I'm in Tumbleweed and it's a ShootFest. I'm trying to make it to the bar without a Christmas carbine to the head. While the carnage continues outside I'ma gonna try and get served a whiskey, find a seat and listen to the goddamn pianist play me a Christmas carol. :D XxX4 points

It was awesome. I joined up with HooverRAD and Chavez LL and we hunted, fished, threw dynamite, sold stuff at the butchers, rode all over, did missions and most of all had a blast! I had not joined others I did not know in a posse before but it's great - try it! Hopefully this will be a regular thing!2 points

Bingo. A lot of people don't realize that the common names for firearms (as they know them) are manufacturer names (including the AR-15, which stands for "ArmaLite Rifle"--the original manufacturer, and not 'assault rifle' as many assume). As such, the names "Winchester", "Henry", and "Colt" are brand names, so including them in the game without paying a licensing fee or having the permission of the company would be grounds for a civil suit. R* doesn't own those brand names, so they can't use them without permission. And no company worth billions of dollars is going to just loan out their name and brand without (A) significant financial consideration, and/or (B) control over how their brand is represented. Having any one of those three brands with inferior stats to one or the other two companies would be bad for business and branding. That's why the names are different in the game.2 points

lol.... It's just something that had always been in my life. It's not a big part of my life but simply part of it. I'm no expert though. My Blackhawk is probably the closest thing to a 19th century design I own (although with a modern cocking design, transfer bar, etc.). ....my 1911 would be next even in it's modern form. Although I do have fond memories shooting my Dad's 30-30 Winchester. Hickcock45 did a recent video on the guns of RDR2 that may interest you (if you haven't seen it already). Great enthusiast and really down to earth. He owns most of the real life equivalents.2 points

@Abysstic You're absolutely right. The Schofield would be faster to unload and reload due to the top break design and the way the empty cases were ejected. .....and yes, it was designed as a cavalry pistol that could be unloaded / reloaded one handed if needed. Schofields also came in a variety of calibers (e.g. .44 S&W, .45 Schofield, etc.). They were not vastly inferior to the .45 Colt ammunition found in the SAA design and by contrast, were quite effective. I own a Ruger Blackhawk which is essentially modeled after the same single-action design. While I can unload that pistol rather fast, it's nowhere near as quick as a Schofield would be. You still have to rotate the cylinder and eject each spent casing one by one. It's funny..... The "Cattleman" is actually the name of the model Uberti makes that replicates the old Colt SAA design.2 points

I highly doubt they would do something like that intentionally. This isn't Gun Media we're talking about. I'm not denying that it's happening, I just seriously doubt it's intentional. Send in a report (like everyone else should also be doing) and they'll figure it out. You don't need to threaten a lawsuit lol2 points

Honestly, I don't know. I haven't really studied the weapons in-game for any length or played around with them enough. ......in relation to real life, even hardcore milsim titles can miss the mark and RDO is far from being that kind of game so.... I wouldn't even want to get into a discussion regarding ballistics because 1) I'm not that smart 2) RDR2 simply isn't the kind of game where real life has much impact. Hell, in the game we're using one kind of ammo for all "repeaters", rifles, revolvers, etc. yet the damage varies between weapons within each group. Logically, if the ammo were the same in two different rifles, the "damage" should essentially be unchanged. .....not factoring in twist rate, barrel lengths, etc. blah, blah, blah which can affect accuracy, etc. To be honest, the original Winchester repeater was chambered for the same .44 rimfire cartridge the the Henry used (I think that was the only one it came in). The original Winchester (66) was the successor to the Henry rifle. Why the Litchfield (Henry) does more damage than the Lancaster (Winchester) all boils down to game / weapon balance. .....not reality. The Winchester '73 used the .44-40 centerfire (a popular cartridge shared in pistols as well like the Schofield) and later versions were offered in rifle cartridges. Modern variants are chambered in all sorts of calibers. Personally, I wouldn't mind one in .357/.38 as that's a round I already use for my single action Blackhawk. Folks like Creed who hunt or compete are probably more into ballistics than someone like me.1 point

No. One of the key elements necessary to prove fraud is intent. Unless there's a paper trail via inter-company communications (email, memos) that proves this was an intentional element implemented to induce the customer to purchase gold via microtransactions, this does not rise to the level of fraud. This thread is the exact reason why I've elected to hoard my gold that was awarded, and not purchase additional gold until the mode is out of Beta. The final product is going to be different--which is why online games have Terms of Service or License Agreements that specifically state that as a consumer, you don't actually own the game, you're just purchasing a license to access a service. It's an important distinction, one which allows for on-the-fly changes to come without warning and with very few protections built in for the customer. A lawsuit will also be immediately challenged by R*. For those of you who skipped the EULA for Red Dead (and Red Dead Online): MISCELLANEOUS If any provision of this Agreement is held to be unenforceable for any reason, such provision shall be reformed only to the extent necessary to make it enforceable and the remaining provisions of this Agreement shall not be affected. BINDING INDIVIDUAL ARBITRATION - PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. IT MAY SIGNIFICANTLY ALTER YOUR RIGHTS, INCLUDING YOUR RIGHT TO FILE A LAWSUIT IN COURT. This binding individual arbitration section will not apply to the extent prohibited by the laws of your country of residence. You and the Company agree that should any dispute, claim, or controversy arise between us regarding any Company products or services (hereafter a “Dispute”), whether based in contract, statute, regulation, ordinance, tort (including fraud, misrepresentation, fraudulent inducement, or negligence), or any other legal or equitable theory, except for those matters listed in the Exclusions From Arbitration paragraph below, and expressly including the validity, enforceability, or scope of this ‘BINDING INDIVIDUAL ARBITRATION’ section (with the exception of the enforceability of the Class Action Waiver clause below), shall be submitted to binding arbitration, as described below, rather than being resolved in court. The term “Dispute” is to be given the broadest possible meaning that will be enforced and includes, for example, all matters arising under this Agreement, the Privacy Policy, the Terms of Service, or any other agreement with the Company. You understand that there is no judge or jury in arbitration and that court review of an arbitration award is limited. Exclusions From Arbitration. You and the Company agree that any claim filed by You or the Company in small claims court on an individual basis are not subject to the arbitration terms contained in this Section. In addition, the Company or You shall have the right to seek an injunction against you in court in order to preserve the status quo while an arbitration proceeds. Class Action Waiver. THE ARBITRATION PROCEEDINGS DESCRIBED HEREIN WILL BE CONDUCTED ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS ONLY. Neither You nor the Company shall be entitled to join or consolidate disputes by or against other individuals or entities, or to arbitrate any dispute in a representative capacity, including, without limitation, as a representative member of a class or in a private attorney general capacity, in connection with any Dispute. Further, unless both You and the Company agree, the arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person’s claim. The arbitrator may award any individual relief or individual remedies that are permitted by applicable law, but may not award relief against the Company respecting any person other than You. Right to Opt Out of Binding Arbitration. The failure to provide timely notice shall bar all claims. If the Company has a dispute with You, the Company will provide notice to the address it has on file for you, if possible. You and the Company agree to negotiate the Dispute in good faith for no less than 30 days after notice of the Dispute is provided. If the Dispute is not resolved within 30 days after receipt of notice of the Dispute, the Company or You may pursue the claim in arbitration as provided in this section. Arbitration Rules and Procedures. Arbitration shall be subject to the U.S. Federal Arbitration Act and federal arbitration law, and shall be conducted by Judicial Arbitration Mediation Services, Inc. The JAMS Rules, including instructions for initiating an arbitration, are available on its website at http://www.jamsadr.com/rules-streamlined-arbitration. The Company will pay its arbitration costs as required by the JAMS Rules and, in the event that you are able to demonstrate that the costs of arbitration will be prohibitive as compared to the costs of litigation, the Company will pay as much of your arbitration filing and hearing fees as the arbitrator deems is necessary to prevent the arbitration from being cost-prohibitive as compared to the cost of litigation. Each side shall pay his, her, or its own attorneys’ fees and costs unless the claim(s) at issue permit the prevailing party to be paid its fees and/or litigation costs, in which case the arbitrator shall award fees or costs as required by the applicable law. Location of Arbitration. At Your option, if an in-person hearing is required under the JAMS Rules, the hearing will occur either in New York County, New York, or in the United States county in which You reside. Decision of the Arbitrator. Any decision or award by the arbitrator shall be final and binding on the parties. Unless otherwise agreed, any decision or award shall set forth the factual and legal basis for the award. The arbitrator shall be permitted to award only those remedies in law or equity which are requested by the parties and which the arbitrator determines are supported by credible relevant evidence. Any decision or award may be enforced as a final judgment by any court of competent jurisdiction. If either party unsuccessfully challenges the validity of an award, the unsuccessful party shall pay the opposing party’s costs and attorneys’ fees associated with the challenge.1 point

I personally don't mind being killed in all instances except when I'm standing around doing nothing. If I'm doing a mission, feel free to challenge me, it's fun. I don't mind a scuffle over kills and hunting spots. If I killed your friend or something, go for it. But if I haven't done anything to you or I'm just standing around, leave me be. I personally don't grief and only get violent IF PEOPLE CAN'T BE CIVIL ABOUT IT. After that, all hell breaks loose. I had someone follow me to the butcher, didn't try to kill me, stood behind me, then when I was done kill me. And I'm like, but why tho? Or as soon as I log in I'm shot and even when I respawn and RUN away, they are still shooting at me. I was also sitting up in a barn second story minding my business looking at the catalogue and here comes someone up the ladder to shoot me. Good thing I was listening and reacted quickly. Like, why the hell you gotta be a douche like that?1 point

You are correct. I use this glitch as add-on content. It uses this game as the most beautiful platform game ever. When my young nephews visit for Christmas, it will also give them access to the game that is G-rated. There is no foul language or gratuitous violence on this side of the map. Maybe another controller for PVP action. (Nah....they would start shooting each other the minute they landed on the map.) Auntie buttlint would also hang my ornaments from the christmas tree if I did that. The only problem I have with RDO is that I would have to pay Sony $25 to join their network. Perhaps later, when the bugs are worked out in beta. My Polish / Italian DNA does not allow me to spend money on something that I wont use. I am pretty sure that DLC and add-ons are on the way. Until then, my next goal is to reach Flatiron Lake. The only reward will be to take pictures of Thieves Landing, from the other side, to prove to myself that it is possible. Seem to me, that goal is in the spirit of the old west.1 point

Actually, the Lancaster in the game is a Winchester, the Litchfield a Henry, the Cattleman a Colt SAA, the Mauser a Mauser C96 broom handle and so on. .....but then again, guns like the Schofield are actually to the model they are described as (S&W Schofield). I suppose the renaming or partial naming of some were to get around licensing issues. I don't know how that all works to be honest. There were a couple sites that made real world comparison charts if you're interested. I'm responding on my phone but Ill post one up later.1 point

I think removing the ability to circumvent the level system is a good idea. Would you want a level 6 player, who got gold for Christmas, sniping the hell outta you with a Rolling Block again, and again and again... Na, me either. It makes levelling up a thing that seems worth doing. As it stood, there was no real point to it if you had more money than sense. Does it suck that I can't buy that leather duster I had my eye on? Sure, but it's gonna be that much sweeter when I get to the appropriate level, and am able to slip my arms into that magnificent looking coat.1 point

update, ive just been playing with some card set ups. slippery bastard - enemies cant lock on to you (you also cant lock onto them of single purpose - take less damage with melee weapon equipped slow and steady - when dead eye is active you take less damage and head shots cant kill with this set up - just for fun, if i see an enemy i can charge at them, pop deadeye and melee them to death and they cant kill me, they mostly miss because they cant lock on and when they do im tanking damage with the slow and steady ability card, impossible to kill like that for a few seconds while dead eye is active. its not a sustainable way to play but its fun as hell, i was melee wiping a 4 man posse who tried to grief me fishing last night they got bored and called me a hacker1 point

They changed which items will allow you to purchase with gold before the appropriate level when they turned on the gold bar system. Things like weapons, ammo, horses and pamphlets all got the gold option taken away, unless you are of appropriate rank. They did this to appease all of the folks complaining about a pay to win paradigm. So, essentially if it contributes to your combat effectiveness, it is no longer able to be bought with gold unless you have also achieved the appropriate rank.1 point

Maybe. I think it comes down to personal preference and play style. Overall, I think the Fox Trotter is the better horse. It has a faster top speed and more stamina to maintain it. I also think they are the most calm and easily controlled horses in the game (with good stats). So if you're playing the game solo or do a lot of traveling and hunting, etc. it may be the best horse for you. Certainly my favorite for general free roam style of play. However, and this is a big consideration, if your play style is more PvP based, more protracted and ongoing gun fights and hunting down opposing posses and such, then I would say the Turkoman is the better choice by a pretty significant margin. It has the same acceleration as the Fox Trotter, just not the top speed. Which, acceleration is probably more important in pitched gun battles than top speed anyway. And although you give up some longer ranging stamina you more than make up for it in much better health so that your horse has a better chance of surviving throughout the battle. Seriously, I don't think you can go wrong with either choice. It's just a matter of which you really value more. Health or Stamina. As for the Arabians, no. Absolutely not. Skittish little ponies that everyone just looks ridiculously huge riding on.1 point

Cattleman should be the fastest to unload, and slowest to reload. That was their design. They are still made today, you can get a brand new one for about $600 bucks. Not so the other two. Oh yeah the shoot big fat heavy boolits. <---A term none of have ever heard of. But then that is about the real ones, not the watered down game versions. I would argue this list to the devs all day long. The double action and Schofield are smaller calibers, yet the stats do not reflect this. https://gamewith.net/red-dead-redemption2/article/show/1154 The damage chart is a joke. The Colt should be 1/3 to 1/2 more damage due to the huge chunk of lead they spit out. BTW the range is off too, the Cattleman will not have the range of the smaller faster bullets for the other two. Rate of fire is another joke. The Colt SAA is still the fastest gun in the west 100 years later. The single action is twice as fast as any double action. If you look at cowboy shooting competitions or fast draw, you will never see a double action, they are just too slow have to draw the hammer back and rotate the cylinder all at one. The Cattleman is fan fired for incredible speed. (fan fired is when you hold the trigger down, with your right index finger, and use the bottom of you left have to pull the hammer back as fast as you can. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMz1EMG2dsg The only part of this video not true is the empty hole over the hammer. They have to say this do to lawyering up all firearms after 1980. If you put 6 cartridges in and set the hammer all the way down in the rest position and bump it, it will go off, Ive done it lots of times to show folks. The first click is the safety click, it draws the hammer off of the primer. Ive hit mine with 2x4 on the hammer, and its never gone off. click 3 is half c ock, so you can rotate the cylinder freely, and then full c ock, tap the trigger, drop the hammer. Now you know where the terms "dont go off half cocked" and "Put the hammer down" came from. You learned something today Still going with a pair of Cattlemen. Despite how wrong Rockstar got it.1 point

Do you really think they would do something like that intentionally and not expect lawsuits? Of course not. If it were intentional, legal recourse would be swift, and they're smart enough to know that. As was suggested before, try contacting customer support and see if they can help you before making angry decisions, like these jerky-jerkfaces are just trying to scam you out of your cashola.1 point

Translation: I blew through the game so fast that I'm now bored and it's ruined for me, so I want to deprive others of any enjoyment so they're as dull and lifeless on the inside as I am. Translation: Anything that isn't explicitly banned is permitted. This is the same logic that allows sociopaths like myself to justify morally reprehensible actions with no fault or presumption of guilt. Unless said person IS a member of the development team, he or she has no idea what their intent is, and are projecting to justify their own actions. For almost 100 years, the United States allowed slavery because there was no law against it. I suppose that made it okay, too (sarcasm). Translation: I'm an emotionless monster incapable of genuine feelings, so I have to feed off the extremes of others to have any sort of satisfaction. There are a LOT of people like this in Corporate America who have nothing better to do than provoke people into a reaction. Translation: I'm so incredibly myopic and short sighted that I didn't even consider the fact that if I get people to quit, there's fewer people to abuse, limiting my opportunity to do so. I'm the sort of person who wins a year's supply of pizzas and eats them all in a week because I have no self control or awareness. Translation: Mommy and Daddy gave me everything I ever wanted in life. Ethan Crouch is my role model. Translation: I'm a walking contradiction: I have to ruin the game for others so that it isn't ruined for me. Your own enjoyment of the game means nothing as long as I'm happy. Rules for thee and not for me! Translation: My parents and teachers gave me participation ribbons and trophies for everything in life, so I have never learned the value of hard work or self-improvement. As a result, I claim to be emotionally damaged because I can't face the truth that my pain is caused by my own laziness and awareness of my own lack of self-worth as a human being. The despondency is why I lash out at others, because I want to, (as the always eloquent Mike Tyson once said) " stomp on their testicles so you could feel my pain." Pretty accurate analysis of the PvP DZ. I'd argue that playing PvE Survival gave you that same experience without the grief of the regular DZ. Sure, mobs didn't respawn, so it wasn't quite as farmable, but essentially, it's similar enough. It also provided (for me at least) the most fun version of the game. They also made a critical change to the way the DZ functions to give PvE players an opportunity to avoid "kill squads". Anyone that goes rogue is visible on both the minimap and large scale overlay, so it's simple enough to avoid them. And if a player in your vicinity decides to go Rogue, the days of them simply bushwacking you from behind and unloading an entire mag into your back are gone. They have to actively select it from their menu and there's a cooldown. You get a notification that someone near you is going Rogue, and have time to prepare. Griefers can't bait you into going Rogue by diving into your line of fire anymore to make you the aggressor. Sure, coordinated groups can camp spawns, but anyone going into the DZ has the ability to fast travel to any number of other spawn points away from those clowns and farm different landmarks. It's easy enough to avoid them with the smallest amount of planning and situational awareness--It's the DZ, and mobs will spawn right on top of you if you dither. I'm in a different place on The Division, having only come into it about a year after it was released. My perspective is VERY different from people who were hyped up by the E3 presentations and promises that never materialized on consoles--I came aboard right as the critical patches and content updates were being deployed that made it a MUCH different game (exotics, sets, incursions, Survival, the Underground, etc...). If I was a launch player, I probably wouldn't have been as forgiving of the initial experience. Looking more forward to the PvE online portions of TD2 more than I am RDO in it's current state, though, I can tell you that much.1 point

It all depends on what you consider to be the wisest way to level. Personally I am not highly skilled PVP wise so I haven't done a lot of the series and that will nett you the most XP if you are "decent" at it. If you get a good posse going with several frequent members that do not fool around all the time, but go from stranger mission to stranger mission and in between some hideouts you encounter, that wil be a nice way to level up. Just try to play efficiently xp wise as stated before. A kill is not a kill : - headshots give extra 5 xp - from horse extra 5 xp - special ammo extra 5 xp running up on enemies and tackling them then execute them gives another 10 xp. It can mount up to 25xp per kill and even more. Of course there are many other xp boosters around. Also remember to kill animals when travelling from point to point just to get another xp boost in the dead time... Personally I think hunting is the best way to a balanced level up. Specifically as the ability cards are very important assets and these cannot be acquired through gold, only ingame dollars and they cost 50, 350 and 500 USD per upgrade at I think over 20 cards. I have spent all my earned USD into the ability cards and used a fair amount of gold into getting a fast horse and the entire What I have done mainly basically from start of the beta is hunt at the swamp area above Saint Denis. Best weapons are the Varmint and a rifle of your choice (I got the rolling block with scope). When you start RDO up spawn in New Austin, go to a fast travel post and pay to travel to Saint Denis, ensuring that the area is as good as empty regarding online players. Depending on your personal needs you can adapt your hunting. I basically do a 24hour in game cycle of hunting where during the morning to noon session I shoot and skin birds netting 10 xp per kill (also the shooting 1k birds and 1k animals challenges are done). Alongside every alligator gets one in the head giving you 15 xp. pristine small ones skin and put on horse 10 usd) and lasso a 2nd and drag to butcher for another 10. During night shoot every toad and frog and look for boars, the occosianal buck and muskut rats. Perfect rat carcasses nett you 4usd and the pelt almost 2 bucks. In most runs I encounter 5 to 6 of those and regarding birds the spoonbill / pelican / crane and heron feathers stack up to 10 at about 1.5 usd each. in this cycle you can gather a few herbs as well and prep big game meat with thyme/oregano and mint in order to have golden cores and be ready for other gameplay later on. You can also sell most herbs to the doctor (herbpicking and sell herbs challenges as well in between). Stock up ammo/ clean guns get supplies and repeat. If bored you can do the earlier mentioned ladder in Saint Denis to gather xp (no money there though). The above is not the fastest way to level, but In a 24hour cycle in game (1hour or less of playtime) you can get half a level done and more importantly get around 100 to 150 USD. I have put all that into the ability cards and have all of them maxxed out in xp lvl 1 and 2 respectively 10k and 15k xp per card and around 7 of them levelled to the max. Now at a point that the playing field in terms of abilities in pvp either balance me out with better players and give me a small edge on lower levelled players. Also getting griefed is not happening that much anymore. TLDR : Hunting in Saint Denis (combine with ladder if USD not an issue), shoot everything and collect, and invest in abiltiy cards and level and upgrade asap to max xp collecting. At a certain point if comfortable go pvp.1 point

I think Chief Lung is hallucinating or straight out trolling. Because you cannot have a bounty placed on you. Yes you can be marked for player assassination in one of several stranger missions. Please forgive an old guy (69) for doing what old guys are known for....ranting nonsense. I played RDR1 on day one, and enjoyed every minute of it. I waited years to see a RDR2 release. I havent been disappointed with it. Although I am far from considering myself a hardcore gamer, I am a person that has been known to pay 200 bucks for a new video card and memory upgrades for any game that caught my fancy. I also thought that Doom was a technical marvel that would never be surpassed. Overclocking and water coolers. Tetris will never die! I have always looked at video games as being movies that we get to play the lead character. Those are the type of games that I have enjoyed the most. Shooting monsters or robots in outer space just never got the bone stiff. And like movies, everyone has their likes and dislikes. There is no accounting for taste. If anybody wants to debate whether Rio Bravo is a better western than Shane, go for it. The Wild Bunch was my favorite. I consider this a western themed video game. A genre all to itself. Rockstar put a lot of effort into this game and I think it shows. The crunch time stuff and all of the problems in production paid off in the finished product. The devils in the details are amazing. They took RDR1 and polished the sh!t out of it. They took the newer tech and made it work. To me, they wrote a compelling story. When Travis shot old yeller, it kicked me in the nuts. When .............................I got the same feeling. There are times in this game where I wished they would just get to the friggin conclusion and end it. I consider that my own impatience and not a fault of the game. At my age, slow pace isnt considered a problem....its a way of life.1 point

The main protagonist, Arthur Morgan starts out as an asshole. That can take some getting used to after the lovable rogue that John Marston was in the first RDR. Also the main plot was John Marston hunting down his old gang to find redemption. In RDR2 the gang is out robbing and killing for money. Because Dutch "HAS A PLAN!" The sand pit is bigger with more content. Better side stories and voice acting than the first game. This game is slow burning as the story unfolds. I loved the first game too. Yeah move on pilgrim.
