's even needed given the ease of acquiring ones own food. It also (IMO) doesn't fit into the whole idea of how people are required to work/grind for their items, money, etc. With food, you are required to either aquire it by hunting/cooking, looting/robbing or buy it through vendors. If you're hunting with friends, you can already share parts or whole kills.
-
I agree..... My own take on this whole food share idea is that it's really a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. Gathering food is already ridiculously easy enough for anyone to do as is cooking. As for actual sharing, you can already do that with friends or randoms nearby (if you want to take that chance). I do it all the time when I have a good carass, large pelt, meat, etc. I'll let my friend take it or vice versa when we go hunting together. A good portion of the RDO experience is about the grind and some of the routines folks need to go through. .....and hunting, cooking and/or buying your own food from a vendor to maintain your character is part of that. The same an be said about leveling and earning enough money to create or unlock certain ammo types for yourself.

Whoa there folks. Let's all take it down a notch, eh?

@Marshall1288, Please note that you are allowed 1 recruitment thread. You still have one open from December. Please use that one to continue your enlistment. C'mon now. No need for that. There are several posses on here with their own unique themes and twists on how they play. I'm closing this thread. Please use your existing one to post new information about your group, etc. Below are the forum rules for reference:

Kinda ironic given his post was literally 1/10 the length of your reply.
-
As Dylbandit mentioned, this site should not be used for self promotion of your YT site, etc. This thread is also months old and I will be closing it down. Sharing your own videos is fine but its all in the intent.

I meant if you like creepy and enjoy HC survival.... In other words, The Forest is a creepy, HC survival game. .....not that you would be creepy for liking it. 😄

Female Gamers: Are they too much a distraction for male players?
Kean_1 replied to YodaMan 3D's topic in Off-Topic
Not your fault. Moto Girl bumped it but even then, it's not a problem. Just joking around as it kind of surprised me when I got the notification regarding my old reply. -
He is comprehending the question but as he said, he's not sure how RDO works since he doesn't play. I do however and he's correct. None of what you do in the campaign transfers over to RDO. In RDO you are you. ....in the campaign, you are the characters the story portray you as. RDO is a clean slate. AFAIK, nothing carries over from your discoveries, possessions or accomplishments in the main game over to RDO. However, things like animal spawn locations, etc. may be similar. ....not legendary animals though (for example). I will add that animal location icons are on the RDO map if that's what you mean. Here's an example:

.....and as I mentioned earlier, this is not just something R* does in their games and it is typically done for the same reason. Your character is you in the game and as @Renascent mentioned, your mouth even moves as you speak in this game (when using in-game chat). ......it's not some oversight, lack of resources, etc. It is a design choice. If I could find that R* interview where this was brought up, I would provide a link to it.

online horse bonding, starts over everytime?
Kean_1 replied to lumper's question in Questions & Answers
I never visit the stable to reset although I have noticed that if I die (or the horse, I can't remember), it goes back to where it needs to be (lvl 4). -
That's not how it works. Anyone can be targeted and after the last big update, dark blip players were supposed to be at a higher risk but everyone was (and are) still in the lottery.
-
....someone who gets it. ^^^^^^ There's no mystery behind it IMO.

Internet required to install and play?
Kean_1 replied to TheRpgGamer's question in Questions & Answers
You can play without a connection but any network features will be disabled. Just tried it myself to test. To install, I'm guessing that you could even still play without connecting and downloading the patches given you are not online the system will not be looking for updates. My recommendation? Talk to R* Customer Service and get confirmation before you make the purchase. https://support.rockstargames.com/categories/115001624507?redirect_lang=en_us&_ga=2.253751055.744039993.1553873936-1719606522.1525287356 -
Well, unless your friends comprise the entire consumer base for this product I would say that is a very specific sample. None of us are privy to the gameplay data to see who really takes advantage of these options. ......R* is though and I'll guarantee you they take this data into account when making their development decisions.

Many sportsmen are also hunting for the purpose of harvesting the meat, skins, etc. for their families, friends, to feed the needy, etc. so they're cool in my book. If someone is simply hunting an animal for a tusk, a head, etc. and wasting the animal or otherwise poaching and breaking laws, then that's a whole different story. Yeah, I definitely wouldn't take issue with having to kill an animal myself if I had to. ....but it's just not a thing I like to do. I do enjoy fishing, cooking and eating my own catch though. .....just not the cleaning. ....yuck.
-
Well, just because you hunt doesn't mean you don't like animals. A lot of folks hunt to feed their families. I don't but then again, I also don't have a problem eating meats butchered by others. That doesn't mean I hate fish, chicken, cattle, lamb, etc. though. I actually like animals. ....and not just because they taste good.
-
I get where you;re coming from but I guess we could also ask why any game company spends so much time aesthetic items in their games but I believe the answer is obvious. .....it's what folks want. You say gratuitous but if such options are popular, isn't that justification enough? Customization and personalization is a huge draw in a lot of games today. Just look at how much time folks around here have spent customizing their own characters (including myself) and yet it adds absolutely naught to the functionality of the gameplay. ....so yeah, quite relevant IMO. .....and then there's the whole MTX aspect of customization which I'm happy for as it steers devs away from P2W strategies. The demand for it in games is a good thing IMO.

It's the same thing as spending money in GTAO on fancier interior design options, etc.

Yeah, the only thing really bugging me right now with TD2 is the texture rendering delays/issues that have been around since the betas. A lot of people have reported it but they still haven't added it to their "known" list. ....and then they kept asking for more video evidence so then everyone flooded them with examples all showing the same thing. I hope they get that sorted as it's really the only thing putting a damper on my gameplay experience / immersion.

No Online Poker WTF not rockstar?????
Kean_1 replied to TheFa11enOn3's question in Questions & Answers
No problem. It's great to discuss these things in the forums though. ....bounce ideas off one another, seek opinions, etc. .....but without feeding that information to R*, it may not do any good. R* has been very vocal about their feedback site and how important player input is to development of the game. The only thing I can do is spread the word and try to get everyone (who wants to have their voice heard) to also submit their feedback through that site. -
......multiple times throughout the day, nearly every day. I'm semi-retired though and between other things I do during my days I just like to keep busy.

We had a voice in the campaign because we were playing the role of Arthur. In RDO, you're playing the role of yourself so there is no scripted dialogue on your behalf. It's definitely a design decision and R* isn't the only one to choose this route. In fact, a recent example is the Division 2. As I recall this was actually addressed in an interview during development and the decision had something to do with what I mentioned.
