How are YOU preparing for release in October?

As I understand it, gameplay mechanics will still be relatively similar to the original game.

I actually kept my PS3 JUST so I could keep RDR and play it again to prepare for release.

I used to be good at multiplayer. I mean really good. But I have so much rust on me from not playing for the past five years, I don't know how much of that ability is salvageable.

Me? I just started the RDR single player campaign over again. I'm not about to go back into multiplayer cold. I figure going through the single player campaign will be the best training I can have. Then when I've completed that, I'll venture out into multiplayer again to try to gain back some of the skill I had in 2013.

Then -- if so, then I'll be ready to go when RDR2 releases. (Well, at least when I get it for a Christmas present in December, I will be.)

What about you? Are you rusty from lack of play over the years? Or have you been playing consistently since 2010?

I've been playing Red Dead Redemption and it's multiplayer on and off since 2010 but I don't know if it'll make me any better at Red Dead Redemption II when it drops, the shooting has been described in previews by those who've seen it as a mix between Max Payne 3 and GTA V.

@Cokeyskunk this time you get to give ME shit for not playing the game lol

In preparation, I should probably give the first one a spin. Didn't really get to play it much before I was distracted by some other game. Hopefully I still have it.

???? There.

If you don't still have it, it should be crazy cheap now. Just look on eBay or Amazon. I think it'll be the best prep for the release. And as soon as you're done with it, release time will be right around the corner. ????

$6 for the standard and $12 for the GOY.

I can't believe I forgot to check over the weekend lol

Still have plenty of boxes to go through though... I'm a lazy mover.

Just make sure it has Undead Nightmare. You're enormously missing out if you don't have it.

Am I the only person who has never played that? I 100%ed RDR but have just never been interested in the zombie stuff, and definitely not interested enough to pay money for it.

No. I played it for like an hour or so 8 years ago and never finished. Something I’ve always meant to get back to but never did. Zombies always bored me too.

I love all genres.  And I adored RDR. So adding a "nightmare" / "elseworlds"-type game mode to it made it all the better to me. It was actually a ton of fun, and they were brilliant to release it around Halloween time when everyone was in the mood for something like that.

I recommend you both give it another chance. Hell, think of it as an RDR adventure you still haven't yet taken, but can RIGHT NOW instead of having to wait 'til October. Don't approach it as "zombie crap," approach it as -- what would Marston do if he woke up one morning, and the world were like this? Immerse yourself in the character and handle things the way he would. Help people. Put some awful creatures out of their misery. See where life takes you.

That's what I did, and I loved it. I hope you do, too.

Other than constantly reading as much news etc., as possible, to get ready for the release, I have been playing the RDR GOY edition constantly.  Finished the single player and playing multiplayer a lot. (although there's still some annoying glitches.)   I have been waiting for this game to be announced and released for years.  Since my PS4 conveniently died after 2 years,  I will be buying a new one a week before the release date.  I will also be treating myself  to a high end mic/headset.  Other than that,  I know I have already planned to hibernate for the entire weekend  of the 26th, with very limited sleep, lots of  food delivery, and probably will be feeling too ill at least for the Monday, to go to work!

  • 1 month later...

The moment we had another release date, i deliberated booking some time off work to get REAL into the game and become fully immersed. If you're anything like me, you'll be busy exploring as much of the world as possible that's open to you from the off, maybe get real good at hunting and providing for camp and of course building the relationship between me and my ride.

I have booked a whole week off work since i'm not going away this year so ill be ordering in, getting fat and getting no sleep! haha CANNOT FRICKIN WAIT!! This will also prove to be the last week i get to be totally selfish and ditch my social life and forget that i'm getting my first house with my other half ;) hope my moving date doesn't clash with the release date hahahaha

I am playing RDR1 story mode and Max Payne 3. But i am not playing them as a sort of training. I am doing so for the story...And being so close to the release of RDR2 it is the only way i can find to make this waiting bearable.

How exactly are you meant to prepare? October happens to be a busy month for me; I'm going to the other side of the planet for my brother's wedding and a once in a life time holiday and second year of uni starts just before that holiday. Most of September is going to be spent preparing for uni and for our holiday. After the holiday, I'll literally be studying all the time and before I know it, RDR2 will be at my door! ❤️ I still can't help thinking about it and for a long time, I've been more excited about RDR2 than my holiday, but now my holiday is approaching, my mind has shifted and I am focused on the events coming first; I'll enjoy RDR2 afterwards.

It always helps when you have other things to be excited about. I am going away with the family at the end of September, its only a long weekend, but its for my dads 60th so there is 6 of us going and renting one of those luxury lodges with the hot tub so I’m really looking forward to that. After that though I’ve got nothing so October is going to drag!
