YodaMan 3D
So I tried to track this beast this weekend. After many hours, it spawned only twice and both times it was be attacked by wolves. I used dead and killed the wolves, but by the time I the animation from dead eye cleared up. The horse was gone. I could see tracks in the snow, but at some point they would just stop. I tried to use the Hunter's Vision there was no trace of the horse's path. It just disappeared both times. Is there a trick, that I am not getting? Jackthestripper
I too spent hours trying to get to this horse. I found that if I left the area for a couple of days (in game time) that it would respawn. However, I can only come a certain distance away and it bolts on me anyhow, no matter how slow I walk. I tried crouching too, and even then, I couldn't get even close without it taking off on me. And I as well, followed the tracks that led to nowhere. I am on Chapter 6 now, so I won't bother anymore until I start a new campaign.

The first time I tried I failed but that was due to my inability to break the horse (I didn't realise you had to push down on the L stick) and it disappeared. Once I came back a few days later it respawned and I managed it. On my second play through now and I got it on first attempt. It should re-spawn after a few days. 12 minutes ago, Jackthestripper said: I too spent hours trying to get to this horse. rick249kdr
Once it's gone from the Lake Isabella area you won't find it again until you completely leave the area and sleep a few times or do a mission or two. I'd try going far enough south where the snow is gone. When you come back she'll be there waiting. The trick to getting close is making sure she's calm. Once you're able to "lock on" to her with L2/LT don't let go. You'll get the "calm" option along with a spook bar at the bottom of the screen. Your controller will also vibrate more intensely when she's about to take off. Three tips; Press the calm button every single time you're able to. When she starts to freak (controller vibrating), stop moving until you're able to calm her. Make sure your hands are empty, don't even think about trying to use your lasso. Just keep inching closer and closer (no need to crouch) and before you know it, you'll be able to hop on and break that bitch. Don't be upset if she jumps in the lake, just have to try again. X S
Basically what Rick said. I just button mashed the calm button. Crouch slowly while continuing to calm it. Then start patting it heavily when close enough. You won't even need to lasso it. Once it seems calm enough, mount it. It shouldn't even resist.

He bolts if I get within 125 yards of him.
Poggy
I just slowly crept (literally inch at a time) - every time the controller started to vibrate I hit calm and waited, then inche again, rinse and repeat. Took about ten minutes to get close enough to pat.
fotorico
I gave up on the creeping up and calming method after a while and just chased it on horseback and used the lasso to capture it, that worked really quickly.

I think this is the biggest problem people are having with this game. Things take A LOT of patience. IF you rush things, you'll just get frustrated. Stay patient and take it slow, you get what you want much more easily.
YodaMan 3D
Patience is one thing, it being saved from wolves and then just disappear is another. More of annoyance if anything. I can't catch it with wolves around and that happened the only 2 times I saw it. It was gone before as soon as I dealt with them, which took no time at all, just the stupid dead eye animation and poof! gone.

First few encounters (after literally HOURS) the ****er jumped me before I could even react. I circled the only 2 areas it can spawn multiple times, switching between the 2 every few in game days. I know exactly how it goes lol I haven't tried this (I don't really bother with the horses), but maybe try dropping some herbivore bait in the area and post up somewhere. Try letting it come to you. That's what finally got me that panther.
Kormath
I tried to lasso it, drug me around a bit twice. So then i tried the walk slow and calm it approach. Don't mash your X button (on xbox) to calm it, you'll end up jumping toward it and make it run off, did that twice It does take a few minutes doing the slow approach, but i think that's more fun that lasso it and be done with it. It's easy to track. leaves a big trail in the snow, when the trail ends just look around in tracking mode and look for the glowing horse. For me it was never far from where the tracks ended. I never saw a wolf attack it, first time i saw it i was running through the area to go fish for the legendary there. I didn't even know there was a legendary horse there at the time. Wolves were near it but never bothered it. I spooked the horse and the wolves chased me. Found that wolves will leave whatever they're chasing alone if they spot you, and come after you. Had this happen numerous times while hunting them for the perfect hides/carcass.
Saltyballs
The following spoiler should only be read if you don't want part of the ending spoiled, but please I have a question about this horse post game. Spoiler I caught the Arabian white early on in chapter 1 and it died in the cutscene (that was a shock), I've purchased the third available Arabian but I'm wandering if it's possible to return to the lake and catch a second one, is it?

Stallionsden
I just shot it lol (save prior to attempting) and do not kill it 1 shot in a non viral area wait til it drops then revive it lol then hop on.

It is GONE. No where to be found. Disappeared. Zilch. No be there. Totally not on the map. I haven't seen it since. Been up there a dozen times since I saw last and it just won't appear. Yet the wolves dead carcasses are still there and it has been over 2 weeks in the game since I saw it last. I am getting to the point where it is just simply ticking me off. My son showed me a video of some kid who rode up to it and jumped from his horse to it, broke it in a few seconds and rode it back to town. Occassionally just keep going back to the same spot you first saw it. Also travel in some area around that spot to it be there. It is also hard to see and blends in. Took me 12 attempts lol losing it 11 times. Well as per my previous reply we know what happenned on the 12th attempt lol

The first time I went after the Coyote, I chased it out of the zone, and a little message popped up that said "The animal has been chased from this area and will not return for some time". I had to spend the night at a hotel and try again the next day. Great success. Maybe the Arabian is different, but there's definitely nothing more frustrating than missing out on something like that and not finding another opportunity. Poggy
Spoiler Annoying - so I might as well as spend everything beforehand and buy junk. I assume clothes, valuables, documents, guns and items (like gold bars and talismans) don't go? And I guess I shouldn't have bothered stabling that white Arabian - at least I can get another, I guess.

I've had to do that a time or 2 to clear dead animals that wouldn't despawn. Had a dead cougar just below the trapper up near Lake Owanjila for over a week game time. Couldn't find any others up there at all and the cougar wouldn't decay. A week on the ground and i could still pick it up and move it around. Quitting and restarting fixed that. next day in game the cougar was decayed and couldn't use, day later it was gone and i got my 3rd of 5 that night near there. Firestormfan89
I'm glad I am not the only person to have seen this majestic creature. I got close enough to pay him and even mounted him but he threw me off and wouldn't let me get close a second time. I'll get him one day, gotta keep trying, but I know where to look for him again. He seems to appear by himself, but ditto on the wolves.

When i get home tonight i'll get a screen shot and upload it.
