  1. I can honestly say that i have watched well over 100 western style movies, read many more books than that and have even researched the way of life in the Wild West for a school paper, yet, I cannot remember any one person who went hunting and had to bring a cart with them to load all their kills. As for the open world, the only map I did not have all open, well before I finished the game (but not the Epilogue) was New Austin

  2. Hi Dewy, Online really doesn't have much to do with the campaign. .....at least not yet. RDO is really about your story as an online character. ....and even then it's really just about the activities within the game. At the moment, even that is limited but you can't really think of RDO as a storytelling adventure like the campaign was. It has some story missions, side missions with some characters you might remember from the main game, PvP events, hunting, fishing, an in-game economy, etc. This is also gameworld shared with a group of up to around 40 others. .....others who can kill you if they want to or simply interact. I'll be quite frank with you though Dewy..... Given your sharp criticism for the campaign, game mechanics, lack of certain features, etc., I would be remiss if I recommended that you pay for a PS+ account just to play RDO. If you have other online games that you are interested in as well then maybe, but not just for RDO. I would say you would be likely setting yourself up for a huge disappointment. Personally, I like RDO but then again, I really liked the campaign too. I've had a PS+ account since my PS3 days so that never really factors into my decisions. I try an online game and if I don't like it, I don't play it. In your case, your betting $60 just to try an experience you're not even sure you'll enjoy. If I were you I would do some more research, view a lot of in-game footage and maybe wait for a free weekend to try it out. Sometimes there are promotions that will wave the membership for a weekend to try and get folks without one to try out their online games. That's just my take on it.

  3. dude. relax. emerse yourself in the world. dont think of it as a "game", think about it as an experience, as a virtual life as a cowboy and you'll just figure it all out as you go along and it should be way less stressful. also because their is not a ton of things going on, think of it as the very early days of the west when it was just settled... a tiny bit desolate, but it will grow into a thriving world someday.

  4. @lumper If you're on PS4 I and my posse would be happy to help you figure things out. If not, I'll try to help from here best I can. I know it can seem overwhelming as the game kinda throws you to the wolves very quickly. Personally what I did was run down deer with a lasso/knife. Only way to get perfect kills until you can get that Springfield (or in my case, bolt action). But once you have the rifle you're set for pve as far as hunting and even pvp (does a lot of damage to players fully upgraded). Pick herbs, sell them. Kill all owls, Hawks, condors, vultures, eagles as they still give more than 1 feather unlike the exotic birds in the swamps of St Denis. Kill gators, sell the big game meat you don't use. Also if you want to remake you're character, go to start menu then player and I believe it gives you the option of deleting your character. You'll still keep your cash and gold but nothing else. I can't cover all the points of your post right now as I'm at work. But I'll get back to you in a couple hours. -edit- No you can't sleep, only rest. You can't pass the day. No there's not a trapper, yet... maybe. Yes it sucks. Yes, a good portion of players will kill you, not all are "griefers" as sometimes the daily challenges want you to kill other players with a certain weapon in a certain way. Stay far away from dark red dots/players on the map. No they aren't all red because of killing others, they could have been defending themselves. But still to be cautious, just make sure you are aware of their general vicinity. Purple dots too, but you can't see them as easily. Also for $250 you can get a red Arabian horse. It's not as good as the normal one, but better than the Tennessee walkers, Kentucky saddlers and Morgans. Unless you have the ultimate edition of the game then you get a free Thoroughbred and saddle, along with free volcanic pistol and varmint rifle, think a pump action shotgun too.

  5. This has undoubtedly been touched on at nauseam. Is there any word on online actually being completed. I love the game. The campaign mode is unmatched for me with the exception of the last God of War entry. I find online unplayable. You either fight other people in a rotating door of game modes or The stranger missions......eck. I figured being that this is the forum you guys/gals would have the info. Thanks, The spirit of John Wayne

  7. No idea. AFAIK, it's completely random but who knows.

  8. It does require some software to perform the tests. Interpreting the results can be tricky unless you understand in depth networking and tcpip packets.

  9. That was your assumption, it may have been the OPs assumption as well. Hopefully what I've posted above will have cleared that up.

  10. Well my fellow gunslinger , going by the info you have provided I would say no ! It is pve and PvP rolled into one. There are a lot of run ins with other players ,most of the time everyone is just doing there thang. You will need to go in with a posse should you choose to enter. Carry on good sir !

  11. Sarcasm mode engaged (/) You're reading it wrong! "challenging" other players obviously means waiting until they are skinning an animal, or doing some fishing, and then shooting them in the back with a shotgun. Another good way of "challenging" other players is to crouch on the roof of the stables in Valentine, and snipe them when they visit the butcher. This is the Wild West, this is what it should be like! Sarcasm mode disengaged (/)

  12. So you're regularly running off and leaving your horse. That sounds like your doing rather than any fault of the game. Why don't Pearson's customization options count as customizing the camp? Sounds to me like you're upset that you have to actually work for them instead of being spoon fed them. Okay, you weren't referring to horse, but I pose the same question: what real need is there in putting animals on a cart? Exactly how far into the epilogue are you?

  13. The problem is here that Rockstar don't have an infinite amount of code-monkeys and an infinite amount of time to allow them to create a game that allows the player to do everything that you want from it. They also don't have an infinite amount of money to throw at the said room full of infinite code-monkeys. The basic economics of software development means that software companies have to spend less making a game than they expect to make in profits. Adding huge amounts of complications into the game won't sell many more games, but will significantly increase the money needed to make those changes. Although notionally, these changes might seem small, in terms of software development and the RAGE engine, they are nowhere near trivial. As it happens, RDR2 was scheduled to be released in 2017, it ended up being delayed by a year. We know that some of the plot was re-written, and we can assume that some of the game mechanics were extended/re-written/added. The quality of the game that they eventually released is evident in the unanimous high scores and good reviews it's received. This tells us (and Rockstar) that the balance between playability and complexity was about right. I am quite frankly amazed that Rockstar put so much effort into the single-player aspect of this game considering how much revenue is generated by the online aspects these days. Most campaign stories of the Call of Duty games involve 20 or so hours (often less). The recent Tomb Raider games are more open, but still have little to offer the single player. You can't put animals on a cart because most people won't bother. you only need to take animals to camp in order to fulfill one of the challenges - every other time, you can give Pearson butchered meat. And there's no real need to do that either after a certain point. Sometimes you shoot stuff and you can't get to the kill. Well, that's real enough. Horses aren't mountaineers. Well, that's real enough. You can't buy land and build a house outside of the script. I can't see many players getting excited about doing this when they can feed night-folk to the gators instead. John can't swim. That's pretty real - you need to find another way of getting across water. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to run off and find a chipmunk and an oriole.

  14. As far as I know they have no value to us in game, you can not harvest them or sell them after or anything like that, if you shoot them they will break apart. I didnt mess with this one, if you walk up to it, the bee's will swarm you but you dont seem to lose health or stamina. I have only seen one myself in three play through's I id see a video of another one over by The Elysiam pool. Although they have no value and serve no purpose, they are seemingly pretty rare to encounter.

  17. Frankly, if the game replicated realistic weather patterns based on time, frequency, etc., it would be pretty boring in that regard. The reason they do it in RDR2 and GTA was 1) because now they can and 2) to provide a sense of variety and to help create a feeling of being in a living, breathing environment. Personally, I like the changes in weather, etc.

  18. - Trappers Butchering Location are deserted in Online - NO Hand made Trappers or Native American OUTFIT available in online - NOT a single Native Tribe ...nor one single NATIVE AMERICAN NPC or any Native American NOTHING ! What all you Western Game Developers and Movie Makers have AGAINST NATIVES ?! This game looks more like an EARLY GANGSTERS than a LATE WESTERN ...and new outfit are all way too dandy and freaky...come on …! Old RDR was more WESTERN than the rdr2 is...and it was set 15 years LATER than rdr2 … beahh

  19. well first off let me say welcome to RDR 2 the first game was amazing and one of the best experiences I've had in video games so hopefully this one will be as great or even better than the first, of course that was because I was a part of a Crew that immersed themselves in the game along with other crews etc.. that being said I Believe in order to have the best experience you'd have to join up with people whether it be a just for fun crew, grinding crew, rp crew, competitive etc.. it will definitely help you to enjoy it much more than you would solo. Anyways playing solo is still a viable option, not sure if these were answered but Hunting is literally the best way to make money right now if youre trying to avoid conflict, otherwise replaying the online story missions is or stranger missions but players can attack during those. when I first started, I would hunt small animals such as foxes, turkeys, etc.. hunt enough and you would have enough (now meat) to sell and make decent money until you can buy a Varmint (what I did but you should skip this) so you can finally kill smaller game and get pristine conditioned carcasses, then save up and don't customize anything until you get a bolt action rifle so you can hunt bigger game, then I bought a fishing pole which was so damn worth it I only bought a Lake Lure for 1 gold and it has made me well over 3k dollars alone by just fishing sockeye salmon or steelhead trout. worth the gold. as far as customizing goes, I held off until I had all the weapons I wanted, that way I had several options when it came to combat, bought a different horse so I could travel faster and longer, then clothing to make my native character actually look more native and so forth. camp upgrades do absolutely nothing at the moment but refill your cores at a slightly faster rate if you were to go to your camp and rest. upgraded saddle bags do nothing at the moment either so don't buy those, Pump Shotgun is arguably the best shotgun in game so don't be like me and buy a repeating one, sawed off works great as well when you dual wield. you can sell herbs to a doctor or medicinal vendor forgot what they're called, you can also reset some awards so when you get to gold tier make sure you reset them if possible, fish and hunt for things you can put in your satchel that way if players want to kill you or w.e. you wont lose them. I cant think of anything else, but I started off with nothing and now I have 3 outfits that I made, 4 horses with upgraded saddles, all the guns I want/need fully customized and upgraded, I only buy express ammo. Im only level 68 so its possible to do this without pull a no lifer. Also one other thing I have many perks but I never upgraded them because 1. I play free aim so the ones I use now wont be useful when people cant instantly headshot you or aimbot you, 2. they cost a lot of money and since its a beta they will probably tweak them and change them as the full game comes out (they already did this once). hopefully this helped and idk what else to mention but I truly believe you should look for a crew you find interesting because it enhances the experience, and im extremely anti social so I can kind of understand, but as time goes on you will get comfortable enough with them to actually enjoy their presence. you don't have to but I think it would help. im on xbox as well so hit me up whenever my GT is the same as my name one these forums.

  20. I've played all but Skyrim but let me narrow this down to Fallout 4 so I dont have to spend the day typing. Open? Why cant I build anything outside of a settlement in Fallout games? Maybe I want to start a whole new settlement of my own. Why cant I scrap out cars or wood that I find along the road? I cant plant crops outside of a settlement. The map might be larger but it isnt anymore open than red deads map. Even Minecraft, with its 30 million blocks, is limited by being 90% water. As far as "real" goes (real/open)......Nothing in that game seems "real".

  21. There is only one Free Roam at the moment and there isn't a specific posse session the game will place you in. While "Free Roam" inserts you into the game alone, "Posse Up" simply adds you to an open posse in a session. You are in a game with others that came in alone, as a "Posse Up" option, those who joined with friends, etc.

  22. If you’re on an Xbox, you can share your capture to OneDrive and then download from there. I’m not sure how PlayStation works.
