HuDawg, you have effectively summed up the differences between you and I and why you seem confused by my statement. I am not playing RDO as a shooter. I bought RDR2 to play a western. To enjoy an old west setting with old west plot themes, stories, characters and events. RDR2 was not a shooter. It was/is a story based, single player, mission driven, immersion into the trials and troubles of being a bandit on the run in the old west. This is what I played to 100% completion in the single player mode and what I want to continue to play in a shared online world with folks who share my love of old west tropes. I am not playing RDO to run around shooting everything that moves or player that crosses my path. If I want to do that, I will join a PVP event (make those free aim, I don't care) but I rarely do join such events because I find them boring and not at all immersive in terms of experiencing an old west online world. I don't personally recall events in the old days were men and women were encouraged to shoot, dynamite, and kill one another for sport. Maybe I just missed those tales. /shrug Like I said in a previous comment, I like PVP. I enjoy PVP aspects of the game and enjoy the free roam dangers that an open PVP world allows. But that doesn't mean I play this game to PVP. I play this game for the western tropes, the missions, the immersion of riding, hunting, fishing, making friends, making enemies, and generally playing and leveling up a cool western character in a cool western world. Making the game more PVP centric simply does not interest me, much. I would much rather R* focus on more missions, more cooperative events, more free roam events, more random encounters, more NPC characters and interactions, more reasons to Hunt and Craft, more reasons to use your camp and defend it, continuing to fix bugs, etc, etc. If I wanted to play a straight up shooter game, I have better games to choose from. That's not what I play RDO for. Obviously, I may be in the minority. But that's OK. I paid in, so I'm entitled to share my mind as well. YMMV.3 points

well in series showdown , players are half afk running in circle / or near the outside of map with a bow and paint in black and spawn kill every player , these players are like lvl 150 and they spawn kill low level players , they dont do objectives , by exemple that coward went 59-3 0 captures in hostile territory , his team lost , even if we report them , it not going to change anything about these spawn campers totally ruining the pvp , if you are one of them , you shouldnt be any proud . the only fixes for that wouldnt be to reduce the range of bow with paint in black1 point

Very nicely put. I agree with about 99% of what you wrote. And, for me personally, a game that is so full and rich with content is wasted if played as a shooter. As you said, there are other games that fit the bill.1 point

This hits the nail on the head. I would like to place a bet: the people that return are going to whine and moan and complain because their level is not high enough to afford buying a ranch or a cabin; they are going to whine and moan and complain because they don't have the level or money to buy weapons and enhancements; they won't have the newer horses or enhanced equipment to improve the performance of those premium horses. overall I think they're going to be miserable because they are going to be seriously outgunned and under experienced. Let them come. I have paid my dues, grinded and grinded and grinded and loved every bit of it despite the frustrations of Griefers and glitches and PVP events I don't like but can avoid by choice.yes please come back because I will have a bullet or 12 with your name on it. My reward for that grinding isn't an inflated or even over-inflated ego, it is a sense of accomplishment from dedicated time and effort. As my two characters-- The Grey Hare and BlueAgaveShots would say, "Welcome back, greenhorn. Since you've been gone, I done paid my dues, cowboy. There's a new sheriff in town and you ain't it."1 point

Me too! I remember Everquest where if you died you had a long and naked trek back to the zone where you died, to "try" and sneak back to your corpse, which was now camped by the monsters that already beat you when you had armor and weapons, just to try and get your stuff back. This usually did not end well, of course. Oh, and by dying, you lost xp and could actually de-level yourself in the process! Ah, fun times.1 point

I remember Ultima Online, you lost everything when you died.1 point

....and the next update looks to help take care of that but yeah, we already had that discussion and I understand you believe that won't work due to griefers exploiting it. IMO, griefers will always find way to grief but then again, I really don't have that big of a problem with them in the game's current state. I've been able to avoid them easily enough and even defended myself without much issue. ....and I didn't automatically turn red myself for doing so as I don't press home the point like some do with these guys (e.g. repeatedly killing to the point where I become marked myself). The posse and one-kill parley were also welcome changes as I had been on the receiving end of one of those assaults a couple times where different high ranking members of a posse continued to kill my group until we were forced to leave the session. I never got killed enough times by one member to parley with them and even if I did, that wouldn't stop all the others from railroading me. ...that was until the update of course. With the next update it's nice to know that I can retaliate without consequence and also play in a defensive mode if I want to where auto aim is not a factor, etc. Seems to me that if only those who ride, run or shoot are visible, then griefers who are hiding and waiting to ambush would have a huge advantage over other players. At least now with proximity blips, other players appear on the edge of our minimaps so we have time to react. I never liked the idea that anyone is visible from any part of the map regardless of what they are doing (shooting, riding , etc.). IMO, it's better that it's based on relatively close proximity. ....although the game also does briefly extends that range a bit when you shoot. Being a blue dot has advantages and disadvantages for all players. You never know exactly where another player is but you will both become visible to one another when you are within each others proximity range. I still prefer it this way though as I still have time to evade and now with the proximity blips, I can actually escape from their sight once out of range (I can double back, take another route, etc.). ....before they could simply keep tracking me all over the map if they wanted to which has happened to me on more than one occasion in the past. Again, I disagree. I think they are listening it's just that some people don't like what or who they are listening to. ....which is fine. We all have a voice and those of us who had been asking for those changes used ours to help get them implemented. While I don't agree with everything they have done, I actually like most of what they have changed so far and what they said they have planned to do. One thing I didn't like was making player kills a part of daily challenges as that only seemed to promote the very thing they were trying to help mitigate. .....but they listened and they will be removing those from the daily challenges in the Spring Update. I wouldn't mind different session options but those haven't even been confirmed let alone mentioned so if Free Roam is to be this one-for-all solution, then I prefer current this vision of theirs.1 point

Two endings equals on rails to me--it's just two sets of them. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Red Dead Redemption 2 doesn't do what it does almost better than any other game of its type that I've played. But I've been there and done that. In Red Dead Redemption 2, I'm forced to play a character that thinks nothing like me and certainly looks nothing like me. As usual. I had no interest in purchasing that game. But RDO changes all that. Choose sex. Choose race. Choose outlaw/comboy/gunslinger/hunter/fisherman, not just for part of the game but for the whole game if you wish. That's why RDO is the game I wanted to play and it's the game that I purchased. Now if Rockstar only makes it the game they stated it was going to be in the beginning (with updates like the upcoming offensive/defensive hopefully), I won't have any problem playing that way.1 point

Hi Viper and welcome to the forums. I have to tell you though that this is a fan site. RDR2.org is not affiliated with Rockstar or 2K. Having said that, R* does have a website for the RDO Beta where you can provide feedback if your intention was to speak to them directly. https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback1 point

If that is your opinion then you are certainly entitled to it, I disagree, strongly. I have never seen a game with such good acting, good story, great graphics, and physics, or AI, etc ever in my life and I have been playing video games for a long time, since 1975 or before, that is my earliest memory of it, 74, / 75. Not only that but they broke the mold of finishing a game within the deadline no matter what, even if that game isnt quite right or could be better, Rockstar said no way, we arent releasing this game until it is near perfect, (talking about the single player game) they werent willing to sacrifice any quality for time or money, and that is a huge step in the right direction for gamers who want the best. If you dont think the game is amazing and realize that with enough time, they will release a great product then why do you care so much, just move on to a better game. I think the reason so many people are so upset, is they are very passionate about the game and they want to play it right now, and they arent considering what it took to make this game and the fact that yeah, they fell behind on budget and time, get over it, its not the end of the world, it is a video game, and they arent going to hurry it along because you want to play it right now, they didnt listen to their board of directors and they arent going to listen to us either. It is a matter of father knows best, they know your pissed, they know you wanted it yesterday, but they also know what they are capable of and they know what they want the game to look like and feel like and play like when it is done, so you have to trust them and just find something else to do in the meantime. It seems crazy to me, to ":demand" anything or to roast them over it and call them names and complain about them,etc.. this is a game you like, the people who made this game and put this much into it have my respect 100% and I will be patient, after seeing how amazing of an experience they already delivered in the single player version I have no doubt that they will make online as good as it can be in time. Acting like your mad, making threats to leave and not come back, etc.. all the things people are doing, they are doing out of frustration because they simply want to play the game in its glory, not this un-finished mess of a game that we have at the moment. Just hang in there, once it is released and fixed, everyone will come back, people say nope, Im out, Ive had it, they did this and that and because of that they lost me, well I Say good, see ya, we have plenty of players, and will have plenty more, there is no shortage of players, even now as it is and those who stayed away until it got better will come back when it does, why wouldnt they, again, this game is amazing on its own, the online portion of it will also be amazing, in time. IMO We just have to wait it out.1 point

Yeah, it's all fake. RDO isn't really in development and they have no plans to create or release new content for it. .....and no one is actually being allowed to play during this time. Oh, and MTXs are irrefutable proof of that. .....yeah, spot on.1 point

Good places for small birds for me have been at Camp Overlook (after the crew have moved out) - there's birds on the rocks by the path and around the camp site itself. Also, the rocks around the river crossing to the north of the Beaver Hollow camp has a good assortment (including Robins).1 point

i had numerous carcasses needed for the hunting requests and the exotics, and never did run into the glitch for progression. I had all the heron plumes and then some extra long before i got to chapter 4. I kept getting the prompt to sell them in the nicer part of the city or whatever that was so i kept them all.1 point

That seems a little hostile, I was just saying myself, and EVERY person I know on xbox carry an xbox live account and did long before rdr2, just adding an observation is all, I dont know why you felt the need to be salty to me, But ok. Im sorry if you took offense to my statement, I certainly didnt mean any. These boards are for discussing things, if you have to be nasty because someone has a different opinion, maybe this isnt for you either. Im sure there are many people who do not maintain an xbox live account and got one to try this game. Personally if I was one of them, I would have looked on youtube and online first to see what is up with the online game, and after seeing how it is going I most likely would not have spent the money yet, I might have waited until the game was more refined so it didnt feel like a waste of money.0 points
