Private lobbies are coming!!!!!!

It appears all of  our hopes and dreams may just come true....lol.. Seriously though, there is coding already in the game for private lobbies.  Which means that one R* is done testing server health all they will need to do is turn on the option.  I'm guessing this will be part of the "Anti-griefing update" that they said is coming in January.  Oh I can hear the cries of the griefers now...

The moment, when you'll join the private lobbies, just to find out that all butchers are on vacation.

Lmao.... probably... I know some stuff will be locked in the private lobbies, but I think the butchers will be unlocked. Hunting is the main reason  most people want private lobbies,  so unless R* wants a class action suit on their hands.....lol

Hmmmm... Well, it'll be interesting to see the details if/when this happens.  I'm not yet convinced private lobbies are the way to go (especially if they have some features, especially hunting, locked out or nerfed).

I worry that they'll be nerfed lobbies where it is much harder to make money and xp (which makes sense, since less risky), and  then the 'normal' lobbies (which you'll need to be part of to do missions or rank up effectively) will become much more heavily populated by griefers (of higher levels and money) and will be horrible to play in.

At the moment I can cope with the level of griefing, even if it is annoying.  But increase the concentration of griefers, remove the more mature players, and allow the griefers to rank up faster ... Well, that'd be a nightmare!

I'm concerned if this is R* main way to eliminate griefing.  There are alternative solutions which wouldn't involve the nightmare scenario above, IMHO.

That's always the fear with private lobbies.  Griefers aren't going to  play hours on private lobbies just to rank up... Griefers have very small mental capacities and don't understand the concept of actually playing a game to rank up.

On GTA, we would play private lobbies until we needed to run missions. Then we would join a public lobby, get our dose of toolbag and some cash and then return to the private lobbies.

They will be nerfed somewhat, but when you factor in the constant interruptions from griefers and loss of pelts, the  money earned winds up being the same, just minus the toolbags.

Lol okay.. I didn’t know there was a proper way to play and rank up in a game. Some people hunt animals for XP.  Killing players gives you XP. So some maybe prefer gain XP that way for a more challenging hunt.

Personally, I don't care to dissect trolls as I simply block them and move on (whether that's in the game or in the forums).  I don't care to understand how they think what they value, etc.  It's a wasted effort IMO.

In GTA you could still run heists without dealing with trolls but business missions were another story.  In all honesty, I would use the MTU setting to force myself into a public session by myself or a friend so I could run my CEO / VP businesses in peace.

I really hope RDO doesn't follow the same path and lock most of the businesses / activities behind Free Roam.  ......at least not without addressing the freedom from consequences trolls currently have in this game.  I'm just glad R* has listened and will be implementing anti-griefing measures in RDO after the holiday.  ......or should I say cautiously optimistic.

I never liked their particular model for blending PvE with PvP but perhaps they can strike a balance in this game that works.

I'm not really excited about private lobbies.  I like the idea of private instances, like those in the story missions early on.  But private lobbies for Free Roam? Nah, thanks.

I would much prefer to see them just make use of the honor system, bounties, and community involvement (PC Bounty Hunting) instead to discourage griefing.  There are lots of ways this could be done.  Private free roam just seems like lazy development and given the lack of real content in the online game, sounds immensely boring.  jmo.

If they could do that properly, make use of the honor system, I would totally be ok with that. The problem is trolls will always find a way to troll, not to mention the hackers. GTA had a problem with hackers dropping money on people in public lobbies and then banning the people who received the money.  It took me a week to get back online because some tool dropped money near my character and r* flagged me.

I hadn't seen that datamined copy before. It can't get here soon enough as far as I'm concerned.

I'm willing to give just about anything a try to avoid the madness existing online now.

The most fun I've had in this game was the one time I found myself in a lobby alone. I missed the social aspect but the freedom to fish, hunt and just explore more than made up for it. I didn't want to risk losing the lobby so I didn't even try to invite anyone, But a private lobby that would allow numbers of invited gamers would be perfect.
