Moonlit.Ranger
So i’ve never done a forum discussion before but i just had to put this out there. So i know that with RDR 2 being released and the online compenent soon to follow (This is november 2018 if youre reading this from the future) that there is no way in hell there will even be thoughts of a RDR 2 sequel from rockstar since we’re not even talking about the release of GTA 6 (which is probably 5-7 years off), but just suppose for a second how awesome it might be if we had another sequel to RDR 2. And i know what youre thinking, ‘how can there be any sequel to RDR 2 if its set before RDR 1? Well just hear me out for a second cause im writing this completely improvised. What if the sequel to RDR 2 was about Sadie Adler? She did say she had hopes of going to south america cause she knew it was wild and she might join or help a rebellion or something and meet a handsome man and rockstar does desperately need a female protagnist especially a strong, witty and likeable character such as Sadie. And i know it cant be Charles since he wanted to go to canada to start a family but even with him theres potential sequel. I know this is a stretch but it could be a similar situation to Marston where his family is either in danger or killed so he is seeking revenge but that may be an exhausted storyline so i dont think rockstar will go with that. Theres still Sadie though and I honestly hope that if Rockstar was going for a sequel, they stick with sadie since it makes sense i suppose. Anyways thanks for reading this lengthy forum topic and i hope i havent wasted your time with my thoughts on the matter.
Minimoni
I hope the next Red Dead game will take place in the 1870-1889 era. It is a way more appropriate time for a western themed game. I hope we will see the great age of gunslingers and outlaws while the West was still the “Wild West”. I also hope we will see more of the classic guns that I associate with the genre, like the Colt navy/army/dragoon, Remington’s equivalents and iconic guns like the Lemat. The game itself will hopefully not take place solely in a desert environment but with many different type of states, just like RDR2. Maybe the big city in the next game could be something of a San Francisco kind of city!? And with small places like Deadwoodesque towns and such. I would like that the next RD game did not have anything with the Redemption-storyline to do at all except maybe a cameo or two.
FLIP
I am not sure which direction they will go or if they will even do another one but I would likely be interested. It is a bit too soon for me to discuss this though seeing as I haven't even completed everything in RDR2 yet lol I'll come back to this in a few months. KRooKeD KRoW
Would be interesting to see the beginnings of the Van Der Linde gang, play as Dutch this time, doing small jobs at first, getting more members, maybe it ends when he and the gang end up where the story is when you start RDR2. Kinda get a complete story. Edited November 21, 2018 by KRooKeD KRoW

I'm still on chapter 2 as well, and NOT because of time restrictions: Legend of the East Satchel All dreamcatchers found All rock carvings found All accessable dinosaur bones All accessable legendary fish/animals And now I'm trying to work on some challenges. Might decide to go hunt down all the special items next instead. The horseman #9 challenge is a bitch right now... There is so much this game has to offer besides the base story. Edit: damn, I should've made a pie... Edited November 22, 2018 by Truth

It's great that you're doing the challenges because they can be a bit overwhelming after the endgame (I was still on bandit and survivalist #1 after the epilogue). As for horseman #9, just take it easy. I used an Arabian and I think I had a good 4 minutes to spare. I also placed 3-4 map markers so I could easily find where I needed to put my next waypoint. Don't take too many shortcuts because if you fall it's an automatic fail. And since the area you're heading to is on lockdown I suggest you fortify the cores on yourself and your horse. Good luck!

They were probably two of the most likeable gang members and its a shame we did not get to find out where they ended up. In terms of RDR3, it would be great if they did a third instalment but realistically I can't see where they could go with the story. I don't think another prequel would work and to be honest, I wouldn't fancy playing as Dutch. I would actually prefer Rockstar to work on a completely new title, like an open world pirate game. Ride south from Van Dorn, across the bridge, head for Flatneck Station, cross the railway bridge, the ride to the Owanjila dam, cross that and into Blackwater. I did on John's standard horse and had about 4 mins to spare.

I got there the first try. But didn't notice I had to stay dry... Everyother time they've killed me as I crossed the border... I have plenty of other challenges to work on. I got all the treasure hunts (explorer challenges) done earlier. Spent some time on herbalist (couldn't find that damn berry), and got a couple Hunter/survivalist done. It's been a productive day. Taking a break now before I go over to my parents. @BropolloCreed79 one of these days I'll get around to giving it a shot. Hope they're delicious! @RustyLovesBeefarino not too worried about it. I'll either do a second play through, or focus on the online mode. Edited November 22, 2018 by Truth

Yeah i do suppose there isnt much room for any sequel since 1914 is well beyond the end of the wild west era and a DLC would be much more suitable for Charles and Sadie but even thats probably not gonna happen cause after RDR online is released, rockstar will abandon any hopes of making story DLC and focus on RDR online updates and expansions. On the other hand, A pirate game is actually a really good idea! Never really thought about it but it seems really intriguing. We got a little taste of how a pirate game would look like when we went to guarma. I just hope they start working on the sequel to GTA 6 since i really dont want to have to wait another 8-10 years for it.

They could remaster it and obviously add more missions, side missions, hunting, side activities etc. I really want to experience the story of Red Harlow but not have to buy it on the PS2 to do that. Perhaps, but I still do not see why we cannot have both. I am certain that R* will make more Wild West games since RDR2 is such a success. So Luckily it is more or less inevitable that R* will continue their Western-setting in one way or the other and I really cannot see them going forward in time, continuing the Van der Linde storyline. The only logical thing to do here since R* actually have monopoly on the Western-themed games and it has obviously been very lucrative, is to make more games in a Western setting. And just as they do with GTA, the RD-games do not need to have the same protagonists in every game. I think the next game will take place in the same fictional America as the RDR and RDR2 games but earlier with cameos from known and loved/hated characters. In that way we as players will feel that the setting has a continuity and even if we plays as some person that has nothing directly to do with the Van der Linde-gang, nothing stops R* from letting us meet a young Dutch or other member during a side-mission or such. A new protagonist with a story set in those legendary days that Dutch so obviously is dreaming about, would expand an already loved fictional world and it will let us as players understand why Dutch wants to go back to that Wild age of heroes and outlaws. It is a smart way of storytelling without necessarily letting us play as any already known character and while showing pieces of the old story, at the same time starting a complete new one. I would love to experience San fransiscoeaque city, Deadwoodeaque towns, Hell on wheels railroad competition and fight between ranchers and the likes of the Santa Fe-ring. Even the strained relationship between the north and the south during the 1870s could be used, why not let us play a freed slave turned hero/cowboy/lawman/outlaw/prospector and much else!? It would be a perfect way to play a protagonist that is African-American in an age when that was really hard and the story would have natural reasons for that character to be an outlaw against his will or trying to stay on the side of the law despite the corruption and all other problems R* want to put in our way. That is a story I would love to play! And R* is the perfect company to make that story since they have showed us with the RDR games that they can write deep and heartbreaking drama and still make us feel as we are the character they made for us. I do not think R* will stop making Western-themed games as there is too much money in it to just give up.
