Something I just thought of was what if they make us pay to play online?

Like what if they make the online end an "add on" feature to the game and charge an additional $20 or $30 to play it in the form of DLC. Would you still play it? Assuming it was THAT good?

It would have to really be good for me to pay. I know that sounds like I don't like the game enough but I can live without the online end of the game because I know the story will be worth playing.

YES! I may be one of the only people to say this but had I been more interested in GTA like I am for RDR, I would have paid to play GTA V online if they made you. I don't mind paying to play a game if I can enjoy it for several hours a day.

I don't think I would. At that point I feel like I would just have to stick to the campaign. I already have to pay to play on the system, I don't want to pay for that too.

Yeah I wouldn't pay either. I already bought the game ya know?

I hate to say it but if it were to be THAT good, I likely would too. I would complain. Oh man would I complain but still...

I think we can safely say that with how well Rockstar has done with the GTA Online Shark Card model, that this would never ever happen for Red Dead Online.

BUT if they made it maybe two tiers, and paying players got all sorts of VERY cool stuff, maybe I would consider it.

World of Warcraft was the only game deep and engaging enough for me to pay to play it every month. RDR2 is gonna need to be MIND BLOWING to pull this kind of model off!

Most likely a no from me but I'd be too cheap to even pay for the PSN sub anyway which will most likely be a requirement regardless. I had some fun with the online mode in the original but it wasn't quite as enjoyable for me personally. Also I have terrible internet so that probably explains why I also lose all of those races online in GTA V :P

It depends on what the cost is and what you can do. If you have to pay AND pay for DLC, then I would likely never even bother. I can't see them having us pay though. They make a killing using DLC packages.

Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. NOOOOOPE.

I pay to play on my console already plus I pay for my internet. I am not going to pay ANOTHER monthly fee just to play RDR2 online. I would honestly be pretty ticked off if they did this to us.

Old thread but I wanted to say something.

What if games in general started doing this? Like instead of paying your console to play online games, you had to pay game individually. So if the devs decided to charge, you would be forced to pay BUT would not be paying a monthly fee to PS/Xb, would that change your minds?

Wouldn't that mean I had to pay for every game then? I mean if it is only like $1 or $2 a month, maybe but it would likely be $5 or $10 so that would end up being too much. I mean that is fine for people only looking to play one game at a time but that is not my style. I like to cycle through 3 or 4 at a time.

Yeah I agree with you. WoW is a game that could do it. Not many can. They just don't have enough people or a big enough community. Also, they don't give players enough reasons to want to pay. RDR2 will be a great game but the online end of it will not be worth paying extra for.
