  1. Thanks Kean_1. I understand the rules and changes. NDX I also noticed the predator/prey relationship was really accurate. My progress says I have played three days worth of gameplay and I can tell you I spent most of that on hunting and animal exploration.

  2. You're not the only one bud. See it as a man's version of a "Lifetime Movie". It'll hit you hard in the chest. No tears. Just some strong stuff that makes you human. When making Arthur head back to that cave was the most badass feeling ever. Gonna finally get this Micah guy once and for all. Then seeing him just lay there was tough. I stopped playing for awhile. the epilogue came up and just couldn't keep playing it. Took a couple weeks for me to be like well there's a little bit more to explore that is left. It may sound a little extreme but when my first playthrough of RDRII and Arthur met the demise. Took off work and said there was a death in the family. Got a couple days off, you would play more of it while having more time and just couldn't do it. Just chilled thought about life itself and how a little ole game changed the meaning of life for me.

  3. People say they're going to report you just to troll you, don't worry about it. If they do report you and R* look at the log data for your session and see that you weren't ghosting, nothing will happen to you (you won't hear anything). If these guys continually report maliciously, then they'll find themselves suspended for abusing the reporting system. Basically, ignore it and carry on with your life.

  4. I absolutely loved the game. Everything about it. The hunting, the fishing and the story. The only problem I had was the fact that it was so d a m good I have felt a sadness since I beat the game. The story was so well written and I became so attached to the character that I can't get over the fact that Arthur is gone. Is anyone else feeling this blues and emptiness?

  5. The little rectangle in the red crosshairs is a cabin. You will find platinum earrings, a platinum necklace, liquor, canned goods, and express ammo for your rifle 😁 and maybe even some gun oil. You can hit this once every 24 hours. Also, Braithwaite Mansion has platinum jewelry, first bedroom on the left upstairs and there are liquors in the dining room. Premium cigarettes in the living room You can only hit these spots once in a 24-hour period

  7. For sure, 100% with you on this. I went back and played it a second time, and tried to find everything I missed the first time, then after that, I was still not satisfied, so I played it a third time, but this time, I played it and found everything as I went, it was awesome! So I would get to a camp, say the first one, Horseshoe over look, immediately go hunting, and sell the stuff to get a few bucks to make a few upgrades at camp and weapons, found a gold bar, to help, then did two missions, the one to unlock the fence and the stables and then off to get the buck antler trinket, once you do that your pelts are more often better, so it is a good way to start. Anyway from there, I would do a mission, then a few side missions, and along the way any stranger missions I encountered, bounties, etc.. Putting the story missions off until I was bored or all caught up, Getting the satchel fully upgraded early on is key so that takes some time and gets you out hunting a lot. By the time I got to chapter 3, I had the full satchel upgraded, my camp maxed out, tons of stuff discovered, 8 or 9 companion requests, most of the carvings, bones, and catchers, a good amount of the legendary fish and animals, etc.. I was so stocked up with stuff, that the rest of the game was really easy and flowed really well, doing things like the Algernon Wasp missions was tough but not when you have that satchel, Anyway, after my third playthrough I feel like I found everything I really enjoyed the play through that time, it was more natural, like what I woudl expect a guy to do, he woudl go hunting, and picking, and then crafting, exploring, searching for treasure, helping out strangers and discovering secrets along the way like serial killers and vampires, etc.. It was awesome! and I am really glad I went back and did it all over again. So, yeah I think most people really felt attached to Arthur and the story in general and it is perfectly natural to feel that way.

  8. Yes, as you go back to the old camp spots, you should hear dialogue from the gang members, like a haunting memory in Johns head. I was able to hear this at both Clemmens point and Horseshoe overlook.

  9. You start getting them at level 10 I believe, every 5 levels. So, you would have gotten one at levels 10 and 15.

  10. NDX I hear you. It still feels like there's a recent death in the family. The game is so dam great though and I can't stop playing it. I'm going for 100% of 100%. This is by far the best game I have ever played. I am working on filling every bit of the compendium and the detail they put into the wildlife is amazing.

  11. Yeah I heard about people playing their old/new saves fine before. It seems with the newest patch they removed this ability. All one has to do is revert and play past the tutorial section and they can free roam though. Not the biggest problem, just a di*k move by R*

  12. There's a lot to learn on vaporizers. Once your mind decides that the vaporizer is better and more convenient than the cigarette. You'll be feeling like a new person hopefully. Just stick with it. When your mind does that strange signal thought of "I need a cigarette" just pause and overlap that thought of a cigarette with a "Got something better than a cigarette" then keep puffing that vaporizer. Trick for me was waking up with no coffee or a cigarette and just puff that portable hooka that with everything costed $300. So the price and only a little bit of willpower helped me notice cigarettes taste terrible and was the reasons for feeling drowsy and tried throughout the day everyday. Not too fond of the "vape shops" either. See blowing vapor like a chimney around everyone in a room is rude in my eyes. You'll cough alot at first. You'll also kinda feel the back of your throat start to clear up and almost feel like its "healing". Just make sure you use a reasonable wattage and temperature. Keep a eagle eye on the batteries. The tips of the battery can easily become chipped and can cause some unwanted sparks once being slotted in the mod itself. Plus hearing nightmares on batteries from cellphones to mods exploding. Just make sure your batteries are in good shape and it probably wouldn't hurt to replace them every year or so. Tried to get my father to use a vaporizer for years now. He's just too stubborn. It's pain though, seeing him cough up everything in the mornings when visiting him. While thinking "Man, all that can be erased if you just stick with the vaporizer". Do know everyone is different which implies everyone's addiction is somewhat different as well. But altering your mind to thinking the vaporizer is the cigarette itself is probably the key to noticing life is alot different without tar or ash and smoke surrounding you.

  13. I missed Arthur also, that is one of the big reasons i really struggled and had to force myself to play through the epilogue. Yep i quit looking at the journal after the first few entries from John,

  14. After a few days of exploring, I think I've found all of the jewelry spawns in Online. I think I've hit every location across the entire map but please let me know if I've missed any. I haven't found any jewelry past Blackwater which is odd. General rule, Loot everything in these marked locations and you will find it. (Unless somebody has beat you to it) - Jewelry items are random. Example: you might get a ring, bracelet, necklace, or 2 earrings from the same "box" in multiple tries. - Some locations have 2 jewelry spawns ("Hanging Dog Ranch", "Painted Sky", "Martha's Swain")

  15. It’ll likely be introduced in the next big title update if they’re announcing it now. There will be a big list of all the stuff they’re adding, we’ll all get excited over the new game modes and missions, then we’ll get a few things with ‘more to come’....

  16. /Here's the announcement. Sounds like it was on the same day but I guess it only ran for that day (3/19/19)? See below for a schedule of what’s still to come to the Red Dead Online Beta before our next full update: Today - Free Roam Event: Fishing Challenge March 26 - Target Races and additional PS4 early access content: Open Target Races April 2 - Showdown Mode: Up In Smoke April 9 - Showdown Mode: Plunder/

  17. If they were to do anything to penalize people, I'm sure R* takes into account how many times a player is reported, by how many different people, the reporters own history, etc. I wouldn't worry about it in the slightest nor would I even engage in dialogue with people like that. .....and most certainly never send a msg via MS or PSN messaging as some have done to continue an argument. That's just asking for trouble.

  18. I'm usually solo playing RDR2 online, but I've had some fun times with a small group of people. It's kinda lonesome, but I still find myself just immersed in the games beauty. I'm not much of a talker, so people tend to just forget about me; the last group I was with I had some good times, but then there are a couple members that grief solo players and one guy is somewhat toxic over voice chat; I'm not offended, but I just cant stand for it. The problem is they always end up joining the posse i'm in but I don't stay silent when they go out of their way to attack a single player, so it gets awkward. Anyway, I went back to being a lone wolf for the time being; when they implement R* social club crews into the game, then things might work out better who knows. How about you?

  19. You're right. I miss Arthur as well. The story for me was fantastically written, acted, and performed. I know I could start all over again, but I completed the game on my third attempt, so that's doubtful.

  20. Apologies if this has been covered in another thread but it really bugs me that currently we can't sell goods to the General Store in Online. In my quest to find all the jewelry spawns throughout the map, I've hit some killer hauls fairly quickly so I'm well stocked on dry goods, spirits, tobacco, tonics, and canned goods. I've even maxed out quite a few items. I get that some items would be unreasonable to sell such as opened liquors or tonics but if we can combine opened items to create full items, then sell them, that may make it more worthwhile to carry around. Sure I could just use the items but it would benefit my playstyle more to have a few cents in my roll of cash. Saving up for those extra horse stalls ain't cheap! Just thought I would get the boards opinions before I put in the effort to make a formal suggestion
    1 point
  21. I don't know if this is legit or not but I heard there will be an option to sell your own goods in your camp eventually. Like other players can enter your camp in a passive mode and actually by stuff from a vendor that you personally stock. Maybe that is why this isn't an option?
    1 point
  22. I would love this as an option whilst hunting. Imagine having your dog with you and sitting near you but off in the distance taking cover. He can be watching your horse and your back. If he barks, it will let you know another player is approaching you or your horse so you have time to defend yourself.

  25. Not sure if you read the entire article I linked to but it's way more than just the Hostility system. There is also going to a passive mode of sorts where you will be able to choose Offensive or Defensive. The Offensive status will work much the same as it does now in RDO while the Defensive option will provide even more balance to those who would prefer it. In Defensive mode, auto-aim will not work between human players. You won't be able to lock on to other players and they will not be able to lock on to you. You will also not be susceptible to critical hits (e.g. no one-shot headshots) but you will also not be able to deliver such damage on other players. Also, those who attack you will immediately be highlighted as enemies and you will be able to defend yourself via the Hostility system all while still remaining in Defense mode. ....so if you choose to escape, they still will not be able to lock onto you with auto aim. Griefers will still find ways to grief but I think these upcoming changes will really help especially those who are just starting out and may have found the balance quite lopsided and overwhelming. ....in other words, less chances of being steam rolled. I think a lot of your check boxes will get checked this Spring.

  26. Defensive for me. Most of the time, I'm just not in the mood to deal with the jackasses even though I'm fully capable of doing so.
    1 point
  27. Offensive all the way. Ain't no gain, for me, without the risk. Every time I get my ass kicked I come back stronger/smarter like a true saiyan lol.
    1 point
  28. I was wondering about that... without re-reading the page, I was thinking it could either be that you become marked as an enemy to the player you attacked, or you could be marked as an enemy to the lobby. If it’s the latter, it could make for some fun cops and robbers play.
    1 point
  29. I'll likely opt for Defensive mode most times if not all. As @Netnow66mentioned, there are already several missions that encourage randoms to challenge me as well as PvP events, player assassinations, daily challenges, etc. that I routinely participate in (some not necessarily as a volunteer) and I'm ok with that. Besides, there is still the possibility of randoms trying to kill me regardless of my status so it's not as if the threat goes away entirely, but I'm not going to put myself out there as a more willing target because that's simply not what I do (even now). I don't know if others noticed but there was something in the explanation of the Hostility system that caught my eye..... Seems that when someone gets marked as a hostile that everyone else who isn't hostile may be able to attack them without penalty. .....so those white-hats running around trying to help keep law and order so to speak may have more opportunity an incentive to do so.

  30. offensive... defensive is for yeller bellies.
    1 point
  31. I wouldn't say most who have voiced concerns about the subject would agree that open participation missions would be considered "griefing" per se. ......although I would say that there are have been folks who will tend to lump most people who complain about griefing into that camp. Personally, I don't particularly like the randomness of being chosen as the target since sometimes I'm trying to do something at that moment and it can be a PITA. Also, I find the missions boring as most times the pursuer is usually quite far from my location so it's easy enough to avoid them. As for targets becoming sour, I will say that I have had my fair share of pursuers that have done that too after successfully defending myself. After the mission was over they would keep coming because they were upset I fought back I guess. ....it goes both ways.

  32. Well, maybe your right. But I have the feeling no matter what they try, there will always be a fraction of the players that will do the best they can to find exploits to the system to take advantage of. And there will always be a fraction of players that find something wrong with whatever rockstar releases/patches/fixes and complain about it... Me, I think this system sounds like a good balanced approach, since it appears that for the time being at least we are all sharing the same lobbies. I’ll reserve my condemnation of the idea until after I’ve had a chance to try it out.
    1 point
  33. This game has a lobby option problem.. So theres really no need to keep dumbing the game down even more with a bunch of convoluted ideas. Give me a hardcore lobby. All free aim. No ability/passive cards. (Dead eye only makes your aim perfect/no recoil). Blips only show up when shooting and players are in ear shot. No stupid defensive/offensive/bounty systems. If R* would simply add more lobbys.. People would actually be happy. I know I would.

  34. You really shouldn't be surprised when tons of people wanted and cheered for abortion being an option all the way up until birth. People pretend to value human life when it suits a narrative of an objective.
    1 point
  35. I would add that the range for "peaceful" player blips is 150 meters which is relatively close. Also, as I understand it, your range will extend a bit when you fire your weapon so if there is a player just outside of 150 meters, they may see you but you won't see them when you fire. As a "blue dot", you essentially have the advantage over any other player who isn't also a blue blip in regard to being able to see where they are. ......and them not being able to see you. Ambushes by NPCs will appear immediately in close proximity as they reveal themselves to try and kill you (they appear as red dots as mentioned and I strongly suspect that is what you experienced. This is why it pays to ride with a weapon at the ready IMO and to keep your eyes open near choke points, some bridges, bends, etc. You get 150 XP for killing them all and they are worth looting. I would also suggest downloading the RDR2 companion app. You can then view the big map on your phone or other Android / Apple device without having to keep switching back and forth in game. It's nice having a big picture view with just a glance. I feel naked without it.

  36. Gotta catch them all, baby it's you and me, you know it's my destiny! It is a pain in the arse. As mentioned above, you have to hunt them down and once they are gone, they are gone.
    1 point
  37. I hope they do add a passive mode and we can have what we want. I think you already have what you want, but for some reason you seem very upset by the idea of anyone else being happy. I can also help you wrap your head around the idea of the game being played online, it would be with friends in co-op, which single player does not offer, as the missions and story are all different in the online mode.
    1 point
  38. Born summed it up great. It can be a bit annoying using the map and not understanding it. I was like this for several weeks. Once you get what everything means, it makes it easier to avoid people if that is your thing. I like to avoid most other players unless I plan on going in guns blazing.
    1 point
  39. The map and blips are explained in the HELP section in game. You dont see players on your map unless they are Dark Red (they are aggressive players either to NPCs or Players but not all are bad) where you can see them anywhere on the map. Blue icons you have to be extremely close unless they are bright blue which means they are in your posse. Purple can be spotted a bit further than blue because they are close to being considered aggressive (dark red). If you ever played the story then you know NPCs pop up on the radar/map as smaller versions of the player dots (bright red). They will ambush you from time to time, when you're finished killing them all you get bonus exp and it says "bandits cleared". Im sure you will run into this so.. bright red (regular sized blip) can only be seen in close proximity, and will usually show a general direction on your radar. You won't be able to see them on your map if they go far.

  40. I have been able to do some missions solo easily but others were impossible. You have to have like a minimum of three people in your group to complete it. I am fine with this but add more missions for people who run solo or make the missions 20% easier if they are hard ones and you are alone.

  42. There seem to be alot of smart people in these forums. I have no problem with others who want something different than i do. If you are a person who loves killing other players you already have several options available to you in many of the pvp modes. If you are a player who wants to enjoy playing with a few close friends in a truly wonderful game world where you could do missions and experience everything at a pace you choose, you currently have ZERO options. The single player game world is single player!! I was really hoping for a world that would let me enjoy playing with friends and experiencing the content without being bothered by other players who simply want to shoot me for fun. Some people have said they havent had that problem, and that is great for you. But the community that was in the online game from the start basically ran off most of my friends in a week. So I am just going to do like someone else said and stop playing and kinda keep a check on the progress. If it improves, great, if not the player base will just continue to get smaller until not much is left. My only thing is that i was hoping for a pve co-op world, and so were many of my friends, but the game seems to be going into another direction and (to me) it does not look like something i want to be part of. I have been hopeful with most updates that fixes would be put in place for an even playing field for pve and pvp. The current fixes are nothing more than a band-aid. I already have 300+ hours in game, so if i never play it again, i have got my value.

  43. I get that it is the wild west, but there is currently no way to control a small group of idiots from ruining the game for many other people. When do we get to form a lynch mob and send 50 people after the 3 red dots on the map and make them pay for shooting some random low level guy. The law eventually tamed the wild west. In the games current state, there is no punishment for players who only want to ruin the game for others. Until this is fixed this game will be a haven for a toxic community.

  44. Good post @lumper it was fun, lots and lots of fun, i was addicted, just shy of 18 days total playtime in story mode on my first play through. but then i hit the burn out, I go all out and play something non stop like this and then it takes a lot of will power after it's over to go back and do it again. Love the game though, still think it's one of the best games ever made, just time for me to take a break and go shoot bad guys in The Division 2 tonight after work I still play now an then on weekends, doubt i'll ever play online, i don't have the patience to play with the spoiled little kids (or adults with the brainpower of little kids) online anymore.

  47. Until Friday I think. (TD2 Release) Then it gets shelved until the beta is over I think or until they add different lobbies. And if they don't then the story was great and online isn't. That simple.
