Started online. Whistled my horse... Bang I'm headshoted and dead. Don't think I was on 30 seconds. Thought ere we go. So started again and went and done a stranger mission. I had to kill a wolf and take its body as proof of kill. I eventually found it. It killed me a couple of times. My shooting was off probably because I been playing gow4 all weekend and my brain was still wired to that. A out half way through and person came up and killed the wolf. I was just stood there thinking what now, when they waved and rode off. It was like a cartoon super hero moment. They turned up done the kill and was gone. I didn't even get there gt to say thank you. Took it back got the xp and money. Then off I went to find another. Went to a little shack to hamish next to a pond. There was loads of fish in there so I decided to chill and do some fishing on the end of the di*k thing. After about 5 minutes I heard footsteps but didn't think nothing of it until I saw another fishing line go out in the water. I looked round and there's some random stood finishing next to me. After a few more minutes I get a message. We spent the next 15 minutes fishing and sending messages back and forth about the football (soccer) team we both follow. Once I got my 10 perch I went to see hamish and do the mission. It was rescue a hostage. So off I trotted. Got the hostage. But the random followed me and helped kill the bandits on the way back to return the hostage. I'm really surprised after all the problems I get with griefers that I found 2 nice players in one game. Even made a new friend aswel lol. Just thought it made a change after the usual being killed by random. Sorry for such a long probably boring post but wanted to share.2 points

Virgil Caine. It’s from a song by The Band called “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down”. It kind of peeved me off that we can’t use the names we gave our avatars in game, what was the point of giving us the option if we can’t use it?? Nothing kills the illusion like getting a random posse invite from “GDaaawgKrOnIC420” *sigh2 points

Yep, I am in my third play through, and loving it more than ever. The first time I played the game I really didnt understand how open world games really worked and what game developers were capable of and what they are actually doing with these type games. The second time I played through it was because I felt like I left so much out the first time through. But what happened was I was just running around collecting stuff around the story missions and in the end it was fun, but not as good as it could be. The third time through though, I decided to mix it all together, so I play a story mission or two, then a stranger mission or two, then I go free roaming to try and get he satchel upgrades. Each time I do this I work on one thing or the other, like I have all the satchel upgrades by the first mission in chapter 3 and I would have had it in chapter 2 but I didnt realize I could get a panther early on, I was thinking I had to get hunter challenge 10 done so I could hunt the legendary Panther but as you know it is not necessary, so I stopped working on the challenge, ( challenge 6, skin 5 cougars after killing them with a bow, I have 2 left) this was taking me some time as they are tough to spawn regularly. Anyway I am having so much more fun, I have almost all of chapter 3 to do yet and I have done 9 companion items and delivered them, and I have the pipe and compass for when they eventually ask, I have the satchel upgraded to the max one, I have 4 legendary animals and 2 fish, 2 gunslingers, etc.. Doing it this way what is happening is I get to begin the chapter story, then do a few stranger missions, then go hunting and exploring. I went and got the white Arabian, and kept my horse out too and went on a legendary animal hunt, where I can carry two full size loads plus countless skins. I was able to carry a Black Bear, am Elk and a Legendary fish by carrying it myself lol anyway it is very satisfying working through the game in this way. When I go back to Rhodes in a little bit and go meet Dutch in town to kick off the story missions, I will feel like I already got the stuff I need like the horse, satchel, dead eye upgrades, etc.,. and it is just more fun. I dont even mind the Epilogue that much, I know it is slow and a little boring, but if you are like me, and did all the camp chores everytime they were ready to be done, you are used to it, the Epilogue was fun, but getting through it well sets up the rest of the game, all the stuff you can do in the southern part of the map and all that, so I really dont mind it at all. I wish there were more to do in that part of the map, a few chapters worth of stuff would be great, since we have the map and everything is in place, but I digress. I also grabbed a ton of items in the swamp when I was there so I am way ahead of the game when we get to chapter 4 and spend time in St Denis. anyway seriously, the third time playing the game is awesome!! It took me two other times to "Get it". Now my OCD is doing the rest. It feels very complete and fun this way. RDR2 ruined all my other games so may as well play it til I am sick of it If someone was going to begin now and asked me, I would suggest they do a similar thing, with a short list of items to get first, but the satchel upgrades are probably the most significant. My short list of things I wish were in the game, The ability to hang people The ability to climb trees The ability to use the lasso for other things like lowering yourself over a edge or pulling yourself up a cliff, etc.. Blacksmiths, we never have to deal with a horse shoe or anything and every town should have a livery and blacksmith, plus you coudl add road maintenance by having to do shoe repairs etc.. Using the telegraph, sending and receiving messages at times, would be helpful. That is my short list, hard to say I dont like anything in the game, I do, I love it.1 point

Any acceptable protocol when it's ok to Shoot First? Slow and Steady helps for some extra time to make a decision, but the idiots running around lassoing people will negate SAS. Here are my few situations where I shoot first now. 1. The double back: Someone passes me and turns to follow. I shoot first! 2. Someone is coming from behind and follows after I make a move off road. I shoot first! 3. Someone comes directly at me when I'm not on a road. This can be a bit tricky and normally use SAS and give this a slight pause to see if they go pass. If they slow up or circle, I Shoot First! Any suggestions?1 point

On my 3rd playthrough, and absolutely loving it. Long story so I wont bore you with it. What I have noticed on this play through while I am more focused and less overwhelmed are all the litle things I missed previously. Uncle showing his ass around the campfire and mooning, I think Marston, I forget, comes to mind, or one of my favorites, who knew Sean and Karen hooked up? it was really funny, they got together in Marstons tent, and after a little dialogue had a very short interlude, that left Karen unsatisfied, and Sean talking about his, "Sean Jr" lol It is these moments, I moved too quickly in previous attempts to play the game to really take notice. Fishing with the guys, taking pics of the group interacting while Arthur watches from a distance can be great fun. I went out of my way to talk to everyone at camp mutliple times a day when I am there and at night, and listen very carefully to everyone that will talk to you. It is the little things that really make the game, the small details, the Agnes Dowds of RDR2, little hidden stories with clues everywhere if you pay attention, but the camp/group interactions are my favorite.1 point

I just restarted my character because I didn’t like how he looked and I figured it was a fresh start to find a decent posse. I play on ps4 and I don’t have any friends that play this game with me. I play almost every day and I’m not a griefer. Finding people to hunt, fish, do missions, pvp and make money would be great. If there’s a permanent posse looking for someone I would be more than happy to join.1 point

This past week it was double the XP bonus of what you would normally get by doing missions with a posse. It wasn't actually "double XP" of the whole payout of XP if that makes sense. Next week is 20% more XP IIRC for all activities and the week after that the new update comes. This was the first time for this sort of XP bonus as I recall but I doubt it will be the last.1 point

I love to hear these kinds of stories, because not every blip on the map is a griefer. Most of us avoid them because you just really never know, and you really can't really trust anybody. Hopefully more people will share stories like this. I have on occasion run in to very friendly players who will give you a hand, or simply wave to show they are friendly.1 point

I thought I'd give it a try tonight, so hit posse up as I started. As soon as I sqawned in there was 3 members all walking about next to a lake or river by anneburg or something. Anyway. While waiting I started fishing and after about 5 seconds one member quit. Next thing everyone is gunned down by the person that quit seconds earlier. After that I just quit the posse. Last time I'll bother. Especially after I've read on here that it is common aswel.1 point

I know some will never trust R*, question their motives, etc., but they have mentioned several times that they are looking for community feedback to help them develop RDO and made just as many comments to remind folks that this beta is a true work in progress. Folks can complain, discuss their hopes, criticize the direction of the game, etc. but it means nothing unless they make their voices heard. It's great to have those conversations here and the site encourages people to do so but R* is providing their fans with (what I believe) is a rare opportunity to help make a difference by submitting their feedback while the game is still being developed. They even established a dedicated site for this feedback. Obviously, not everyone will get to see their own suggestions come to fruition in the game but IMO, I still think it's worth taking a few minutes out of your day and submitting them. Regardless of how some folks feel about it, the coming anti-griefing measures are a perfect example of how this input has had a direct affect on changes in the gameplay mechanics. ......and it shouldn't stop there as people will (and should) continue to provide their input on how they feel such changes improve or hamper the game. Doesn't matter how people feel about topics on gameplay in RDO, everyone has the opportunity to voice their opinion on that website and I believe they should take advantage of that.1 point

A little stumble or a clean short beard game is tight but the full-blown bird nest... I will never understand the appeal for the men who sport that or the women who like it.1 point

I've to be honest. I have yet to use my setup in a pvp situation(mainly because I hate to waste dead eye), only against NPCs while clearing out enemy hideouts. It works wonders for that. Usually when I get headshot, I'm at my most vulnerable, either, skinning an animal, picking herbs or looking at my map. Doesn't bother me too much unless I've got some really valuable cargo on my horse from hunting. Either way as soon as I spawn back in, I'll make a bee line right back to them to make sure they get 5he message that I'm the wrong guy to mess with.1 point

My preferred combo when going into battle is slow & steady, unblinking eye, cold blooded and eye for an eye. Slow & steady will prevent headshots while in dead eye and reduce damage taken, unblinking eye extends dead eye and eagle eye time, cold blooded will refill some of your health bar for 5 seconds after you kill an enemy and eye for an eye restores some back to your dead eye bar for a successful headshot. Now before you go into battle, pop a minty big game meat, a thyme big game meat and some tonics to reinforce your dead eye and health bars and you can pretty much stand out in the open absorbing bullets like a sponge and mowing down enemies with headshots and keep it going for quite awhile.1 point

Guess you missed this part: .....again, let's see how exactly the mechanics work when the update hits.1 point

i hate some of these. parlay after one kill? weak. not losing your horse stuff? weak. how am i going to anti grief if someone kills me, i kill them and then they parlay with me? what? just follow them around forever watching them kill a bunch of other people while i sit on my horse till i finally get the chance to kill them one time again?? one of the most thrilling parts of hunting is coming into town knowing you could lose a bunch of your work so you gotta roll in smart or strong. OMG DONT SNOWFLAKE THE GAME!!1 point

Happy to create ad-hoc posse or three if you fancy a bit of mission-grinding and defending against idiot griefers. Also member of a permanent posse, but we don't all get online at the same time. My PSN is the same as my forum name, if you don't get a better offer and want to add me.1 point

I have tier 3, Slow and Steady, Peak Condition, Strange Medicine, Never Without One. I use a bolt action rifle with explosive express rounds. Max damage / one shot kill to body. I call this load out : The Equaliser.1 point

There are 2 situations about this: Your Posse You can have 10 members in your posse. Once you reach that limit you have to remove members from your posse in order to invite others. This is actually confusion as there is warning or error message for this situation. To make the situation worse, your invites will simply not go through. No error message on both sides. Not you and not the player you want to invite. The invite just vanishes. You need to go to Posse -> Members -> Tab 2 or 3 times -> Select a member -> Kick Posses you're in You can only be in 3 (i think it's 3) posses at one time. Once you've reached that limit you're unable to be invited. You need to remove posses from your list. In order to do so, you need to go the menu that lists all posses in your session and select those showing 0/7. Those are the ones you're a member in. There is actually an error message for this situation. The person trying to invite you, will see a lock symbol with a message that you're not able to join him because you're in to many posses.1 point
