Ive been working on this for sometime. Its it very near complete and I tried to be as accurate as possible. Just needed to get it posted before the holiday vacation. Current prices on all animal carcus, pelts and parts as of update 1.05 Please let me know if this is not showing up correctly. My original had links for every animal to the rockstar compendium and everything but its just too much for the upload I guess.3 points

I go to a sockeye salmon spot, use the special lake lure to get ten of those, then I drop a carcass in the water and wait like five minutes until there are a ton of fish near it. I drop in dynamite and wait for the damaged fish to float up. I usually get about 20 or more fish from that and not all of them go to one *, some stay ** and ***. I get 25 for the salmon and that 1 dollar stick of dynamite gets me 20-30 more. I do it this way because If I get killed I dont lose the fish.3 points

If all else fails you can do what my buddy did, he couldn't get rid of these "free horse" so he parked it on the train tracks. That did the trick.3 points

Almost everything about this game seems to suck. In the former Red Dead game I would play for hours and make progress but this is a slow slog of crap that is over complicated. I gave up and doubt I will even finish the game. And ONLINE sucks really bad.2 points

I like how the lack of "realism" is brought up and then an argument for being able to "roll, snap and flick" to get headshots more easily.2 points

We can discuss this over and over, but everyone has the same possibilities so the playing ground is equal for all. For me the cards are the main grind reason and although I agree in Free Roam the gameplay should be altered in gunfights (PVP) due to the griefing aspect or not being ready for surprise attacks. In PVP different builds will actually give players different scenarios to have to counter, so I don't really agree, although I haven't done PVP. From what I have read there are more important problems such as the varmint headshot rifle that need to be addressed. As far as loadouts are concerned there are a lot of combinations possible and I can't really comment on PVP although your loadout will depend on your skill. If you rack up headshots running Eye for an Eye III combined with strange medicine III will keep health and dead eye at good levels combined with slow and steady III which gives you a decent chance at surviving more encounters. As for a 3rd passive you might want to consider Winning Streak III as a damage booster for both headand body damage. In PVE Slippery Bastard or slow and steady seem to be decent abilities. I always use Never without one III to be able to counter the surprise attacks from other online players. There are loads of cards that are decent like Peak Condition as damage booster as well as Horseman as in PVE damage output in general is more useful compared to health and dead eye regeneration at this point of the game. Currently working on getting the Posse beneficial cards to level 3 in order to be able to run a support character which benefit the better skilled PVP players I usually run with and am wondering how that will work. I assume these Posse related cards will be great later in in larger scale PVE and PVP team based gameplay.2 points

Whaaat? Whaaaat does this even mean? Theres nothing overly complicated about this game. And the pace of the game is up to to the player. You can't complain about not making 'progress' if you stop playing the game. IMO this is the best game i've played in years.2 points

I think we all know how this is going to go, but RDR2 and RDO have a rich tapestry of characters that leave quite the impression. I never really gave it too much thought, but I came across this beauty on Reddit yesterday and it still cracks me up: I'm sure Dutch will get plenty of consideration, too, but I really hate Micah. So, who do YOU hate?1 point

I loved this game (story mode), but I've never got on with online play (I'm the wrong side of 50 now and hate being "owned" by lightning fingered 14yo with time to burn). But as I love playing around in this "world", and as I could get in on Day2, I thought I'd give it a go. On the whole I love it, but I am seeing many comments about "Griefers" (new word for me). But are they really a problem? I read other posts on here, with some great tips/tactics on how to deal with them. So I played last night with the intention of trying these new techniques..and not one person randomly shot me!! To be fair, I have played Beta for at least 30hrs and I have been shot for no reason about 10 times. Most often just a late 19th century drive-by. A couple of times someone has tried I was able to defend my self and send them packing (which felt great!!). The one time I did get "owned" was when I mistakenly "sniped" someone (I'm claiming mistaken identity), who then hunted me down and killed me 5 times in a few minutes. I got the offer for a parley/feud but tried to kill him again (another death), at which point I said "You are totally kicking my butt!", we chatted about how he'd got his levels, and I ended up posseing up with him and he showed me how he'd levelled up, and gave me lots of tips etc. For me, there seems to be several ways to play the game. Alone, focusing on hunting fishing etc, I've been able to do this (mostly) untroubled. Its just getting to the limited Butcher's shops that is the problem. Secondly, I think you need to posse up. It is so much easier when someone has your back (especially if they're quite good!), also its better for doing many of the missions. But therein lies my problem. Being a "giffer" (oldie!) I don't have a network of online friends. I have friends (a few) but they don't play online at all. I am hoping that once I've done my 20 posts, I can try to find some posse members on here as I think its the way forward. I also feel that this so-called "griefing" problem could get worse. However, for me, I think it's much more fun to get two posse's and re-enact "Gunfight at the OK coral". I'd also like more gunfighting (duels) rather than outright murder. I think GTA V, went too far down the "just shoot everyone on site" philosophy. With RDO I think R* have the makings of something great. But if it is going to develop into a genuine and immersive world, there needs to be some way to "police" the "griefers" (I prefer murderous psychopaths). Here's a thought, how about have R* sponsored Pinkertons. Other higher level "honorable" players who set up as law-keepers and track down repeated offenders. Its what happened in The Wild West. I'd wear a Tin Star, it'd be funny. Anyway, going back to my opening question; no, I don't think that griefing is a huge problem at the moment, they can be avoided. R* could help, by reducing the need to visit the very limited number of places to sell stuff; perhaps introduce a few "mobile" trappers around the world. They could also stop sending my camp to New Austin, there are no shops and its pretty lawless as you'd expect and I certainly don't want to go all the way down there just to do some cooking. (I know I can move the camp but $2 is $2). However, as Beta ends and more people join I think there is the possibility that griefing could be become an issue. However, I think the way forward is co-op. I've done a few posses and it is definitely easier. Its definitely harder to grief/troll someone when there are 3 others to retaliate while you respawn and get your horse back.1 point

Think about GTA 5. Took Rockstar two years after initial release to bring the game to PC. It came out for consoles September 2013 and came to PC April 2015. Could easily be two years before we see a PC version of the game but I see no reason why they wouldn't do it1 point

Hopefully it works at @GMak81. If not try a hard reset on your console. I've had some issues with the game such as mission locks online etc and Rockstar Support (after contacting them) said that a hard reset would fix the issue and it did1 point

@Ryanosaurus @Truth Thanks pardners, I have looked through satchel inventory, weapon wheel etc, I'll try as Ryan says to use the d pad. If it works, I will update as it may help others. Thanks for the speedy replies, I'm now booting it up!1 point

@Archer I'm with you on this one. I love being able to swap out outfits when I can. Id love to be able to hold AT LEAST 5 so I could have one for most sections of the map if you get me. I've noticed an issue with a lot of the clothing items however, such as the bandana going through my players face when I wear it which is a shame. Theres a lot of work to be done in online yet before I can see Rockstar bringing about such feature but hopefully somewhere down the line!1 point

For me daytime is the only time they attack me. Usually find a guy hanging from a tree and they just charge at me all silently and psychotically from there. Its unnerving how quiet they are though. Its gotten to the point now that if I see a poor Ba****d hanging I just keep on riding.1 point

Maybe they'll finally get it to "snow" instead of just rain in Ambarino. Weather online up there is ****** atm. Even better add snow to more places on the map so wearing warm clothes is viable.1 point

I'm pretty sure the Hanging dog Ranch respawns a gang there after completion. Not 100% sure but you could check it out. There are also a few spots in New Austin like Twin Rocks that spawn Del Lobo gang members. Both would be considered "gang hideouts"1 point

Well, for one, my kid is too young at this point in his life to be handling guns but I wouldn't recommend anyone jumping fences, holstering or otherwise handling a weapon in a "ready to fire" state unless they are actually ready to shoot. That would go for several of the real life counterparts of the weapons repesented in this game that have no safety and are ready to shoot with just a pull of the trigger once (for example) the hammer is cocked back. You would be asking for a negligent discharge to happen. IMO, the "recocking" of most of these weapons makes sense to me. Howvere, rechambering a round each time in the "bolt action rifle", not so much but then again, I'm not familiar with the Krag's (the real life rifle's) safety features, quirks, etc. .....but beyond all this nonsense, it's just a game with a touch of historical accuracy, a dash a realism, some randomness and other features to make the game more immmersive. .....and I think they got it right for the most part to keep it still fun. ...btw, not too sure why you were asking me this question. I wasn't agreeing with the OP.1 point

A wee tip, get the Lake Lure out just opposite the butcher in Blackwater, Lake Sturgeon are plentiful and it's the quick carry across to the butcher that makes the difference, you can rack up a few every time you're down there. Admittedly it's a busy bit and shots to the head while you actually have a fishing rod in your hands is a hazard, but I've had few problems lately.1 point

I hate to say it but I think showdown series are the fastest way to gain money and xp. If you're opposed to that, then hunting and fishing is the way to go. Deer and rabbits are plentiful and bagging a 3* deer carcass is worth $7($10 for a buck) plus the money you get for their pelts. 2 rabbit carcasses add up to $7 as well.as for fish, most are worth $1 apiece. You can hold up to 10, so that' $10 for 10 of 1 species. Trout and salmon are worth $2.50 apiece, or $25 for a full load. Around the coast north of St. Denis and around the boardwalks in the swamps you can find herons, spoonbills and pelicans and a full load of their plumes will net you around $15. While you're there, kill any gators you see. A full load of big game meat will give you $7.50.1 point

It's become a lot more stable already, but I'm actually glad I got to fall through the ground in Tumbleweed and tumble down through the Void... endlessly... screaming... that was worth the experience. Imagine if that happened to you in real life...1 point

Exactly the same here... I never start it, but when things happen expect me to constantly harass you until you either leave the game or politely says sorry for disturbing my peace. Normally they don't expect a reaction and I got a few whiny messages from those kids about me going overkill. "Dude I killed you once!" YEP, that was you telling me it's ok to kill you how many times I desire aswell.1 point

If you guys really want to help effect change, submit your feedback to R*. Provide them with the details of your experience with the gold bar system. I suspect it's an oversight if it is occurring as some describe and not intentional deceit but then again, some will automatically assume the worst regardless.1 point

Sounds like they are giving you the pre-order horse. Is it grey? I also did the pre-order and it came with the war horse and a strange spotted thoroughbred. If you really don't want those horses (and believe I understand as you can get better ones pretty fast in the game) since you can't sell, here is what I did. I was on the thoroughbred that I couldn't sell or get rid of and I tamed a wild horse then I switched saddles from the thoroughbred and put it on the newly tamed horse. Then I left the thoroughbred there. Instead of whistling at him and having him follow me as the (secondary horse). Eventually he was out of "whistle distance" and eventually it went away. Fast forward a few days and now when I go to stable it shows the thoroughbred and war horse as horses I can "buy" for $0.00 so you technically never get rid of them but they also aren't taking up space in your stable. Hope this helps.1 point

I'm 42 and can't remember when I enjoyed a game this much. I played the first one, thought it was a lot fun but this one seems even better. I play the story mode. Offline is a different beast. I too like to take my time and do every quest, side mission, unlock every trapper outfit, etc... I don't enjoy these for online as much as online people seem to play fast and want to get to the end game, whatever that may be. I'm still not sure what the point of RDR2 online is yet....I go online in the free roam area and I want to hunt and collect money to buy better weapons and more gear and I get shot over and over. I'm perfectly fine with if they shoot you they get the pelts on your horse or can take your weapons or earn XP or something, but if killing another person in free roam doesn't do anything for a gain I don't understand the point. I stopped playing for a few days then went back in and some random invited me to join the posse, I did and it was the 2 of us in a posse he wanted to take on another posse, again I'm not sure for what exactly, but there were 12 of them, needless to say 2 v 12... we didn't fair well. I haven't played much online in RDR2 but as of now I'd say it's like the Dark Zone on The Division. You go in there as a single and 8-10+ will jump you, not to take your gear or loot but just to jump you for no better reason than they can. That in my opinion adds up to about 1-2 seconds of fun. So I find something else to do. Now if you could kill the other person in online and take their pelts and sell them or get their weapons then I can completely understand it but as it is now you just enter a big map of team death match with no end game.1 point

OP doesn't like the game. The argument that it "sucks" is so powerful I'm going to go home and snap the disc and throw it in the river. For my money, this is the most satisfying gaming experience I've ever had. I am 36 years old and was like a kid watching his first movie for about 100 hours. I never really understand this kind of "criticism", but then i don't understand the point of a lot of internet interaction to be honest.1 point

I've only really been griefed twice, both times the player followed me and followed me. The first time the guy killed me 7 times then messaged me "sorry". I didn't know about parley at the time or the report button. The second guy killed me for no reason then followed me so I killed him a couple of times and made it to my camp. He followed me there and made a total ass of himself just waiting for me to leave. He even messaged me "when you leave you get it" so I reported him. It had some effect - the next day his message to me was gone when I went to block him. But you are right about posses but I only have one friend that plays and he doesn't play much. But a guy here (HooverRAD) is starting a persistent posse and that may be what I need. I doubt anyone will mess with 7 players in a posse but there are some 12 yr old idiots out there. I don't know - I fish a lot and don't want to hold up a posse from doing other things, so I ply solo 99% of the time. I've played since the first day I could and have been killed plenty but only really bothered those 2 times.1 point

Please forgive an old guy (69) for doing what old guys are known for....ranting nonsense. I played RDR1 on day one, and enjoyed every minute of it. I waited years to see a RDR2 release. I havent been disappointed with it. Although I am far from considering myself a hardcore gamer, I am a person that has been known to pay 200 bucks for a new video card and memory upgrades for any game that caught my fancy. I also thought that Doom was a technical marvel that would never be surpassed. Overclocking and water coolers. Tetris will never die! I have always looked at video games as being movies that we get to play the lead character. Those are the type of games that I have enjoyed the most. Shooting monsters or robots in outer space just never got the bone stiff. And like movies, everyone has their likes and dislikes. There is no accounting for taste. If anybody wants to debate whether Rio Bravo is a better western than Shane, go for it. The Wild Bunch was my favorite. I consider this a western themed video game. A genre all to itself. Rockstar put a lot of effort into this game and I think it shows. The crunch time stuff and all of the problems in production paid off in the finished product. The devils in the details are amazing. They took RDR1 and polished the sh!t out of it. They took the newer tech and made it work. To me, they wrote a compelling story. When Travis shot old yeller, it kicked me in the nuts. When .............................I got the same feeling. There are times in this game where I wished they would just get to the friggin conclusion and end it. I consider that my own impatience and not a fault of the game. At my age, slow pace isnt considered a problem....its a way of life.1 point
