  1. So I’ve always had the issue that the daily challenge counter doesn’t tally the herbs I pick correctly and I end up having to pick 7 or 8 to be credited with 5. It got better for a while but then returned with the update (like so many of these niggling issues). However, it’s reached a new level of ridiculousness now - for mushrooms I have to find 5 different spots for it to count. No matter how long I leave between picks in 1 spot, or whether I pick or have my horse do it, it only ever counts as 1 count for the challenge. On,y noticed so far that it’s a problem with mushrooms - Chantrelle the other day and Bay Bolete yesterday. Anybody elise experienced this same issue? edit: should have said the herb count in the satchel is correct, its only a problem with the challenge count.
  2. Hmm, glad I’ve been ignoring all manhunt invites so far then.
  3. Can’t help with a solution but yes I have been having a lot of the same trouble with Cripps and the camp since the update. I’m wondering if they’ve changed some of the logic because I haven’t seen the message that there aren’t any free sites in an area since the update, now it just ignores you and refuses to set camp but if you try a different area it works. I find the camp tends to disappear more readily when Cripps is out of supplies to work with - if he’s busy my camp generally stays put.
  4. Careful what you wish for - with all the new role-based challenges to do I’m pretty certain I’m going to be down some gold despite the compensation.
  5. My update file was only 156mb but is taking a long time to copy and install....
  6. It was no accident. Actually it was the biggest wind-up to throwing a punch I've ever seen my character do. Clearly his frustrations accurately mirrored my own.
  7. For me the radar is more about spatial awareness. The interactive map is clunky as hell to use and not helped by the fact it shares a button press with quick access to the progress menus that pops up everytime you do anything like find a collectible.
  8. It kept rearing up at the hideout not letting me get on it. My fault for using the Arabian I suppose but it seems to have got way worse at being scared of its own shadow since the update. Gonna switch back to the MFT or one of the new horses to get a break from it I think. We're no longer on very good terms after I punched it in the face twice yesterday - it didn't even kick me back. I have to wonder about the citizens of Red Dead - I get reported for animal cruelty for killing a wild turkey but nobody bats an eyelid when I punch my horse in the face on the main drag in Valentine.
  9. Radar compensates for the absence of sensory inputs that you would have if you were really in that environment, it isn't about realism for a game set in the late 1800s - its the fact its a videogame. I'm firmly in the pro-radar camp for free roam. That said, I can understand the frustration that it's allowed in certain game modes and agree that those modes would be enhanced by preventing all players having radar. I don't understand R*'s reluctance in offering opt-in free-aim and no-radar servers or game modes.
  10. Yeah, the xp is specific for all roles but trader seems to give more for doing less (fewer missions) than BH and collector just ranks up as you move around the world and stumble upon things while doing other tasks. I did wonder about the timer with BH (and other role missions) and I have started taking the bounties to a cop-shop near where I want to be rather than the nearest one it comes up with to help with that. The 680 xp bounty did take a long time as I had to chase him across half the map after my horse was being a di*k.
  11. Level 19?! 😮 Good effort! Does progress speed up like the other roles when you get to higher levels? Yesterday I got about 680 xp for 1 bounty and thought great, things are starting to get somewhere but then next bounty I only got 300 xp (both delivered alive). Seems like quite a grind to level up BH but I guess at least it gives me something to work towards in the game.
  12. What level BH are you? I only just unlocked the $$ bounties. Progress is so slow in the Bounty Hunter role. But its too fast in the other roles imo.
  13. I have had the dog lead me to a spot I need to dig, don’t know if that can happen when you haven’t got the shovel but might explain why there doesn’t seem to be anything at the location for some people.
  14. Already maxed out Trader (levels up really fast through the later levels) so not fussed about the xp, materials/supplies would be all I'd be interested in. Salvage was really confusing the first time, especially as I didn't know players couldn't shoot each other so I spent the first few minutes just trying to avoid other people. Got a bit of an idea of it though as it went on and came 5th in the end - not too shabby. Wasn't sure if the metal detector could be used or not - it seemed to be working but as soon as I equipped it a load of NPCs would turn up and start shooting at me.
  15. Its great that R* listened to the community and brought us the hunting wagon but having had it for a few days I just feel they've somehow squeezed all the fun out of it and its going to end up in the stable gathering dust, unused. The Good - If you crash the wagon because some dopey NPC won't move off the path (or you have to quit the game or get disconnected) you don't lose what you have stored on the wagon - Haven't confirmed this but I was struggling to find positives so I'm gonna put it out there - carcasses don't decompose as quickly as they do on your horse?? The Bad - Capacity - 3 large carcasses and 4 medium carcasses is pathetic for the size of wagon. When I was stealing wagons before the update and loading them up with goods on a hunt I was getting at least 6 large animals in the wagon, no problem. I was hoping the medium carcasses would hang off the sides like they hang off your horse (4-5 each side?) saving some space but I presume the saving of what cargo you have prevented this from being implemented. - Kept in Stable - if you want to use it you have to make it your only mode of transport i.e. your horse has to be stabled. This presents several issues:- You can't store guns on your wagon so you only have whatever weapons you had active when you entered the stable Any carcasses stored on your horse when you entered the stable aren't transferred to the wagon like if you changed horses (although they remain on the horse when you pick it back up from the stable). You can't call your wagon so if you get separated from it, you're walking. - Can't put supply bags in it - If you do a resupply mission with it (because its a long way from camp to stable to change over to a horse) and you get there and its a bag not a wagon you can't put it in your hunting wagon. So you have to complete the mission on foot. And when you complete the mission you either have a long walk back to the wagon or to the stable. - Discarding animals - if you load the wagon with carcasses and then find better ones you have to discard the original carcass to load the new one. No option to skin the animal you're replacing as you would be able to do with your horse. - Upgrades (or rather lack thereof) - things may change but I assumed there would be options for upgrades not just insurance. I thought the better horses available from ranking up trader would be used to haul your wagon making it faster and more responsive for instance. I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch of stuff I found with it but I already haven't used it since Saturday. What are anyone else's thoughts?
  16. I tried again earlier and I still get the same problem with it. The salvage event worked ok for me though and sounds just like what you describe so not sure I'm really missing out on much. I don't really need an event to stock Cripps up on materials. Will only be a (minor) problem if it comes up as a daily challenge.
  17. Made me laugh as my brother is always bitching that it’s nighttime! It does feel that way sometimes but the clock cycles through the day/night in a timed and predictable manner. I’ve never checked it but GTA online days I think were 48 minutes and consistent across all servers, I’d imagine RDO to be about the same, so it depends what real time you log in as to whether it will be day or night. I try to plan around it, night is good for some activities - I find eagle eye works better at night so it’s a good time to do collector or hunt certain animals. The fog can be frustrating if you’re hunting or doing certain activities but I love the weather effects in the game - really sets it apart from most. Wildlife can be a bit sparse but at the moment I think that’s because the servers are really busy and most people are doing trader activities. I concede that doesn’t explain why there are suddenly loads of animals when you start a timed mission though. Most of the missions I have time to stop and take down some 3* animals if I need them. if you log out of the game and then log back in using “Free Roam” option you should start roughly where you logged out. I always use the Story menu option to quit from the game rather than just turning off the machine but I’m not sure if that matters. If this is not working right for you then you should report a bug to R*. Persevere and enjoy the game in its semi-realistic state before R* ruins it with mechanical flying horses packing heat seeking missiles when they run out of Wild West authentic ideas.
  18. My flag issue seems to have been resolved in the past day or so - not noticed it being lowered except when doing trader missions and it does raise back up after.
  19. Collector is quite a passive activity - I’ve not spent much time actively trying to rank up but it’s my second highest role. You just find stuff as you travel the map doing other things. Bounty hunter seems the most repetitive, early on anyway. I quite like it but it’s the role I’m least progressed in because I have to make myself go and pick up bounty posters. Doesn’t help that you see the same bounties all the time - I delivered the witch then went to another board and she was on there again, 5 minutes later. Would like to see more correlation between their crimes and the difficulty/type of mission and the reward - all seems a bit rinse-and-repeat. With Trader you’re always getting prompted by Cripps to do stuff and it’s the role I most wanted to oreogress to unlock the new gear.
  20. Report it to R*. I did actually get the 50gb compensation Moosh mentioned for this bug yesterday. Not sure if that covers what I’m missing out on, especially given the extra dailies there are now, but it’s something.
  21. Not sure about the changes to Defensive mode. It’s great that finally it remembers your preference when you load the game but less great that it’s constantly changing your status while you’re playing. Earlier on I realised I was Offensive but when I went to change it said defensive disabled due to aggressive gameplay. I’d just cleared some NPCs in Thieves Landing doing a trader delivery!?! Offensive/Defensive only affects your interactions with other players so shouldn’t it only be influenced by your PvP actions?? I also keep finding my camp flag in lowered status - fair enough if it has to be lowered to do certain missions but it should revert to its preferred state once the mission is over.
  22. Attempted it twice. Both times it’s done the event start screen with the photo pose of your character and then gone straight to the end screen with results 0 kills. And then I get dumped out in New Austin. Anyone else?
  23. Disconnected due to a fault on Rockstar game services (Error:0x20010006). Unable to connect to Rockstar games services (Error:0x99350000) Funny how in a period of several hours of gameplay the disconnect occurs when the horse cargo is at its most valuable...
  24. I've only seen $ reward bounties so far - thought you had to be a higher rank to see $$ & $$$? Catch-22!! Bounty Hunter is slow going compared to the others but I hadn't noticed not getting any XP. Do you maybe get the XP at the time of the capture and gold/cash at the drop-off? Just a thought. Next time I do one I'll pay closer attention.
  25. With so many of the old patched bugs rearing their ugly heads in this update it does make me wonder which version of the game they used as a baseline for this release. Starting to think it was the original Nov-18 version! Managed to play last night without any disconnects (maybe I never had enough pelts on my horse 😉) but still encountered a lot of bugs. Tried the Trade Route event for the first time - that was a total bust!!
