James Hickok_1837 Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 (edited) Yeah i get you there Lump. I get frustrated or bored with the game but i still love it and log in everyday. I just cant seem to focus on other games - i like rdr 2 too much. Atm im doing only daily quests and log off but i realised that i still have 10% to make in story mode and those tricky achievements to make for the "Best on the West" acheivement so after my daily routine ill pop back to story to have fun. Damn i forgot how "alive" the story mode is compared to online. The npc interactions lol. I take your advice and stack gold and rdo$ as well. Currently im on 330 gold bars and 3k $ (spent some on pamphlets coz i wanted them all. I always want it all ) I think gold will be more important then rdo$ after the update. why? I suspect R* will make new things to buy mostly on gold to grab money via shop. Impatient or new player's will be forced to buy gold generating profit. I bet the store in its current state is unprofitable bcoz most player base have nothing else to buy. We will see. Edited August 23, 2019 by James Hickok_1837

I think the reason we don't see this anymore is what genre would you like to see? Too many games have been made and it is hard to come out with a block buster IMHO
HuDawg Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 (edited) As far as the next update goes. They will release a fraction of it.. then drip feed the rest of the already installed update over the next few months. Which make zero sense, but R* started doing this in GTA O a few years ago and is now addicted to drip feeding. Theres also the question about how much of the new update will be locked behind some sort of grind wall that can be easily by passed with gold. Calling it now, some of the unlockables for the new jobs will require massive amounts of play time to be unlocked and they will monetize the ability to skip that grind. Assassin’s creed was a favorite of mine for a while. It’s what I love about the more recent GTA games.... there are infinite stories to be told in this series. As well as RDR. There’s a lot more stories to be told in the American west than Ductch and his issues....

There’s a lot more stories to be told in the American west than Ductch and his issues.... What other games have out tried already? There are still some good SP titles that tell a decent story out there on this generation of console. Days Gone was supposed to be pretty good once they tackled some of the big bugs. The Witcher 3 had a decent story but was loooooong. The original The Last of Us.....a game on rails but a really good story and really well made in that respect. Kingdom Come Deliverance was ok although it suffered from bugs which I'm sure are mostly squashed by now. ....one of the best and most challenging melee mechanics I've come across. Sword fighting is really cool and rewarding. You really feel like you are gaining experience along with your character but it's on the hardcore side of gaming in that way. Fallout 4 was good. I'm not really huge on story and I do like open world so games like GR Wildlands really appealed to me. I like tactical shooters and it had a main story you could unravel at your own pace. ......like the AC games. As for other Ubi games, Watch Dogs was kinda fun but Far Cry 5 killed the series for me. Just like they did after AC: Black Flag by going back to the same old boring format before BF with the next title.
The_Liquor Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 I stopped at black flag... it was fun, but it felt a lot like Sid meier’s pirates. Honestly, I haven’t tried much on the PS4 yet. I bought it specifically for RDR2. Though over this winter I’m sure I’ll be digging through the used bin at EB Games and the likes, whe I have time for games again lol.

I loved the mechanic and had hoped that they would have expanded on it in another iteration of the franchise. I guess it's reception is what helped give birth to Skull & Bones. ....but in Ubi fashion they'll drop the ball on that one too as I hear they decided that there would be no boarding party fights, etc. That's part of what made the raiding in Black Flag so fun IMO. Yeah, if you haven't played many game on PS4, there are a tone to choose from I think you would like. .....some I mentioned. Just depends on what exactly you're looking for.
lumper Posted August 26, 2019 Author Posted August 26, 2019 So today I had a thought. I have a weird feeling that we will get the character customization option a week before the summer update. I just have a feeling. I wonder if tomorrow we get the ability to re-do our character then the following week or two we get the actual update. Just a thought, but I do think it will happen, no point in putting everything in one update, they can break it up a little and still make everyone happy. We will see, but my call is we get the customization option before the update.

We are so close to the Summer Update that it simply make no sense to only release that enhancement but who knows. .....but I don't see any reason to release just that prior to the larger update. More than likely we will get another week of bonuses and such with additional news on the upcoming update with possibly a specific release date. .....that's my call. I do have a feeling that news may come sooner rather than later though so stay tuned to see if that might be tomorrow.
lumper Posted August 26, 2019 Author Posted August 26, 2019 Well I was thinking a week from Tuesday would be the update, but the character customization thing I think is separate from the actual summer update, which is why I think they will drop that first, we will have to wait and see, but that is my feeling on it. I just think, if it isnt ready tomorrow, then instead of nothing, we will get the character customization, that will appeal to a lot of people who have been wanting to do that, and keep everyone busy for one more week. Only time will tell.

I agree with ya 100% I too stil have the single player challenges to do, ugg not looking forward to those, some of them are very difficult. What ive been doing is playing GTAV, so I can get the 54 cards for rdr2 and the bounty missions to get the ancient tomahawk. I havent done either yet as I got into setting it all up, and now I go in, make a couple million in the casino then supply and staff my businesses then I go to RDR2 and do my daily challenges and clear any hideouts or whatever I run into. I think you are all set now, I have half the gold you have and I feel like it is enough. I think I am up to 170 bars, and 8800$ I was just thinking earlier about whether I think it will drop tomorrow and I just dont, I feel like we will get the character custom thing first then we will get the update, but who knows at this point.

Only time will tell. The following is all part of the "Summer Update" status / news: ADDITIONAL ENHANCEMENTS And in addition to these roles, the next update will also deliver a variety of new content and improvements aimed at enhancing all your experiences inside the world of Red Dead Online, whether within roles, competitive modes or simply exploring free roam. Substantial, across the board changes are being made to combat and movement to allow for a more responsive control system that still feels natural. Additional damage reduction to Defensive players is also on the horizon, and the game will now remember your preferred playing style (Offensive or Defensive) when you exit and relaunch the game. There will also be many more lootable items to be found throughout the world, like containers on wagons or the occasional Gold Tooth on an unfortunate soul. The next Red Dead Online update with also feature the ability to reset your character’s appearance and much, much more. Stay tuned for more details to come and check back for new weekly events in Red Dead Online. When they say the "next update", I think it's clear they are referring to the Summer Update. The excerpt above is a description of what is supposed to come in the Summer Update. These content drops seem to be settling into a seasonal schedule. The Spring update was mid May and the Summer Update seems set to release sometime before Fall begins (late-Sept). My guess is in the next week or two but that's just an assumption. 1
lumper Posted August 26, 2019 Author Posted August 26, 2019 They initially announced the character thing long before the summer update, some of us had clothing issues with our characters and when I spoke back and forth to R* back then they told me watch the newswire changes are coming. Thej it was announced I thought on its own at one point, but maybe I am just remembering that wrong. Later they announced the summer update and yes reading that sounds like they balled it all up into one update. Again, time will tell. I too was expecting it all to drop at once, then it hit me, they dont have to do that, and if they arent 100% with the summer update, I bet they drop the customization thing on its own. Im just guessing, and thinking so who knows, but if we dont get the update tomorrow, I just had this feeling like hmm I bet we get the character redo thing in its absence.
Kean_1 Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 Thing is, when they have to push an update it needs to go through an approval process that can take days. I think with Sony that can translate to about a week or so before an update can actually be dropped to the consumer. I don't think it's the same for server side updates on their end though. All I'm saying is that there is nothing indicating that they will release an additional small update let alone specifically that feature so soon before the Summer update. ....and I just don't see them wasting time with the certification process twice like that and so close together. Not trying to rain on your parade, just explaining my reasoning. Yeah they did mention something about the character customization amongst other vague info on future content IIRC because people were asking for it (they were getting a lot for feedback about it) ....but then more details came out on the Summer Update and what that would include along with the latest which is what I shared there.
C20Dragon Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 Hoping tomorrow we’ll at least get some info on the release date. Just like R* logic to post Coming Soon & then have no info for months lol My opinion, coming soon means weeks away, not months. I hope Kean can find some good news tomorrow with the weekly news report from R*. I’ll bet there will be nothing new, since last weeks bonus for doing daily’s extend to this week too. I’m sure they won’t even re-roll the limited stock clothing items, it will be the same cloths as last week. Here’s to hoping R* proves me wrong.

I havent gotten any of them done yet, but at least after I do my daily challenges I have something else to do and I dont linger in RDR2. Well, I totally understand the frustration but assuming things doesnt help either. They obviously need a lot of time to get these things right prior to release. When the Spring update was in the later part of Spring I realized then, these releases are going to come when they are comfortable with them, after seeing all the dupe glitches and money glitches etc. I bet a lot more consideration goes into the releases and delays things. I knew when they called it a summer update we would be waiting until September, I just didnt want that to be the case, but then again, this game was so awesome that I dont mind waiting, sure I wish we had it by now, but ya know what? If we already had it, we would be already looking for the next thing, and I know they have the pc release to do and who knows what else for RDR2 on the books, so I say just try to be patient, stock up on gold and cash as much as you can in between and be ready for it. I have around 145 bars of gold and 9k$ in cash and I dont feel like it is enough. I want to grab onto one of the jobs and develop it to a business, hopefully, we shall see. Economy is not balanced well enough, I am already at 1000 gold but only 20 000 cash though I spent like 30 000 already, and still if I wanted to buy all items that are purchasable with cash I would be bankrupt in no time,l it's just ridiculous how hard it is to get cash but at the same time getting gold is easy like doing on the hunt stolen wagon and so on Edited August 27, 2019 by Melizmator

lumper Posted September 4, 2019 Author Posted September 4, 2019 (edited) Well, my instinct was off about the release of the character customization option landing first, wishful thinking I suppose, BUT it is coming in a week!! I cant wait, Ive been hoarding gold, playing GTAV for bonuses in RDR2 and saving cash. Ive got 9800$ cash, 230 gold bars and just hit level 173, once I get the 54 trading cards in gtaV ill have the fee's waved for the three roles that we can try, trader, bounty hunter and collector. I was super glad to see they gave us the date and info at least. I hope in the future they dont announce updates so far out, it only makes people impatient. What roles are you excited about? I plan to do the trader first, that was my plan from the first time they announced it, I like the idea of doing something I have been doing all along anyway and expanding on it to make money from it as well as the perks that come with it. I cant wait til next Tuesday. I have an account snafu with my gtav/rdr2 so long story I wont go into it the current hurdle is finding those cards on the correct account so the credit goes to my active rdr2 account. On one account in gtav I have most everything you can have like the mk oppresor 2, which makes collecting those cards a snap, but in the profile I have to collect them in, has none of that stuff, not even a garage or a single vehicle, so now I have to go in and get them old school with a stolen car I suppose, uggg thats gonna take a few hours. I found 30 of them before I realized that if I find them under this profile, I wont get the reward to my correct rdr2 profile and so it is all for nothing, sigh. At the end of the day it is only 15 gold, but knowing I can get it for free is driving me to put in the grind and get those cards, save the gold. Edited September 4, 2019 by lumper
McLawDiz Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 i am SUPER stocked about this new update, cause it seems huge, and for me it does not matter, it was a BIT later than expected.. It seems, and look like they added tons of new stuff, and much more than i expected.. They actually do hear, what people say, and want in the RDO world imo, even though it takes a BIT of time, it will eventually get there.. I think the new frontier concept is SUPER cool, and on the verge of real roleplaying in the West world, wich is a thumbs up for me.. and also, it seems like the guns will have more customizing, and likewise new hair & beard types.. ALL very welcome!! , and the idea of giving us some more random events, to make it all feel more alive.. super cool! NOW... Please Rockstar... next update, bring in the brothel & hotel BATH options..
