I am not sure if this is a topic that will be taken well on here but I am sick of seeing everyone talk about politics online when we can be focusing on something more... ALIENS! I am one of those people who believe there is life out there but I am not sure as to what degree or how intelligent it is. There is just too much space on the universe to be void of life other than on earth.

I'm on the fence about intelligent life being out there. On one hand if you do the math, there's  0.00000000.001%(i think?) Chance of us being alone in the universe. Which means Aliens are guaranteed to be out there somewhere, but on the other hand. I have yet to have a UFO encounter, and if i do have one. Then I'll be a believer.

Possibility 1: There are over 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars in our universe, and we are alone.

Possibility 2: There are over 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars in our universe, and we are not alone.

One of these statements is true, and each of them are equally as profound.

Now, here are 2 problems with the idea that aliens have visited Earth, or ever will. Let me explain.

Problem 1: Timing

If life on earth were represented by a calendar, and 1st Jan 00:00 is the dawn of the first microbial life on the planet, humans, ie intelligent life, didn't turn up until 31st Dec at 23:58. The technology needed to communicate with other planets didn't come until 23:59:59.

The chances of us, intelligent beings with communication capabilities, being able to communicate with another set of intelligent beings within this infinitesimally small window that we each have, is virtually zero. Each of our windows of 1 second in a whole year would a) have to coincide and b) be long enough to make contact, which leads onto problem 2.

Problem 2: Distance

The second problem is that if there was intelligent life, capable of communicating, on the NEAREST habitable planet to us, and they looked down a telescope and looked at Earth, they would see dinosaurs. The time light takes to travel great distances is just too great. Nowhere in the universe can see human beings as they are now, let alone think to communicate with us.

The notion that flying saucers come to Earth is both ridiculous, and unfortunately, a bit ignorant.

Sorry to throw a damp cloth on it, but it's just not going to happen in our lifetimes.

I am on the fence as well. If there is life out there, it isn't in our Galaxy. We know more about space than our own freakin ocean at this point. I mean the DEEP parts of it. So I won't say there is no chance, but I also haven't been given proof. It is kind of how I feel when it comes to God. I don't think he doesn't exist but I don't feel like he does in the scope people generally do.

I religious faith and to me, I believe in that.  Now I don't believe in ghosts or aliens, not because I know they don't exists, but because I have never in my life seen and given a reason why they do.  As the X-Files said, "The truth is out there"  I may never know, but not sure I want intelligent life coming to our planet, when politics are at their current state.  I don't want to hear them say, "See I told you there wasn't any intelligent life on this planet and then leave."

It absolutely could be. Not a single scientist could say that it isn't. There could be life in our neighbouring solar system.

I am referring to the Milkyway galaxy. Sun to Pluto. While yes, there is a chance I don't think intelligent life is here. They would have destroyed us a long time ago 😂

No, the sun to Pluto is the Solar System, not a galaxy 😂 The Milky Way galaxy has over 250 billion solar systems.

I don't believe in them. I can't believe in something without proof. Maybe that is just me? I like facts, not theories or feelings. I have a friend who believes in aliens and I can talk about the topic rationally but no one has ever been able to change my mind on it.

This is my first post, so feel free to draw vapid assumptions about me from this. 🤣

So I just wanna preface my thoughts by saying I like listening to conspiracy theories, all kinds. For years I use to work a data entry job and so I passed the time by listening to audio books and youtube videos, for almost 5 years. I know so much crap about the occult and general conspiracy theories I am almost shamed. Not an expert, I just know more than I would admit in person. Anyway I say all that just to give my thoughts on aliens after years of consumption of conspiracy theories.

I don't think Aliens are actually physical beings from outer space. Aliens are actually spiritual beings. I think Aliens as we understand them are just demons. I'm thinking of it from the stand point that all the cultures or religions that speak of evil forces or whatever are speaking of what we now call Aliens.

To me it's weird that in much of the interviews with alien believers or people who claims to have interacted with them usually speak of sexual assault or some religious or philosophical experience. I was skeptical that space beings would travel so far just to teach humans about a new space God. Sure. that's what people did-still do but usually they just give religion to take something else. Of course I am not trying to rant about colonization-or even expect human behavior from Aliens it just seems weird to me that they only wanna probe and preach. Now if I am thinking about it as if Aliens are Demons well then yeah, that sounds about right, hurt and deception.

And then I stated thinking about all the footage of lights in the sky, or fighter jets chasing after stuff they see and how it moves in ways that defy gravity.  To me it made more sense that they were chasing something spiritual rather than physical. Sort of like Ghosts. (Yes I say Ghosts are Demons too) For me it was always the lack of technology or meaningful interaction that keeps me skeptical of aliens as physical beings.

The last thing that keeps me skeptical is a man named Alistor Crowely 1875-1947. I can't go into detail about the man here the post is long enough, do your own research. To keep it simple the man was an influential member of the occult. He had a spiritual friend that I would call a demon but he called a spiritual master. I attached a picture that Crowley drew of him.

That picture may remind you of...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grey_alien

From what I know of the man and what I can find about the origins of the grey alien it leads me to believe that the occult and aliens are linked somehow. I know people can be inspired and take things of others, etc but this and other skepticism make it hard for me to let it go I just can't get over the fact that so many 'alien fans' if I can call them that also pitch a previously unheard of religion.

TLDR: Aliens are demons that's why they only probe and preach they never got any cool tech, science, or anything to show physical presence.

Wait, what? Whoa...

unprovable nonsense

His/her (don't want to be assuming @Kazal's gender) idea might be "out there" but it's still a reasonable interpretation of "alien encounters". It really isn't any more farfetched than believing a being in the sky is responsible for creating the universe...

It's all unprovable nonsense. Only difference between what @Kazal said and what the bible says is that more people believe the book.

Don't mean to sound argumentative or like I'm singling out a religion to belittle, I'd say the same about any religion.

I actually agree with this. I have said it for years. Way back in the day the demons were masked as "gods and goddesses" and because of the boom of technology, they had to be more cleverly disguised as something people today would be drawn to and curious about. Mind you, I don't come from a religious background or anything like that. I just believe there is evil just as there is good in the non-physical world and both can come and go as they please. Maybe I am nuts 😆

I believe in aliens. Not because I have valid proof but because I can't help but feel like there is life that exists elsewhere in the giant universe. My one friend always says that if you want to be technical if you believe in God, angels, demons, ect. you also have to believe in aliens because by definition, they are not from or of this world.

Valid point and pending on one's perspective they maybe the same thing.

There's a difference between "Alien Life" and "Intelligent Life"; Alien Life can be anything from single-celled organisms to Tardigrades.

Put me firmly in the "yes" column, either way.  While I don't believe that we've been visited by "little green men" or "greys", I'm also acutely aware of the fact that it's entirely possible that not only do "aliens" exist, but they're here among us in ways we can't even perceive.  The Earth is billions of years old based on fossil records, or thousands of years old if you are an adherent to some religions.  In either event, our general understanding of atoms and subatomic particles wasn't verified until the early part of the 20th century.

In the lifespan of humanity, 100-120 years is small, barely a blip.  In the scheme of the Earth's history, it's infinitesimally insignificant.  We've only scratched the surface of our capacity for understanding: 50-60 years ago, a "computer was a manual device that completed calculations and took up the size of an entire room.  Now, we can access almost the entirety of humanity's collective knowledge from our phones, which are smaller than a deck of playing cards in many instances.

We're just now starting to understand how Dark Matter ties the universe together.  Voyager 1 has only been in interstellar space for a short while, and Voyager II is about to join it.  Those probes were launched decades ago, and they're still helping us redefine our understanding of the universe.

In any event, unless these aliens have plans to enslave humanity, I'm not overly concerned about whether or not they exist.  I choose to believe in them, but respect the opinion that they don't.  I believe in an invisible man in the sky who watches me in the shower, so I don't really have room to judge others' beliefs.

I don't know if I agree with it entirely but she has a very unique way of looking at the world and she always makes me think things over so it is fun to talk about stuff like this with her.

Try looking at this way, the Egyptians have hieroglyphics that show a superior race, in translations supposedly they call them gods.  What if they was real, just not from this planet.  That would make them aliens to us.

So to one set of humans they saw them from a perspective of them one thing and you and I being raised in a different time, may see them if the showed up as something else.  Not saying they are real, I have no real proof either way.  It would be a matter of perspective based on ones' personal knowledge.  Right or wrong.

I'm pretty sure that was actually part of one of their episodes.

Edit: That was a gif, but something got messed up. I think his face is funnier this way though, so I'm leaving it this way.

I was going to post the aliens meme in here but I was beaten to it.

I am not sure how I view the topic. I look through a lot of history and there has always been some kind of "non-human" worship even if it had nothing to do with religion. The Ancient Egyptians (as mentioned), the Mayans, and the Ancient Greeks... Plenty of others too they all had their "gods" some of which looked nothing like humans.

That show is f*cked, but they do bring up some good points. I used to watch it until I got sick of the repetitive "but could it have been aliens" every 2 minutes. It's like a laugh track in a sitcom... But worse...
