Rockstar Games to reward users who add extra security verification to Social Club accounts Kyle Evans, 56 mins ago 0 1 min read We see a lot of people on Twitter not very happy because their Social Club accounts have been hacked and they can’t get them back. A lot of these people won’t have 2 step verification to help them out. Well, now Rockstar Games is pushing for people to start using Two-step verification. Secure your Social Club account with Two-step verification and you’ll be rewarded with: 10 Gold Bars in Red Dead Online $500,000 in Grand Theft Auto Online Future benefits for GTA Online Future benefits for Red Dead Online Now, let’s hope this is a good enough way to persuade people to secure their accounts.2 points

Sad to say our posse has quit playing. But here are some really simple ideas that if implemented would encourage player movement and make the world feel more alive. 1. "Double" the number of players on a session. 2. Make some tweaks to some of the missions so they have alternate pickup and destination locations and make the route longer. 3. More raiders/bandits during missions to make it more challenging. It's like the game doesn't change if you are a level 10 or a level 100. 4. Player/Posse assassination missions should be more player vs player so the target doesn't just run. Encourage the target with double XP if they can kill the assassin. Whoever kills first. This should be a no brainer and take what is normally a wasted 5 minutes into an engaging experience. 5. Bounty system change: Player kills you for "no reason" you can pick up their body and take it to a post office for a bounty. Have 3 minutes to get it there and the player killed doesn't spawn back for 60 seconds. Any other player can try to get the body and take it for the reward with no penalty. There would have to be other details ironed out, but nothing ground breaking. 6. Missions that allow you to risk something. Say you want to risk/put up $5 per wagon to take escort them "across" the map. Each wagon that makes it earns you $5. You loose $5 for each wagon that does not make it. 7. Bring crafting back. ex: long range arrows take 1 eagle feathers, this could be whatever but would make grinding hunting more fun and would be the infancy of a commerce system. 8. Rare animals (don't over populate this (could even have an ability card that would help), but something for the folks that like to hunt/grind). Maybe their is a crafting element to this as well as rare animals can make/improve x item. 9. Incremental/small upgrades to weapons and accessories. This should have a high cost per item, but once you reach level 90ish there is no reason for money or XP. All of these should fit into the engine they already have built and would actually turn the open world into just that. More of a world with real people interacting with real people. They have done very little if anything to encourage player movement. Some of these would be just meta data changes for the most part and not that much actual coding.2 points

Rockstar is escalating my ticket for further review regarding the 0x20010006 error. I provided packet traces that show no issue until the drop. No latency, CRC's errors, No retrans. Not my network. ISP has no issues with connection either.2 points

Whilst I do not agree with the latest glitch of duplicating kills ( I hope R* will be rolling back the accounts of all involved in doing the duplication exploit ) I did like the fact we could go into passive mode. I enjoyed a few hours of no hassle hunting in tumbleweed with out a hole griefers attacking me in packs. Now it seems this way of entering passive mode has been patched much to the annoyance of many players. Some time`s we just want to hunt in peace if we want to run around shooting every one we go to showdown. Another thing is the last update to try and help combat griefers by making them a red dot on the map and a bounty for killing other players, Now where is the logic in doing this then adding kill other players in daily challenges...? This leads to non griefer players being punished for defending them self's against these griefers by receiving a bounty.. We need a choice of going into passive mode so we can just hunt in peace. Some times I don't want to have to check the map every 2 mins to see if some one is heading my way to grief me ( not that we can now after the last update ). And the parlay system is not a cure for this, Also the last update made hunting worse lower sell prices and longer spawn times if at all. R* really needs to address these issue as the way online is at the moment is not enjoyable for most. I don't want to have to grind away for hours to earn cash then lose my kills to some a hole pack of griefers. R* needs to listen to its fan base and not the how much they can squeeze out of players with pointless micro transaction. I love the whole concept of the game but the way it is at moment its not enjoyable its more frustrating than any thing.. Here's how I think it should be set up give players the option of passive mode with out limits. Add the kill players challenges to the showdown event only this will force griefers to have to do showdown if they want to clear all daily challenges.. sadly i will be shelving this game till these issues have been sorted out.1 point

Well, this is me. I'm somewhat over 50, so slower than a lot of other young folks around here. I've been gaming on and off ever since the early days of home computers (anyone remember Pong on the old Atari?) I'm not saying I'm any good at many of the games I played, I just play to enjoy them. I've worked all my life with computers, and I'm currently a software developer for a large UK based software company. Thankfully, I enjoy my job and have a great boss. I live in the south of the UK with my partner and two dogs. I get onto the console when I'm allowed to (that's about 600 hours worth since RDR2 was released...) I used to have a PS1 years ago and played a lot of Doom, until it started making me really really angry. I bought an Xbox 360 solely after watching adverts for Forza Motorsport 3. And then FM4 was release, and then Forza Horizon, FM5, Forza Horizon 2 (you get the picture). I was a moderator on the Forza Motorsports official site, so I've seen some of the best and worse of online gaming. I tend to play in campaign/story mode most of the time - I'm just not quick enough to catch up or compete with the kids online these days. So now I'm here. Being helped by the good folk here, and trying to pay it back when I can. And now some fool goes and makes me a moderator! That's as bad as putting Pearson in charge of food...1 point

Finally, it has come to this. Its time to come out of the closet. This is difficult to admit, but bare with me, for this will probably happen to you as well. There are lots of you in the same situation right now, you, me, we are all blessed with a curse. My blessing is I am a retired adult in good health, my curse, and hopefully yours as well, is unscheduled time. I am a retired adult who plays RDR2 Online. There I said it, it feels much better now that is out in the open. Whew. My family has known that I play the game but the neighbours and the folks at the Legion, at church have only heard rumours spread in the parking lot or the check out counter at Costco. (“Did you hear? He plays RDR2 Online and he's retired!! It's shocking and no good can come of it!”) One of the signs of addiction is the tolerance to higher levels of substance abuse that produce a lower high in return. Its an endless cycle, you need to smoke two rocks to give you the same high one rock gave you last week. It's vicious, it's hell, it's never ends. Which brings us to RDR2 “Beta” Online and current state of online gaming. My online gaming habit started in the last century, in the early nineties. I have played all the standards, Battlefield, COD, Medal of Honour, Close Combat, Day of Defeat, Counter-strike, Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon all on the PC or PSN. They all have the same problem, griefers, campers, tk's who intentionally disrupt the session you are in simply because they can. No online game is without them. No online game has ever been able to eliminate such behavior. We all have horror stories of favorite games ruined and abandoned to the griefers. The online games that survive find a balance, the average player can manage their contact with griefers and still enjoy the game. Very few games manage to do that. RDR2 Online, the Beta, has not reached that balance yet and based on my past gaming experience, it probably won't. The award and bonus system in RDR2 rewards griefers. Hogtie and drag your enemy 100ft you get rewarded, shoot them in the head with a arrow you get rewarded, screw up their mission, you get rewarded, no I think RDR2 is fatally flawed because of this. So here are my predictions for RDR2 Online: The Beta phase will continue for another couple of months. There will continue to be updates and attempts to rectify the griefer's behavior. There will be free stuff from Rockstar in order to hold non-griefers brand loyalty Rockstar will NOT achieve the required revenue streams for this product that large corporations demand Rockstar will eventually call it quits and abandon the project to the trolls because they are working on RDR3 VR for the PS5. ;))1 point

Yeah, same thing happened to me and I thought that too. I did however get an email later that confirmed it. .....so I would say yes, it did set up correctly since I saw the same thing you are seeing.1 point

I'm the same way: the last time I purchased a Collector's Edition of any game was Halo 3, when I got the Master Chief Helmet version, so I think 11+ years in between is a suitable gap. I'm also not overly enthused for anything on the horizon this year. Anthem had my interest, but as I've said before, it's making all the mistakes TD1 did at launch, so I figure I have a year until they get it sorted out and somewhat playable. As others have noted, it's a game that basically lets you play as Iron Man in an open world, so it's going to be pretty hard to screw up. As for TD2, I'm ready. I have two more Exotics to pick up to close out the last Shield (Marshall), and then I'll be locked & loaded with all the goodies. Given how little time I have to play anymore these days, I'm not above paying up front for a little extra to enhance my enjoyment, especially if those extras don't provide a competitive advantage. I'm not a monster.1 point

Glitch has been fixed. For awhile you couldn't even sell cougars to butcher. You can now. I think they will address players who abused this with next update. I am guessing they will roll back money on peoples account that abused this. The did this with GTA Online . But I honestly don't know why you would have abused this to get a few thousands of dollars. What are you going to spend it on? Emotes? LOL.1 point

Well, cosmetics are certainly going to be part of it but I'm also expecting to see more content in the way of gameplay. Unfortunately for me, the content that is PvP related (PvP game modes) is not something I tend to enjoy. Time will tell.... EDIT: btw, CoD MW Remastered is free this month for PS+ subscribers. THat may give you a little something to do in the meantime and won't cost you anything.1 point

Hi @DNMNetTech and welcome to the forums. If it's all the same to everyone here, I'm going to merge this with the "Constant Disconnect" thread you mentioned @Foxtrot. I'll edit the first sentence of the post so it melds in. EDIT: Ooops. Guess I inadvertently locked this thread when merging Tech's response. .....sorry all. It's been corrected.1 point

Never played GTA, but if I had to guess, they most likely added a few additional options to the player creation menu, or expanded the existing ones. Something like that seems reason enough.1 point

Probably not feasible given the current net code for the game. They already have issues with disconnects occurring regularly to a disproportionate number of users. They should consider expanding the current posse size limits, though, as a compromise. The missions and stranger quests definitely need some tweaking and refinement. But that's why the game is still "in beta", so these things can be ironed out. This seems like it would be better suited as a variation of the stage coach mission, or a natural extension of the current "bounty missions" that involve stealing stage coaches or boats, etc..." Applying a variation of the model to the current "bounty" system to dissuade players will only engage trolls to steal bodies and dump them in rivers/lakes/streams or feed them to gators/bears/cougars. Too much potential to abuse for "boosting" money or transferring in-game currency between accounts, something R* would want to avoid because it would be too easy to exploit. The rewards from hunting do need to be tweaked to provide more than just meat and skins which are converted into cash. Whether or not that means adding addtional craftable items to the already extensive list of in-game items or not, I'm not certain, but it should definitely be examined in order to bolster the rewards derived from hunting. I'd prefer to see these hunts instanced--much like current missions are. Reason being, the last thing we need is groups spawn camping for legendary or rare animals as a form of trolling. Without level banding for Showdown series, PvP matchmaking, or Free Roam, my biggest concern would be making players further along in their progression even more OP than the low level players they're preying upon. I've already been shot with dynamite arrows in Free Roam when I'm only at about level 15 or 16, just because someone felt like being a Delta Bravo. Now you want to give them the access to even MORE power? It's a nice thought, and in an environment where folks weren't targeted for being alone or just for having a lower level, I'd be fine with this, but chasing off new players who can't defend themselves in the immediate aftermath of being headshot from half a mile away while fishing just because someone has a beefed up rifle seems.... no bueno.1 point

I want some more upper class and Indian/Native attire myself. It seems a bit strange they haven't added in either of these. I hope they aren't going to expect us to pay real money for items like this.1 point

Number 2 for me. I do wish I could hop on a private server. I don't always get to play with friends cause of mismatching work schedules and family life so being able to do my own thing would be nice.1 point

GTA gives players the ability to change the look of their character. ......but it's for a price. However, they have a couple times over the course of the game allowed players to change their character for free. I suspect at some point R* will do the same in RDO.1 point

I agree @The_Liquor. Sure, games have become more expensive. ......to make. Game prices on the other hand have remained relatively unchanged for years. AAA game companies have a responsibility to their customers but they also have a responsibility to their shareholders. This is a business. A business that needs to make money but also needs to appeal to its consumers. You can't do one without the other. If consumers were not buying the product and continuing to play, these games would not continue to exist. Online games are moving to a GaaS model. A model that relies on MTXs to survive. In R*s case, these are MTXs that are not P2W based but essentially all cosmetic. The more people you can get to play your online game (including those that never buy MTXs), the more money the company stands to make, the more content they are able to release and the longer they are able to sustain it. The fact is that R* has one of the most successful GaaS models to date with GTAO. If I had to put my money on the doom & gloom'ers or R* on RDOs success, I'll take R*. Now, that doesn't mean that I won't agree with everything they do in the game. Hell, I may even shelve it at some point. .....but I can't buy into the implications of many of these opinion pieces, articles, etc. that RDO is on a path to failure because some people can't accept that the game is in beta and continues to be a work in progress. ....something R* & 2K have been very clear about since before release.1 point

I guess everybody just has their own tolerance level for this kind of stuff, because, for me personally, RDR2 never felt like it was pushing any liberal politics to an invasive level.1 point

Hi @HOTSKIP and welcome to the forums. Thanks for sharing your ideas. I would also suggest that you and others here (who would like to see such additions) to submit your requests through the R* Beta Feedback website they have set up: https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=f2e50892 While it's great to talk about it here (and we encourage you do so to help drive awareness, grow ideas, etc.), that site is the only official means of getting our suggestions, concerns and bug reports to R*.1 point

I don't know why people expect a ton of money being generated by a "beta" game that's only 3 -4 months old.1 point

I would love.... LOVE LOVE to see more additions to the Clothes.. Eye patch, BANDOILERS!!! <- i mean.. come on!! why have these not been added yet?1 point

We should have like a pinned thread or something for this. Like when you contact Rockstar, post your message to them in the thread and then post the response you get if you get one. That way we can see what others are having issues with and possible tackle the same things to help them out a bit on what is most important to us, the players.1 point

I named my main one Dangit. I decided on this name because everytime something gets screwed up, it is like I am blaming the horse. Also, when I am online I can yell "Dammit Dangit!" and people think I have Tourette's or something.1 point

Haven't exactly been able to figure out the color of my bonus thoroughbred (it's like purple, which doesnt seem right, so it could be black with the lighting making it look purple), but after playing enough story mode, I knew what kind of behavior to expect from it, so I named it Train Wreck, and it lives up to the name quite well.1 point
