Random Server Drops?

I don't know if this has been mentioned or even discussed but I am hoping to see some random server crate drops that players have to hunt down and find. It is entirely random and only happens once every 24 hours at any time of the day. If no one finds and captures the crate in the 24 hours, it just disappears. They can have like ammo, money, weapons, gear for your character, gear for your horse, maybe specialty bounty information and guests, anything like that.

It's not outside the realms of what R$ would do but from what we've learned from GTAO giving away free stuff isn't really their style. Money yes, but stuff, I don't think I've seen that before, apart from the RDR2 themed weapons recently.

That's how they could do bounties, a special bounty worth a lot more than the normal ones if there is bounties online. Once a day there's one of these special bounties and everyone can hunt it down dead or alive if they choose, you can fight other players for it and before they reach a jail you have the chance to take it for yourself.

I have to agree with Benjo here in that Rockstar are kind of tight on giving away free items. I could see them doing money and maybe "specialty" skins or maybe other items you could otherwise find, buy, or use in the game but nothing fancy. I like the treasure map idea though that I read months back. Someone mentioned the crates containing maps to special loot but they are extensive.

I wouldn't be too surprised if Rockstar implemented something like this in Red Dead Online, does anyone remember the GTA Online Beer Hat Crates? Everyone in the session would be killing eachother whether they were friend or foe just for the chance to grab one of those Special Crates.

But like most good things it was ruined by the cries of butthurt little kids, many complained that they didn't get one so Rockstar never did Special Crate drops for rare clothing ever again.

I wouldn't mind them making this like a treasure hunt online. Instead of seeing a crate appear on the map, have a treasure map appeal somewhere and everyone has to fight to get it. If you have the map, then you can locate the treasure but if someone finds out you are using it, then they can kill you and take it from you.

Way too much griefing in games.  Why?   So no.  I don't need others set on ruining my game.  If they want a PvP mode then create it, but I really am tired of others unable to have fun unless it revolves around ruining it for others.

You wouldn't have to be involved in this though. But the whole point of games like this online is to either work solo against everyone else or form a gang and fight other gangs.

In GTA:O, players could just put a bounty on you.  You didn't have to participate in that either.  Doesn't mean while exploring I should have to PvP online.  To me if you want PvP, then create PvP.  I personally am not a fan on griefing online, just because others are bored doesn't mean that they need to disturb someone else's game.   You want to search for treasure and make it a online mission competition type thing, then go for it.  I just don't want to be part of the, "Hey look a player over their doing his own thing and here we are bored.  Why don't we just go over and grief him till we can make him rage quit."

I am hoping for the sake of avoiding trolls they have two separate kinds of servers. Like give us an option to have PVP turned off but in return, we can't hurt other players either. I used to get pissed on GTA when I would join just to do my own thing and people would start gunning for me for no reason.
