  1. You can't ban people like that for several reasons (namely the fact that not all red dots are griefers) but also PvP is part of the Free Roam experience in RDO. That means sometimes people are encouraged to kill other players whether it's a daily challenge, a side mission you're trying to complete, etc. However, with the proximity blips, the blip range penalty, bounties, the fact that you can now parlay with entire posses, 1 kill parlays, etc., there is now some level of balance now and options for players who are indiscriminately killed by others. It's not perfect but at least (IMO) they've shown they want to continue in the direction of their vision for RDO. Right now, it's quite obvious who the more aggressive players are in a session and as mentioned, you may be able to see them but they won't be able to see you as long as you're more than 150 meters away. .....which is relatively close. .....and assuming you haven't been chalking up kills yourself. Remember though, just because someone is a red dot doesn't mean they have been out griefing people. They could have killed players defending themselves or even NPCs if they slaughtered enough of them. I still avoid any in that color range regardless. @kevzo4, Welcome to the forums. I wish I had an answer. At this point, I don't think there is a way to easily tell. .....at least not one that I have discovered. If you ddo find out a way, please let me know.
  2. @Herta47, To be quite honest, it really depends on the missions you're trying to do, where you are and the types of folks in your session. Not all missions are going to be those that encourage other players to try and stop you like mail runs, wagon repossessions, etc. ......and not all leave you as vulnerable as some so escape is not actually that hard if it comes down to it. The trick is to learn what types to get involved in and don't take those that you feel will leave you overly exposed. .....wagon missions are those kind IMO. Heck, even with mail runs you're on your own horse so you have speed on your side. Also, IME, someone is just as likely to steal a bag (if you're on a multiple delivery run) at the start location than to screw with your current delivery. .....and you will still get credit for the run(s) you complete. Personally, I never do missions (especially alone) near where I initially spawn and these days, definitely not anywhere near a region where there are red blips on the map. I will select a state to spawn in (say New Hanover) and then trek over to the west end of the map (sometimes even further like New Austin in this case) before hunting, fishing, engaging in side missions, etc. .....and I never loiter around. Speaking from my own experience, I have done many missions solo with relatively few actually being interrupted by other players. At least now, the more aggressive players in your sessions are easier to spot.
  3. ....and what's the point of outlaws without some semblance of law and order? ......risk and consequence, etc. That really didn't exist before the last TU and griefers took full advantage of it. .....and you're right, many of us never asked for NO killing. We just wanted more balance, risk and consequence. ....and guess what.....R* agreed. There's a big difference between that and those wanting a completely protected gameplay experience which you seem to be lumping all of us into. Quite frankly, I'm happy with R*'s direction in the last TU if they can tweak it a bit (e.g. the bounties and player blip penalties on self defense, etc.). It's far from perfect but a good start IMO. I'm not complaining. How many golf titles do you know that allow hunting and fishing in their games? How many allow you to kill your opponent? How many have in-game economies reliant on these activities to help you advance, buy weapons and goods, etc.? How many advertise any of that in their marketing? R* has said that they wanted RDO to be an extension of the campaign as a "jumping off point for a new world of cowboys (and cowgirls) and outlaws that combines multiplayer and cooperative gameplay and narrative components in a huge open world. Players will be able explore alone or easily join with friends or other players to compete or work together. We’ll take full advantage of the entire world, as well as all the aspects of a 19th century setting that make Red Dead Redemption 2 unique and fun." As I said before, Free Roam is just as much about adversarial gameplay as it is cooperative or solo and R* has said as much. They also would not have included these activities you are so quick to dismiss if they had not intended people to participate in them. There is a middle road here which is all some of us are asking for and quite honestly, R* seems to agree with and looks to be trying to deliver.
  4. I like it. Played a couple hours last night with a friend and a bit of solo.
  5. I always use, well, Sony Dualshock 4 controllers.
  6. Yeah, that;'s the one. The Forest is very similar in some respects but it's about being trapped on an island after a place crash. .....but you soon discover you're not alone. I think it can only be downloaded though (digital copy). Also, I would make sure to watch a couple videos or read some reviews. ......and make sure there is no requirement to be online while playing. I don't believe there is but I don't want to see you buy it and find out I was wrong. I had fun with Ark as well but not as much as I did with the Forest. Everyone is different though.
  7. ......or maybe a fortuitous circumstance as the OP mentioned. .....i.e. a glitch.
  8. Sean Murray lied about way more than MP aspect of the game. NMS is the one title I can honestly get on board with people who felt they were cheated and lied to. .....there's simply no escaping that fact. Some of the videos that popped up showing clips from interviews, etc. and then the reality after release provided all the evidence one would need. I preordered and promptly uninstalled it after discovering just how shallow the game play was. The NEXT update certainly helped but I still got bored with it. There is another update being teased that is rumored to be pretty big. If you like building things and if you like survival games, check into the Forrest. I bought it for $19 on sale and was quite surprised how addictive it was. You can play solo or with friends. It has survival elements like ARK but is better IMO. It's been one of the best bargain games I've purchased. With buddies, it's really fun. .....crafting items, building structures, acquiring resources (e.g. plants, hunting, chopping down trees for wood, etc.).
  9. I'm currently playing The Division 2 like @BropolloCreed79 but it's all about co-op for me. Just taking a little break from RDR2 for now but I will be revisiting the game every now and again especially after updates.
  10. Yeah, there were some elements I recall that I liked. .......not enough to get me over the rest of the things I hated about the game though. It's the first game in a long time I decided to rush through simply so I could uninstall it.
  11. Ubisoft. .......but if you were upset by RDR2 being a restrictive open world, might want to think twice about FC5 or at least do your research first. Personally, I thought it was the worst game in the franchise on several levels but that's not to say that you won't like it. For me, it was the lacking end-game, atrocious flight controls, forced capture sequences and progress, weapon balance, lack of weapons (several variants of the same guns), weapon stats that make no sense, AI, lack of scalable difficulty with coop (not enough enemies or difficulty), etc., etc.
  12. Might want to contact R* Support about it. Could be a glitch if you;re sure the money was there. Who knows, maybe they have a way to tell through some historicla data they have access to. https://support.rockstargames.com/categories/115001624507?redirect_lang=en_us&_ga=2.129590668.1041459884.1552664563-1719606522.1525287356
  13. I think Bethesda realizes now what a mistake it was to force this change of direction on their longtime fans. It really hurt the series reputation and trust some folks had in them to deliver a true Fallout experience IMO. Personally, I think they should have focused on the SP and went with just co-op for the MP element. I think more people would have been way more receptive to that as they could then share the story with friends. I know my group of PSN folks I play with would have been all over it. Personally, Fallout is not the kind of game I necessarily want to experience with randoms.
  14. Yeah, they caught a lot of flak from fans for departing from their usual formula but stuck to their guns to the end.
  15. What do you mean? A PS+ subscription is essentially the same thing as an XBox Live subscription.
  16. I would have suggested you did a little research before pulling that trigger but what's done is done..... In short, it is the 5th installment of the Fallout series but a departure from the gameplay you may be used to in the previous titles. ....and I hope you're sitting down for the next bit of news but this one is online. I don't believe there is any offline component to the game and I know you may not have a PS+ account. I won't even get into any of the problems and controversies surround this latest iteration of the franchise but you may want to dig around a bit.
  17. He said he's feeling better about the game and is actually enjoying it now.
  18. Free Roam is just as much about adversarial gameplay as it is cooperative or solo. .....and in all fairness it is also about what folks personally expect from the game which is why R* wants to hear everyone's feedback regardless of marketing, etc. They never said the game would be only a co-op or solo experience but they did however talk about delivering gameplay balance which includes the various forms of playstyles. Personally, I think R* has been at least trying to deliver on what they promised while trying to make it fun for folks on both PvP/PvE fans. Whether they can pull that off is another matter. I agree with @Savage_Reaper that some will never be 100% happy with the direction of the game. For me, aside from the lack of content at the moment, I like the new changes and I think with some tweaks, additions and more time it will ultimately be a pretty fun with something for everyone. ......and I'm a co-op / solo kind of player.
  19. Everyone has opinions on what they are looking for in the game and I certainly can't blame people for providing their feedback to R* when they are practically begging people to do so. Currently, there is one mode and there are no guarantees that there will be private session options. Personally, all I wanted was some balance. .....consequences and risk for those who choose to grief others. Although some keep beating that drum, I never asked for a sterile environment and while there may be exceptions to that, I think many others feel the same way I do. ......and then there are those that don't. If these threads are common then it obvious to me that the topic is a concern for many. If some feel annoyed by them I'd rather see people not respond or use the ignore feature rather than belittle each other with the typical "git gud", "go play the campaign", "grow a pair" and other remarks I see. .....that gets pretty old too you know. I would think we are all better than that. The fact is that griefing was a big complaint R* received which is why the last TU was essentially focused on trying to help mitigate that. Personally, I think it was a good step forward because it introduced consequences for indiscriminate killing of others (proximity blips, parleys after one kill, parleys that affect entire posses, bounties penalties, blip range penalties, etc.). However, I recognize that there were also downsides like bounties placed on those that defend themselves and daily challenges that essentially encourage and reward random attacks. IMO, I think it's quite clear R* wants RDO to be a one size fits all solution so in answer to @Netnow66, I think that's precisely what they are trying to deliver on. They can;t get rid of griefer entirely nor the PvP element. That is as much part of RDO as PvE is. It's going to take some time to develop a balance that works for most and who knows, maybe they'll never really get it right, but I believe it's obvious that is their goal.
  20. Kinda mixed on it to be honest. If they do, then I hope they also make other types of DLCs as well.
  21. Just in case some may not know, limited items will also be in a rotation and will pop up from time to time. .....but yeah, although it's not my cup of tea, cosmetic items are really popular with a lot of gamers which is just fine with me. I actually appreciate that folks buy these types of things because it really benefits us all.
  22. I know..... It was just an attempt at humor on my part. Forgot the winky. The gunplay and tactics in R* games are typically quite arcadey and rely heavily on aids. It's always been more about the overall experience with them, the story telling, atmosphere, etc. GTA and RDR are essentially the only games I will usually use auto aim in as I find free aim a bit awkward and not as fulfilling in that regard as say other TPV titles. If they had a free aim session option in RDO though, I'd actually make and effort to use it.
