  1. UPDATE: Please see my responses below. The issue seems as though it is resolved. As some may know, the new player blip mechanic was implemented to help mitigate the griefing issue. The idea was that trolls would not have the advantage of knowing or observing other players in other regions and outside of a relatively short range. However, as it turns out, the RDR2 App (which also shows the entire map) was not updated to mimic the range restrictions in this new update. For those who don't or can't use the App, this puts them at a huge disadvantage as anyone else with the App will know where they are but they will now essentially be blind. I don't think I have to tell you how trolls will use this to their advantage. The reason for this thread is 1) to help make people more aware of this issue. 2) to request that those affected or concerned to please submit a trouble ticket and a feedback report through the following link: https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=f2e50892 I submitted a trouble ticket using the Bug/Technical Issue link describing the problem as the new update mechanics not working in the App. I then submitted a response through the Feedback page describing the problem as a gross oversight that the App does not mimic the in-game anti-griefing measure and the obvious potential for exploitation. I will say that I received a canned response from the 1st tier reps when I submitted the trouble ticket. I rated them poorly and used to the link to request a response from a R* representative. We'll see how that goes. Either way, I am sure this will be an issue that many will see as a glaring oversight and wouldn't be surprised to find gaming news outlets reporting on the problem like they did with the missing NPC/wildlife bug. If this is an issue / concern for you, I would encourage and appreciate if you could take the time and submit your feedback / trouble ticket through the link provided. Thanks, Kean

  2. Counterpoint: (and unpopular opnion) I find the very idea of emotes lame, so I never buy them to begin with.

  5. Oops didn't mean to enter that last entry. I keep coming back here from time to time and I'm seeing the same thing every time. A whole heap of people STILL sick of greifers and R* doing nothing about it. I'm still seeing the posts from people giving suggestions like 'join another lobby', my answer remains the same - people who want to play the game in peace should not have to keep taking evasive action to accommodate the morons. When R* wake up and set up private lobbies or lobbies where people aren't playing at being tinpot cowboys I'll return to the game.

  6. Yes, I know what you're saying. Going to the butcher should almost be something mundane. Might be easier looking for treasure in Lagras with all the gators! LOL

  7. We have a Topic for In-game names but haven't seen one for photos of people's character so I thought I'd make one so we can all share our unique custom made toons and either be impressed, or enjoy a few laughs. (let's say a limit of maybe 5 photos) So what do your characters look like?? I'll go ahead and start with my character. Wahkan Makostah: (Translated to): Sacred White Bear

  8. I was disappointed with the update, player icons on the map are now confusing, all different shades of blue including posse members, I saw some purple and anyone who griefed me were red. Also I was shot at by another player, I defended myself and killed the said shootee, I received a bounty for self defence?! How is that fair???!!! Lastly, trying to do the stranger missions I found near in impossible. Constantly being targeted by posse after posse using explosive ammo and dynamite. Ok I get it is always been in the game, but unless players are deliberately trying for bounty on their head or are bored and need things to do, it just seemed non stop which I have not encountered in my gaming time.

  14. RED DEAD ONLINE BETA UPDATE OUT NOW Today, the Red Dead Online Beta gets its first big batch of updates including new gameplay, weapons and clothing, additional balancing and a slew of community-requested improvements thanks to responses to our player feedback page. The update is live in-game now - see below for details. Earn Gold Nuggets and XP for completing Daily Challenges, a new series of wide-ranging objectives covering everything from skinning animals to finding treasure, winning feuds and more. Pull up the Player Menu to see your 7 Daily Challenges that will rotate each day, each challenge earns Gold Nuggets and XP and completing all 7 earns you a bonus. Starting next week, compete with rival teams and Posses in the new Free Roam Event Fool’s Gold, where players fight to wear a protective suit of Golden Armor. Take down the current wearer to earn the armor and points, then turn the tables and rack up kills against the opposition. And looking ahead, new game modes will arrive in the Red Dead Online Beta each week. Put your highwayman skills to the test with Target Races as you race other players on horseback to take down targets with speed and accuracy. Proficiency with a bow and arrow will give you an edge, take advantage of weapon and horse stamina pickups where you can, use your limited bullets wisely to remove targets or attack your competition. Take on friends and rivals in new Fishing Challenges. Opt in to a challenge to receive the appropriate equipment and bait, head to the water’s edge and start reeling in the big ones. For added ease, use Eagle Eye to pick a spot full of fish. Remember, you’re trying to catch the highest total weight of fish to win – which could be achieved by hooking several smaller fish or angling for one large catch - so keep everything you reel in. Also coming soon: three new Showdown Modes where players and teams compete to capture and deliver bags, steal loot from each other and survive. Stay tuned for more details around Up in Smoke, Spoils of War and Plunder. With the addition of these new modes also comes the Featured Series blip - visit the Featured Series sign post or select the option from the Quick Join menu to play the latest modes. The Rare Shotgun is a beautifully engraved, faded brass version of the powerful, double-barreled longarm and is available today. Coming soon, be sure to get your hands on the Evans Repeater - a high grade, high capacity rifle that is devastating at medium and long range. Both weapons will be available via the Wheeler, Rawson & Co. Catalogue and from local Gunsmiths. Treat yourself to a range of new Outfits, Boots, Coats, Gloves, Hats, Vests and more. In addition to all the clothing that will be available for purchase at your leisure, keep an eye on the shops and the Catalogue for Limited Time items that will come and go each week. Express yourself with a new set of emotes including new reactions, greets and taunts. Like all Emotes, you can tap once for the standard emote and double tap for a more exaggerated expression. You can find new Emotes in the Wheeler & Rawson Catalogue then add them to your Emote Wheel through the Emote Wheel Management menu. Updated Player Radar and Visibility: We’ve reduced the visibility of players blips over longer distances, so now your location won’t display to other players unless you are nearby – minimizing the likelihood of being targeted across the map by more aggressive competitors. This includes limiting voice chat to near proximity rather than players from across the map. Overly aggressive players will be highlighted from the map with a progressively darkening dot. If your style of play becomes more hostile, your map position (including your Posse members) will become darker and visible from further away. Easier Parley and Feuds: Turn quarrels with other players into timed mini-deathmatches with easier to trigger Feuds, which can be initiated against a rival and their Posse after one kill. Alternately, instigate a temporary truce quicker after one kill with similar updates to the Parley system. Enhanced Law and Bounty System: If you stir up enough trouble to earn a high bounty, you’ll increase the chance that a cadre of NPC Bounty Hunters will be out to get you. The higher the bounty gets, the more persistent your pursuers will become… so watch out! Please keep the feedback coming as these new features arrive each week. In addition to new content, stay tuned for new weekly bonuses such as this week’s care package to help you tackle Daily Challenges and your other ongoing adventures across the five states. Head into the Red Dead Online Beta any time before Tuesday March 5th to receive a complimentary delivery of goods at your Camp’s Lockbox or at the Post Office consisting of: 2x Potent Snake Oil 2x Potent Bitters 2x Potent Miracle Tonic 2x Horse Reviver 2x Potent Horse Stimulant 8x Poison Arrows 10x Explosive Slug Starting today, PlayStation 4 players will have early access to the Jawbone Knife, a unique melee weapon with a handle artfully carved from the remains of a slain animal’s jaw, as well as a range of new clothing options and three new emotes. In the coming weeks, PlayStation 4 players will get the Special Series that launches them directly into the latest early access mode starting with Open Target Races where you compete in an open space to take out the most targets on horseback. Stay tuned each week for new content, bonuses, limited time clothing and more coming in and out of the Red Dead Online Beta and keep an eye out for more updates as we continue improving and growing the world of Red Dead Online.

  15. Missing the repeater and the knife ?cant customise shogun wich is stupid imo. Already found several bugs and the clothes was a dissapointment. And with the new radar system the world feels really really empty but maybe thats a good thing i dunno. Sry to sound so negative, at least the train is back 😜👍🚴‍♂️

  16. I shot a players horse. I was leaving a mission to fetch a wagon. He stepped out of the safe zone, took a cheap shot at my back (and missed). I turned around to get him, but he was inside the house and safe. So, I murdered his horse and called it a day. He was mad, but I figured he deserved it. That being said, I never shot a players horse unprovoked. However, the way you described the scene, I can’t help but laugh. Timing it so perfectly that it looks like your horse collapsed under the weight of the pelt... if it happened to me i’d Probably bust a gut on the microphone. Maybe it was uncalled for, and it was definitely grieferish behaviour, but can’t you at least appreciate all the effort he put into that gag? I would find something like this much preferable to getting sniped a split second before I talk to the butcher... Speaking of butchers in this game, does anyone else find it odd that visiting the butcher is about the most dangerous thing you can do in the west?

  20. Not really impressed either. Fishing challenges and new items sound ok, all the other stuff is more of the same and all PVP related. Hopefully the anti griefing mechanics work out for people. I for one am hoping that at least improvements will be made to the bugs and several glitches will be addressed as well. I just do not understand these software companies, a gazillion PVP games out there, let our fanbase not get the feeling we focus on PVE / MMO like content. Let's just alter the current game modes a bit and label it new content. On a positve note, perhaps I actually will like 1 of the new PVP modes and change my mind, although I sincerely doubt it. TLDR : Minimal "deeper" content will be added, no word on day1 bug fixes, not getting my hopes up for this and the wait for the next real update will be too long.

  21. open world games are my favorite, i often clock in 100+ hours before i'm half way through the story line. That's one reason i love RDR2, Just Cause, Far Cry, etc. etc. I have no idea how much time i spent in RDR2, but i'm still not done with the 2nd epilogue and until about 2 weeks ago or so I played it nightly since release for 2-4 hours, and countless hours on the weekends. My empty nesting has been playing xbox 😁. I'll get to the chore list this spring when there's not 5 ft of snow in the yard.

  22. I know exactly where your coming from. If I'm in a town and do see someone coming towards me I'll emote at wave as a friendly gesture, but they still shoot. I've also been sniped a few times while fishing. All this griefing is the only thing that spoils this game online for me. I don't go around killing anyone. I'm alone wolf who just wants to grind. I'm was heading towards Blackwater earlier and it came up about another posse has started a mission etc. She rode past me on the wagon. I just carried on trotting along in my own little bubble. She stopped turned round and shot me. I just thought wtf. It's just pointless at times.

  23. It still doesn't mean the game can determine whos the aggressor or the defender even if there was a grace period. This game needs invite only and/or friendly sessions.
    1 point
  24. I don't buy into that to be honest. RDO is already infested with griefers and those who will now fire on sight simply to protect themselves as a result. .....can't blame the latter really. Invite-only lobbies should be offered as an option to those of us who wish to explore the world / activities with friends or alone. Free Roam can still be relevant by retaining missions, heists, etc. (certain activities) within it that only can be played there. GTAVO already does this. ......or perhaps make missions / tasks available in both but more profitable in Free Roam Either way, there are things they can do in Free Roam to help mitigate the issue of griefing which they already are going to do. .....to what an extent or if it will actually have an impact, we'll just have to wait and see. There needs to be some accountability for those actions because as it stands, there really is none. Regardless, I don't believe RDO will ever be a troll-fest on the level of GTAVO.

  25. This is pretty flawed for many reasons. Myself and friends love to murder the crap out of each other for laughs and pvp practice. We also love to spawn kill the hell out of players and posses that **** with us. So my honor tends to bottom out pretty quickly. The reality is, this game needs invite only lobbies and... if possible. Friendly lobbies. And leave the normal lobbies for people who like the 'anything goes' type feel of the game.
