How does Rockstar stay so quiet?

Sparked this up from the general RDR2 chat.

I find it interesting really. I made a joke about drugs, aliens, and toxins in the water but it has to be so dang hard to keep their mouths shut on this game. Like it isn't down to like 5 people, but surely A LOT of people know. They know enough to spoil things yet don't.

If a day and age where movie/tv spoilers, nudes, and credit card numbers get leaked... How does Rockstar keep mouths shut on RDR2?

I think they know the importance of the game and all the people working under Rockstar want to keep it a surprise. Sure a lot of things get leaked today but certainly not everything. It is not too hard to believe a mega gaming company can keep quiet.

It has to be all about the money. Strict contracts/NDA's and no doubt heavy monitoring of anything released online regarding the title to prevent leaks of any kind. The more they can hide the more they can push up the excitement any hype. I don't want any leaks but I would like some more information from them just to keep me from going mad.

The devs are likely threatened.

"If you leak any shred of information you will not only be fired, we will make sure you NEVER work in the gaming industry ever again!"

Seems about right...

There could also be an element  to the way they've structured development.  IIRC, Apple commits all of the departments to separate NDA's so that no two departments ever know what the other is up to, which is supposed to prevent full-blown leaks, sort of like the water-tight compartments of the Titanic.  Well, those didn't really work because 'reasons', but you I think you get my point.  ;)

Very interesting... I suppose it could definitely be true for lower level personnel.

I think it is more a less an unspoken trust. Like why would anyone in this kind of company risk losing their job just for a spoiler? I know if I worked for someone like Rockstar I would take my job seriously just as they do I am sure.

I feel like a lot of major gaming companies and any company in the entertainment industry really have VERY strict contracts. So you basically have to sign on that you will keep your mouth just or you won't get paid. Think of a movie star giving away the ending to a movie they stared in months before it came out in temperatures... people would be pissed.

This is what I was thinking. Like no one would be that stupid enough to risk their job (a steady one) in this economy over trolling out details.

Yeah this is what I was referring to above. Like who would honestly risk this just to be a troll? I would love to work for a major gaming company and I would take it beyond serious if I did.

I find it hard to believe that no one out there knows anything. I am sure some of these people do talk with family and friends but I guess there is a difference between talking and actually showing visual proof online. Like people only seem to believe something if they can read it off a computer, phone, or tablet screen.

I hate to be that guy but I was hoping someone leaked something by now. I can't find ANYTHING. I have been looking for weeks. I am hoping we see some news this upcoming week or the next week.

I am starting to feel the same. I come on here and check every few days, even when I am not posting just to see. These guys are spot on in the blog with catching the news fast. We should be getting something soon man.

The news will be coming guys. I would like to think that when they said "this summer" they meant it. It would be stupid to wait much longer considering the game comes out early next year. Well, maybe not "early" but 2nd quarter is to be expected. I wouldn't want someone to leak something for the sake of being impatient.
