Summer Update

I was thinking about this and a few things stuck out.

Rockstar said in the coming weeks we would get more information.
I dont think we get an update tomorrow sadly, I think at best, we get more information.
Hopefully we get a news wire report of additional changes to expect when the update hits, possibly a trailer although I doubt it.
My guess is if you log on tomorrow you will find a new splash screen with some news, and potentially a news wire report, with or without a release date.

Part of me thinks, a good strategy would be to make the announcement tomorrow, update the info, release a trailer and announce a release date.
Should that happen they would get a ton of excitement going, really do a solid marketing move that is sure to bring people back with a few weeks left to level up, earn gold, etc.. in anticipation of the upcoming release.

I feel like 90% certain that the update will not drop tomorrow, its just a hunch, no science or information went into it, it is just what I think.
Seeing that they havent exactly done release date announcements previously or released trailers before the other updates if you go by past updates alone, it could go either way, BUT I do believe that since they went out of their way to say specifically in the coming weeks there will be additional announcements, tells me that we will not get the update before we get more information.

We will all have to wait and see, I expect either  8/26 or 9/2 to be the actual release date with 9/2 being what my gut tells me.

Either way I am still very excited about this game and I cant wait for the update, Ive been charging along ranking up and hoarding gold expecting expensive upgrades, changes and opportunities.

What do you all think?

I can see that they wait another week or so... fanbase has really dropped and this seems to be a make or break to draw in new players. Noone I used to play with plays anymore, they played- slowed- got on to do a daily or 2 to keep the streak- then quit. If this update is as big as we think R* really needs to drive up the hype.

Well, Not that I overly dislike the game as is, but life got in the way a little for me and it’s just not worth making the extra time until I have something new to do. So in my case, the longer they draw it out, the longer I stay away from my basement. And the longer it is before I even consider the possibility of buying any gold bars to get some must have cool sh*t that I just can’t be bothered to grind for...

 

But I do believe your hunch is right. We’ll likely be waiting two or three more weeks.

Well i got really frustrated some days ago with the game. Currently log only to do daily and then quit. I really hoped that summer update will be in the summer but oh well. 

I agree and hope that they will implement some serious changes and stuff to grind for.   I know its not enough but i've put away 300 gold bars and a couple of thousand rdo$ the be ready in some point for major expences.      

Still want to hit lvl 200 (3 lvls to go) but getting bored after an hour or two with the game and quit. 

WoW classic hits on the 27 th and me and my friends were waiting for it for some time now. Im affraid ill get sucked in and never even try the update or the game anymore.   Cyberpunk is on the horizon as well........Time will tell.

I too think that the update is more likely to hit closer to mid Sept than today. I'm a little bored with it myself. I still log on every day to do at least 1 daily to keep the streak alive( it's currently over 90 days). I have over 100 gold and over $2700. In the last few days I've actually  gotten back into SP mode. I started over from the beginning since I had only gotten to chapter 3 by the time online came out and I abandoned it.

IDK.  It's after 11 am Eastern Time zone and no announcement of anything so I'm just speculating but...

If you read R* job postings they seem to run an agile software development process which basically means to me they probably just have limited resources (most of the team has moved onto the secret games in development) and are probably pushing up against team members summer vacations, maybe some issues with the programming and stuff like that.

I think it's more of a bottleneck in the programming part than a staged rollout campaign.  Drop whenever it passes internal Quality control

Apparently from what I read GTO has had same issues in the past with spring updates coming out in Winter, etc.

lets be real Rockstar dropped the ball entirely on this Online BS they gave us especially with no hardcore lobbies like the first one, i could tell from the get that their beta was damn near an ALPHA. They then released an unfinished game (Full Release) with these weekly trash updates that was nothing but added showdown series or clothes.

They now have stopped doing these weekly updates of discounts and recycled clothing (im assuming they ran out of clothes to recycle), they keep us in the dark on everything, they say they want our feedback but are they even reading the feedback and implementing anything?

They're screwing up big time, the least they can do is keep us updated on what their plans are, what suggestions theyre considering etc.. engage with the community so we know they give a sh*t. If they're running late on "big" updates the least they can do is own up to their mistake and fix bugs and add small implementations (bigger posse size, bigger max crew size, add ranks to the posse so other people can use the persistent posse if the leader isn't on, change blips colors etc..) so that we know they're working on the game and actually give us weekly updates rather than lame ass recycled clothing and garbage discounts and xp boosts..

Summer ends either at the end of August or toward the end of September depending on whether you go by meteorological or astronomical definitions.  Using my better safe than sorry approach to things, I expect that R* is going by the astronomical calendar which has Summer ending this year before the Autumn equinox (Sept 23rd?).  

......so, we possibly have a month to go with no concrete date or idea that it is closer than that.  I wouldn't rack your brain too hard and just expect that you won't see the update until the end of Sept unless you hear something different before then.  .....something official.

This is very good and exactly what I was looking for.

If you read it, in one part it says.

"As the next major expansion to Red Dead Online approaches, adventure-seekers can earn Double Gold for taking on Daily Challenges this week. Completing all seven Challenges will award a total of Four Gold Bars per day through September 2."

So, there it is, "As the next MAJOR expansion approaches..."

and the gold bar thing for dailys is funny, it says double gold, but I already get 2.5x gold multiplier, I get 3.5 gold bars everyday that I complete all 7 challenges, I think it is only double gold if you have no multipliers already in effect for consecutive days of daily challenges.

Anyway, this announcement qualifies as "more information", now they are clear to drop it.

I had hoped for literally more information like tell us more about the dogs, or the jobs, or the cost of making a new character etc..

But Im happy to hear anything at this point.

I believe in two weeks it will drop, that is my guess on record.

Traditionally summer ends on Sept 21st, it used to be March 21st first day of spring , June 21st first day of summer, Sept 21st first day of Autumn, and Dec 21st first day of Winter.

So based on that 9/23 Tuesday would technically be after summer so to me it has to be any week before the 23rd.

That leaves 8/27, 9/3, 9/10, 9/17 for the Summer update to drop.

Either way, I had 135 gold bars, 8900$ in cash and everything I need in terms of weapons, horses, camp stuff, etc.. 

I only log in, do my daily challenges and then depending on what my needs are I might go hunting or grinding a little to hit the next level, today I cleared a hideout and grabbed a treasure map, first one in several weeks, gave me 1.09 gold, so that was a nice treat.

Getting excited for the update, it is very close now.

If you dont have 4 ability cards at tier 3, get busy, if you are broke, get busy, if you are at a low level get busy, after this update drops you will be thankful that you set yourself as much as you did when you had the chance.

Right now in the game it can be boring yes, BUT you dont have griefers everywhere, you dont have tons of trolls, you dont have confused and angry players everywhere, it is a great time to grind out some levels in peace.

Exactly, me too, it is a little annoying we dont get an additional boost like those folks who havent done the 21 day or more streak.

I had hit day 31 then missed a day, now I am at day 59 I think or 60, I have nearly 100 days in all with only 1 day missed, but after 21 days you do get the 2.5 x gold which equals .5 for each challenge.

I rarely do all 7, I dont do any pvp at all anymore, I do not like the pvp in this game and until they revamp it I will not play it at all, so I usually get 3 to 5, once in a while Ill get 6 or 7 but not very often.

Just because we don't hear anything on a Tuesday doesn't mean they won't release more news on the Summer Update or the update itself on another day.  The most recent example was the new details we got about the update on a Friday (8/2).

....so, my point being is that we could hear more about the update at any time.

I still think people complain to much. It is just a game after all,  not a world changing treaty or piece of legislation... But that’s just me. I find it fun to dabble in now. I anticipate having a blast after the summer update comes and the -40 weather keeps me confined to the basement more often. That’s all I can really ask out of a $60 piece of entertainment software.

My whole thing is game is kind of boring right now and I'm also doing as many dailies as I can and logging out, got a stack of cash and gold and a stack of almost everything I want.

I'm in the camp of I don't care when they release the update but I'd like to see some of all of these bugs fixed.   

I got a 5th horse that's unusable, PVP is broken ...and the other 90% of the time it just counts down to 0 and pops me back into free room, guns are inconsistent, cleaning my horse doesn't register, etc etc...

Today for example...game crashes and I come back with no health, dirty guns and the wrong dang horse.  Plus all the distance I traveled and time spent with no hostility was lost.

Edit...now it crashes Everytime I reach one day with no hostility and my skin menu is different.  Stuff like this drives me nuts

Content is king but bugs need to be fixed.  Don't be pouring new code on top of spaghetti code

I also found RDO a little boring which is why I've switched to other games in the meantime.  Been really enjoying DayZ as of late.  

Personally, I think it's important that they continue releasing the quarterly content drops along with any bug fixes although I wish both were more frequent.  All in all though, I like the direction R* is going and look forward to many more hours of play in RDO as new features are added, etc.    If I didn't, I wouldn't be wasting my time here or with the game.

I'm going to continue to rake in as much gold as I possibly can with the daily challenges and I hope to bring myself up to finishing more of the Single Player story. It's been months since I checked in on Arthur.

Don't know DayZ but as far as Zombie Apocalypse games I am eagerly waiting for the Last of US 2.

I got Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 for Switch but hate the Switch Controllers, don't want to drop $60 on the pro controller, and it's hard to rip that switch out of my kids hands.
 

...but back to my original point on this thread... I just think going forward I think it's realistic to expect that they're just kinda building this game Ad-Hoc and going to drip feed as long as they can.  I don't think updates are going to be regular as compared to other games I've played. I mean just pulling, Fortnite off the top of my head...updates are consistent and well communicated.

In all honesty, RDO is not the worst but the second worst in recent memory for stability, bugs and frequency of updates. 

The other thing is R* should have never stated Summer update or have communicated delays better .  You got threads all over the social sites for RDO blasting them for the term Summer and they've frustrated a huge percentage of their player base.

and personally I'll admit it I'm a money hoarder and don't want to lose my streak again (I'm up to 60 days even after 4 days off in June).  IDK probably serve me well to just let it lapse for a week but that 1 gold bar a challenge is enticing and about all I have left to do accomplish in RDO at this time....earn money and fight off raging griefers.

As far as the game itself, it's the only place I can walk outside and start shooting up animals or just fish on a whim, still love it, but want to see it grow.  Right now seems like it's just moving sideways an backwards.

DayZ is a hardcore survival, open world survival game.  It started out as a mod from ARMA 2 and eventually became a stand-alone game.  It's been in development forever on PC and came to console via XB1 Preview program.  It then released as a full version and then shortly for PS4 which is when I purchased it.  It's still rough with bugs but updates are coming much faster now with content and fixes.  

It's not only you against the environment/elements but also zombies and other players.  You have to scrounge for food, water, fight infection, find parts to repair vehicles for transportation, build bases if you want to, find light sources to survive the night, etc., etc.  

There are military bases you can loot for much better armaments and equipment but its not without risk since there are a lot of folks trying to do the same thing.

Yeah, I wish R* would communicate better but I don't put much thought into folks complaining about the game on social media, etc. in regard to the success of this game. Personally, I think RDO will be around for a long time and eventually it will grow into something much more robust than it is now.

I agree.   We know the update is comming...... its comming for 3 months now. What pissed me off is that they said summer update. Well guess what? It's the end of summer. I was waiting for something they said and did not deliver. 

The next update wil have to be huge - ppl have loads of gold and rdo$ so i expect high prices for wagons - at least 500 gold or more. If not there will be nothing to grind for after 2 weeks. We will see...

And if they implement 1 role only and not 3 - lol at them. 

Atm i only do dailys. I do all 7 and log out. 

There are tons of stuff from story mode that could be implemented in the summer but no let them wait and see what happens. Bull s**t !

Really wish they would just stop with GTA O.  Their GTA time line over the past 20 years is kind of a joke compared to how they started.

Year 2000-2010.   That decade had GTA 3, GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas, Vice City Stories, Liberty City Stories, GTA 4 with TWO awesome DLCS.

Year 2010-2019.   GTA V...  And nothing but updates to GTA O just so they can milk their player base with random sh*t to buy.

Yeah Im with ya on that, I was wrong the other day I didnt realize I was getting 1 gold bar per challenge, so I to do them everyday, I dont do much else, I bought a copy of GTA V so I could get the RDR2 bonuses you get from certain things in GTAV like the 54 cards, and doing the bounty missions with MAude, etc.. 

I havent gotten any of them done yet, but at least after I do my daily challenges I have something else to do and I dont linger in RDR2.

Well, I totally understand the frustration but assuming things doesnt help either.

They obviously need a lot of time to get these things right prior to release.

When the Spring update was in the later part of Spring I realized then, these releases are going to come when they are comfortable with them, after seeing all the dupe glitches and money glitches etc. I bet a lot more consideration goes into the releases and delays things.

I knew when they called it a summer update we would be waiting until September, I just didnt want that to be the case, but then again, this game was so awesome that I dont mind waiting, sure I wish we had it by now, but ya know what?

If we already had it, we would be already looking for the next thing, and I know they have the pc release to do and who knows what else for RDR2 on the books, so I say just try to be patient, stock up on gold and cash as much as you can in between and be ready for it.

I have around 145 bars of gold and 9k$ in cash and I dont feel like it is enough.

I want to grab onto one of the jobs and develop it to a business, hopefully, we shall see.
