I want the physical copy. I am old school and like feeling like feeling like my younger self ripping off the cellophane and getting a whiff of the toxic plastic fumes when I pop the case open.

It's not really possible for me to get physical copies where I live, so I'm going digital. Earlier in this thread I think I talked about the US version being more expensive than the UK one (which is where my Amazon account is based) but I've read a way around this so will be digitally downloading after preordering from amazon US.

I really don't think it's worth the $100+ (not sure what it's at now) per year unless you buy a ton of stuff randomly throughout the year. If not for the student discount (50% off prime membership) I probably would've dropped it by now. I should really check out the video/music stuff though...

It's worth it to me for the shipping savings alone.  My wife is as addicted to shopping on Amazon as I am to beer.

Plus, they have The Grand Tour, which will keep me subscribed as long as they keep pumping out episodes.

At this point, just because it is more convenient for my laziness, I have preordered it on the xbox marketplace. I don't want to deal with a midnight release or going out in the morning to get the game. I used to be one of those guys who never wanted everything to go digital but now I see the benefit of it. More time to sleep lol

The only game I ever pre-ordered was Friday the 13th, and that's because I got in on a special with Amazon to have it delivered on release day for less than 20 bucks. Something tells me RDR2 is going to be siiiiggggnnnifffiiiccannnntttlllyyyyy more than than, so I'll just wait until Christmas to receive it as a gift, and watch videos and listen to all the members' wonderful spoiler-free stories and advice until then.

Just guilt your s.o. into buying it for you like I did.  Leave it up on Amazon and walk away from the laptop.  I usually do this after intentionally browsing things for her and our kids first, so when she inevitably sees the browsing history.....

You have an s.o. who picks up on stuff like that. Mine would just close it and head to Google Images to get inspiration for her next party invitation or cake creation.

Getting physical.

Sorry for the bad meme.

I considered getting the digital version but I like to keep the cases and I want to see it in my collection.

That is one of the most HQ gifs I have ever seen. Most of them are overly optimized and look fuzzy. What movie is this from? I recognize it.

One of a handful of films that can break me out of any slump.  The Big Lebowski.  It's the part where

Spoiler

The Dude crashes his car into a dumpster after dropping a roach in his lap while driving.  He's looking at Larry's homework which he fished out of the seats.  This leads to the best part of the whole film, where he and Walter go to Larry's house to confront him about stealing the car earlier in the movie.

Is there a third option? Like can I just get a microchip version where the game is implanted in my brain? That way I can play it any time I want... Though I don't think that would end up. (I see padded walls in my future)

Because if you buy a digital version you can't play it if the network or your internet is down.

You mean you can't download it in the first place, right? Digital games are stored on the console and you can play them whether you have internet or not. There's literally no difference between them and physical copies, other than the initial install.

Digital for me, primarily because I'm getting lazy in my old age and don't see myself ever wanting to sell the game.

Plus you'd only get $1.25 for it

My mistake, it's only when you're signed out of PlayStation Network or it's under Maintenance when you can't play a game. I don't know how it works on Xbox. But I've had this happen to me a few times on my PlayStation. And it f*cking sucks 😕.

It has to be set as your home xbox in order to play games offline...

I discovered this a couple months ago when my internet went out for a few days. When I moved I hooked up my spare xbox, so I was unable to play any games on it.

This could also be a problem if you gameshare. I can have a friend set my xbox as HIS home xbox, and have access to all games that either of us owns. If the internet went out, I wouldn't be able to play anything unless I logged in with his profile. It's kind of goofy, but good to know if you have sporadic internet problems (like I apparently do).

Edit: not that either of you were asking, I'm just killing time at work...

That's the nature of the beast though.  For me, I've had hits and misses when it comes to buying games new.  There 's some (like RDR2, The Division, or Fire Pro Wrestling World) that I'll always have until I pick up a new system--and then there's others, like Monster Hunter, Conan Exiles, or Friday the 13th, that I either sour on quickly, or devolve into total trainwrecks because of the developers.  In those instances, I was able to either return the game for a full refund (Conan), or receive more than 50% credit (Monster Hunter and Friday the 13th).  That credit takes some of the sting out of the initial purchase and makes it easier to just reinvest in a new game.
