  3. Update: just started playing 30 minutes ago, this game off of first impressions is phenomenal, outstanding graphics. Stunning textural detail and physics. Thank **** I bought it lol.

  4. I read an article that states there is more then one ending and it depends on your actions throughout the game. I stopped reading the article at that point. Didn't want any spoilers.

  6. Hell, I've spent a few hours stacking bodies already. Edit: Can I get a job @BropolloCreed79? I'm a great body stacker!!! (this got my stamina up to like 6-7 before the game really started)

  7. Unbelievably simple. Spend a few hours trying to get a perfect cougar pelt here or a few hours trying to complete a scavenger or gambler challenger there. It is slightly overwhelming in the things that you can do. I literally boot up the game, jump in a party chat with my friends and say "I have no idea what I want to tackle right now" haha. Not to mention when you just get swept up in the gorgeous scenery or come across a random event, or stranger mission or legendary animal. The best game I have ever played honestly.

  8. I've never seen it red, but I guess so I always keep it well stocked. I also spend time in camp doing chores, playing games, talking to NPCs, getting upgrades, crafting, giving cash, eating and drinking - I treat it like an RPG, and after every mission or every few days free roaming, I come back to camp and 'take care' of it. It's good for getting stuff, increasing honor, expanding the storyline, and immersion.

  9. That may have been me, not sure...I actually posted the same problem on one thread, and I currently have an open support ticket with R*. I have been communicating with them every day, and have typically been getting a reply back from them the next morning. Here's how it went down once I opened the ticket: Day 1 - Told them about the problem, and they asked me to upload a screenshot showing that I downloaded the add-on. So, I did that.✔️ Day 2- Then they asked me to 'complete' chapter 2, (even though their support page says you just need access to the mission with the stables), but...I did as they asked anyhow, I completed Chapter 2. ✔️ Day 3 -Then they got back and asked me to clear the game cache files. Brand new PS4 slim purchased a few days before, and only this game installed, but still, I did as they asked and cleared them. ✔️ Day 4 - I told them I still had NO WAR HORSE! They then asked me for a screenshot that the day 1 patch had been installed. So, I did. ✔️ Day 5 - (This morning) Received a reply requesting a pic/scan of my receipt showing the amount, and the date of purchased. Well, I did that at 6:00 a.m this morning. ✔️ Like I mentioned before, I generally have a reply waiting for me the next day when I wake up around that time. I am halfway through Chapter 3, so at this point I am willing to bet that I will be finished the game before this is resolved. However, I will update this thread when I get new information from R*. I don't know what looking at the receipt will do. I am thinking they will ask me to re-install and start the story mode over. I have no interest in doing that. I have invested a lot of hours in this product already. If they do, I will be telling them that I will not be doing that, and that it will more than likely be the last R* product I purchase, or at least the last time I dish out an extra amount of money for bonus material. I know, I know, they'll probably roll their eyes and laugh. Anyhow, sorry to hear you're having the same problem(s) as I am and a ton of other people. Note: All my other bonus items were available EXCEPT my war horse, so it's kind of weirld.

  10. Agree with this 100%. This is not GTA or COD. Its Red Dead Redemption 2, and these are the mechanics of the game. They won't change so you'll have to. If you can push forward a bit further money won't be so much of an issue anyway.

  11. Hey all, I wanted to make this post to get things off of my mind, and I wanted to do this thread so people can discuss about this. Okay, so I've noticed a lot of people are targeting Rockstar and criticizing them and pointing out their flaws. Honestly, I don't mind the talk of things Rockstar did wrong in the game, but why not talk about the things Rockstar did right? I am so tired of people pointing out flaws, and complaining more than my 3 year old sister does. This game is amazing, is it perfect? Absolutely not, but neither was Grand Theft Auto V or Grand Theft Auto IV, which both are LEGENDARY games. But, let's stick to the parameters of this discussion. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a great game, and most people can't see past the minor issues this game has and it's an absolute SHAME. I see more people criticizing rather than embracing this game. This game has so many more positives than negatives, yet people are complaining about them like it's the end of the world, and won't give Rockstar a chance to improve the game. Yeah, this game has been in the works for a very long time, can't you see that in the craftsmanship and detail in the game along with the amazing story? The Red Dead series has improved in so many ways. The hunting is far and beyond what it use to be in the previous Red Dead title, the customization is far more better, the motion capture is amazing, the gun play and horse riding experience is absolutely phenomenal. All of these good positives in the game, and yet people complain over how long missions take, and how horses can't run in between trees? Come on guys, half of the games these days can't even meet half of the expectations Rockstar's games has from their fans. Most games now a days are released with the same exact thing with almost no improvement in their own series, filled with micro-transactions, and HELL some of them don't even contain a FREAKING campaign with NO beneficial message. Before people start saying I'm biased and I'm only defending the game, well I hate to break it to you, I AM defending the game. Most people walk all over this game because they have complaints everywhere on the littlest things, and it's a shame how the littlest things ruin the game for them, when this game beats and demolishes almost all of the games released this generation. Not every game is perfect, and I understand videos games are subjective. Some people may not like the game because of the change in pace, that's fine. Some people may not like the game because theirs so much cut scenes, and you have to be careful about the lawmen attacking you, and you have to keep an eye on your health, and you have to hold medicine and things so you can revive yourself and help your horse, that's fine. It's a different type of style of game, this isn't a fast paced Call of Duty shooter, or a Fortnite game. This is a wild west game where things are slow, traveling takes time, and things are way different. But, when people walk on this game for the smallest little detail of error, they automatically hate this game so much to the point they start jumping on forums, bashing the game, and start attacking people with rude remarks, and hate filled comments, that's when things REALLY gets to me and shows where the gaming community has landed. Whatever happened to the appreciation of innovation? Unreal. I've been playing video games all of my life, and I will continue to support studios and games that are actually good and worth playing, because that's the heart and soul of gaming. Most people are so into fast pace, super competitive games, so much to the point where they can't respect a different genre of games. I would always give credit where it's due, even if I don't like the game. I honestly didn't like Skyrim when it came out, but I still gave it credit for being a super amazing game that changed everything for RPGs. Just because it didn't reach MY expectations of the game, doesn't mean I'm going to sit there and bash on it like its the end of the world, and kill my fingers typing on forums talking bad about people, and shout out the minor flaws saying it's the worst thing that ever spawned on earth. Okay, now that most of this is off my chest, I could hopefully make my views clear to people, and maybe convince someone who hated the littlest things about the game to maybe look at the bigger picture.

  12. This: "I mean wtf? RDR should not be a dang simulation. That's not fun at all and more frustrating than everything else." And this: "Are you kidding me? I don't have to gallop at full speed all the time? What is this? Real life? Isn't this a game? Isn't this a free sandbox open world GAME like Rockstar says? Isn't this supposed to be fun? Do I really have to consider how I play?!" Indicate to me that this game is not going to be for you. Its a feature, not a bug. The game's stylistic intent was to have a fair chunk (medium accepting, of course) of 'realism', 'historicity' and 'simulationism'. It has been designed primarily with a slow-play, role-playing approach. There will be things like horse grunts, walking slow, eating and cleaning and shaving, and the such like that I expect will grate on you. Not every game is for every person, and I suspect this game design isn't for you. Sorry Either adapt your mentality and game style if you really want to play this game, or return the game. Or just use the cheat codes and have it only as a rag-doll joke game. Hope it works out for you.

  15. The source of my problems with this game is the fact I spent hundreds, literally hundreds of hours playing RDR1, so I know the mechanics of it intimately. I 100%ed it long before I finished playing it, and know the whole game literally like the back of my hand. It's great that people love this game, and rightly so, but for me, being able to see that 60% of the game is based on the same old scripted, antiquated system that the first one was made on, then sold as "changing open world gaming", it doesn't hit the mark for me. Like I said, my opinions are based on a) my knowledge of the first one and b) comparing that to what they sold it as. Looking at it objectively I can see why people love it, and I don't want to spoil anyone's fun, but for me there are major problems with what they touted and what they delivered, and unless someone has as much knowledge of the first game and puts forward an argument that counters that, I'll feel the same.

  16. I noticed in the clip that your horse's stamina core is depleted. It's blinking to call your attention to that. Running up and down mountains full speed with a dead buck on its back, and no wonder it's complaining to you. The game is not broken -- it is trying to tell you something.

  17. Second run through of story mode, this time searching out every single side mission and quest possible from camp. Already got a bit of nostalgia playing the first missions and it's only been a week or two. Anyone else thinking of doing it?

  19. To be fair, others were trying to help too but thanks for that. The rhythm isn't easy to get but I use the "clomping" noise as a gauge. If anything, getting it close will at least slow down the rate of stamina drain. Also, there are items like the upgraded stirrups IIRC that will help slow it down further. As someone else pointed out, horses make those types of noises and R* made it a point to let people know RDR2 was going to be all about the little details. ......so of course there are going to be elements like this in the game. This is what many fans had asked for and were anticipating. I'm not going to be one of those that say "go play something else" but you have to realize that these traits are a big part of what this game is about. They went for more complex, "realistic" mechanics. ....more "depth" and immersiveness. Quite frankly, if the game had been made more simplistic and shallow, I wouldn't have been attracted to it. Given some of the feedback I've read from you, I have a feeling RDR2 may simply be something you will never really like or enjoy which is fine. It's just not your type of game is all.

  20. I don't use it much but when I ride with a partner (yellow person on the map) or part of a mission yes, I have to hold down A. If I'm just traveling say from way up north to the trapper I select the trapper on the map, then go into the cinema screen and it takes me there all the way, no pressing A.

  21. I picked up the first one for Xbox, it's backwards compatible it was on sale this spring for around $7 in the xbox store. I really enjoyed it and that is what made me excited for this one. I bought this one and MAN this is one of the first games in a LONG LONG time I can happily recommend to my buddies I would not hesitate to buy again at full price. That's hard to say for a lot of games today where normally I wait until later for them to go on sale. I've put some many hours into Red Dead 2 it's been well worth the asking price. As far as graphics go I felt the same way as you when I started playing, this game feels like a movie! Most game start out looking super nice, then the screen zooms in and you take over controls and it doesn't quite look as crisp and fancy, not this game when you start playing it looks the same, like a freaking western movie! I'm loving!

  22. Guys, the ting described here is a placebo. I have played with the setting. The resolution the game starts with is the one that it is running, depite the option to change to a different one in the PS Menu. The game stays on the one that it started on. The slider only works when you have NO SS enabled and start the game in 1080p mode. All other things are just in your brain, making the game much better I have tested and compared screens, and it's the same. Play the game on 1080p with no SS. The 4K TV does upscale quite OK the game, and when not 1m away from the TV the image is pleasant.

  24. When I notice I'm in a part of a mission where I'm free to roam and won't have bounty hunters shooting at me, I take the time to send a message (and loot). These were before I got that camera, so now I have a few selfies with the stacks lol I was unimpressed when I checked the xbox stats. It only shows time played, story completion, total completion, and # of gold medals. I would love to know the body count!

  25. I'm taking it Real slooow Still in chapter 2, foraging for items to make poison arrows, fire arrow and explosive bullets. Upgraded the load I can carry from a trapper. Clean out every gun shop and general store of ammo and arrows. Note, 40 arrows max ? Grrr. Nbut, 300 rounds for the rifle ? ! Oh ya 😎💩

  27. Perfect idea. I also did this when trying to hit that 80ft tomahawk throw. I completed this challenge by rolling up to a raider camp and tossing a stick in the middle. There are usually exactly 4 enemies there.

  28. Same. Didn't wear the hood though. Just the bandana. It's been my highest bounty thus far at $110. Only part way through chapter 3. I really hope we get to kill Micah. Very interesting how some people get much stiffer bounties and much more often...

  29. I got the guide straight away. Given how little info the game gives you about mechanics and stuff I have the guide invaluable. Just don't read bits you don't want to spoil for yourself.

  30. Go fishing in a narrow body of water (like a river) and just keep throwing back the fish, it gives you honour. Alternatively if you have enough money donating $20 over and over again at camp quickly raises it. I'd personally wait until you have the bandit challenges completed anyway else you'll be wasting your time.

  32. 1st, it's a forum. Not everyone will be fanboys. Not everyone will be trolls. All of them will be critiques to some point. If you post, be opened minded enough to the fact that your opinion may be wrong in the eyes of others. 2nd, I love the game upto a point. It does have some major flaws that have been disappointing. Like being chased, find a clearing with a lone tree, turn and shoot the bad people and get bucked off cause my dumb horse ran straight for the tree knocking itself out. Leaving to die getting shot up locked in some animation. Kind of bad for a gun fight and it wasn't the direction I was heading. Or using Dead Eye, shoot a bad guy in the head only to have him stand up and kill me as I turn to face another opponent and that's after the little kill animation. Great game but for some, it is the little things that will make them love the game. So just because there are those of us that do love, don't expect others to say nothing, cause we don't want to hear their opinions. They are entitled to their opinions as much as we are to ours.

  33. UPDATE, I did not loose him, the DLC thoroughbred is on the sand-bar south of flat-kneck station. I do only have 2 horses in my stables now 🙂
    1 point
  34. I DID IT! So what I did was saddle up the thoroughbred that was free with the DLC. I took him out and found a wild horse, broke that wild horse then switched my saddle to the new horse, this made the DLC thoroughbred my "temporary horse". I then told the DLC thoroughbred to "flee" and I rode off until his icon turned grey. This means he couldn't hear my voice commands or whistle anymore. Then I rode to a stable and sold the newly broken horse. Now the DLC thoroughbred is gone. I did try and shoot him before I did all this, but it won't let you shoot your horse, the icon greys out when you aim at your horse. Hopefully this helps others out. I'm going to keep the WAR Horse that came w/ the DLC. I've seen plenty of thoroughbreds out and about if I want another one.

  35. I really enjoy the game and it's set to be one of my all time favorites. Most of my friends agree and all of them have been spending way more hours playing it than most games in recent memory. Having said that, I have nothing against people being critical about aspects of the game they don't like. .....but It's the hyperbole and/or discourtesy some show toward others that tends to get under my skin especially against those that are simply trying to help or provide an alternative viewpoints. This forum is no different to others when it comes to such things. Although I still think this one does a better job at moderating. In the end, I know there are going to be those who don't share the same opinion of the game that I do. Nothing wrong with that IMO and I welcome the discussions. .....provided they stay civil.

  36. I only have 3 spots in my stable. They currently have: DLC War DLC thoroughbred Mustang Wild Bay I picked up a Mustang Grullo Dun and wanted to keep the 4th. I'm normally running around hunting with 2 horses, main and temporary but I can't keep the temp horse or store it in the stable. I recently found the Arabian White, super nice horse, so I sold my Mustang Grullo Dun. I kinda thought the idea was to brake horses or steal them, then keep them for a while so you get better skills with them, then turn them in for more money. It's hard to do that when you don't have the room to work with in your stable. I wish there was an option to take them out and put them back at a later date if I wanted. I found a nice Nokota but don't have the space to work with it. Same went for a nice looking Hungarian Halfbred.

  37. I have it... I am just not sure where I have it. I do plan on making a man cave of sorts in my office room when I move. Going to be getting a 3 bedroom apartment with my brother. The extra room will be for my office so I will likely display it with my other items on a bookshelf.

  38. You can play Red Dead Redemption 2 first because its a prequel to the original Red Dead Redemption. After you beat the new game, then you can play the original Red Dead Redemption. Also, yes the game is worth it, its a must buy in my books. The story is amazing on its own.

  43. As MS mentioned, you can time your button presses to the stride of the horse when in a full gallop and you won't deplete it's stamina. There is even mentioned of this in the tips you get in-game. There is also an option you can use to "toggle" the run button so that you don't have to keep pressing it. However, you will still need to tap it for full sprint / gallop. Your horse will begin grunting excessively and eventually start making many more noises as you deplete it's stamina or when you are not timing your button taps properly. In that video, look at how depleted the health and stamina cores are for the horse. Of course, the horse is going to start showing signs of fatigue and discontent. This is all feedback to help you understand your horse's current state. It will get restless when there are predators nearby, it will begin grunting and show signs of resisting when pushed too far, etc. Listen to what the horse is telling you and check the stats. Feed it when you begin to see depletions in the core(s). I don't think you're overdramatizing but I do think some other folks around here tend to assume the game is broken instead of accepting that they might be doing something wrong. RDR2 has more depth in it's mechanics than the game it replaces. If you take the time to learn how those components work, you'll have a much more enjoyable time in the game IMO/IME. btw, I appreciate the fact that you accept that you might be doing something wrong as some others would rather just blame the game than consider that it's within their control. They are heavy-handed in the way they approach the RDR2 game world when the game is now more about rewarding finesse and skill. ....the depth of this title is one major reason I really like it. I enjoy the challenge and it makes me feel that my input has more of an impact in-game vs. just a point, click and shoot experience. I get better as I progress through the story. ....my skills improve, my senses and intuition sharpen, I become more aware of clues and danger in the game world, etc. Some may prefer a simpler, cut & dry experience and I can understand that. .....but that's not what RDR2 is about and I'm all the more happy for it. I wish I could find a video showing you how to time your gallop. I will admit that it took a little practice for me to get it and even then I still don't time it right every time especially in situations of stress (e.g. being chased, shot at, etc.). .....but at worst, I've reached the point where my horse's stamina will drain very slowly.
