If you have Amazon Music, Alexa will play, "Surly Joe". My kids LOVE it.

Things you enjoy that most people seem not to?

Carribean Jerk wing sauce from BW3 slathered on a tray of fresh baked brownies. -
It really comes down to opportunity for me. When I spawn in, I get shot in the head by some try-hard with a Varmit Rifle within about twenty seconds while I orient myself about half the time. If I have time, I whistle over my horse and take off for the largest gap in the player blips on my mini map until I get some distance to plot my next move. More often than not, I spawn into firefights if I just enter free roam, and even when I select region-specific entries, R* tends to put me into a game that's densely populated when I spawn (probably by design). IMO, it's more than a bit ridiculous to have people wait to load, spawn, and then spend ten minutes riding across the map for some peace and quiet, or attempting to do a mission.

I was riding in a river yesterday near Annesburg when the cougar in the area spawned. Man was he salty when he couldn't get to me. A nice little shot to the head netted me that 3* pelt, which was nice, but the ride back to an actual butcher was definitely not.

Profanity filter workaround
BropolloCreed79 replied to LastUnicorn's question in Questions & Answers
They're most likely using multi-lingual Boolean modifiers to scan for inappropriate names. If what you're saying is accurate (the limitations of my Espanol are "Donde esta el bano" and "Un cerveza, por favor"), then the double whammy of the "marica" and the "rica" being slang for "sexy" probably got it on the list. I imagine anything with "sex" or a derivation of it will be flagged in English. Which is hilarious for an "M" rated game, but whatever floats their proverbial boat. I had a great name picked out for my horse, but the profanity filter picked it up right away. -
There used to be something, somewhere on the forum that oulines it, bit I can't find it at the moment.

Really Need Be Able To Keep Pelts/Hides Stowed On Horse
BropolloCreed79 replied to KylesDad7's topic in Red Dead Online
No problem. I did that for about ten minutes last night to fatten my wallet before I was disconnected (again) after buying a rifle for hunting and slapping a scope on it. Short of fishing and buying a lure, it's probably the best bet if there's nobody around Valentine. Sure, you take a minor hit to honor for "Slaughter" but I'm willing to trade that for the ease and convenience. -
And you know that will happen. There's specific buildings in each town that match that description. Heck, the one in Strawberry has ads all over it.

I have to think that, eventually, they'll roll out more camp features that will have it function more like it does in story mode.

Really Need Be Able To Keep Pelts/Hides Stowed On Horse
BropolloCreed79 replied to KylesDad7's topic in Red Dead Online
One more: You can rope and stab the sheep in the pens in Valentine. Each carcass is perfect and goes for $3.50--there's often a LOT of them, and if you operate at night, there's nobody around to see you do it. You can literally make $3.50/minute, which is about how long it takes to stab, store, and get to the Butcher. -

It's ridiculous. I disconnected more than half a dozen times in an hour of attempting to play free roam last night. I've tried everything from port forwarding to hard lining directly into the modem and cutting out the router. Nothing works. This is the only game this happens to me on, when Gun Media's Friday the 13th: The Game has a more reliable connection to it's dedicated servers than R*, when I can play the Division for four or five hours on a weekend with ZERO disconnects, the issue lies with R*. Not with my ISP, not with my home network, not with anything I have any control over. For the folks who enjoy the online game with little or no connectivity disruptions, I'm happy for you. The few times I've been able to play the game for more than twenty or thirty minutes online without a D/C have been amazing. But when I load up my horse from a hunting trip, only to disconnect before getting to town, it's an issue for me (and countless others). Now, I'm out the ammo (which you have to pay for and grind), the carcasses, and the time spent--with nothing to show for it except some meat in my satchel when I respawn. I'm not asking to be made whole, I just want an explanation from R*. The silence and stonewalling, coupled with the always prevalent "it's a beta" excuses have worn thin. They know it's an issue, just admit it and tell us what you're doing to investigate/address the issue. If they can't fix this issue in a few weeks, I'm out. Done. I'll finish the story mode and trade the game in for max value (still trading for over $30 at most retailers) before Anthem and The Divison 2 drop in the next few weeks. Not everyone has 5-8 hours a day to play the game. I'm lucky if I can squeeze in 45 minutes to an hour and a half every couple of days, so my patience is somewhat thin when I can't get an online session to last as long as it takes to cook a frozen pizza in the oven. I'm frustrated beyond belief right now. Last night was so arduously torturous with all the disconnects that I find it inexcusable for them to sit there and act like it's not anything to do with their end. Edit: The most telling thing? I've never, not once, been able to fire up my ps4 and log into Free Roam without disconnecting before getting into a server. I always have at least one disconnect before a successful attempt.

I'm literally frothing at the mouth over that game.

I try not to buy things I can make at home. The upshot is, as a taller person, I can make things that work for my frame instead of buying off the shelf, and I can get it to look exactly how I want it to right out of the gate. Wood is surprisingly easy to use as a construction material with minimal training, and is very forgiving with a little bit of patience, trial and error. I actually built my own chair to sit in for gaming out of a wooden ceiling beam scrap leftover from when my folks had an addition put on their house 20+ years ago that was just lying around. Stain and poly with 1/2" black steel pipe fittings to make the arms, legs, and back all fit me comfortably. Built in a lumbar support with the pipe and some U-joints, and padded the arm and back rests with pipe insulation that was then covered with custom made covers that have Velcro seams so they can be washed as needed. Spray paint the pipe fittings and flanges with matte black finish and then secure them to the wood with screws, and I have a heavy duty chair ready to go. I've built tons of stuff for my house, storage lockers, coffee tables, and more. A desk, depending on the design and utility you are looking for, would be a fairly straightforward project. If you have the means and access to tools, you could probably build a decent computer desk for $50-$100 in lumber and hardware (stain, wood glue, screws, etc...). Depending on your level of comfort attempting something like that, a few hours of planning will go a long way to making something you'll take a lot of pride in.

Where's the BIG money?? (Story mode)
BropolloCreed79 replied to Cokeyskunk's question in Questions & Answers
It may ruin the pelt completely. A field test on a regular animal may be in order first. I usually use my dynamite arrows on clusters of enemies (especially ones on horseback) so I can't be certain how well that would work. -
You'll have to repost that. I can't see it.

It's really the ultimate troll move, and R* is aiding and abetting it. When you enter the cutscene, your character exits the map, but his or her silhouette stays. People can literally camp it until you come back, and then put one in your melon before you have a chance to move. It happens to me every time I do a "bring me a boat/wagon/horse mission that other people are encouraged to attack you at. They stay out of range until you enter the cut scene then pounce like single ladies when the bouquet is tossed at a wedding reception. -
Weaponized toxic masculinity? I don't know how to feel about that.
-
Oh, so you're married, too?

That's the most R* thing ever. "Oh, you want to farm nuggets? To maximize your mission payout, then, you'll have to sit there for fifteen minutes instead of finishing it in five, like a normal person." Seriously, the model is built to keep folks from farming gold so that they spend money because they're impatient. To quote Michael Scott: "You have no idea how high I can fly". I will go grab a beer, browse Reddit, or otherwise fill my time while that timer ticks down. R* won't see a dime from me until the online goes Gold (exiting beta) or they fully guarantee that all progress/purchases with Gold won't be rolled back AND any cosmetics purchased are account-bound instead of character bound. When I buy things with gold online, like hats or assless chaps, I shouldn't lose them if I restart my progress/character.
