RED DEAD ONLINE BETA: SPOILS OF WAR OUT NOWNEW SHOWDOWN MODE PLUS LIMITED TIME CLOTHING ADDED TO THE CATALOGUE

66a9205b2539cba2cd7c843a54841a9cf9d75a74

As we continue to add to and evolve the Red Dead Online Beta, we will keep expanding on and improving our Showdown Series. These player vs. player modes are tight, dramatic competitive matches that allow for quick structured gameplay sessions as well as being a great way to complete combat-based Daily Challenges. This week's new addition to the Series is Spoils of War - a frontier take on capture-style multiplayer. You can launch this new mode using the Featured Series tile in the Red Dead Online Beta launch menu, via the Quick Join option in the Player Menu or by navigating to the Featured Series signpost on the map.

In Spoils of War, 2-16 players compete in this team-based mode to defend their stockpile and raid each other’s. Each team must steal loot from their opponent's base and return it to theirs, while defending their own stash. Whichever team steals the most by the end of the match wins. You can take on this new Showdown mode across a variety of locations including Fort Mercer and Valentine.

As added benefits this week, you’ll get a 20% XP boost on all Showdown Modes and winning one Spoils of War match will earn you an extra bonus of 8x Dynamite Arrows that you can retrieve from the Post Office or your Camp Lockbox.

The Tasman Outfit

In its quest to offer the very latest and best in frontier supplies, the Wheeler, Rawson & Co Catalogue will be updated regularly as goods come and go. As you browse the Catalogue from week to week, select clothing from inbound shipments will be marked Coming Soon. When available, these same items will be marked as Limited Stock. If you see any items marked as Out of Stock, be sure to check back in future weeks as these items are sure to return again.

Starting today, sellers have received their first shipments of rare clothing that will only be available for a limited time. This week, look for a pair of new outfits as well as a few other garments and accessories:

  • The Tasman Outfit (Male only)
  • The Danube Outfit (Female only)
  • Tied Pants
  • Hitched Skirt (Female only)
  • Winter Shotgun Coat
  • Gardenia Hat
  • Squat Stovepipe Top Hat

As we progress through the Beta we will work to improve Catalogue functionality and organization, while adding new items with unique flair that will regularly rotate through the shops.

We’ve also made a few updates to the official Red Dead Online Beta Feedback website, where you can now leave us your thoughts on Spoils of War as well as general feedback on Controls via this page. As always, your feedback is appreciated and vital to helping us tune the Red Dead Online Beta as it grows and progresses.

Rockstar continues to expand Red Dead Online with weekly beta updates and today's release includes an all-new Showdown Series mode which allows players to fulfil their PVP needs without resorting to griefing in free roam.

Alongside the new mode, additional clothing items have been added to the game as well.

Spoils of War puts a slightly new spin on the traditional capture the flag rules. Two to sixteen players compete on a map with two stockpiles of supplies, with the goal being the theft of enemy supplies. You need to fight your way to the other stockpile, steal some of their stuff, and make it all the way back to your stockpile in order to add to your score. Meanwhile, you need to protect your base from the enemy players.

These PVP modes are a great way to complete any combat-related daily challenges you have, since trying to complete them in free roam would constitute griefing. Spoils of War is also a fun new way to rack up XP and gold.

This week players can benefit from a 20% XP boost which applies to all Showdown Series game modes, allowing you to level up much faster while taking part in structured PVP. There is added incentive to try out the newest mode too - all players who win a round of Spoils of War will be eligible for a free bonus of 8 explosive arrows, delivered to the post office or their camp.

A new selection of clothing has been added to the catalog as well, though the new arrivals will only be around for a limited time. The Tasman Outfit (Male Only), Danube Outfit (Female Only), Tied Pants, Hitched Skirt (Female Only), Winter Shotgun Coat, Gardenia Hat and Squat Stovepipe Top Hat are all available this week.

Players can expect the permanent stock of the in-game store to be expanded with upcoming updates as well, and the official Feedback platform has been updated with new content as well.

No fixes that I can tell, my horse bonding still resets. I KNOW it's resetting because I can"t use L3 to regenerate max stamina like you can at level 4 bonding, and I've also reached bonding level 2 again.

The new mode is cool but really nothing special, certainly not special enough to be dripfed.

The limited time clothing is painfully dumb. It's clearly there to make people impulse buy as nobody knows for sure when a particular item will come around again.

Really disappointed overall. They need to stop with these weak weekly updates and give us one good monthly update. Keep the 2xp weeks every few weeks at random.

I must say, i find the new game mode pretty entertaining. Just last night i leveled 3 progression bars. Earned alot of money, and with the 20% XP bonus, its a no brainer!

I second this ! I love ,love ,love , the new spoiles of war mode ! It's exactly what the game needed. Had such great fun in there last night got mvp twice in 5 matches. It's a win win !  Won 4 Out of 7 matches and am stoked to receive my 8 arrows. Haven't got em yet but look forward to them being in my locker. If you haven't tried it please do ! One more note ,if you can take your posse in with you do that ! Oh it's glorious !

I really think that this is the beginning of a great game.  Think about it a little and you can see R* signature all over the whole free roam thing.  Now they are starting to add some meat to those potatoes.  It will be a long haul I think but eventually it will be the money machine that gtao has been for them.

Patience is the answer here.  It took them 8 months or so after full release to start heists and to get the other lobbies running.  I will just keep checking back from time to time to see how it progresses but for now I think I will be taking a break from it to do some other new stuff that is out there.

Well... I guess this is something else you can have fun with but the issues most of us are having in the game continue which kind of hinders the enjoyment of the game. I keep taking breaks. I didn't even know there was another update till I spotted this thread. I suppose I will check it out later before bed.
