  1. So, lol I got a little triggered earlier, and just had to rant, I sent Rockstar my thoughts, then I thought, let me rant on the board, and get it all out. So, rant on, lol If you dont want to hear me whine about the game, just skip it. Multiplayer, I hate that you have to select a "series" then you get whatever you get. I hate it!! What bothers me is how awesome the game is, and how stupid this system is, I cant understand how they can get the game so right and then screw up the part that some of us take for granted. I mean it never occurred to me that they wouldnt just make a list of modes for us to chose and then leave us be, watch and see what we do with it, before they decide that wont work, and we want people to try them all so... I have had enough, I am just not paying pvp screw it. Why cant they just put in play a list, these are the game modes, pick the one you want and then go play it? Every other multiplayer game has figured this out, but Rockstar for some reason has some reason of their own that they will not give the players the power of choice and freedom to do what we want. I have no idea why, maybe they feel certain modes wont get any use ? too bad, I am not playing any pvp anymore because I dont like surprises, I hate loading in only to find out it is some mode I dont like and there arent enough people to make it fun anyway. I am not interested in these run around the map with a bow in silence, or run around the outskirts of a map and try to get back to your base, etc. there just dumb, I dislike them and would rather not waste my time with them. I just want it simple, death match, team deathmatch, capture the flag, team capture the flag, etc..maybe a few others, the territory one isnt bad if you are lucky enough to get on with people that actually have a $5 mic and will talk to you so you can work together, which almost never happens, so I give up. I say make me a list, let me select what I want and get out of the way. I sent this same point to Rockstar but I wanted to see who else feels this way, is it just me? Sadly it isnt so much that I dislike all of those, but I dont want to be forced to play them.. Same with these free roam events, fishing events, herb picking event, etc.. wtf Rockstar , make a list, let us chose, F off with these random events that pop up in free roam, if I want to play and event I would go to the multiplayer menu and select it, otherwise if I am in free roam for a reason. I dont want to be taken out of free roam to do anything, I am there for a reason, usually to level up, or make ammo, or craft tonics, etc.. then I go to pvp modes, but of course in this game it is all backwards. Anyway I am just super frustrated that something so great that I enjoy so much is so broken with so many flaws that seemingly are unnecessary. Beta is over stop it with market research and whatever other reasons you have for these crazy ideas, the game is great, stop trying to change every aspect of how we play Multiplayer games. Rant over, flame on.
  2. Usually it will tell the player who gets the job as well as the target that it is happening, I have done several of these. Sometimes depending on where you get the mission, you have no chance of ever getting to the target in time so I just skip those and ignore the mission, other times they are close and so you go for it, nobody takes it personally well they shouldnt it is part of the game. When you get an assassination job but it is npc's you can tell because it says eliminate the targets, then you look on your map and see they are npcs at a camp or whatever, but when it is a real player it will show their name, you can see it is a player name, and you can even look it up on the player list to see who it is and all that. So dont get upset when you are selected, also, to avoid being selected, just play in defensive mode, I believe you will not be used for these in that case. I remember the first time it happened to me, I thought, wait what? who is coming for me? and I left, lol I didnt know what was up abnd it kind of freaked me out, then I learned what it was about and since then when they come up I do them, I defended against one recently and survived, and I got one to go kill and I got 2 of the three but couldnt get the third, he killed me three times, then the timer ran out, so it was over, but it was to kill a whole posse, lol of 3 guys near Braithwaite manor.
  3. Nice, sounds like you are off to a great start. Again, if you just spawn in, ,then fast travel, these issues fade. I jumped in this morning, I spawned in Tumbleweed, I did a litle hunting, then I fast traveled to Rhodes, grabbed a few things toward daily challenges, then went to Colter, did two stranger missions, and then went to Valentine, did another one and a few other daily challenges, then I went to Emerald ranch area and hunted again for a bit before heading to my camp, oh and I did another stranger missions in there too I forgot about, anyway, I did all that, made 7 gold bars, advanced a level, and got off without ever seeing another player. I actually did pass a guy at one point, but that was it, so for about 3 hours I crunched out some xp and gold, modified my guns a little more and all that but never was near anyone or had any trouble, as I write this I am now remembering I also did the Hamish and Tammy missions too, ,lol, so I did quite a bit before I left, but no griefing, or player killing. I was fishing once a couple months ago, and a guy came up behind me, tackled me, hog tied me then shot me, lol, so yeah as far as I can tell it used to be a lot worse, and on a daily basis, but these days not so much if you have a plan anyway. And to reiterate, the single player campaign is ight years ahead of any game I have ever played or many reasons, if you do go play it my advice is this. Dont rush the chapters, do a mission, then go out and get your trinket (buck antler) as you need it to help with perfect pelts, then hunt and gather for Pearson til you upgrade your satchel to the maximum one, it makes the entire rest of the game better and easier, then roam around, start the geology missions, and the rock carving/time traveller missions, those will keep you buys, also free roam and explore alot, you will find clues for a serial killer, for a vampire, for a time traveler, etc.. so do a mission, go hunting for days then go to camp and spend a day or two at camp and talk to every member of the gang at least once at each time of day, doing this will give you companion requests to do, then as you free roam you will encounter stranger missions and so much more, but definitely go slow, dont rush the chapters or you can miss alot, UFO's, big foot, wolf men, cave men, devil men, gunslingers, I mean dude it goes on and on. My wife is not a gamer at all, never ever plays them, she watched me play the single player game and fell in love with the characters, she cried at one point and was genuinely touched by the story, so when I tell you it is amazing and you should put the online on hold and go play it, I really mean it. Some helpful tips: Get the rdr2 map, it is for your phone or pc, I use a laptop when I play to keep a map open, Its free but you can buy a version that lets you save notes, update things you find and animal/plant locations are all marked, etc.. its a great app, also, get the official app for your phone when online so you can alasy have a map open so you dont have to open yours all the time. Def upgrade your satchel to the max early on, like chapter 2, it makes a difference, watch you tube videos for help on certain things, and lastly each missions has awards, gold, silver and bronze, the way to get gold often is to hurry up and in some cases that means skipping cutscenes, so I suggest play them once to see what it is about, then replay it for the gold, as you start getting into it, you will have questions, and here on these boards, plus reddit and youtube all are very helpful, oh and the wiki pages are great too for sinlel player.
  4. First let me say Welcome to RDR2O and these boards, lots of very cool people in here. Your story is like a thousand others, mine included, actually if you poke around and read some of the posts you will see others very similar to your own. I recently made one summarizing my journey from level 5 to level 100. The player killing as you have seen doesnt make much sense, sadly it is mostly new players, lower levels, bored or just not quite sure what to do and they cant seem to resist shooting people. They are often so low level they dont have any ability cards, or decent guns, horse, or camp, lol but meh its no where near as bad as it was 10 weeks ago. Today with the defensive mode things are a lot better but not perfect. As you mentioned they get no benefit from killing you or your horse or game, but they just like to bother people, now, you can press charges, and then once they attack you they turn red and you can now shoot them back and not incur a penalty or any bounty or honor adjustment, so that is all kind of new and seems to have really slowed the griefing problems we were having. Now you can press charges if you are attacked, plus you can then get revenge and it wont hurt your player, or you can parlay and they cant keep doing it, or you can just free roam to another session all together to get away from them. One tip is when you enter the game do so in the opposite side of the map you plan to play in, so for example, if you want to play near Tumbleweed, then spawn into St Denis or Rhodes, or Somewhere like that,t then free roam or ride your horse to Tumbleweed, doing this will help minimize the number of players near you in Tumbleweed, it works like that anywhere you want to go. For me hunting and fishing was the primary thing I did to earn cash to buy upgrades and level up. Your best bet is going to be do all the story missions, they pay really well for new players, but also do your daily challenges every day at least one and you can earn gold and cash and I think xp that way too,do at least one daily challenge every day for a week and you get a gold bonus multiplier, and if you go 14 days it goes up, 21 days and then after 28 days it goes up again, so the more consecutive days you can log in and do at least one daily challenge will be very helpful for you as you level up, and with 1 gold bar for each level you clear right now you can really clean up if you jump in and do all the early stuff, you can easily do 2 levels a session right now and that means 2 gold bars everyday you log in. Also do the two step verification with Rockstar and they run a promotion for 10 gold bars I think it is, and cash, etc.. also replay all the story missions after for more xp and gold, you can change your honor to play the remaining story missions as you wont be able to play them all if you have high honor or low honor, you have to be 75% low honor for some, and 75% or better high honor for others and lastly play the pvp modes they dont pay out great unless you win and even then they arent fantastic but they do go fast and they add up quickly, while you are playing you can learn a lot. If you didnt know, all your guns can be modified and by doing so will make them better, in accuracy, damage, etc.. so that is something you def want to do, even with the carbine and double barrel shotgun as you will use those in "name your weapon" pvp mode, so you want to have the same strength as everyone else. Anyway, best bet is to level up quickly and right now with gold bar incentives to level up its a great time to be starting. Fish, hunt, do stranger missions, story missions, daily challenges, anywhere you see smoke, go there and see what the encounter is, etc.. Good luck and you can read up here on the board about many other peoples experiences and problems/solutions as they come up, so definitely check that out too, Oh, I forgot, You said you just recently got the game? If you havent played the single player game I STRONGLY suggest you forget about the online, and go pay the single player game, there are so many things I could never cover in this post, but it is simply amazing!! Way way better than Online, I mean 1000% better, seriously the story is great, the acting is good, but there are so many things to find, discover, explore, etc.. it will blow you away if you havent played it,. I payed it three times all the way through and the final time was amazing because I knew the story and I knew about all the hidden things and the rewards like upgraded satchel, and trinkets and talismans and dino bones, dream catchers, rock carvings, etc.. there is so much to do and see and learn and explore in the single player you definitely should go play that first, play it will tech you a ton of stuff
  5. The one thing you are forgetting is treasure maps, there is a rumor that an algorithm exists that is every 30 bodies will generate a treasure map as long as none de-spawn, so if you are strategic and clear the hideout in a way that all the bodies are closer together so none de-spawn you can pick up maps pretty regularly, a guy made a video on it recently, I cant confirm it although the day before yesterday I got two treasure maps from looting bodies, so... ya never know.
  6. Also, switch your profile to "offline" so they cant keep tracking you. Say you leave the server and go to another one, they can use your gamertag, then profile to see where you are and there is an option there to join you in your session, I know because it happened to me, they actually followed me to another server and kept killing me, so I learned you also have to switch that to show me offline to prevent them from knowing where you are. And if R* was griefed in their session that would be fantastic!!!! I would love it if that were true, maybe then more can be or will be done to help prevent those types of players from dominating the game.
  7. Are you talking about awards or challenges? How do you reset challenges?
  8. I just wanted to figure out how to upload a screen shot. These are my main two outfits. Sorry to post a few of them, I was trying to figure this out, the Tan outfit I wear either the black sombrero or the Bolero hat. When I figure this out a little better hopefully I can get a few better pics, the tan and black outfit with gold guns looks great in game, it isnt an outfit so to speak, I put together different pieces to make it an outfit, but it all matches so well it looks like a purchased outfit, same with the red and black one, it is hard to see in the pics, but the red inner coat, and accents on boots and gun belts all look amazing and the small sombrero in black goes perfectly with it and the gator vest.
  9. LOL,well to be far, I didnt notice him until I looked up and saw him pointing his gun at me, before I said anything he had killing on his mind, and since the update, I go where I want and I dont worry about others, I dont mess with them and for the most part noone else has messed with me, I have skinned animals around lots of blue blips, usually 99.99% of the time they just do their own thing and never pay attention to me, a few guys have come running at me lately and I just stand my ground, draw and advise them to back off, and they have, lol. This guy was gonna shoot no matter what, and I just didnt see him until it was too late, so I hoped for better judgement after hearing my voice, but lol it ddnt play out that way. Now I noticed he was drawn on me for several seconds without shooting, so all I can figure is he was looking at my name, and maybe looking me up quick, I cant be sure though, either way when he saw my level he should have known. Either way, yeah you cant base things on one encounter or one day, but today espeically I saw many new players and so although I didnt edit my plans or routes as a result I was on high alert after this kid.
  10. So, if you see a red blip, you can shoot them and receive a bounty? Is that right? I mean just in free roam, not mission related, I see a red blip, I kill him I get a reward? I want to know for sure, this will add a whole new level of play for me, I know you started another post on the gun customization costs, But I wanted to add, yes it is expensive, I have two well three different outfits I rotate between plus my winter outfit, and I prefer gold guns, or at least gold part son guns, barrels, frames in most cases, some cyclinders, etc.. and it can be 17 to 25 gold bars for one gun!! lol But I dont use gold for anything else so.... I dont mind I need to learn how to get a picture from my game to here so I can post my outfits, I love the two I made, they are great!! Below is one outfit, I also use this outfit with the black smaller sombrero I forget what it is called, I am going to get a pic of it later and my black outfit too, this one looks amazing though, the sides of the pants have gold emulates on them and they match my guns The black sombrero looks even better with this outfit. I am still trying to figure out how to save 5 outfits to my horse, as you can see, this pic says storing 4 of 5 outfits on your horse, so I know it can be done, R* told me they are working on it.
  11. I dont believe so no, I migth be wrong, but I am pretty sure, no. you can leather wrap your guns to protect them but gun belts and holsters to my knowledge do not do anything other than hold your guns, no attributes or protection, as far as I know.
  12. Yeah, nobody cares, we dont pay for the beer, so.....does nothing to us or for you.
  13. Ok, so pro tip, if you want to do those missions and be left alone, spawn into the opposite side of the map, if you want to run missions in Rhodes, spawn into Tumbleweed, then fast travel to Rhodes and visa versa, if you do that normally there will be very few if any people near you and you can do those missions in peace, I have done hundreds and only been attacked twice, early on, before I learned this tip, ALSO, if you have a 3 star pelt or carcass on your horse and you want to fast travel, it will degrade, SO, go to the fast travel post, get off your horse, tell it to FLEE, then wait until it is gone, and off the radar, once your horse is gone, fast travel to where you need to go, when you get there just call your horse and it will appear with your pelts and carcasses in tact as you left them, 3 star still. Now I do them everyday and I NEVER have anyone messing with me. I do a loop from Black Belle, to Joe the swamp guy, the kid in Valentine, then Flaco and Sadie, then sometimes a few others depending on what I want to do or what I need to do for daily challenges. First thing I do everyday is my daily challenges, I get as many done as I can early on, today I made 4 gold bars in an hour and had 5 daily challenges done, the more days in a row you do them the larger the gold multiplier payout, so it pays to focus on these right now. This philosophy works with anything you want to do in game, spawn over there then ride or fast travel to the other spots. The butcher should work for you, dont get why it didnt, if you have been playing other games or if you have an xbox, and you shut down by pressing the xbox button then selecting quit, you may need to do a hard off from time to time to dump recent memory that can mess up things in the game, I find once a week if I do that everything works well. If you are on ps4 I dont know the process to shut down or if it is the same type of thing so I cant speak to that. Also, you will find players over level 75 are less likely ti mess with you / kill you for no reason, whereas players under level 30 are more likely and players under level 15 are extremely likely. It def takes time to feel comfortable in the servers and to learn who is dangerous and who is not. for me when I was new, I fished, a lot, to make money to buy upgrades, I only used gold once and that was to buy a fishing pole, then after that it was cash only and cash is easy to make, get a bolt action or Springfield, and a scope and you can hunt anything, the varmit rifle is also great for birds and smaller animals so those two to me are necessary, after that all you need is a lancaster, evans, or litchfield, pick one, and then dual pistols of your choice, I have Mausers, Volcanics, Sawed off's, Lamats, etc.. they all are different and all have their place, but if you get two hand guns, a repeater and a shotty of some kind that really all you need, and some would argue you dont need a shotty, you can get sawed off;s which at close range are incredible or a Lamat has one shotgun shell in each gun, so you can also go that route, but at first, a fish pole, one basic weapon of each and then just go hunt/fish, opposite ends of the map and you should rack up cash by the thousands very quickly. First thing to get after the basic weapons, is ability cards, get either slow and steady to help protect yourself or paint it black to help with hunting and gun fights, IMO these two cards are great, the others are based on your style of play, but get cards, and max them out while you hunt. You already have a horse so no worries there, the faster you can level up the faster the game gets better for you, so level up, story missions, you can replay these, people generally dont mess with you much at all, so run them til you are sick of them, same with stranger missions, pick ones across the map to prevent others from stopping you, Also, learn which missions givers give you hunting missions, those are great, easy and fast and pay well, so you can do very well if you work hard at focusing on leveling up, and do these things all together so you dont get bored. Some days I never see another players, I am just super focused on leveling up and I never cross paths with another player at all, I have gone for hours some days, but I also will level up 2 or 3 levels in a session sometimes as a result. Fishing, for small or large mouth bass, trout or salmon are very good, you can hold 10 of each and they pay $2 to $2.50 each so you can easily make 70$ a loop getting 3 types and it only takes about 15 minutes, you wont rack up xp fishing, but you will rack up quick cash, and cash is king in this game. Lastly dont waste money on clothes, cosmetic upgrades, etc.. only put your money to things that will benefit your attributes, like alwasy modify your guns, all guns that you own, barrel length, rifling, sights, etc.. this makes them better and you need every advantage you can buy. Hope some of this help,
  14. Funny we talked about this yesterday and then today, bam!! noobs everywhere and whether you call them try hards, griefers, or just jackasses they were everywhere. Now I still ignore them and dont pay attention to them at all, but as I am skinning a pelican, I see this kid pointing his gun at me, my reaction? I kept doing what I was doing, and said into my mic, hey! dont point that at me, whats wrong with you dude, you see I am skinning birds, dont be a.... I never finished the sentence as he shot at me from behind, I spun around lamats ready to light him up and head shot, Im dead! So, for the very first time, I pressed charges, then proceeded to take a page from Slippery B. strikes again and boy oh boy was that fun. So, the fun part was re spawning, changing from slow and steady to slippery B and arming my bow with dyno arrows and hunting him down until he leaves the server, which only took three kills, he was severely outmatched and it was actually fun to blow him up over and over. But It made me think of this post immediately and I knew I had to come back and say, hmm well... maybe it is actually getting bad again? See for me the day of the update was awesome, like I said earlier in this thread, I parked my horse walked up and down Main st Valentine with no fear, all proud and happy, and I didnt have any troubles, I hadnt had any troubles until yesterday actually, and when I did have troubles, it seems like there were 20 players under level 15 on the server at the same time and to me that explained all the player killing, they just dont know much better, they are brand new wet behind the ears, bored at the prospect of grinding for weeks to catch up to the rest of us so what else can they do? shoot at anyone who comes along and try to get them to engage in a gun fight. So I get why they seem to do it if I am even a little right, but it does suck to have to "worry" about what I am doing now again when I see new players everywhere. I try to encourage them as I feel bad for anyone at level 7 or 11 lol it reminds me of how long and hard I had to grind to get to level 119, I would not want to start over for anything. I actually have a second account with a level 5 character and I just cant bring myself to level him up, even though right now is a great time to do just that, I dont want to deal with all the noobs while I have a carbine, and a bolt action only, no ability cards, no horse, no anything, lol no way and I going through all that again. So, ok, player killing is back, hopefully, as we did they will adjust to the idea that there is more to the game than trying to gun fight everyone you encounter. I know the kid who attacked me was happy to do it, then glad I engaged him, for about 10 seconds, then not so much and he promptly left the server, lol so I feel like he learned a valuable lesson today, dont shot at players with exploding ammo and dyno arrows, and maxed out ability cards, you dont have a chance of surviving a second wave. He only killed me once because I dismissed him and was very casual about it, like no way he is going to shoot me, lol and I was wrong.
  15. I dont like that certain items are gold only, like the best saddle in the game for example, there is another almost exactly the same but the stamina drain and health drain are reversed, so I had to buy the beaver roping saddle over the cougar saddle because I never have 18 gold bars at one time lol and now that my guns are almost finished this will be my next gold purchase, but I think they should be offered in gold or cash as they are a performance item, not cosmetic, the only way to get that saddle currently is gold and that doesnt seem right to me, if you are willing to purchase gold bars then there ya go, I am not,
  16. I did misunderstand the first time yes. I know the upgrades cost gold only, that was what I was saying I do with my gold. When I read the fist part of your post, I thought by upgrades you meant actual upgrades, not cosmetics, but I understand now. Anyway I guess all you can do is what I have been doing, and as you get gold go to the gunsmith and keep upgrading them to the color you like. At least blacking them out is alot cheaper than making them gold. Mine look amazing. You cant use cash sadly, but this gives me a reason to care about earning gold. IT takes time like that depending on what you are doing, mine are basically 5 gold bars for every upgrade, so some weapons cost me 20 gold bars to change the look of, lol, but to me they look awesome, I made a custom outfit, a poncho, a sombreo, bandito or concho pants, etc.. the whole outfit is earth tones, white and browns, and my gloves match, my poncho matches my shirt, matches my pants, etc.. and they have gold accents, so woith my gold accents on my guns, barrels, etc.. it looks fantastic, Ill have to get a pic up actually now that I am saying it. I made a black and red outfit that I love and then I made this poncho outfit that is very different but I love it just as much even though it is very different, my guns look amazing with any outfit though, Pearl handles on my Lamats and black cylinders, then every other part gold, looks awesome with any outfit.
  17. At first I thought you meant modify your weapons like upgrade them to make them more effective, barrel length, rifling, etc.. But I see you mean cosmetic upgrades, for looks, I didnt get that at first. I dont think Rockstar is going to lower gold prices or lower what upgrades cost either, they give away a lot of gold for various promotions and it is easy enough to earn in several ways. What I did was every time I got 5 gold bars I went to the gunsmith and added some gold to my guns. I only use gold for that purpose, nothing else, so it is fun watching it accumulate then going to upgrade my weapons. I liked doing the carbine and double barrel shotgun, so when I play name your weapon my weapons are upgraded and modified compared to the stock weapons you otherwise get. I guess all you can do is not worry about upgrading the metals all at once, just do it when you can, in time you will get them all the way you want them, it is kind of rewarding to earn it slowly as you go, so later when they are all done you feel a sense of accomplishment, at least I do.
  18. I know for me when I have problems, I do a hard off on my xbox and then everything is great for about a week, if I notice glitches, drop outs, disconnects, etc.. I do it again, and it works for me, Many people play it and have very few if any problems so I would try it, or look at your network and see what you can do to fix it on your end? If you play wireless maybe try to plug in a cat 5 cable instead, etc..? Just a suggestion, I hate to hear some folks are having such troubles,
  19. LOL, makes sense. What makes you think there are more ps4 players? is that like a stated fact or are you just guessing? I dont doubt it, I just wonder where you got that. I know myself I play on an xbox one x so I can run the game at 4k in all its glory, for me it is all about the graphics and how well the game runs, I know the X sales have been really great, but being more expensive I suppose the other xbox consoles and ps4's probably do sell more as they cost a little less, I dont know, just guessing.
  20. Thanks for the input. Again, since I am not seeing any griefing, player killing, cheap shots, etc.. anymore I wonder if the difference is in our play styles. I avoid situations where you might find trouble, I dont ride up on others, I dont show up at hideouts and jump in when someone is clearing them, I dont look for people or trouble, if I find people I dont run away but I also dont look for people or get involved with them unless it is to stop a delivery, or other missions based activity. It seems some people are seeing the same behavior from others as before and I cant help but think it is just the way they travel through through the map and the way they approach things? I dont know of course, I am only speculating, but to me there is probably some reason for the player killing people you are finding.
  21. Also, I wonder how different the game is in this respect on PS vs Xbox? Like I see many griefing videos, and I noticed most I watch are PS4 players, I suppose it is pretty evenly split to be honest, but just now I was thinking, I wonder if it is or if it is worse/better on one or the other.
  22. Well your right, if you are determined to kill players you can def do that, I just dont see it in practice, I guess I am lucky, IF someone is that determined to kill players for no reason then so be it, but at least it isnt as easy as it was, there are consequences, and the attacked player can retaliate without incurring a bounty or any trouble or effecting their characters honor level. Have you been attacked by try hards, griefers and bottom feeders much since the update or are you one of those and just pointing out that you can still do it and do?
  23. Ok, to clarify, myself, everyone I have talked to and the people I play with, our experiences has been the game is a lot better in terms of random attacks, I didnt mean to speak for everyone. I havent seen the level of player killing that I experienced over the past 8 to 10 weeks since the update, that is my experience. whether you call it passive mode or defensive mode to me it is just an anti griefing measure put in place and it seems like it has worked pretty well, at least for me up til this point.
  24. Well, I disagree, it is NOT the same as it always has been, not even close. Usually prior to the update, anytime I ran into or passed another person, they generally took a shot at me, if I went to town to the butcher it was a challenge, now I can park my horse, walk down main st Valentine and do my business and not have any problems at all, so I dont consider that the same at all. I know about defensive mode, I call it passive mode, but ok whatever, semantics. It is hard for a new player with only a carbine to shoot you when they cant lock on, and once they shoot at you can lock on to them, not to mention they are massively outgunned. It just doesnt happen anymore. There are some new A holes that try to get close to you, but they cant lasso, or much else, so to me, the game is free of all the BS that made it unplayable, the occasional person shooting at me or my horse or stealing an item off my horse or whatever will pay for it, and there isnt much they can do about it. not to mention consequences, if your level 7 and have to pay for shooting people. Anyway the game is very diferent than it was 8 weeks ago. and I am glad.
  25. Absolutely, griefing is all but gone, there are still a lot of people willing to do it, but if you are in passive mode hunting and fishing or searching for treasures, etc.,. you should have no troubles
