Well as I suspected all this time, the reward for a 28 day daily challenge streak is 1 measly treasure map as a one-off. ๐กI had hoped given that R* seem to have reduced the chances of looting treasure maps that they were compensating for them being more plentiful from other means such as keeping the streak going beyond 28 days but it seems not. The streak hasn't even reset so I don't know if I get another in 28 days or if that's it. The gold bonus keeps going which is great and all but that treasure map buckle looks pretty unobtainable in the foreseeable. Oh well, I'll write it off with the travel by canoe and majority of the competitive buckles I guess.

I can't believe nobody has set up a black market for recipe pamphlets in the world of red dead - the fences charge obscene amounts of money for these things and the recipes are ridiculously simple. How do they get away with it? A piece of paper telling me to take a knife to the tips of my bullets to make split points in exchange for more than 100 platinum pocket watches!!

6/7/19 Benefits For PS4 Red Dead Online Players Announced
CosmoKramer replied to Moosh89's topic in Red Dead Online
R* have always favoured Playstation as have Naughty Dog, which is part of the reason I've stuck with Sony from PS1 to PS4 and gave up on Xbox after the 360. If you bought the wrong console don't cry about it now, especially not over a few treasure maps. @Kean_1 RDO is only easier to save for everything you want than GTAO because R* haven't yet introduced the ridiculous priced content. Pre-heists update on GTAO I had so much money I was wasting it on useless sh*t like the milijet. How I regretted that when they brought out actual useful vehicles! Also don't you remember how all the original cars were several $100k with the Adder being top dog at about $1m but then all DLC cars after that were about $8m each?! I won't be surprised if RDO goes the same way... -
Nice, Easy, Calm Way To Gain XP, Buckle, & Nuggets

I miss dynamite fishing since I completed that award. ๐ช Still, when the rooster daily challenge comes up it gives me an excuse to lob dynamite into the chicken pens again. ๐ -

I got the split point ammo pamphlet early on as I thought it would be a great way to get the crafting and collect from lockbox awards. Sadly it didn't quite work out as the crafting was bugged until the spring update and collecting ammo from the lockbox counts by packs rather than individual bullets. ๐ก I collect everything I can from the lockbox rather than a post office and order provisions I don't even need to tick off the purchase consumables award and help out with the lockbox award. -
funny story about looting bodies online
CosmoKramer replied to deadairface's topic in Red Dead Online
This was my calling card in story mode and when I started playing online. Or tossing them to the bottom of a nearby ravine. ๐ Speaking of funny stories, I had some nutcase challenge me over a pronghorn kill the other day - you read that right, a fecking pronghorn! How many are there of these bloody things in the game?? Anyway, after realising I was in defensive mode and he couldn't auto-target me he decided to throw a fire bottle at me. His plan backfired however and next thing I knew his horse was bolting with his flaming body on its back. Karma exists in red dead online! -
funny story about looting bodies online
CosmoKramer replied to deadairface's topic in Red Dead Online
Hmm, not sure about that theory unless it came with the Spring update as I've ballsed up hideouts before, dying so most bodies despawn and yet still ended up looting a treasure map. Would be surprised if its anything more than just a random generator. -
pvp mode, gold payouts, and the bonus gold multiplier
CosmoKramer replied to lumper's topic in Red Dead Online
Just to be clear, had you already completed the missions before this week tho? Is it possible to just select those missions from the replay menu and get the bonuses? -
Yeah I used to curse finding small alligators, now I want all alligators to be small!

Gritty Fish (Potent Predator Bait)
CosmoKramer replied to HairyWelshman78's topic in Red Dead Online
I totally forgot until the other day when I was doing the succulent fish recipe daily challenge. Couldn't believe I'd never cooked fish in online so assumed they'd added it in the last update! -
I thought the cougar glitch was fixed a while back? Surely it should be easy though for R* to identify anyone making unrealistically quick money which must be via an exploit like this and dish out bans or character resets?

You've been pretty unlucky I'd say although my numbers still aren't great. I've done 197 hideouts and have picked up about 20 treasure maps I think (if I'm correctly discounting the number received from ranking up). Probably about a third of the hideouts I've done have been co-op so maps may have been picked up by another player. I've had times where I've picked up several within a week but I'm currently on a streak of not having found one for ages. Looting every body you can seems to be the only real tip but then I've had hideouts where I've cocked up and died and had most of the bodies despawn and still picked up a map off the last body I looted. So its all luck I think but to give yourself the absolute best chance (which still seems to be tiny), clear the hideouts solo and take the time to loot all the bodies available. Conventional wisdom was to not kill the leader until you loot all the bodies so they don't despawn but I'm not sure that's an issue since the update last week.

Do You Think Multiple Characters Will Be Allowed At Some Point?
CosmoKramer replied to KylesDad7's topic in Red Dead Online
If they do it a-la GTA though you'll have to start the new character from scratch. For that reason I never really used my 2nd character in GTAO. Would be nice to have the option though. -
As was the case with single player, some of the stats/awards don't tally correctly with in-game but generally its pretty good. You can also view the stats of your friends/posse members. You just aren't able to see their cash/gold holdings.
-
Nice - you can buy stuff from the catalogue while offline from the game.

Horse plague issue appears to be fixed as of about 2 hours ago.

How about no animals or NPCs in the whole free roam world because thereโs a massive pile of burnt dead horses outside valentine station? Go on a mission (Stranger or Story) and the world is normal but back into FR and same thing happens. Repeatedly and even after changing servers or reloading the game,

I have all the repeaters but favour the Lancaster. There doesn't seem to be much between them in stats, the Lancaster just edges the Evans on damage and accuracy which suits me. In PvP though I could imagine the better fire rate and ammo capacity of the Evans being more important. I think R* have balanced all the weapons really well, so long as you are aware of the strengths and weaknesses of what you're running with you can do well against anything you're up against. There is no outright best weapon for everyone or every situation, which makes a refreshing change.

Last saddle unlock is 96 I think (currently trying to get there myself to see if its a cash or gold purchase) but I understand your "7 left" regards lvl 100 being the last official rank for unlocks. For me the grind will still be on as long as they're awarding gold for each rank increase. Anyone know why special saddles don't appear in the rank unlocks menu? Strange they went to the trouble of putting that feature in but then didn't bother populating it properly.

Game Informer Interview paints a dark future
CosmoKramer replied to HuDawg's topic in Red Dead Online
Have to agree with HuDawg to an extent here - I do believe the playing style function will be abused and possibly to a game-killing extent when people get bored of the content. I had the first sign of it yesterday when a player came to the hideout I was clearing and started looting bodies. Sure, if I'm close to him I can blow him away with shotgun but I'm defensive (and he can see that) so from a distance I've got to try and sort him in free-aim with enemies still shooting me. HuDawg's examples were intentionally extreme to make a point but if something can be done in an online game sure as hell some idiot out there will do it, however ludicrous it might sound. Mark his words. -
It won't be 3Gb of new data - its 3Gb of changed data. Making 1 gameplay change will have an impact on various existing modules of the game so they all have to be recoded, repackaged and reinstalled. Plus there's a load of bug fixes R* are addressing in the update.
-
I got the $100 bonus even though I didn't play last week, I'm sure the 15 GB will turn up - these R* giveaways are rarely an exact science but you get them at some point. Didn't play much yesterday but did check a few things out. They have fixed the award not resetting bug I had with selling products to the butcher, big ๐to that. Animals seem much more plentiful and carcasses don't despawn nearly as quickly (birds seem to stay for ages!). Initially I thought small alligator skins were fixed but when I had a large one and a small one on the horse they both disappeared when I sold the first at the butcher so not entirely convinced on that. My first experience in defensive mode - I was sat on my horse in St Denis when a couple of guys tearing up the town came barreling around the corner on a wagon mowing me and my horse down. My horse died but I survived and after a moment of us all wondering what just happened and what action to take we all just walked off on our separate ways. Couldn't get the companion app working - said versions were incompatible. I did an update to the app but that didn't make a difference. Maybe I needed to restart the game? Anybody confirm they've had problems or otherwise since the update?

Its pretty much more trouble than its worth with carts - I have had success with it but in the time it took me I could have made as much money just hunting. As an experiment I did manage to transport and successfully sell half a dozen bison pelt in a wagon. Was fun working out a place to park the cart (1 of the bigger 4-wheel ones with 2 horses) to get the pelts into it and then again to get them out at Valentine but again in terms of profit/time it wasn't really worth it.
