  1. RED DEAD ONLINE BETA UPDATENEW FEATURES AND MORE COMING FEBRUARY 26 The next set of updates and new features is set to be added to the Red Dead Online Beta on February 26th as we implement many new improvements and enhancements to the game’s open world, including a new Law and Bounty system, weapons balancing, changes to player blips on the mini-map and more. Read on for details about these changes and stay tuned next week to learn more about some of the other new content coming in this update. Player Visibility As part of our response to community feedback on how to minimize certain types of destructive player behavior, we’ve made some changes to the way player blips will appear on the map. Firstly, we’re reducing the visibility of blips over long distances – your map position won’t display to other players unless you are nearby (within 150 meters) and if you are slightly further away you will only appear when firing your weapon. Players in other towns or regions, for example, won’t be visible. This prevents players from being repeatedly targeted across the map at long distances. We’re also introducing a new system that highlights overly aggressive players. If your style of play becomes more hostile, your map position (and the position of your Posse members) will become more visible to other players with a progressively darkening dot that incrementally shifts from blue to dark red. Your visibility increases through bad deeds such as attacking and killing other players or their horses outside of a structured mode, Free Roam Mission, event or competition, and the shorter the time between bad acts, the more your visibility increases. Shift back to a more righteous path and your visibility will fade over time. We’re also introducing Posse-wide Parleys and improving Feuds. You’ll soon be able to initiate Parley that applies to your attacker’s entire Posse after just a single kill. Alternatively, if you’d rather challenge your opponent, you can initiate a Feud, Posse Feud or Leader Feud after one kill, quickly turning a dispute into a timed mini-deathmatch for rival players to fight out amongst themselves in Free Roam, earning points for each kill on the opposing player. Bounty Hunters & Law Balancing At the same time, players who have racked up high bounties will have a chance to be beset by NPC Bounty Hunters who will attempt to kill them and collect their reward. Criminal behavior will have bounty values and honor consequences that scale based on the severity of the crime. For example, killing another player can incur a higher bounty, while assaulting townsfolk or animal cruelty could give you a lesser bounty if the crime is reported, while lower level crimes like looting and ransacking will only decrease your honor. If your bounty exceeds a certain threshold and Bounty Hunters take notice, you will be wanted dead and alerted to their pursuit. The higher your bounty, the greater your value and the more difficult the pursuit becomes for you and your Posse. Daily Challenges We will also be adding a variety of Daily Challenges to take on across the Red Dead Online Beta. Complete individual objectives that cover every aspect of life on the frontier to earn Gold Nuggets and XP. Challenges will range from foraging for herbs, selling items at a Fence, hunting and skinning animals, clearing hideouts, winning Feuds and so much more. These Daily Challenges will continue to expand and evolve over time bringing specialty challenges and rewards, streak bonuses and more. Other Fixes and More Your feedback has been invaluable so please keep it coming. In addition to these updates we are planning to address several additional changes based on community feedback received thus far - select weapons will be re-balanced including the Varmint Rifle, which will have its accuracy brought more in line with other longarm weapons; voice chat will be reduced to work at closer proximity, and while fixes to horse cargo are numerous and ongoing we plan to introduce some improvements to making pelts and carcasses more persistent after death or respawning. We will have more details on additional content in the February 26th update next week. We are excited about the future of Red Dead Online and look forward to sharing lots more in the weeks and months ahead. Meanwhile, there are chances to earn more XP to rank up ahead of February 26th. Playing in a Posse will bring benefits like earning increased XP in Free Roam Missions and Free Roam Events. Posse up this week to earn twice as much increased XP on these activities, and next week earn 20% more XP across all activities in the Red Dead Online Beta. https://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/60840/Red-Dead-Online-Beta-Update?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=rdobeta-update-02122019&utm_content=newswire

  2. All joining options appear to be back

  3. We'll have to see how it works when the update is released or maybe it will be revealed in the details next week. I'm guessing it will be an option left to the victim and not the aggressor. Makes no sense otherwise IMO. If not, I'll certainly be submitting feedback to have that option changed as I'm sure many others concerned about griefing will as well. Of course, that won't stop trolls from simply leaving the session but if they do, then I consider that mission accomplished. ....although it would be nice if the option to rejoin a new session during a feud is suspended so they only have the choice to face retaliation or close the game. I can't see too many griefers wanting to restart the game every time vs. just switching sessions.

  4. Maybe its just me but. That sounds like controlled roam and not free roam. IMO this game needs less band aids and more lobby options.

  5. If you are looking for a certain animal or item in RDR2, drop your request here and I will (to the best of my ability) post the map location in this thread. Just for the members of this great forum! To start: Known locations of bear spawns below:

  6. Hey there, Im playing on ps4 at european time-zone. After I entered several random posses, Im looking for one or some permanent groups who would welcome my native girl character. I would prefer a leader who doesnt just run away and do the missions allone, because hes on level 80 000 already and Im much too slow for him- I would prefer teamwork and caring for each other. I also prefer a group without racist and/or sexist tendencies. Fighting other players might happen sometimes, but please not always, and not completely senseless. What you would get in return is a loyal, honorable member that wont leave you alone in battle. I also like to hunt and explore. Greets, Chapawee...

  7. SPEAKING of which, why doesn't Arthur or John EVER "cop a squat" anywhere?? It could be a cut-scene where they disappear behind a bush or into an outhouse, but not having necessary "evacuation" moments is rather dumb.

  8. Well, I did say "for the most part".

  9. From the strategy guide... Weight has a parameter from 0 (skinny) to 20 (overweight). Arthur/John is considered ‘peak’ at 10. You naturally lose one point of weight every 24 in-game minutes unless you eat stuff, each type of food having its own calorific value that counteracts the weight loss. Being over weight will drain your cores at an accelerated rate (up to 25%) and your stamina meter faster (0.75% faster per increment), but will provide you with more damage resistance. Being under weight will do the same, but your damage resistance will suffer, but you correspondingly gain better stamina (same as above, but swap over damage resistance and stamina).

  10. That's very true. Cowards like me kill you once and then run away.

  11. Except for me. I'm a terrible person.

  12. Probably. I've never been one to posse up before, but now....

  13. Agree'd that could add up much faster. Hope it is for hunting, fishing, herbs and jewelry gathering also. That could really add up nicely.

  14. I thought that "Posse Up" option had always been there and that they simply added the 2X XP icon? I hope the ability to choose all of the various starting locations is sorted by this evening. This is obviously a new development and I agree with @jnaron_ngc that this may simply be an update and/or testing occurring on their end.

  15. never bothered with the weight, i just ate when i need a boost to my cores, like before a mission, or killing bounty hunters, or hunting, or when i was in an area that reduced them faster, like way up north in the snow.

  16. I would like to know game distances myself. I just got the gold buckle last night for traveling 1889 miles. I've played online since the week it came out and I travel in game a lot. I'm too cheap to fast travel most of the time. I would have thought I would have got that award a lot sooner. I would like to know the distances between towns, how long I'd have to ride the train to get that award etc.

  17. Griefers don't just kill you once...they attempt to do it again and again and again. Their ultimate goal is to frustrate you to the point that you leave.

  19. I, like tons of other people have lost literally thousands of dollars in pelts because of disconnects. I should be basically rich in terms of this game right now! It sucks going to the butcher every 10 minutes because you're afraid of getting disconnected. That's my biggest annoyance right now... seems like they focused on these stupid side games rather than working on the issues we are all having with disconnects. I did have about a two and a half to three hour uninterrupted session yesterday. That was a real treat... And it's sad to say that LOL ( not actually laughing though)

  20. That sucks. Last night was the first session I've had in weeks that wasn't littered with disconnects. I'm not ready to deem it "fixed"--the sample size is too small, and other users are still having issues. I also find it laughable that they want feedback when a lot of players can't even stay connected long enough to form a fair opinion.

  21. Oh, I disagree. You aren't likely to see many folks in the northern parts of the map, stretching from north of Strawberry to West of Annesburg. That entire wilderness is open 99% of the time, at least in sessions I've been in.

  22. It's not just you. I had a bit of a transformative experience playing online last night, and while it doesn't necessitate its own thread, it's with brining up, especially in this context. I jumped on around 2300 and received my mandatory <30 sec disconnect. After that, NO issues whatsoever. I entered mission matchmaking in free roam and was paired up with a pre-formed duo with mics. Great laid back group that communicated well, so I literally just went along for the ride and had a blast with them for a couple missions. We posse'd up and tooled around free roam for a bit, and I noticed a lot of lone riders and duos checking the three of us out, but nobody attacked. They fought each other, but stayed away from us. "What's the point," you ask? The game is built for grouping up. The content in free roam and missions is more fun, there's safety in numbers, and a group of players that fit your play style (I'm laid back in RDO) make the game exponentially more satisfying. I can't recommend grouping up enough. Ive been in plenty of garbage groups, bit it only takes one to completely shift your opinion of the beta. My thinking about a lot of things for the beta has shifted after that experience.

  23. Hello moosh89 , check the western avengers thread here in posse recruiting. If we are right for you post in that thread and 1 of us will contact you. You seem extremely laid back and we do love that. On very rare occasions we become hell raisers and seek out grieves just to show them they don't run the West ! Lol

  24. choosing isolated areas to hunt will not be possible anymore...😒

  25. Those player blips would have been useful last night. Cuz I had a posse of 180+ come from Annesburg to strawberry where myself and a few friends were, just to grief us (we range from rank 45 to 120). I'm assuming it's just because we were the only high ranks in the session. Seems to be happening a lot lately. Which is a good and bad thing.

  26. Thanks but already got a discussion going on about it. It's stickied at the top of the forum. If it's all the same to you, I'll close this thread as to not break off the discussion between two threads which are essentially ust announcing the update. Please feel free to msg me if you have any questions / concerns. I appreciate it. Just trying to keep things tidy.

  27. you have to do that once for 100%, and there a few camp upgrades that require the carcass, not just the hide. So many people forget this is a prequel to RDR. I agree they could have done a lot more with that area, but i did like some of the background that was revealed about John prior to RDR. Agreed, total waste of time chapter 5 was. It's the wild west, there really wasn't that much for options back then, not like now when there's a designer on every street corner and every celeb almost has their own line. Back then you had a couple main brands, most of them used the same pattern for shirts, but then varied with the piping and other decoration. You had pretty much one brand of jeans, or locally made cotton or canvas trousers (cotton in cold months, canvas in the warm). Levi's were the main brand and started mass producing jeans around 1870. Years later Wrangler and Lee came into the picture. Actually Wrangler didn't start until just before WW2, they were first called Hudson Overalls, which started in the early 1900s, then changed to Blue Bell in the 1920s, then Blue Bell bought out Casey Jones and started using their brand Wrangler. So if you go by that, you had Levi's from 1870s until Hudson Overalls just after the turn of the century. Lee jeans started around 1890 but didn't start making jeans until the 1920's, they made work overalls mostly sold to miners and factory workers until they got into the jeans business.

  28. I’ve put in almost 500 hours into this game so far, and I’ve not used the fast travel feature once. I took a train journey once, and that’s it. I just enjoy the exploration so much, I tend to wander all over the map and let myself get side tracked by doing the challenge tasks, legendary animals/fish and lots of other stuff.

  29. Yeah, hopefully the details they will release next week will outline exactly what fixes they are looking to implement. While I don;t have connections issues (they are rare for me), I do hope they get addressed. ....but a big one for me are the side missions not engaging consistently.
