Will RDR Online be as exciting as GTAO?

They are limited with the aspects of reality but even GTA V bent those so I am expecting them to do the same eventually with RDR2 online. It won't be as vibrant without the technology, cars, planes, and so on but it will still be a lot of fun.

I myself am more concerned about whether Red Dead Online will live up to Red Dead Redemption's Multiplayer or not, GTA Online has some really engaging features like owning property and extended character customization but overall I found GTA Online to be a stunningly beautiful but broken game.

There's a serious lack of skill based PVP in GTA Online, it's non existent in Freeroam. It doesn't even feel like Grand Theft Auto anymore, everyone has the armaments of a small country so it's more like a third person Battlefield game these days which means new players don't even have a chance.

I think there are some great features they could bring over from GTA Online but I'd much prefer they made balancing in Red Dead Online their first priority and therefore leave out GTA Online's God Mode and abysmal PVP combat.

That's true there's no PVP skill in the game anymore. And you're absolutely right it's like an open world battlefield. Nothing is balanced. It caters too much to noobs. RDR is different and the PVP was so skill based atleast in Auto aim so I just don't see how they will expect people to have near as much fun unless they add all the crazy stuff they have in GTA. Majority are noobs

I personally don't need much from a multiplayer Freeroam to keep me entertained, just sharp, clean gameplay and some friends to ride with. This game is not gonna sell anywhere near as many copies as GTA V and that's because it's a Western game and is not gonna be everyone's cup of tea so Rockstar shouldn't feel the need to make it appeal to everyone who plays GTA Online.

Rockstar could do a ton of things to make the game exciting without messing up the balance of the multiplayer. They could implement Freemode Events like in GTA Online but with a Western twist, they could give players the freedom to not only buy goods from NPCs but sell goods to NPCs or they could expand on GTA Online's Bounty system and make it more engaging.

I think GTA caters to more gankers then noobs.  GTA Online isn't necessarily easy, it is made harder because you have avoid the trash then just focus on the game itself.

Generally speaking, those who like games from Rockstar, typically find similar details that draw you to their games.  Though I don't expect it to be the same, I do expect there to be similarities between GTA:O and RDR2:O

It is going to be exciting for different reasons. It clearly isn't going the be the same thing with a Western filter put over it or anything like that. There will be noticeable differences between the two games but they will be good differences.

I have to agree with this. I popped in gta to screw around for a bit this weekend. I was doing heists for a while and they weren't too difficult. Eventually, I got into a group with 2 higher level players (like 150+) and found that they didn't need me at all. They had what appeared to be a delorean (which could fly) and they were shooting rockets. How the hell could I possibly stand a chance if I were up against them?

I did a few heists with a different group later on too. We finished a heist and (I thought) we started loading into a new one. Before I even realized we were back in the regular GTAO (where you need to bank your money or you lose it) one of the people I was just playing with killed the rest of us... Not sure why it would drop us all back into the game right next to each other, but that was bullshit... He probably made an extra 100k for that move. Can't say I wouldn't have done the same thing, but that shouldn't even be possible...

Majority of that crazy stuff to make the game fun, is usually only fun when used against another player.   Many times it is griefing.

They should have two types of sessions. One that is balls to the wall, zombies, pegasus', aliens and an assortment of ridiculous sh*t. And one that is grounded and realistic. You'll find me in the latter.

I'm hoping Rockstar won't release update after update where they add increasingly crazy vehicles, weapons and features like they did with GTA Online, I'm doubtful they'll take this route however after all the time they've spent developing realistic features and gameplay mechanics for Red Dead Redemption II so I think it's unlikely we'll be seeing aliens, zombies, flying horses etc in Red Dead Online.

I am however hoping that there'll be two types of Freeroam, a Friendly Freeroam and a Normal Freeroam. If Rockstar decide to include another glorified version of God Mode in Red Dead Online like they did with GTA Online instead of different Freeroam types I'm gonna make sure to stay well clear of that shit show.

Haha honestly. The game has become a bit of a joke in my eyes. They really can't implement anything crazy into this game just really ouldn't work.

I would probably play Undead Nightmare online (only if it was like the original), but would want it on different servers then the regular.  Which is probably asking a bit much.

I guess it would be cool to have a crew and have undead nightmare missions but it's only fun for so long killing NPCs. Be cool if they had a Nazi Zombies tppe gamemode or something. Kinda like survival from GTA V I guess.

As long as they don't keep releasing rubbish adversary modes every week. Seriously, does anyone even play those?

No.

That's so true...and the other factor are the players who just get around guns blazing and, the worst for me: players that you finish heists and missions with, and at the end of the session just kill you and get your money...No fun.

Then they'll have to release a Killer Queen pack.

I hear she's dynamite with a laser beam.

Edit: @Cokeyskunk, the only issue with editing a post is that I'm unable to quote new material when editing a post.  Of course, I could just be a dullard who doesn't know how to do it properly...  No, it's the software that is to blame!
