Reyes
I was talking to my friend earlier and instead of it being like GTA V, what if we are able to play as 4 different characters in RDR2? Like I know a lot of pictures do show 4 guys, some show 6 but the idea interested me enough to start thinking more on it. Like if you are able to play as 4 different guys then you will have 4 different stories going, thus making the story longer. Since there are 6 people featured as part of this gang, what if they have DLC planned for the future to play as the 2 others? That would even further lengthen the story. Binzee
I think it would be heaps better than 3 or 4 at once, which personally i didnt like. I think thats a cool idea but might be a bit hard to make
Archbell
I don't think the number of protagonists we'll be playing as is predetermined by the number of people seen in various screenshots, most of the screenshots show the same individual who looks very similar to the man seen in the centre of the artwork. I'm not expecting to see multiple protagonists in RDR2, many people didn't like the way it was implemented in GTA V as it left little room for character development. I will place the million I won from predicting RDR2 will be delayed till next year on that there will be more than 1 protagonist.

I mean a lot of people did complain about and the last game had multiple screen shots where more than one man was shown. It can be about a gang without the need to play as more than one character. D3x
Well the protag thing is only a theory so I am not sure. I mean I wouldn't mind being able to pay as 4 characters but these characters will be a lot closer than the ones in GTA V. I mean they will be in the SAME gang, basically considering each other family. So in that, it would not make sense to play as more than one character. For the sake of the topic though, I would enjoy playing as 4 guys but I don't see it happening.
ChrisCr0ss
Why the hell not? I mean if they are going to go with the protagonist route, may as well up the ante and let us play as 4. It has to be different enough from GTA V to stand out so I think that would be a better option. I know it isn't their typical style but allowing us to even choose who to play as for certain missions would be sweet.

Obviously just a hunch but from the relative success of that approach in GTAV I see it as very unlikely that we won't see it again in RDR2. The fact you're in a big gang gives me more of a feeling that there will be 3 or 4 protags like V.
NicNak
I am still thinking there will be at least 3 people to the main story just because of it being a gang. Also, I heard of more people liking the protag thing than hating it so I think they will aim to get some GTA V people over to RDR2 using protags. CrabApples
Not sure about 4 players, I think 3 would be the cap if they do it BUT I like the idea of DLC.. Like say there are 6 total main gang members... Have 3 do the main story and have maybe 3 separate DLC packs for the rest.

They will allow us to play as all 6 (assuming there is a main 6) and the story will feel much longer with the added DLC side stories.
Jamesie
How about two as part of the main story and then a few of the gang members here and there throughout the campaign only to flesh out their background a bit? Maybe this could be done in a way to show you how they came to join the gang and once they have a certain "rep" with the game you get to play a little more of their back story to learn a bit more. Would be nice to have a few that you can switch between, think about the older game Desperados: - Start playing with the main character John Cooper and then doing a bit of a chapter to then unlock Doc McCoy. - Later with Doc and John you then unlock Kate O'Hara and get to switch and play with her, Doc or John.
CowBoii
^ I can dig that. It would work really well and be different enough to feel fresh but still true to a Rockstar game. I am not bothered by there being one, or three, or even six playable characters just so long as it is done the right way. Technically, RDR1 had 2 characters if your remember. Yeah this one of the many bit that makes me interested to see what will happen with RDR2 (prequel we get to play with character 1, sequel we get to play with character 2). In a way I'd prefer a new playable character (or multiple) but whatever they deliver I'll be okay with it as long as what they deliver feels fresh and has a good story. D3x
I always forget about Jack. He played such a short role that I had wished there was more to him than that. Like being playable and what not.
elmZ
I have a question... Why? Why four players? Doesn't that seem like overkill to anyone else on here? I mean 3 is pushing it but it can be enjoyable. More than 3 is just too many without the game being co-op. IF the game is co-op, 4 or even 6 would be fine.
