I did have a guy remove my fish from my horse a couple weeks ago. So.. I removed his horse from my fish. Took my fish back off the ground and rode away.

Exactly, the only thing they will get from me is a bullet in their head.

So thievery is ok in your eyes ?? Yep it's an outlaw move and should be delt with as such ! Outlaws are part of the game and so is honest cowboys ! Outlaws end up on the business end of a rope and they will ! We never shoot first but stealing from us won't end well for you. Get your own deer.

You don't save my butt from anything, thanks. I personally don't call in help unless with my posse and my posse mates are being negatively effected. And believe me, my posse doesn't require your assistance in the slightest. Someone killing you is not, I repeat, is not, someone griefing you. Even if you're in defensive. Killing other players is part of the game. Revenge for someone killing you is part of the game as well, but you're not "griefer hunting" for crying out loud. You're battling another player. Griefing is a player, or group of players, that attack another player or players repeatedly when it's obvious the player being attacked is outmatched or doesn't want a fight. There are other forms like running into shops, or glitching, etc. Just because someone decides they're playing a bad girl/guy, and part of that is gunning down random players, doesn't make them a griefer. They're playing well within the "rules" of the game, as it were. This is exactly why "Griefer Hunting" groups are so problematic and in my opinion to be avoided. There's simply too many players out there that can't seem to get what griefing actually is and exactly who is doing it.

Well historically speaking a posse is a body of men, typically armed, summoned by a sheriff to enforce the law. Now to define law that needs enforcing, in the game, is a bit tricky. The posse thing, I think we all know how to form them. They used to be volunteers not just a set specific group of individuals tho many were.

Maybe. Or maybe they're just stealing your stuff. If I found a free perfect deer just laying around, I think I'd pick it up. For some people, that is only a small step from taking it from someone else who isn't going to retaliate. This. I think stealing someone else's stuff is a legitimate part of the game. I am definitely not in the camp of "it's the Wild West, so shooting random strangers in the back of the head is all part of life's rich tapestry" that's BS, but it is the Wild West, so helping yourself to a carcass off a poorly supervised horse seems like a legitimate activity, for an outlaw type. Keep your friends close, but your heavily laden horse closer, I think the saying goes.

Instead of locking them out from being saddled to ride, why not also have a cargo saddle? Make it $1200 RDO and you can carry 2 medium animals and 4 or 5 small animals and more pelts. Make it available for Mules, Donkeys, Draft and Work horses

No. Every griefer hunting group eventually turns into a griefing group because it is impossible to be completely accurate in know ing who is griefing and who isn't. Plus, surprise surprise, a real griefer WANTS an entire group killing them. That means an entire group is getting to know the griefer's gamer tag. Griefer hunters might boost their own egos maybe, but they're not doing the game any good. Defend yourself from griefing if you need to, but don't hunt other players.

That is not what I was talking about, obviously, plus I added the caveat about defending oneself. Going after a player that has just griefed you or your group is perfectly justified, but is different from what I was talking about. I'm talking about these self-described griefer hunting groups that act as judge, jury and executioner based on hearsay. I don't know how many times some player separated from their group has fired on me, then I hear in chat "I dunno, this guy just shot at me". So when I fight back and the other player won't quit, suddenly I started it and I'm a griefer. Cause hey, so and so wouldn't lie!

I don't think showing a video of a player that shows their gamer tag when that players is messing with you is naming and shaming. Think naming and shaming is when players make topics and rage about a specific Gamer Tags... and go out of their way to cry about specific players.

Welcome, Cowboy. Well said. Posse teamwork will get you skilled and armed, boosting your level quickly. My crewe hails from several different flags also--at one time, 5. Exactly. Also, if your aggression changed or your blip changed color, it takes a while before you can use defensive mode.

Some of them can be quite persistant ! The worst are the ones who try and be friends first or send you a PS4 request. It seems to have eased a bit with recent changes, the early days were quite rough.

Personally I would kill their horse. Best $4 you can spend.

That would be more thieving than poaching... poaching is what you’re doing loading your horse with as many dead animals as you can and stuffing your satchel full of fish lol. honestly, it’s annoying. But fits more in the line of being a thieving outlaw than riding around and murdering people for no particular reason. I’d just stop them, myself. Either with my fists or my guns, situation dependant. And if they get the upper hand and get away with my stuff, oh well. They won fair and square (assuming they don’t just make it into an excuse to grief you endlessly. Then they’re just being di*ks)

Last night I had a posse of 4 kill me while fishing. I came back and shot all 4. They then proceeded to come at me from all sides with explosive rounds and incendiary buckshot. I kept running towards them doing the jig. They were getting irritated according to the language they were using. I kept silent until they wasted all their ammo. Finally said guess you need duck fat now. Slowly road away without any issues.

We are all xbox, sadly. But it is fun as a newly minted over-50 to get revenge on the dirtbag griefers who would hunt me for no reason, often while I was just fishing. Now when they take a cheep shot at me I call over my posse on mic and we go after the cowards until they leave.

So, lol I got a little triggered earlier, and just had to rant, I sent Rockstar my thoughts, then I thought, let me rant on the board, and get it all out. So, rant on, lol If you dont want to hear me whine about the game, just skip it. Multiplayer, I hate that you have to select a "series" then you get whatever you get. I hate it!! What bothers me is how awesome the game is, and how stupid this system is, I cant understand how they can get the game so right and then screw up the part that some of us take for granted. I mean it never occurred to me that they wouldnt just make a list of modes for us to chose and then leave us be, watch and see what we do with it, before they decide that wont work, and we want people to try them all so... I have had enough, I am just not paying pvp screw it. Why cant they just put in play a list, these are the game modes, pick the one you want and then go play it? Every other multiplayer game has figured this out, but Rockstar for some reason has some reason of their own that they will not give the players the power of choice and freedom to do what we want. I have no idea why, maybe they feel certain modes wont get any use ? too bad, I am not playing any pvp anymore because I dont like surprises, I hate loading in only to find out it is some mode I dont like and there arent enough people to make it fun anyway. I am not interested in these run around the map with a bow in silence, or run around the outskirts of a map and try to get back to your base, etc. there just dumb, I dislike them and would rather not waste my time with them. I just want it simple, death match, team deathmatch, capture the flag, team capture the flag, etc..maybe a few others, the territory one isnt bad if you are lucky enough to get on with people that actually have a $5 mic and will talk to you so you can work together, which almost never happens, so I give up. I say make me a list, let me select what I want and get out of the way. I sent this same point to Rockstar but I wanted to see who else feels this way, is it just me? Sadly it isnt so much that I dislike all of those, but I dont want to be forced to play them.. Same with these free roam events, fishing events, herb picking event, etc.. wtf Rockstar , make a list, let us chose, F off with these random events that pop up in free roam, if I want to play and event I would go to the multiplayer menu and select it, otherwise if I am in free roam for a reason. I dont want to be taken out of free roam to do anything, I am there for a reason, usually to level up, or make ammo, or craft tonics, etc.. then I go to pvp modes, but of course in this game it is all backwards. Anyway I am just super frustrated that something so great that I enjoy so much is so broken with so many flaws that seemingly are unnecessary. Beta is over stop it with market research and whatever other reasons you have for these crazy ideas, the game is great, stop trying to change every aspect of how we play Multiplayer games. Rant over, flame on.

The one aspect of using a mike that seems to have been missed is that not all people playing RDR2 speak the same language. Myself, I play with a lot of people in Brazil, they speak Portuguese, I play with people in Quebec, they speak French, I play with people in Libya, they speak Arabic, having a mute mike makes sense.

Yesterday was the first time I really suffered this, spent ages hunting in the swamp, rode to Rhodes to be safe and got shot in the head *at the actual butchers*, again, but this time the guy just sat on a buggy in Rhodes Main Street ghosting, other traffic going through him, for ages, denying me my fair return headshot. Do I let it spoil my fun? No way San Jose, I jumped into a race and forgot about it in 30 seconds. those feelings ain't no use to me...

Some dumb exploit that needs a fix. How tragically socially crippled must someone be to grief with a cheat mode?

Yes, I've been killed by ghosting griefers, and so have others. There's a thread on it somewhere. No idea how they do it. It's tragic
