So they added a KILL tax and Debt Collectors
Savage_Reaper replied to HuDawg's topic in Red Dead Online
He started shooting at us before mission started trying to get cheap kills. I still started the mission and he followed us . I don't know how this new system works but I always have a bounty from defending myself. It is stupid. I love good gun fights, but these clowns don't want to "fued" , they want to troll. And I refuse to give them the satisfaction of a parley. The good thing is that a lot of these players jump servers once they get killed or bored. -

I was holding a wagon for a mission. Had 10mins on timer. So for 10mins this tool and his cronies kept coming to me. Well as of now, if you defend yourself, your the "Bad Guy". -

Has nothing to do with finding players. When they shoot at me, it is always in the back. They want to try and get an easy kill or cheap shot. I have no problem defending myself but I have seen an increase in players taking pop shots at you. I was in Rhodes last night and this guy was on top of one of the house picking people off (still blue). I shot him and he followed my posse around on a mission. I didn't chase him, but he kept coming back like a mindless zombie. Than he called in two buddies to form a posse. There is no way I'm going to give a moron like the satisfaction of getting a kill on me just to parlay. Hell no. BUT....I shouldn't be punished is he keeps eating my bullets. -

They have to kill you in order to parley. I am not going to stand there and get killed on purpose. Sorry. That ain't me. -

Exactly . I can't stop running into them. Then I am punished because a posse who can't shoot for crap keeps coming at me? The new system is a joke. I have tried to feud with so many posses, but none wants to accept. They rather keep shooting at my posse and feeding us kills/giving us high bounties. Next thing we know Dog the Bounty Hunter and his Merry Men show up. Weak. I have had more people shoot at me since update than every before. Granted most suck and parley after I kill them once, but it is annoying. The update Tuesday was for two reasons. 1. Cut the balls off the economy by nerfing hunting because players with tons of cash will not buy Gold Bars. 2. Punish the player base for all the people who abused the St Denis Cop Ladder BS to level up. -
I just am not a big fan of a lot of this update. I had a level 16 last night keep coming at me like a mindless lemming. He never killed me but I had to kill him 10+ times. Under these new changes, I would be labeled as a toxic player or whatever people call it. The game will show that I keep killing the same person over and over. Fued with a player like this is pointless. Besides, no one ever accepts those things anyway. I see people defending themselves getting screwed over in this update but we shall see. Not a fan of watering down parts of this game.

Exactly. Seems stupid. I need to be selling the stuff R* is smoking.

Shooting/Killing Someone then Logging Off?
Savage_Reaper replied to Renascent's topic in Red Dead Online
Had someone pull that on me. But the "Recent Players" tab seems to be working on PS4 now. So I followed him to his new server a few times. Don't know if he learned his lesson, but he might at least think twice now. I hate wasting explosive ammo, but he caught me in a bad mood. -
Best counter is you have to learn to free aim. I love the perk. I use it to annoy varmit spammers. I think it is a brilliant perk. Every card set up can be countered. I faced a posse doing the same thing last week. But that is why I keep a scope on my Lancaster.

I hear you. That is my main horse.

Showdown would be your best bet IF you are trying to do it fast. You can still grind missions solo. Just go in areas with little to no traffic. Replaying the story missions pays ok. The Teddy Brown mission provides a descent amount of Xp.
-
I cracked 100 the other day . It really isn't that hard. Just be efficient with your time . My posse and I mainly grind out missions and keep resetting awards. You rank up pretty fast that way. Some people do a boat load of Showdown. I ran into a 221 last night in Rhodes.

I care less , but I can see a sea of tears coming from this. " I was just trying to hunt and this 4 man posse appeared on top of me." Don't think it will nullify a thing. In fact I see more griefers camping the butchers and shops because they know eventually someone will come by. I honestly think griefing will spike in all towns. People will just camp towns waiting for other players to roll through. Every roof top will have some tool waiting. I don't mind open world PVP but you have been quite adamant that others don't. I think this will force them into situations "they" don't want to be in. I like being able to see the whole map. It helps in mission, tracking griefers, seeing what parts of the map has high traffic, etc. The Companion App keeps a lot of players safe and aware of their surroundings as of now. Taking that from them is foolish to me. And what server are you on were 31 other players are after you??
-
I think it will be a disaster as well. It is going to create trigger happy and paranoid players when a another player/posse suddenly appears out of no where. I think it would escalate people getting shot.
-
I thought they did something over the weekend. I kept being put in lobbies with players 36 to 180. I rarely saw real low players. I would every now and than, but not often. My posse felt bad for this Level 6 player trying to solo a 3 bag mail run in Rhodes. So we posted up at the post office and shot anyone trying to steal his bags.
-
The Level 10 player with starter cards is weak argument. Sorry. We all were Level 1 at some point. I didn't start online day 1 like a lot of people. I was a few weeks behind. Did anyone hold my hand ? No . If I couldn't take the heat, I would have left online. Bottom line is that everyone wants the game to be designed to suit them and their playstyle. Their own personal version of RDRO Utopia. Do I like bitch made griefers? No . I also don't have an entitled attitude thinking R* needs to cater the game just for me.
-
You will never stop griefing. Problem is a lot of people rather complain instead of fighting back. I do as much PVE activties (lost track how many missions I have run) as I do PVP. But I be damned if someone is going to ride by me and shoot me in the back without me putting a bullet through his head. Standing up for yourself isn't hard, I fail to understand why people don't even try. If you can shoot a deer, why can't you shoot some barefoot clown with no shirt and overalls trying to kill you??
-
Exactly. I hunt to replenish big game meat . I hunt pigs for the fat for my explosive ammo. So those PVE activities for me is to re up supplies. Not like you can buy these items. I'm so tired of killing pigs for damn fat. Some people hunt and fish for pleasure, others like me do it to re up on key supplies.

I think the issue has to do with a lot of people being part of several permanent posses. I am part of at least 5+ myself. That seems to jam things up and a lot of time causes issues. People forget to "abandon" a previous posse they ran with, etc. A lot of times I keep sending them invites and they can't accept them. So that is why I open it. I usually use the in game chate vs PS party chat. I usually keep it on "Friends" so that I can talk to them to try to resolve issue.

What is the actual penalty for people griefing?

We are seeing the big groups more and more. A lot are off of Discord I'm guessing. They send their little scouts to servers to survey stuff or pick fights. Next you hear some clown saying in chat , " This is our town!! Get out or get owned!" or they call Posse's out by name. I don't mind the PVP and with these clowns focused on us, other players don't have to deal with them. They can go about their business in peace. -
I agree. And every weapon can be countered. So it you have the proper Ability Card set up, you can frustrate the hell out of a Varmit spammer. Slippery Bastard is also a friend of mine. Lancaster locks on faster than Litchfield. Its funny , cause I loved Litchfield in story mode but Lancaster in online. I even put a scope on my Lancaster. The Bolt is fun and it is a headshot magnet. Just make sure you count your shots so you don't get jammed up in a long reload animation. Springfield with Express rounds is nice as well. So when players are flopping around like Muddy Mud Skipper, 2 body shots will do the trick.

I know there are the exceptions. My posse willing took an invite from a griefer to another server only to be faced with fighting the whole server. Nothing like spawning in to just a massive conglomerate of players. Craziness. But I loved every minute of it. We knew it was a setup but came in hot and took over the server. After they fled, we started running missions on their server. Lol. I roll pretty deep, but I do see members of large groups starting some nonsense they can't finish. Then they run to Daddy Posse Leader to bring in the reserves. Pathetic. These losers can't take an "L". It breaks their little brains. -

Most are garbage . You should have seen his pink dot move away from the scene of the crime. 90% of the people that grief me are not "gunslingers", they are just morons trying to catch you slipping. Which is why I don't view them as a threat. I always like it when you destroy one of these clowns and he starts calling in back up. I just clean my gun and smile. But I wasn't the greatest starting out. I got shot a lot in the beginning. But I realized I had a choice to make. I had to either "Adapt or Perish". I am fine with that . I am not asking for an easy button. -
It is all player preference. I have seen some players put in work with a Springfield in a gun battle. Springfield paired up Winning Streak and Focus fire is deadly. Especially if you aren't good with headshots. I prefer the Bolt myself but if I am playing more passive/defensive, I will use the Springfield. I try to play with all the weapons and not just one(ie Varmit only users). I prefer Springfield for hunting too.

I had a player shoot me in the back when I was trying to open a treasure map yesterday. When I re spawned, I found him (cause you know he ran of course). He parlayed me seconds later. I was feeling petty and irritated , so he parleyed me a second time than left the server. Always find it funny when a wannabe troll parleys me. It is humorous that a guy who was trying to start something now wants to throw in the towel.
