I'm currently 53 or 54 and started day 1. Luckily I recently watched a YouTube which told me to wait for the timer to go down on stranger missions cos it ups the XP. I'd been doing them as quickly as I could prior to that, thinking it would go in my favour.

Excuse the dumb question but can somebody explain how this works/why? I've seen people sitting at the finish point with caravan wagons and figured there was a reason, I didn't yet know of

Longer the job takes to complete, the more money and xp it pays out in the end.  So if you wait til the last few seconds, you will make more then if you rush through and complete it in just a few seconds.

Thanks for the info. That's so weird.

They really need to add more activities to do soon. Duels, gambling immediately come to mind. Crafting clothing/equipment as well.

They do and yet they need to deal with the issues that keep disrupting the game as well.  Bugs and glitches and cheats.  This last weekend, my son showed me a video, where a group of players went out to the middle of no where, and the lowest level player stood there and shot the others at point blank range in the head.  Claiming to be able to make 50k xp in an hour.  I have seen boosting in a game, but what exactly can Rockstar do to fix that?

This is more of an exploit than a boost. They use that specific area because it instantly spawns you in the same spot when you die, therefore you are able to execute each other almost non stop.

According to the stats in the 'player' section, I've been playing online for 140 hours (5 days, 20 hours), having started day 1, and am level 72.

As a rough and ready guide, that's about 2 hours on average every day since launch, and about 2 hours per level.

That's something they need to address.  I was in a group the other day that did this, where we wouldn't finish a mission and go hunting, shooting, etc.... based on the mission we were playing, and then load up on pelts/feathers for half an hour before finishing the mission for both $$ and XP.

If anything, the missions should reward speed and efficiency, and there should be diminishing returns for certain tiers of speed.  Why they have it set up the way they do is beyond me.

It's because the missions are easy and people, like my posse, can get deadly efficient and quick. We'd be banging out probably 20+ missions I'm less than an hour if it meant getting more money and exp. The more pay out with time is meant to slow is down, not for our sakes but because it benefits the company on how much time we waste in the game.

Something like that...

I fail to see the issue.  Efficiency and skill should be rewarded, not penalized.  It'd be one thing if people could be induced to purchase gold to "level up" quicker in a P2W scheme to unlock weapons, but literally the only reason to buy gold is for cosmetics; either with clothing or guns, so letting folks level efficiently though missions makes far more sense than having them just tool around for 20-30  minutes to max out XP and cash in a mission.  The missions, are far more entertaining than most of the content in free roam.  It'd be on thing if the enemy hideouts spawned more often, but since they don't they aren't.

Ya it makes no sense..

Same logic applies to co-op missions.

Co-op missions have 4 people..  all which use auto aim.  Its beyond boring due to everything dying in seconds...because of the auto aim.   And on top of that players are punished for breezing through missions.

R* logic seems to be.. Make the game simple with auto aim.. and then punish players for easily blowing through everything.

I would agree that rewards should be based on efficiency.  Now from a different point of view.  The old west and you want to slow things down, considering that many of the stranger missions require outside interference of other players, and it being a beta.  Maybe they intend to add things as the game goes so players don't just race through every mission.  In TD, you had players that was racing through missions in 4 minutes.  It was cool to see some players had it figured out, but if that is your big plan to entertain the PvE players.  Do you really want them doing missions that fast.  So you start giving them incentives to take their time.  Bad part is now you got people waiting 30 minutes and hunting or fishing or going to the bathroom while they wait.  If PvP gets thrown in to that mix, all of sudden surviving for 30 minutes becomes a lot tougher especially with only 2 lives to spare.

I fail to see the issue as well. But it's something I've seen a previous mmo I used to play do, except at least rockstar made it like this from the start (the other mmo would present an event or content, and then realize that the players are "too good" at it, then nerf the drops or make it so that people couldn't do it so fast and get more out of it).

You know there's gonna be some people, a lot of people probably, that will be willing to dish out $20 or $100 just to buy clothing. Cuz "you can't fight crime if you don't look good". And they don't want to wait for the rank. I have a couple friends who literally spend a couple hours at the tailor every few days making new outfits, it's crazy (I personally don't, picked an outfit out a month ago and stuck with it).

Literally read that in Will Arnett's "Lego Batman" voice.

I will admit to restarting my online character about four or five times for the right facial look, and spending some of the free gold R* provided for the "shirtless with black overalls and flat cap" look that I was going for (he looks like an 1890's meth head but with better teeth).  But the only thing I ever shop for now is the occasional resupply or a new weapon.

Speaking of new weapons, would it kill R* to add in some more melee weapon variety?  I would love to use a shovel, myself.

That is a very attractive look that I've seen on some characters. I got ganged up on by 4 dudes in that style and I couldn't even get mad at it lol.

I did spend like 30 minutes on character creation, I'm still not completely satisfied, but it'll do. My current favorite is the light blue paisely vest (i had arthur wearing it most of the storymode so it's mostly sentimental), white rolled up sleeves shirt, black bandana, the ultimate edition gunslinger hat (black with a feather, really need that trapper to come into the game maaaan), fitted jeans, some boots i can't remember what they are, but they look more feminine.

And I mean I thought we had a bunch of melee weapons as it is. But yeah I would like to see some non blade melee weapons though, ngl. And to be able to set traps other than dynamite. Fightin tactics right up my alley right there.

Just hit level 50. I don't play as much as I would like to. Partly because of my schedule (work) and partly because it is still in beta and pisses me off sometimes lol
