  1. That's 15.5 million units (not dollars). Anyhow, I'm certain RDR2 will be a success for R* and quite confident that it will surpass what this analysis assumes simply because I don't believe R* is one to rest on its laurels and churn out copies of the same thing. They are creative and innovative. That to me is the difference between their games and most others. .....and why their titles have been big hits with their fans.
  2. I think the product description says it all. As to whether that stuff is worth it to you or not is your choice. Personally, it's not to me but I'm sure others find value in it.
  3. Yeah, I have a feeling R* is well aware of what fans want from this game. I don't think they have any intentions or are even interested in creating a GTAV:O environment in RDR2.
  4. Well, if you're on PS4 and want to, hit me up. My PSN profile is the same (Kean_1). Just send me a friend invite if you wish. I am in the U.S. (West coast). ...funny, my wife just got back from a week long trip (business). I'm usually on at night doing something regardless. .....I really hate this dry spell with games right now.
  5. ....just 3 more months.
  6. I totally understand and I really hope RDR2:O is nowhere near the same "griefer's paradise" that GTAV:O is. Having said that, when I do play GTAV:O I only play online alone or with friends. There are ways to fool the servers into forcing you into your own sessions. Occasionally you might get someone who wanders in but they are usually doing the same thing and will leave you alone or simply leave. If the session begins to fill up, I start a new one. It's relatively rare though as most times I can play without being disturbed. If I want to play heists or jobs with randoms, I fix my settings and join invites or create my own from the comfort of my apartment, business, etc. If you're on PS4 and want to do some jobs, business activities, etc., in GTAV:O let me know.
  7. I can already see R* doing a better job than Ubisoft in several areas in regards to gameplay. I have no doubt that would hold true for a mechanic like this if they were to implement it in RDR2. ....so yes, I can see fishing being more entertaining in RDR2 but I think it's more about the whole package (e.g. mechanics, discovery, ambiance, multiple activity choices, etc.) that helps make a difference.
  8. Good deal. Glad you figured it out and thanks for posting your solution as I'm sure this will help others in the same boat.
  9. Fishing was fun in FC5. ......for about 15 minutes. FC5 was the only title I actually regretted buying in a long time. Not just disappointment but actual regret for a # of reasons.
  10. I can't imaging that they wouldn't allow players to create their own character similar to GTAV. .....in online mode of course. There was already talk that they would not have the same "radar" system as GTAV:O and that it would be based on proximity instead. How far that "net" would be cast is unknown. I would really prefer your idea of not knowing who's who in the game world and leave it at that. No radar and no silly markers hanging over others heads. ....unless it's an option for friends in your group or something along those lines. There could even be an identification system required before an enemy is marked within a set radius as a compromise.
  11. I always thought it would be cool to have wanted posters at train stations, sheriff's offices, post offices, etc. with the current players who have bounties that other players can click to view. Perhaps the bounties could last for a while given the assumed lack of a radar feature. ....aside from the initial "ping" that shows their location at the time of the crime. It could also be fun to be the one who is wanted given the additional risk of being caught if recognized. Maybe you would only be briefly marked when you get within close proximity to people who have viewed your wanted poster?
  12. ......ya got me thinkin' now. I'm wondering if the solution might simply be a USB mic. Sorry if that has already been suggested (haven't checked any of the supplied links). I think if you try to plug anything into the 3.5mm jack of the DS4 controller it will automatically block the audio from the PS4 out to your speakers. On the other hand, a USB mic might simply be viewed as specifically a microphone. ......if that makes sense. If anything, maybe this might help you in a search for a solution if you start looking at these types of devices specifically?
  13. ....or they become marked for that period and a bounty set on their head for several minutes (or longer). .....with a wanted poster displayed briefly on the screen showing the offender and amount.
  14. One thing to consider is being "that guy" that has the background audio from the TV coming through their mic. I've had some people I've played with online where they were apparently using their PS4 camera mic. Everyone in the party could hear the audio from their TV and even our own voices which can get really annoying. With a dedicated mic, you should be able to adjust that though since it will be next to you instead of the TV. ....if you can find a solution that works in your scenario.
  15. Filing taxes are part of real life as well but i wouldn't necessarily enjoy reliving such realities in a game. Seriously though, having this in the game wouldn't be an issue for me. It didn't bother me in GTAV although other than an initial surprise and laugh, I never felt the need to keep revisiting the strip club, getting lap dances at my apartment, picking up hookers in my car, etc. When I think of meaningful gameplay in these titles, sex and nudity are not on my list of mechanics / features I'd actively seek or even miss. My only point here was not everyone is necessarily offended at such content just because they show indifference or a lack of interest in it within this context. If some folks get their enjoyment from it though, yeah.....ok. Whatever floats your boat or in this case, tosses it. btw, I'm at the half century mark so I can relate to the days of pre-cable / internet. Actually, our first set top box was ONTV with a knob that was either "on" or "off".
  16. ....yeah, I can tell you my remarks are not a case of being a prude or easily offended by such material in games as I am truly indifferent. On the other hand, I find it more curious as to why some individuals would even find a feature like "pixelated boobs" and animated sex something they would be interested in for a game like RDR2. ....but at this point I could give two poops about it at as I'm currently more concerned about a dozen other gameplay mechanics.
  17. I would definitely prefer not having markers as well. It would certainly be interesting not knowing "who is who". ....although I'll wager griefers would find a way to exploit this mechanic. ....but if there were components in place to help mitigate those issues it might be pretty fun.
  18. I'm ok with a later release of RDR2:O as I usually prefer to play the campaign first. ......but on the other hand, unlike past R* games, I'm coming into this one with good, co-op friends I didn't have with past titles. Given that, I guess I also wouldn't mind a same day release. I guess the main point here is that I won't be heartbroken if it is delayed a bit.
  19. I thought about replaying RDR but I can't use those PS3 controllers anymore after getting used to the PS4.
  20. That's the way to do it.
  21. In all fairness, I never mentioned that you need to watch YT tutorials to get around griefers but simply suggesting that there are examples of what I and many others have done to avoid them. .....and they are there to help those who might want it. Yoda seems to suggest that there are no ways to make in-game money without subjecting yourself to their torment but in fact there are plenty of ways you can. That is my point. I have said it before but I agree that griefers are definitely a problem in GTAV:O. I don't like that the behavior is not only tolerated but also encouraged in the game. I would love for R* to change that in RDR2 so we can still play in public sessions without the toxic PvP environment. At the very least I hope there is still a solo and friends-only option in online like there is in GTAV. I also hope there are still plenty of missions, jobs, etc. that we can do too.
  22. The problem with your argument is that there are several ways you can earn money (good money in some cases) in-game (including MC activities) without being in a public session as I was trying to point out (with several examples). ....even in a public sessions there are ways to avoid griefers. As I said before, unless you begin to start dabbling in VP and CEO businesses, there are still plenty of ways to make money without having to deal with the pitfalls of a public session. ....and even then (as I pointed out) I have been able to use a simple, well known trick changing my MTU setting to allow me to build these businesses, play VP missions, make money on cargo deliveries, etc. on a public session all by myself or with friends. If that's not an option then there are still activities like heists, jobs, races, etc. that can be played solo or with 2 or more players without being griefed by creating your own or joining them when you get notifications. IIRC, these will show up even when you're in a friends session. ......but even if you're in a public room you can still use passive mode to move around or simply spawn into a safe place like your garage, apartment, business, etc. while you wait for an invite or set up your own mission. The main point here is that once you're in most heists, a mission or a race, you're separated from all other randoms in that session (if there are any). I think Doomsday heist is a different story in the setup missions (because you have to play those while dealing with everyone in the session) but you also have an option to pay (in-game) to skip those and move on to the main mission(s) in that heist. Heists and jobs are also a great ways to make new friends who can help you with your MC business (which can also be played in an invite-only session unlike VP and CEO activities). .....or you can even join a crew where you can play in public sessions with an upper hand, help others move product to make a few bucks, etc. I get that you're soured on the whole GTAV:O experience but you're making it seem like there just isn't anything you can do in that game without subjecting yourself to random griefers when that simply isn't the case. ....quite the opposite in fact as there are plenty of ways to make money by yourself, with friends or even with randoms away from all of that as I have pointed out. ....and there are tons of YouTube tutorials showing you how to make good money without subjecting yourself to griefers.
  23. A matter of perspective I suppose but for the sake of argument, let's call GTA:O a P2W. One would still have to see that there is a clear difference between P2W models where one must pay for those items that provide an advantage vs. models like GTA:O where everyone still has access regardless. If anything I'd call GTA:O a "P2S" (pay to shortcut). I never liked GTA:O public servers and always prefer to play on solo, "friends only" or on a public server alone. As for the latter, that is achievable through a well known trick with the connection settings on my PS4 that would (in a way) force the game to place you in a session by yourself. Regardless, all biker missions are still possible to play on an invite-only session so you and your friends don't have to worry about griefers spoiling your fun. I believe it's any missions / businesses where you don't have to register as a VP or CEO. All the jobs are also possible to play with just friends provided you have enough people to fill the roster. ....I think most jobs require 4 players. Even then, you can still join a public server and just start or join jobs without wandering the gameworld getting griefed by others. You would still be joining randoms provided you don't have enough friends to fill all of the required slots in a crew. As for VP / CEO missions, I would start a session using the trick I mentioned and then have friends join me (or play alone). Every now and again a random might join the session but nine times out of ten they would either leave or they would do their own thing like I was. There are lots of tutorials on YouTube showing players how to make quick cash. I have several businesses myself in GTA:O, I'm over level 200, I have a fleet of aircraft , cars ,etc. but I still rarely ever played in a session with randoms. Having said all of that, I don't like the environment of public session in GTAV:O as "griefing" is clearly tolerated and even encouraged by design. I do hope RDR2:O is different in this respect although as far as the "pay" model, I'm ok with something similar to GTAV where I can still make in-game money for the same items.
  24. Yeah, I'm sure the activity around here will begin to go into overdrive about then. It has already picked up in recent days. Mea culpa Skunk
