Approx. 30 hours logged since the update and it still hasn't effin popped for me... not once!! Haven't seen it since last Saturday.

Managed to rank 4th what was shock for me because i got like 12 Lb of Fish and the person winni g had almost 30. Then i saw that i had some extra points for not breaking the Line and a lot of fishes but small ones. Oh and one thing. The reward was good exp and moneywise. I bet 1st place gives good XP and bucks. CosmoKramer Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 I've only done river challenges so far which seem to be luck of the draw as to where on the river you spawn - one time I was where all the salmon were so absolutely killed the competition, the other times I've been scrabbling around for tiddlers and trying to compete with volume. There's not much you can do for placement as the locations normally span a waterfall. I've seen lake fishing pop once but didn't want to accept the invite at the time - I imagine that should be a more level playing field as you can move round the whole lake to take up whatever spot you want.

Mine was the lake spot. I did move around for a bit but spawned on somekind of a headland and didnt change much really.. Would like to see the river one as well.

I've been very unlucky. In the few challenges I've participated in so far, I've caught very few fish and I've been using the special spinner. I don't have this much trouble catching fish when I do it normally. 1

I spawned on an island, and during the challenge I noticed the front runner was killing it, 5+ lb fish every couple minutes. So after the challenge, I decided to look around the island and I found her honey hole. A shipwreck. How do I know it was the winners spot you ask. It was from the picture of her at the end. It showed her with a wooden structure behind her. Kinda helps to know the area it seems. 1

Then I am thinking it is the last cab off the rank when it comes to the rotation. Which means a player would have to stay online for at least 5 hours or longer. Not good. But then again it is what it is.

nshanny73 Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 Finally got it to pop... coincidentally it was this past Saturday... was the swamp version... and managed to pull out in 1st with relative ease... all those hours put in fishing certainly helped... would also recommend to @Vaderspupil to NOT use the special spinner for these events... use the specific lure depending on the body of water 1
Moosh89 Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 I wish I could actually catch something bigger than 1lb. but until they add an optional accessibility toggle that auto-reels by holding a button, I cannot fish in singleplayer (so long, 100% completion) or multiplayer. I've written in and was given the old "I've forwarded your suggestion to the developers for consideration" months ago. If it's not a thing by this "Spring update", I'll be writing in again. I got excited a few weeks ago when they released the "spinner lure" but alas, it did not do what I had hoped and isn't available in singleplayer either... Hopefully I'll be able to enjoy this free roam event sometime. I have yet to see it come up for me though 1

Recommend R* rename it the Fishing Lottery as it only takes place once a week, has a low chance of invitation, and is generally going to be won by the person who spawns in the luckiest spot.
